The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

No, I'm pretty sure growing a new body part from a bloody pit in your face should hurt... Healing isn't necessarily painless.

Male Quasit (Demon) Gestalt Vitalist/Psion(Telepath) 16

::Ryleh, I have to help Nasima, I will be distracted for a short time.::

Phaezeriel waves a hand gently, and a space opens in the web of crystals, many of the smaller ones have started to go dark and they drop to the floor with a quiet tinkling sound, and steps through it. The web closes behind him, and he moves to Nasima's side and perches on the table near her.

::Be still Nasima. So still. You will be whole soon.:: Phaezeriel's mind-voice is soothing and Nasima involuntarily calms a bit.

As Ephebe's shell rapairs her eye, Phaezeriel's secondary mind forms a second collective with only Nasima and himself. He reaches deep within himself to a wellspring of power that is wholly new to him, and with a hiss of effort begins carefully and quickly filtering the energy Vai has brought and placing it into the damaged places within Nasima's self, fitting it seamlessly into the nibbled edges as seamlessly as if it had never been lost.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (19) + 28 = 47.
Heal: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (11) + 16 = 27.

Overchannel damage: 15d8 ⇒ (1, 5, 7, 8, 7, 6, 5, 2, 8, 5, 7, 1, 6, 1, 4) = 73.

Phaezeriel uses a manifestation of Aura Alteration to remove any trace of the evil godpiece, Psychic Chirurgery to heal her broken mind, and Cleanse Spirit to restore her wounded self.

When Krays blocks the energy transfer from Khoda, the lightning god is able to right himself, albeit stiffly, and there is an angered shriek of inhuman rage from within the shadow realm through the portal. Giant tentacles the size of suspension bridge lines and covered with razor-sharp spines begin flailing and wiggling their way up and out, rising inexorably up at Ephebe's Life-Partner at the rate a feather falls.

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

::DESTROY KHODA! QUICKLY!:: Krays calls out through the telepathic connection, as he moves closer to Khoda, retreating away from the...whatever-the-hell that is.

Ryleh hammers at the gems on Khoda's head with all of her might, using the second half of her split mind to manifest matter manipulation to make the next gem easier to break.

Sunder: 1d20 + 48 ⇒ (14) + 48 = 62
Damage: 4d6 + 16 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 1) + 16 = 29

Sunder: 1d20 + 48 ⇒ (17) + 48 = 65
Damage: 4d6 + 16 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 6) + 16 = 32

Jim's machine sucks energy away from Khoda like a vacuum as Jim and Aananda move it closer to Khoda.

Anyone else need to get an action in here? The demi-elementals need to react to Khoda's change of state but I don't wanna stomp on anybody's action.

All of mine have gone for this round.

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

I'm moving with Aananda and the machine.

I'm just keeping the Sky Rays out of the way, so I'm good. :)

As Khoda stabilizes, at least for the moment, the lightning elementals re-solidify. The one holding Enre maintains his grip on the champion, and the one behind Enre remains there to deal damage. The other four, however -- all of whom are obviously wounded from the attacks of the group -- turn and rocket towards Krays. Two fly down and start smashing the tentacle-thing with lightning bolts, eliciting more irritated shrieks from whatever it is. The other two attempt to grapple Krays and begin pushing him towards the portal. One fails; the mighty necromancer is able to avoid its clumsy grab. That demi-elemental floats right past and out of combat for the time being. The other one is very careful to keep Krays directly in the path of the siphoning beam.

Round 5 - Lightning demi-elementals
Grapple to put Enre to Pinned condition:
1d20 + 45 ⇒ (6) + 45 = 51
Attacks vs. Enre (Flat-Footed):
1d20 + 40 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 40 + 2 = 58
1d20 + 40 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 40 + 2 = 48
Damage:
4d8 + 12 ⇒ (6, 2, 4, 1) + 12 = 25
4d8 + 12 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 3) + 12 = 26
Bull-rush vs. Krays - moves five feet for every five over CMD
1d20 + 45 ⇒ (1) + 45 = 46 - critical fail
1d20 + 45 ⇒ (6) + 45 = 51

Khoda takes advantage of the slip in the action to teleport himself out of the way; he appears a mile up above everything and off to the side a bit. His mantle is gone, only his bare skull is showing, his one ruined eye still black and empty and leaking bits of gemstone.

