The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Once everything is settled, he follows a line (normal invisible, but seen under magical analysis) through the robe with one hand, typing things into the machine with the other. He double checks his work and hits a submit button. The whole box glows with runes as gears start to turn, lowering two nozzles that project a magical beam over the illusion of the watch, first filling in the skeleton in regular mythrill, adding the runes to the inside of the brace. Then they tint it black and add the scale pattern and three buttons with pictographic labels in red. When the whole ordeal is done, the product gets lowered to the bed of the box and Lenny picks it up in a gloves hand, inspecting the handiwork of his machine.
"Perfect. It won't fit you now, but once it's enchanted, it'll resize like any other magic object, so you won't have any problems. I don't know if you sweat when you're transmuted by this, but if you, make sure you prestidigitize this once a day or it'll corrode. That's the downside of a model this big."

He looks up to Tybalt. "How's the ritual comin', fuzzball?"

Tybalt is bent over on the floor carefully arranging a few last hunks of crystal for the material cost of the ritual. "Juuuust aboooout... Done." He stands and snaps his finger causing all the candles to light in a sparkly blue-purple flame that's about as far from looking like fire as fire can be. He still, however, inches away from them slightly.
"All ready to go."

"Good, good. I'd forgotten how handy having an apprentice around was." He chuckles and elbows Dave a little. The weathered artisan steps into the circle, placing the watch in one of the inner circles and the robe, neatly folded in another.
"I'm a bit past the age for waving and chanting, so I'm going to be leaving this to you, fuzzball. You still have that incantus I gave you?"

Tybalt pads at his pockets and produces a small book that he unfolds several times into a larger one, about the size of an antique Bible.
"Good, good. Show me what you've learned, then, son."
He smiles and takes a seat as Tybalt inhales and exhales, looking to Dave before he starts.

"Ooh, sorry Charlie. No can do. Afraid it's out of my hands now, but as a consolation prize, I'll tell ya what ya can do."

He leans over to An as an aside. "I even went to all the trouble of making it rhyme, and he still didn't listen. Mortals." He exaggeratedly rolls his eyes and turns his attention back to the angry, diminutive man.

Jasper produces a pair of glasses and clipboard, looking over the glasses as he reads from the board in an official sounding voice, "You've been charged with aggravated aggravation, minion bullying, insect enslavement, assault and beettery, and general dislikability. How does the court find you?"

He sidesteps, now with his hair piled up high in rolls stacked in a curly updo, holding a very small version of his war hammer. "Guilty!" He knocks the hammer on the back of the board. "I hereby sentence you to either honestly, earnestly, pleasantly apologize to this lovely you miss that you have wronged, or to life in this predicament of your choosing. May the gods have mercy on your soul."

He tosses the whole collection of props behind him nonchalantly as they vanish into white smoke and he returns to his previous hairdo, standing next to Andromeda.

It was all An could do not to burst out laughing during Jasper's antics, although she couldn't quite stop her mouth from twitching slightly as she held in her mirth.

The fey looked despairingly from Jasper to An and then down at the ground. It felt sick to its stomach. Apologizing went against its very nature. But if it didn't, then it would spend the rest of its life as a pariah. He liked being a bully. It was fun. And profitable. But this...this wasn't what he had in mind. Even his own henchtrolls were afraid of him now and not in a here's all the money and what else can we do for you boss kind of way. He ground his teeth and pulled his hair.
"I.....I.....I'm......s...s....s....so.........sorry pleaseforgivememisspleaseyagotta," he mumbled desperately.

An raised an eyebrow and looked over at Jasper. She was tempted to ask the guy to repeat himself, but then she saw how miserable he was and shook her head. She didn't have it in her to torture anyone, not even this guy. She remembered too well how it felt from the other side. She sighed. "Alright, I forgive you. Just don't do it again. I mean it. No more picking fights with random people when they're not even being rude to you," she said sternly.

a somewhat humanoid dragon creature drags himself unto the grounds. His left leg is stiff and barely seems to respond, doing most of his walking with his left. His scales glisten in all the colors of the rainbow, shifting and changing their colors as the lighting changes. His scales also strangely seem to resemble full plate, as if his flesh were made of a skintight suit of dragon-themed armor. He's rather delibrstly come more or less alone, and he hobbles himself towards the school. He shifts his bag a bit as he approaches, making sure it's still on properly.

There was a flicker of annoyance that passed across the twins' faces before they pasted on matching smiles. "Of course. We will wait just outside," they said, exiting gracefully.

