The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

The gate led to the edge of a large meadow that was currently filled with people milling around. At the far end there was a raised stage, decorated with ribbons in autumnal colors. There was a small contingent of guards waiting there to greet them.

The leader of the guards approached Tyrrin and saluted respectfully. "Lady Tyrrin. Lord Ehos," he added, acknowledging Tyrrin's brother as something of an afterthought. "The High Seer has asked that we escort you and your guests," he said, with only a little bit of a sneer as he glanced at Jaiye, "to her pavilion at once."

Tybalt looks at his paw as the sigil fades in, looking like black fur on the back of his white gloves paws. He snrks and pads once at Dave's chest.

"Could at least buy me dinner first before deciding we're mated."
He's joking of course, and Dave would remember Tybalt talking about how mate bonding ceremonies in his Homeland involve patterns traced magically over the hands of the two being joined.

He smiles slyly with his hands on his hips, his crook between two of his fingers. "So, ready to go the the market, Mr. Baneko?"

David blushes madly and retracts his hand as though burned "I didn't mean... I- That wasn't what I was trying to- it's just a spell"

"Hmm.....I think if we take a right here," she said, pointing down a path that led into the back corner of the cavern. "I have a good feeling about this way. Not that my hunches are remotely reliable, but since we're just browsing, it should be fine," she said, smiling, as she headed down the most ominous looking path in the whole place.

The lighting was much darker in this section, a fact that seemed lost on An as she wandered through several booths as they went. There was a metalworking booth manned by dwarves all dressed in black with hair and beards also dyed the darkest shade of black and thick eyeliner around their eyes. The goods were beautiful, but An shook her head when she examined them. Not the right thing. Then there was a tent where mushroom people were selling various charms on strings. She looked through all of them, but didn't find exactly what she wanted, although she did find something that she thought might be good for her mom, so she bought that. Then she ended up stopping by a cart that was run by tiny moth-like creatures selling scarves and such. Still nothing for Dave, but she did make a couple more purchases.

She handed Jasper a tiny package when she stepped out of that shop. "Sorry I'm taking so long. I still haven't found anything for Dave. But I did find something for you. I know it looks tiny, but it's this amazing fabric that folds down really small and is so light it's like air. It's actually a cloak with a really big hood....I thought it might help with those times that were kinda eeeeeh," she said imitating his motion from earlier when he was describing his agoraphobia. "Since it's easy to carry folded up and all."

Jasper follows Andromeda through all of the shops, glancing at the wares. He doesn't quite pick up as much as her, but he gets a set of Feather Tokens on a string from the Fun Guys, that he wears as a necklace.

He mostly follows on next to her, conversing all friendly like and continuing to make jokes with things from the various stalls.
When she presents him with the hooded cloak he smiles much more genuinely than normal, not to put on a show, but actually happily surprised at the gift. He hugs her with both sets of arms, lifting her off the ground a little bit.
"Thank you so much. This is the most thoughtful thing."

"It kind of feels like jello, but warm. Is it supposed to be warm or is that just because it was just made?" he asked.

"Hah, I've probably heard the word 'interesting' about my work as many or fewer times than you've seen an ooze."

He laughs a little, and takes a bag of kibble looking things from under the counter and offers a few to Jeran to give to the slime.
"He's cooling off right now. Usually they're room temperature, but there are some that are made of lava or ice. Would you maybe wanna keep him? They're probably the lowest maintenance pets ever, and I can help you feed him the right amount so he won't split."

Tybalt waves his paws dismissively. "No, I understand. Don't worry about it, man. Just messing with you." He laughs and pats the aasimar on the back. It was such an odd turn around for him to be the embarrassed one for once.
"Sorry, probably not the best thing for me to joke about given recent events."

David shakes his head "ah no... it's fine, let's just forget about it for now, and head off to the market"

"Low maintenance is good. I don't get a lot of free time between classes and the planetary defense stuff. It's kinda weird to think about having a pet," he said with a self-conscious laugh. "I mean, it's not the most common thing among lycans. Jorge used to joke that we were our own pets. ....I never much liked Jorge. ....which is totally beside the point. Sorry. Ummm.....yeah, a hat wearing pet ooze. He's definitely cute," Jeran said, eager to change the subject after his unintentional trip down a nasty side alley of memory lane.

The cat giggles and offers his paw for the teleporting.

"I can make myself forget if you want, but that means I'd probably just say it again." He nudges Dave a bit, trying to help him recover. Once the two are ready, Tybs will port them to the edge of the marketplace in Sindria he mentioned earlier.

Dave's blush, which he had been able to wrestle down returns again at his words. He places his hand on the Cat's shoulder to join the teleporting and doesn't say anything as they travel, just looking around at the shops

Kevin smiles as he accepts, taking a glass box sort of like a terrarium out of a corner.