Brute force, he realizes, may not work with these beings. He needs to think, which is not his strong suit.

The sky rays in the nets struggle in vain to get free, their movements only burning their wings even worse. The two that teleported, however, appear in the thick of things and engage Fieri and Jiminy 0, picking up for the demi-elementals that moved to deal with the tentacled shadow-thing.

Round 5 - Sky Rays
Attack Fieri:
Wing bash:
1d20 + 33 ⇒ (9) + 33 = 42
1d20 + 33 ⇒ (8) + 33 = 41
Damage (if applicable):
3d8 ⇒ (6, 1, 7) = 14 wind damage
3d8 ⇒ (8, 2, 1) = 11 wind damage
Attack Jiminy 0:
Wing bash:
1d20 + 33 ⇒ (12) + 33 = 45
1d20 + 33 ⇒ (2) + 33 = 35
Damage (if applicable):
3d8 ⇒ (2, 6, 5) = 13 wind damage
3d8 ⇒ (6, 1, 3) = 10 wind damage

Nasima remains completely still, but her hair begins moving softly in time with the cloud patterns on her skin. Her breathing is again regular.

Fi and Jiminy 0 used their actions last round to teleport to the portal to go back to the lab. Jiminy 1-4 are still there and so is Keme.

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

Krays turns ethereal and ports out of the reach of the elementals, going back after Khoda...

Whoops. They attack the Jiminies, then; 1 and 4.

Image

The remaining Jiminies work together to summon a large scale sonic blast in a 100 foot radius..

Sonic damage: 40d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 2, 3, 6, 1, 6, 3, 2, 4, 4, 5, 6, 4, 3, 6, 4, 5, 6, 5, 4, 2, 3, 4, 2, 5, 1, 2, 1, 6, 3, 4, 2, 1, 4, 1, 4, 4, 5) = 151

Fort save DC 30 for half. Those who don't make the Fort save are stunned 1 rd.

The extra Jiminies disappear as soon as they finish casting.

Image

Fort save: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (6) + 20 = 26

Not able to get out of the blast zone in time, Keme is badly damaged and stunned by the sonic blast.

Ryleh flies close enough to Jim and Aananda to grab a hold of them both along with the machine and psychoport all of them just above Khoda's head so that the machine will continue draining Khoda's energy. She lets go of them and dive bombs at the gems on Khoda's head.

Sunder: 1d20 + 48 ⇒ (5) + 48 = 53
Damage: 4d6 + 16 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 4) + 16 = 31

Vai can feel Keme's mind abruptly stunned, leaving him helpless. Of all the people to need saving. Well. Keme HAD asked her to pick up the pieces afterwards. She dips her head, removing the necklace filled with energy and placing it on the ground in front of Phaeze. She then wills herself next to Keme, wrapping her tail around him and roaring at any nearby threats before teleporting away, back to the lab.

Using Dimension Door the second time, so Vai is able to bring Keme with her.

I think that's everyone for this round, yes?

Ryleh strikes the gem in Khoda's head, and all is suddenly terribly still.

*strangled noise*

The gem in Nasima's head suddenly shatters, then explodes outward in a shower of powder and rubble. There is a wound, briefly, but Phaezeriel's healing magic immediately closes it, leaving no sign it was ever there.

The gem in Khoda's head suddenly shatters, then explodes outward in a shower of powder and rubble. Immediately after it, the beam of black energy from the tentacle portal miles below blasts up and hammers the God of Destruction, removing more of his life force.

Then, in chain reaction, each of the other gems on his head explodes one after the other, each with a concussive *BOOM!* The demi-elementals fly apart and return to their original form; lots of smaller elementals.

Enre is now free, but surrounded.

Then, with violent speed, tearing a massive rip in the fabric between planes, a giant alien thing from the shadow plane lunges out of the portal and grabs Khoda with five chitinous and spiny three-fingered hands. The erstwhile god of destruction screams, but is quickly silenced as the Shadow Monarch lurches back through the portal, taking him with. The last surface thoughts anyone can detect from Khoda are the basest expressions of sheer terror, then he is gone, swallowed by shadow and the abyss as the portal to those planes closes.