"Eh, good enough for you, it's good enough for me."

He stands, hands on hips and arms crossed and delivers one last oration.

"With apology served and forgiveness given, your sentence shall now be re-written. No more fear in hearts you'll strike, if this miss you'll be alike. When forgiveness is sought of you, give in earnest and quickly too. Take this lesson to your heart, never from you let it part. It is revoked."

With a clap of thunder, the enchantment falls away, leaving him as his normal self, hopefully slightly changed.

"So, you about ready to head back?"

He turns to Andromeda and his smile is back with hands in pockets like none of that had even happened.

"In that case, shall we have tea? Mazia did say that's what you invited me here for."

he smiles, just a bit.
"Of course, this Probobly isn't just a soical call."

She led the way around the outside of the school through the gardens to a small wrought iron table with two chairs. There was a tea set already laid out, ready for their meeting.

Ryleh gestured for him to sit and began the process of making the tea, each action and gesture carefully measured and not to be hurried.

After double checking to make sure they had everything they needed, Jeran closed the log book and put it away before picking up a pile of parts to carry back to the lab. "Kuros is a good place for getting used to being around people. They're used to strange there too what with the school being here and the factories and everything. It'll be fun," he said, encouragingly.

"Yeah. I don't really get out of the lab enough, let alone into town."

He hefts the parts as they head, not taking too long before they get back to the alchemy lab. He shuffles Jigglypuff's top side a little as they pass by.
"Ok, so, what first?"

Jeran patiently points out each part that needs to be replaced and walks Kevin through how to do it, making sure that Kevin gets plenty of chance to do it himself so he'll know what to do if it happens again. While he's doing that, he's also adding several pieces on and attaching something into the wiring of the tank. He doesn't really explain what he's doing unless specifically asked.

"Yeah, I think so. We got what we came here for, and had fun looking around. Time to go before we wear out our welcome," she said with a cheerful smile. "Plus it's still early....I might just have time to get the rest of my things and move into a normal room in the normal part of the school. It would be nice to be settled in. It would feel more like I'm really back, not just visiting conditionally."

Male Icy Catfolk Image Warlock/Rogue 16

Tybalt smiles back softly and takes a deep breath, picking something that resembles a long tuning fork in his left hand as he holds the book in the crook of his right.
He stands between the two object, gesturing to both before he starts into an incantation, the feeling in the room slowly building into an electric hum as he chants line after line. With each syllable the runs on the floor start to glow one by one, first around the robe as it glows with power, the ley lines in it blowing a faint grey, slowly building to a white light as the cat coaxes the magic out of it and the robe rises into the air as if worn by an invisible figure. With one smooth strike, he taps the tuning fork wand on a smaller circle that was a part of the ring around the robe, making the fork ring a soft note at the same tone as the hum in the air. With it ringing, he delicately pokes a the point on the robe he'd shown as the original of the magic pattern, lifting it onto the wand and pulling it out gently. An etheral line of runes is slowly pulled from the robe as if it were unraveling, but leaving the robe itself intact. As if guiding a long, floating ribbon, he pulls the magic pattern softly through the air as the watch rises. He guides the lagging end of the magic to the base of the watch, slowly winding it around and around its new ley line, runes finding their new home inside the metal vessel. With the end attached to the fork pain down, he gently twists it 90° and pulls it away, silencing the fork against a rune circle at the base of the watch. He gives a decrescendo to the incantation as the components start to float gently back down into place, folded and on the floor once more as the fairie fire candles meet the end of their wicks and vanish, leaving nothing behind.
Tybalt exhales, closing his eyes and looking peaceful for a long moment before throwing both fists in the air in celebration, breathing a bit hard out of focus and concentration.

His former master smiles and applauds softly.

Kevin follows along, pretty competently, making a few notes on basic repairs. He crooks his head a little as Jeran starts to repair things that didn't come up earlier.
"What are you putting in there? I thought it was only these two parts that needed replaced."

"Hey, I can help us move out of ya like. Gotta put these to use."

He goofily flexes one set of arms up and one down, briefly becoming super jacked before deflating like a balloon to his normal size.

With it decided that they were off, he gives some finger guns at the fey. "Have a nice life."

And with that, they're gone, back at the school presumably.

They will try and trip you up, find ways to humiliate you, all while making themselves appear perfectly innocent. That they were assigned this task is...not a very good sign," Tyrrin said in the clipped tone that she always used when she was worried. "However, I suspect that Fei has something else pertinent to share?"

