The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Tyrrin follows the direction, after casting defensive spells on herself. Could never be too careful.

Mage Armour, Shield, Shield of Faith, Cloak of Dreams, Globe of Invulnerability

"A figurative treasure. And I'm not being as trusting as you think, Tamara. There's a barrier around this planet. No one hostile to us can perceive the planet and anyone hostile to us who leaves here forgets everything about this place as they pass through the barrier. It is well and truly protected. If you wish to go back to the Empire, to a world more friendly to magic users perhaps, that can be arranged at your convenience."

"You must have had or do have several powerful magic users for such a barrier to exist. With it, even if the 'treasure' is somehow found, it still remains safe. That is quite the defense, if I may say so."

Gareth starts thinking hard. Something was nagging at him in the back of his mind, but he couldn't quite figure out what it was...

About a minute and a half after Tyrrin gets to the table, a firebird in his late teens shows up and puts a few books back on the shelf before turning to her.

"You're practically glowing, and while you are quite attractive looking I think you know I'm talking about your magical defenses." He bows with a single, fluid motion. "Tyrrin Denulia, daughter of High Seer Denulia and sister to Ehos Denulia, am I right? Alton Keme de Eil, formerly of the family de Eil, at your service." A quick glance reveals that his library employee badge has the same name. "I believe you have some questions?"

"Aananda, I can't begin to tell you how much it meant to me that you went to get my children, especially by yourself."

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

Ephebe smiled. "Well, you can't expect me to tell you all of our secrets. After all, no one here is exactly what they appear to be."

"Those of you who are school age should notice the classrooms we're passing right now. There are all kinds of classes available here, including several types of arcane studies. It's your choice whether you want to enroll or not, but this is an excellent chance to learn to master your abilities. Since you are new to this world, you would also have to take History of Agartha, a basic class intended to help you adjust to life on this world, and every student is required to take physical education. Most take basic, but for the more athletically inclined there is also advanced PE. Mom teaches that, for now, but she's trying to build a mechanized chamber so that she can focus on her other duties full time. Advanced PE is a pretty small class even though there are many students here. But not many who feel comfortable with boulders hurtling at them. Tomorrow is Monday, so you're welcome to come and observe classes before you make any final decisions about enrolling."

"Neither can I. I may be a Hunter, but a fully grown black with a contingent of people trained to take down magic-users might have been more than I could handle alone."

She gives him a bemused look. "My niece and nephews were in danger. How could I not go and get them? Honestly, the thought of not going never crossed my mind. Whatever else is going on, family is the most important."

"Unfortunately, I did give the Empire fuel for their hatred of the resistance and more clues of our true technical capabilities than I'm comfortable with, but it's a small price to pay considering."

She sighed and grinned at Lysander. "I'll say it again. Family. Works. Together. You're not alone. Not anymore."

Morgan is working at rebinding a book when the alarm goes off. Upon checking the reason, he contacts Headmaster Ryo via telepathy.

::Excuse me Headmaster. There has been a breakin in one of the restricted libraries containing information on the Dragon Empire. Whomever broke in was apparently able to mask their presense for several minutes. Am checking on it now.::

"You let them know we've got nanites, something they may have already suspected by-" The Headmaster stops talking as he gets Morgan's message. "Someone is in the Dragon Empire section of the library. Put up a restricted sign and nothing tempts a person more."

::Do not make yourself known, at least not at first.:: Ryo thinks back to Morgan. ::Get a look at their faces before the have a chance to hide or run.::

Aananda groaned. "Six days. We just need six more days before they make with the mass hysteria ."

She sighed. "Do you need me to go take care of it?"

"I think they would like that." Tamara replies. "After so long being cooped up, it feels good to be free and do something for yourself."

Sense Motive on Tamara: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (15) + 24 = 39

"Gareth, right? How old are you? It's just that I'm guessing that most of the classes here are going to be above your level...I'm actually working on starting a program here for our younger students, but it's still in the planning stages."

"Our librarian is looking into it now. In related news, I sent my reply to High Seer Denulia. The meeting shall be the day after the War is held." Ryo sighs. "Denulia already distrusts me because I'm a Cardcaster. I do not expect the meeting to be anything but taxing."

"Lysander, take your cousins to get something to eat. Make sure it's the blandest food you can find, and make sure they eat it all." The Antairus Three groan at the thought of not having anything tasty for dinner, but otherwise stay quiet. "That should be a good start to their punishment. They go straight to bed afterward. No dessert. No story."

"Of course." Lysander replies, shooing the children out of the lab.

She does seem to know what the other three want despite the fact they haven't said a word since they arrived.

"Um, almost six. I don't know how years work here though."

Ghalen heads to the library, hoping to gain access to the empirial library again. He goes to where he went before...but it's not...working. He frowns in disappointment, and decides to check out the 'legal' section, to familiarize himself with local law.

"At least I know I was right in my assumption that you were spying on me. Magical defenses are prudent when you are being followed. What does a firebird want with me? How do you know what I've been doing?" Tyrrin's stance is defensive, but she's obviously curious about Alton.

Morgan:
You are sure you saw a reddish-brown rat duck out of sight on top of one of the book shelf.

"Believe it or not, it's a part of my job. I know the Avalon librarian is currently on his way here for instance. We have time though. You already know a bit, but I don't think you've put it all together yet. What is it exactly that you want to know?"

"Well, Juco and Maru, if either of you are inclined towards telepathy, I would suggest honing your skills. Psionic abilities are fairly common here. No one will think it at all odd."

"Yes, she's my mother. Well, then, let's make a pit stop in the cafeteria. The staff will probably not be happy to see me again given how very much I ate at first dinner, but I find that I am quite hungry again myself and since James won't be eating dinner tonight, I don't feel bad taking his share." ^.^

She leads the way into the cafeteria and helps the others navigate the line and make their food choices and leads them to a table before heading off to eat a whole heaping table's worth of food that could not possibly fit in her small, slender frame.

Morssgan thinks to himself, "Ah, one of Mr. de Eli's pets. Maybe he forgets I ate the last one he left here. A bit spicy but still delicious."

As Morgan he continues to follow the trail to the Mystery section, being fairly sure of what he will find and that he is expected. Only the other players in the game remain.

Perhaps you forget all the ash you were expelling from your digestive track. I have always had 23 rats, and I still do, thanks to James Sunwake.

It only seems that way because they are replaced from alternate universes.

"One of the students here knew what the world really was, and set about to change it. I offered my help, naturally, so things wouldn't go badly. He thought 'Why should we be stuck in a cage?' and decided to break said cage. He reversed what was done long ago, and turned the planent inside out. You didn't have a sky until then. Thousands of years of ancient and dying wards were in the way."

"The Dragon Empire is real, and Agartha is where the Amethyst dragons decided to hide away rather then join a conflict they could not win. Times have changed though, and we may see just what happens because of that."

"The information isn't exactly known to Avalon, just a few people in it. Look around, this isn't the school's library. I'm sure you've heard the legends about how all real dragons are horrible, terrible beasts of destruction? Well, when it comes to Agartha's dragons, those are false stories spread by Imperial assassins. Still, hatred of the creatures is wide spread. How do you think people would eact if they found out their world was created by the dragons they hate so much? People fear what they don't understand, Miss Denulia, which is why so many still mistrust Cardcastors. It's strange that you still do though, considering one is doing what he can to help your brother."
