@Noa: Just FYI, the Garundi Duskwarden is a faction thing that Mort might be interested in, but I don't think that he or Broot or I have actually mentioned that part of our mission to anyone else. (Maybe Broot did?) OTOH, you and Kort were invited to make rolls on your thingamajigger with Krazel; and as far as I can see, Kort failed and you never tried...
This implies to me that if Kassandra has a faction mission, then she's been left to do it alone, and would be well-advised to ask the rest of us to help her with whatever it is. (If she already asked, then I've already forgotten.)

Kort looks around, trying to look innocent and unknowing. Whistling lightly as they tread around the topic of the Shadow Lodge.
'I think someone would have told me something more concrete if the Shadow Lodge were actively trying to set up a sect-specific lodge here. Particularly since the Decemverate has sent an entire expedition to check it out.'
I believe that this scenario is from an earlier season when there were only five factions. You probably have a Cheliax faction mission, just as Broot and I have the same Osirion mission as Mort; and Kass probably has an Andoran mission.

I'm going to be in the wilderness Friday through Sunday. Unclear what kind of reception there will be if any. Posting may be sparse. I'll try to keep up but might not have the opportunity depending on signal remoteness.

Did I miss a holiday or something? I hope nothing sad has happened to everyone. Otherwise, still here awaiting my next double move.

BTW, i wasn't trying to be a smart-alleck about the configuration of the wall. That's just what happens sometimes, when you ask a mathematician for a geometric specification. Other days, my computer scientist side jumps up - then you might have seen an OpenGL description instead.. :)

![]() |

Dasiji, in the spirit of nitpickery, you won't get the bless bonus in round 4 because I am lower in initiative than you. Thanks for walking through the wall though!

...bu' only if the enemy has estudie' his Agrippa.
- Which I have!
Not feeling ahead, here. I've felt behind since the confessing murderer we were accusing surprised us with the same blinding attack the barkeep used when Aes died. Given how often the NPCs surprise Noa while she's talking to them, I'm considering having her just shoot first, and all that. With the rule working for NPCs that they can surprise us that way, we should turn that around, with the slowest of us attacking, so the fastest of us get to go early in the next round.
We can question them afterwards, if they survive.
What say you all? Turn up the bloodthirst?

No day job.
You're Noa's drummer. :)
I know, no help on job rolls. Noa's got +11 dance when it's for money, and she's got a masterwork dance outfit now, so +13. I don't know if Aesantiel's Mwk flute can be worked in, for +15, but whatever can work, I'll just have Noa take 10.

NO day job either

Taxfest boon -- someone will have to email it to you if you didn't download it in time.

I'm still interested in continuing with the planned series of scenarios, but obviously the pace of posting has been far short of expectations, so I'm not sure that everyone feels the same way. I wouldn't want for anyone to just play out of a feeling of obligation, including the GM. If you're not having fun, then it's defeating the purpose.

I'm still in as well and I think I can notch another XP on an off night here which would put me at level 2.

GM Brute Squad |

Honestly, I was ready to throw in the towel a few weeks ago with the disinterest people were showing in this game. It was really frustrating, and probably a little of that showed in my posting. Now I have cooled off and come around somewhat. I think I am willing to continue with Noa, Dasiji, Broot, and Kort. Perhaps drum up a couple more players to fill the open slots.
Thoughts?

I think it's the weather. I mean, I know the weather is a factor.
All my forum games have gotten grindingly slow. It's just so very apparent here, where we burned through the combat map scenarios pretty quick.
Here's another wrinkle: Noa will level now, and I'll have to figure out what changes and what locks in forever. And I know me, that will take me a while.
So there's all that.

![]() |

Looks like a well-balanced group, though if we're at the low end of the level range, another one or two wouldn't hurt. Will lack of trapfinding be an issue? I don't remember what we're doing next.
Noa, I keep forgetting that you can drastically change your character until 2nd level. What were you thinking of changing?

![]() |

Nothing much about the personality, but a lot of things don't work like you thought when you took them. Noa's got Diplomacy, kind of silly for a Barb, especially When Kas is rocking it. But it's hard to know what's going to be around for party members, so I second- and third-guess myself. I'm really bad for mechanical choices, and I feel bad about short-changing a party if I take, say halberd(which she had), because while it sounds good, it's subpar, and I feel like I'm letting the team down.
So I don't really know. Any suggestions?