"No worries. We all have one of those people in our lives. My step brother got no end of enjoyment out of taking my lab stuff and seeing what would explode when you mixed it together."
He sets the box on the table.
"Thanks for taking him. I have a soft spot for these guys, but I have my hands full trying to keep this rascal from splitting and having his copies run off to poison people."
He holds a kibble up to his coat pocket and a little orange slime peeks out to take it from his hand before sinking back in.
"And it uh... It would be nice to see you two sometimes..."

Tybalt is also mostly silent, inwardly berating himself for having killed the fun time they were having before.

The market itself is massive and styled after a middle eastern bazaar, but with an island nation flair, the whole small country being on one island. The people around are mostly human, but with one or two members of other races mixed in here or there, so the pair don't stick out too much.
Tybalt goes about getting things he needs for the spell transferring ritual: candles(made to burn with farie fire to the same affect as normal), ritual salts, herbs, and other components.
He lights up a little bit as they pass a jewelry dealer, something that never fails to catch his interest in any mood.

adon's reaction to the contact is a rather sudden, shaky, and nervous hug, and quite a bit of gibbering, most of it in common, but far from all of it.

Sadie pats him on the back, returning the hug, waiting for him to get things together enough to be coherent again. She was pretty sure he was due an emotional breakdown or three. It had been a rough couple of days.

after quite a while, adon manages to recover. It's odd, it seemed like he was crying, but there were no tears. No moisture at all, for that matter.

"... I'm sorry. Lost my composure. Won't happen again."
"Pfft. Of course it'll happen again. We all fall apart now and then. It's normal. And that's part of what friends are for. To help you put the pieces back together when you fall apart. I care about you. I don't mind. And I hope that you'll be there to return the favor when it's my turn to fall apart," she said, smiling reassuringly. "I'd offer you a handkerchief, but you don't seem to need it. I guess that's a side effect? Since it's affecting your eyes and all," she said, letting him know she noticed, but trying not to make too big a deal of it in case he was feeling sensitive about that.
"Uh, yeah... I don't have tear ducts anymore. Or eyes. Just this static mess. I see fine, so... It's not a big deal."
"Well, that's different. But that's not too bad. Like you said, you can still see. I mean, it's an adjustment, but...it's not really so big as these things go. I'm kinda starting to get used to the static eyes now. I bet by next week they'll seem totally normal."

"I hope so." Adon looks at his fingers. "Because it's not the only thing. Have a mirror anywhere? Because whenevee i see my relfection, there are a few, other things."

He sets her back down gently, a little shy about his sudden outburdt breaking his normally cool persona.

"So, uh, any ideas now? Gonna have to find something pretty great to top thi- oh, $#!+." He goes to waggle the mirror, losing his grip on it for a second and practically juggling it between his hands, almost tying himself in knots before he finally managed to catch the edge just above the ground. He exhales and silently pays for a cut of velvet to wrap it in before looking away embarrassed and pointing it at the bag of holding as if to say "please just put it away."

She takes the mirror and puts it in the bag with the other packages, grinning at his unaccustomed show of clumsiness. "Well, I guess I'm just hoping that something will jump out at me," she said, turning around just a little too quickly and accidentally bumping into a winged gnome looking guy with brightly colored hair and even brighter clothes. His expression quickly turned ugly. "Oh! I'm so sorry," she said apologetically. "My bad. I should have looked before I stepped."

The gnome guy sneered angrily. "Yeah, you should have!" he screeched. The two trolls that were following him took a step forward. "Nobody messes with me!" He pulled out a strange looking gun with an odd bulge at the back and a trumpet shaped barrel.
An held up her hands, trying to talk him down. "Hey, I said I was sorry! There's no need to take it so personally. I'm not trying to cause any trouble."
"Well, you found trouble!" he screeched, firing the weapon which produced a large swarm of bees that all headed towards An.
She took a step back and that's when the whole world suddenly went into slow motion. At least that's how it felt to her.
From the outside, it looked like she took a step back and then sort of blurred into a streak of light that ended up bouncing around the entire cavern like a sort of super speed pinball while the bee swarm tried and failed to keep up, gradually dissipating as it couldn't find its target. The gnome thing stood there open-mouthed, before turning to the trolls and yelling," Do something!"
[I]The first troll scratched his head.
"Too fast for bees means too fast for trolls," it said slowly. The second troll just nodded.

"Errr.....I ....thought that Elders retired to live in quiet contemplation....pursue spiritual development?" Magmus asked, dredging up all his courage in the face of these rather intense individuals.

"Ha! Tell me another one! Quiet contemplation! Is that what you call it? Try centuries of backbreaking labor! Foolish children! Did you think those old mechanisms ran themselves?! I was rejoicing when you finally came to your senses and abandoned the wretched place. We were going to have to call an evacuation ourselves soon enough if you hadn't done. That satellite was never intended to actually orbit! Do you have any concept of the wreck that was making of the air filtration systems?! the woman called Eleadora demanded.