Jim's machine has managed to collect a large amount of energy from Khoda in the several seconds it was on target, and now the whole group is hanging in the Plane of Storms, looking at the lightning elementals, who are obviously quite confused, looking at each other, then where the portal was, then at the lot of you. Slowly, they begin to retreat, never taking their eyes off of you.

out of turn-based movements, act as you will

Krays curses under his breath as the creature reclaims Khoda, powerless to stop it. He sighs and cancels the divine vessel spell, gliding back toward the portal, thinking about that other place, and the thing inside it. He gives Ryleh a look, which says 'I don't think this is over...'

::Everyone go back to the lab now,:: Ryleh said, sounding quite tired. She will wait to make sure that everyone has retreated before heading back herself.

::Jim, do we abandon the machine here or bring it back with us?::

Ephebe hits Keme with a heal shell as soon as Vai drags him back through the portal.

"Thanks," he mumbled.

When Krays arrives back at the infirmary, he give his mate a long tender hug.
"Everything go alright here?" he says, looking at a recovering Nasima.

Jiminy collapses about the same time the other Jiminies disappear. Fieri does her best to catch him so he doesn't hit his head on anything and drag him out of the way of incoming traffic as people are returning through the portal.

She hugs him back. He can feel the relief from her.

"Well, it was rather exciting for a while, but I think she's going to be okay now."

That's going to be an embarrasing puddle later. ;P

It may be an embarrassing puddle now, actually... :/

I guess heroism is not always as glamorous as the bards portray it to be ;)

"So...it worked? Nasima is okay?" she asked as she slid an unconscious Jiminy under a workbench. He should be alright there, she reasoned, and it wasn't like she could take him to the infirmary on her own.

"Hey, where's mom and grandma? And Jim? And Enre? Haven't they come back yet?"

Is the plate on the other side of the blade? If not then Khassar will collaspe the telescoping pole down to five ft. Place the pole on the pressure plate and extend it so that it touches the ceiling and forces the plate down. Carefully slide the pole forward until the blade drops and lock the pole at that height. This should allow enough room to access the mechanism using thieves tools, or if not then enough room to pour a flask of acid into the mechanism.

It's on the side of the trap the group in on, I just wanted a description.

With the pole, Khasser is able to activate the trap easily and move on to disable fairly quickly. A quick test reveals that the pressure plate no longer moves .

Ori sends a paper cat down the corridor to make sure there aren't any other surprises waiting for them.

Insensible to most of the end of Khoda, Phaezeriel is wholly consumed by the task of putting Nasima back together. A brief flinch when the gem in her head explodes the only sign that he notices anything. After nearly a minute, Vai's necklace seems an ordinary gem once again; all the glow gone out of it. As he finishes, Nasima can feel .. almost a click .. as something she hadn't even noticed missing slips back into place inside herself. Carefully, Phaezeriel withdraws from Nasima's mind and, after a brief pause, pat's Nasima's shoulder and sits back on the workbench, wiping away a thickish silvery liquid that traced lies down his face from nose, eyes, and mouth.

Phaezeriel looks around the lab, visibly counting everyone who returned, and gestures with a hand towards the web of crystals. The rest of the Psicrystal Swarm have nearly all gone dark, their power entirely drained. The seven large gems settle gently to the floor and rest there for a moment before crumbling into piles of very expensive dust. As they crumble, everyone can feel the collective fade away.

Phaezeriel then extends a hand in Vai's direction and her necklace floats through the air towards her.

With a smile for Nasima, How do you feel?

::We bring it back. This is an immense amount of energy. Not only could we use it for quite a while, but I would like to keep it out of potential enemy hands.::

Jim teleports to the portal with Aananda, bringing the machine with them, and soon stepping through.

Sorry I haven't been on to post. I'll be gone for a little while, now, but I'll be back fairly soon.

Aananda shifts as she steps through the portal and helps Jim carry the heavy machine into a safe corner of the lab.