"Oh, yeah, this isn't part of the normal repairs at all. This is what I was talking about before. I'm adding an extra containment field around the inside of the tank so you won't have a repeat of the same problem. It's easier to explain it once it's all done since this is really complex. And I'll have to show you how to turn it off as well since once it's operational, you'll need to switch it off any time you need to do maintenance on the tank. This part is really just a lot of electrical work. If it breaks, you probably won't be able to fix it yourself. That's why I said it would make the tank harder to repair. But you can ask me for help if you ever need it, and given time you can probably learn how to fix it yourself, too," he said, looking up from where he was threading wire through the grid.

They appeared back in the school in a corridor that seemed to be pretty far from the normal sections. "You're welcome to help me move if you like, but there isn't really that much to pack. My dance bag. A couple of favorite outfits. That's pretty much it. Ephebe already got most of the sentimental stuff," she said with a grimace. "I think I still have an old photo frame. And that's about it. Come on. You can come see if you want. It's a pretty generic room now. It always was really. The house is like that. It's not all elaborate like the school is. It was here first, and it has a certain way that it likes to stay."

a somewhat humanoid dragon creature drags himself unto the grounds.
What appears to be a human woman wearing a voluminous skirt and short jacket, her dark purple hair pulled back severely into a bun at the nape of her neck, held in place with a jeweled pin, is waiting for him just outside the front door of the school. She is tiny, her heart shaped face and almond shaped violet eyes giving her an appearance that seems almost doll-like. But she holds herself with a level of dignity and confidence that makes it clear that she is not to be taken lightly. She nods in acknowledgement of his presence and waits for the new arrival to speak.

Havel straightens up, and bows politley.

"I'm searching for the dragons I was informed of."
he sighs.
"And I apologize in advance for how much of a mess I'm sure mazia and zanthos caused."
Her lips twitch slightly at the apology. "You have found that which you seek, then. I am Rylehtin'akksavith, though in usual human form it is often shortened to Ryleh. They do love their nicknames. What makes me giggle is the fact that what Ryleh considers a "youngster" could be a creature nearly a millenium old.

"The church of the....." her face twitches a little and it isn't entirely clear what emotions are being suppressed, but even Ryleh's self control is not enough to maintain an entirely serene countenance through that. "Oh, my poor son-in-law. I don't think he ever imagined his name being taken in vain like that....And James mustn't ever be told of this. He has a big enough head already," she managed to say after a long pause.

"Havel....you are still young, as you say, so I am sure that you don't realize how difficult it is to hear what you have to say. You don't remember the times before....There is a great deal of history that you simply don't know. If you and your group find some comfort in aspiring to the ideals of dragons, even to the point of taking on physical features, that is your right as sentient beings to choose your own path. I wouldn't dream of impeding that choice. But, please, do not set up my family as objects of worship. We are, ourselves, simply sentient beings trying to survive as best we can. We make mistakes. We are not divine beings, any more or less than any other sentient creature is." It would be impossible to miss the sadness on her face at this point and she makes little attempt to hide it.
She took a long sip of her tea and then refilled the cups. "You and your group are more than welcome to come here to Avalon. The thirteen you spoke of as well as Elegy and yourself. This school is more than equipped to handle their education. And I think that for your group the proximity to actual dragons is perhaps for the best all around. You can see for yourselves what real dragons are like in a day to day setting. And you could have a chance to tend to your own education, perhaps relax a bit, knowing that the younger ones were well looked after. That is what the school is here for. The Headmaster could tell you as much if he weren't having one of his fits of mysteriousness at the moment," she said, rolling her eyes. "There's no talking to Ryo once he starts in with the brooding."

If Ehos could have snorted, he would have. 'TYPICAL' flashed across his data pad. 'The right hand never knows what the left hand is doing, they say. Happens every time the civil and military authorities meet up. Turns into a pissing contest and the soldiers are left trying to sort out the details'

Tyrrin frowns. "Hmm. Yes, it is very inefficient. But certainly worth keeping an eye on. My brother spent time serving in the military after our father died, so he would know better than I what is usual for them," she said primly. "As for the Chamberlain and his little terrors, I have never had any reason to suspect him of actual insubordination, but certainly he and my mother butt heads on a regular basis. He disagrees with a number of her policies, and isn't above using his children to help create an embarrassing situation that he could use to put pressure on her to do things his way. It is important that he not be given that opportunity."