The large man with the mustache winced. "It was an important part of our history, Ellie. I still think that blowing the whole thing up was a bit much."

Eleadora glared at him. "A historically important death trap is still a death trap. Trying to preserve it is foolishness! I have no time for sentimental nonsense! And neither do the rest of you. The temperature in this region is already dropping and we are living in tents! We need to find a more welcoming climate that can accommodate all of our people. Then you can argue about systems of governance and law until you drop, but survival is the first priority!"

"How arrogant!" a voice called out from the crowd. "As if what we were arguing over wasn't also about survival! How can we do anything when we can't even trust each other!" the crowd parted to reveal a fragile looking woman, pale with pale blonde hair and supporting herself on a cane. She stopped, her body wracked with coughs as she struggled to breathe.

There were murmurs through the crowd as some recognized the appearance of the reclusive Lady Niyambi.

But I have one that I used to carry, if I haven't lost it.....got it!" she said, pulling out a battered and dusty compact from the bottom recesses of her bag. "I hope it's not broken," she added, as she handed it to Adon.
adon takes the mirror, and holds it near his hands. His fingers reflect as static wreathed claws, consuming his fingers wholly in the reflection.
"Whoa. That must make brushing your teeth kinda surreal," she said as she looked at the reflection over his shoulder.

he sorta bears his teeth, and holds the mirror near them. The're razor sharp in the reflection, and the same static as the claws are made of. Then he holds it a bit farther away, pointing behind him, showing some rather indistinct and blobby static wings.

"It's an utter mess. I really hope I never end up looking as feral as mirrors seem to think I'll be."

"Weeeeel, maybe it's like lycans? I mean they can look pretty feral in their animal form. Plenty of sharp teeth and so on there too. But they also have a normal looking form. That wouldn't be so bad. And, uh, I'll be sure to let you know if you have any food stuck in your teeth. Since mirrors are apparently not going to help with that anymore."

"... Hmm. Maybe."

adon looks at his hands for a while.
"You ever spoke to a lycan?"

"Not much, but some. I got into some fights with some last year. Pretty sure Jeran would answer your questions if you wanted to ask about stuff. At least, that's the impression I have of him."

Sadie shrugged. "I was dealing with some anger issues poorly and they were picking on Zren and Rikken. Not my best self that's for sure, and I ended up in a situation that made me take a long, hard look at what I was becoming. And I realized that becoming a monster wasn't the answer."

he smiles a tad less.
"Sorry to hear that."

Tybalt gestures to Dave's current appearance.
"You don't always look like that, though. Plus, I don't think anyone can ever have too much shiny stuff."
Tybalt examines some gem stones set in necklaces, holding a few up to the light.

"There are people that collect bugs?" Jeran asked, surprised at the idea. "Like, not to eat? Just to keep them?" He shook his head, trying to get past such a strange idea. "And there's nothing really wrong with being a jello dragon. It's a little hard to read your body language and such....it's....there's not the same kind of smell....it's kind of a wolf thing. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually. Basically I should stop talking now before I make more of an idiot of myself," he says, turning away and rubbing the back of his neck.

The dragon laughs and takes the aquarium into his arms.

"No, no, it's uh... It's cute. We can be awkward together, right?"
He adjusts the terrarium as the jelly blob shifts to one side, almost losing his hat before Kevin adjusts it back the other way.
"You wanna take him back to your room?"

The gnomelike creature made a panicked "Urk!" sound as he found himself very suddenly outclassed and overpowered.

"I wish to be respected and feared," he squeaked out in spite of his own better judgment.

An inhumanely loud voice rings through the gnome's mind, unheard by any other.

"Respect and fear you wish to gain, your greatest wish is now your bane. Any creature creature should you near, shall turn and run or fight in fear. If you wish to change your fate, to the lady you will fall prostrate. It. Is. Granted."

There's a clap of thunder and the gnome will suddenly find himself sans hand on his shirt, falling to the ground along with his companions. When the dust clears, Jasper is nowhere to be seen, and the when trolls look at him, they scream and back away on the ground until they can scramble to their feet and bolt, the same reaction anyone in the market would have.
Scare spell centered on him, making anyone in 20 feet frightened of him.

With the spell cast, Jasper immediately teleports to Andromeda, or at least next to her in that instant if she's still moving.

Tybalt turns a few coins over for a red tiger's eye stone set in a copper amulet and chain that he hops up into a floating position with and drop's over Dave's head.
"It's not extra until it gets in the way."
He smiles and returns to the ground, ready to head to the next shop.

Tybalt finds an enchantment store and starts to pick out the things he needs.
"I only really started changing out the jewelry I wear when I got too much to wear all at once. I think too much is more than two of any kind of piece. Except bracelets. Those are good up to like three on each side."

"It's not like I'm against fighting. I just want to do it for better reasons. Not just because I have a chip on my shoulder. Protecting my friends was a good reason. I just lost track of it along the way. Nobody's fault but mine really. No need to be sorry about it."