GM Brute Squad |

My recommendations:
Definitely keep Diplomacy. It comes up a lot and you want more then 1 character to have it if you have the option.
Don't sink more than 1 Skill Rank into Perform (Dance). Having 1 will justify all your background and give you Day Job checks. Anything more than that is better used elsewhere.
Skill Focus is better served on Diplomacy, Perception, or UMD than on Perform.
Even considering your character concept, the fact is you are a front line damage dealer. And the party needs that. To those ends...
Change your +2 from CHA to STR. STR is much more important to you in combat. The loss of 1 CHA mod is small in comparison to the benefit of +1 STR mod.
You need to have multiple weapons. A main damage dealer: Greatsword or Earthbreaker. A Reach weapon: There are several good options in the APG. I recommend getting something that also has brace. A Cold Iron and Silver Weapon: This can be combined with the above. Make your slashing weapon Cold Iron and your Bludgeoning Weapon Silver. You can also carry a one handed weapon of Cold Iron if you don't want your main weapon to cost more when it is enchanted. You need a bow, a real bow, not a Sling. Spend 2 PP on a Masterwork Darkwood Composite Longbow with +3 STR rating and you never have to worry about it again. Get some Silver/Cold Iron/Blunt Arrows to go with your regular ones.
Loose all other weapons, they just take up space. A Dagger can have it's uses as a tool, but if you want a backup for your two main weapons, it should be a one handed weapon.
Idea: Considering your background, you could contemplate a level dip into Bard. Just sayin'. RAGE DANCE!

I'm looking at the details right now, but figured that I'd toss out my philosophy really quick first.
- I like a blended approach that is both effective and flavorful. For example, the best favored enemy for PFS is humanoid (human) -- but it will be Dasiji's second, not his first. Monstrous humanoid made more sense with his backstory, and by the time he reaches level 5, he'll have plenty of history with fighting humans to justify it.
- You can't be sure of future party composition in PFS, so it's good to have a self-sufficient character. That goes double for healing.
- Over the years of playing D&D/D20/PF, I've observed that it's generally more effective to have some party redundancy than to fill every little niche. So, there's another argument for ignoring party composition.

I'll have to admit that this one was hard for me , since I am not the greatest of role players and I usually over-think what I should say. Thank you for judging, it is hard and thankless job a lot of times.
Perform sing
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

![]() |

... since I am not the greatest of role players and I usually over-think what I should say.
I am the worst role player in this group, hands down. I don't have a hard time overthinking because I just never know what to say.
I think it has to do with the availability / proximity / development of GM-Player and Player-Player relationships. There is no "table talk" and assumptions can be rampant. Character motivation can easily be lost between posting times. Also, other characters can run with ideas and I won't know where I even fit in. So, I just sit back and read and wait til I feel like I can assist. Even then it doesn't always seem right or even pertinent.
But, whatever, I like doing this because it helps me flush out the HOW to play a character. Gives me insight that I can use in my F2F games. It's all meant to be fun in the end and I'm having fun so, success!

GM Brute Squad |

Broot, your colorful descriptions of in combat actions have been refreshing. You are ahead of many people in that aspect.
As for your personality, Speak up for your self! :)
Sure there is no player-to-player talk, but that also means there are no OOC things that will distract you from playing your character. There is no one to talk over you or look at you like you are doing something wrong. Bring out things from his background and personality even when there is only a hint of a reason to do so, or make stuff up on the fly. Most of my characters have not solidified in my head until I have played them for a few sessions. Things come to be in their personalities that I never thought of because of the situations they were in. For example, my dwarf cleric hates the color yellow. That came from a chance encounter with a Yellow Musk Creeper and a failed Will Save. It was off the cuff at the time and now has become a permanent part of him.
Even if you are going along with other character's actions, you can still comment on them. "I agree with...", "Your head is in the clouds, longshanks, come down to earth an listen to some real ideas.", "Did someone say Ale?", "By Torag's hammer I will find this man and give him what he deserves!", things like that.

I worry sometimes that I'm derailing folk, that Noa's TOO mouthy and active. So there's a cliff on both sides of that path.
I think it's just about maintaining a certain inertia. Which can be harder with changing seasons and lives.

![]() |

She's stubborn, yah. Has to be. I can only see her ever bothering to armor up or carry a big weapon in order to smack the unholy crap out of some badguy that desperately deserves it.
She's otherwise too easygoing to walk around like your typical murderhobo.
I think my long-term plan for her could include bard. Heading for the rage powers that can dispel magic, because her mother's story includes a sort of magical dancing, and so it'd be cool if Noa can Urban-barb 'calm rage' into making 'magic' while dancing.
I think too much.
LOL

Noa, Dasiji, Broot, and Mortimer head on over to Strange Brew Tavern.
