The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

"I should hope not. I don't think I've ever seen Ryleh truly angry, and I don't think I'd want to. I know how I get, I can just imagine her being much worse.

I'm sure your father could talk some sense into your mother. He seems to calm her."

"I can see objects of substance through sound, touch, vibration, heat variation, granularity, and air particles. Because of that, I am completely immune to illusions. Which can be somewhat of a disadvantage." Almost as if to demonstrate his point, Djalos smoothly gets up and nods in the direction of Keme.

"Well, alright then. I'll keep that in mind....er.....but not immune to auditory illusions then? Out of pure curiosity, of course," he said dryly as he led the way to the basement music rooms.

Jacob reaches for the bell, hesitates, glances towards the cookies, then reaches for the bell again before sighing and sitting down.

He nibbles on a cookie.

I'm not actually sure from this post if he's rung the bell yet or not. :)

The two workers startled a bit when Elektra landed right in front of them.

"Who are you?" the first one asked suspiciously.
"Did the boss send you?" the second one asked hopefully.

"Er...yes, he did. I'm sort of an ...advance scout. So I'm supposed to tell him what's going on...er, what's going on?"

"Well.....I'm not sure we rightly know exactly. There were power fluctuations. And then machines turning themselves on and off and then....well, we got chased out by these things....like they weren't big exactly. And I have to admit that we never got a really good look at them. But I think there were a lot of them and they had control of the machinery, and so we evacuated. Not really sure what else to do," the more hopeful one admitted, looking a bit crestfallen at the idea.

Ghalen walks up as they begin to report to Elektra.

"Are these things in just one building? Is this happening in others? Do you know if the local constabulary has been notified? Don't want to be worried about friendly fire in there, if these things are hostile."

"Mostly building two, I reckon. Though I guess there was some activity in building one. And the light were flickering in building three, so I'm guessing the varmints got in there too. As far as the local constabulary is concerned, well, for one, I'm not sure if they've hired any replacements yet, but whatever help comes from town won't be here for at least another quarter of an hour, and that's if someone ran quickly for help. Folks weren't running much after they got out of the buildings. More like confused ambling."

Jacob decided not to ring the bell.

Djalos appears to think for a moment while following Keme. "That depends. Most auditory illusions are created by casters who have no real experience with fluid dynamics and sound waves. They sound inherently fake, and if the sound is going directly into my mind, I can automatically detect it because it doesn't move the air particles. However, more powerful casters can make it sound more real, either through intense study and application of physical principles or instinct and experience."

"So noted," Keme said thoughtfully. "I will keep that information in mind."

"Okay," he said, flipping the light switch on in an unoccupied music room. "Here we go. There are several of these rooms actually. They're all similarly equipped. You just use whichever one isn't currently in use. You should be able to find the other rooms pretty easily based on what you described to me about how you navigate. They're all along this same corridor here that I led you to. They almost never move. Only for special events if there's something big going on in the basement."

Once Miss Jones was finished with her examination of Tryko'Sam, Maya dragged him off determined to get answers based on what Miss Jones had been able to find out. Andromeda bid them a cheerful farewell, satisfied that she had done her good deed for the evening.

And now she had another promise to keep.

She teleported to a strange room....no, a hangar bay of some sort....underneath the school? Well, close enough. She was standing on the deck of a ship. Ah, and there was Dave.

"Hey. Nice boat. This yours? I...probably should have asked before just popping in. Sorry. Sometimes I just sort of get ahead of myself. I really should let my brain catch up before I act. Umm....so I can just go if you'd rather..."

"Thank you." Djalos takes a step forward, then pauses for a moment, apparently collecting his blindsight. He then strides towards the viola, and picks it up.

Slowly, tentatively, he draws the bow across the strings, making a horrible screeching sound. He winces slightly, then tries again. Slightly better. Then he begins trying in earnest, starting to sound like a beginner.

Dave is seriously getting a kick out of her questions, well, to put it simply, normally yes but it's damaged, magic, Gravity affecting magic, it doesn't, magic, and it re-enters relatively slowly, but in all seriousness this thing is something of a work of art, I've been fixing it for years and I still don't know all of how it works, the drive core is ridiculously old and enchanted in a way that isn't generally practiced any more, so finding references on how it works is a tad tough, And when you do find them they're usually in weird and/or mostly dead languages like Gith or Old High Netheril or whatever, the library here has been a real boon, not to mention the supply materials, I'm used to having to sell off old feathers or sell my services to pay for crafting materials" he bends over to pick up bit of gold and a soldering iron designed for runic engravings "now then, did you come here to marvel at my equipment or was there another reason for your visit, don't get me wrong, I'm all for the marveling, if a pretty girl as smart as you wants to hang out and talk shop I'm not one to turn her down"

"Anyways, I'm not much help with magical stuff. Well, aside from the odd clerical spell. I grew up around mechanical stuff, so I know the basics of how that works. But magic is not my forte. Not really sure what my forte even is, to be honest. But I can usually help with historical research. Let's just say I have access to the very best tool for that. Being Champion of Time had to have some benefit," she added with a grin.

It's why, historically speaking, we always get into so much trouble," she said with a shrug.

Mom made a small version, well also a medium small version that can be used for a shuttle or smaller craft, but a very small version that can be worn by a person. Very useful. Puts teleportation to shame with the sheer distances it can cover. Thankfully the Empire doesn't have that technology yet. They still only have the big ones for very big spaceships. The oddly sonorous chime sound that, apparently on impulse, accompanies a certain tuxedo patterned catguy rings through a few meters away from conversing pair. Dave had learned the sound, but still isn't entirely sure what causes it. The possibilities he's narrowed it down to are that it's a courtesy he had adopted or that it was the settling of his jewelry on arrival, as it notably missing any time the playful cat has attempted to surprise the far too perceptive hybrid.
Despite the reasons as to how or why, the chime sound is followed by the shifting of things in a cardboard box and the teenage and well accented voice.

"Hey shiny. I brought some of the stuff for the robe and watch switching thing. I got the candles and some- oh, uh, should I come back another time?"

He seems surprised to see anyone else there as turns the corner around the boat, approaching the gang plank and seeing someone in addition to who he expected. He stops half way through shuffling through some strange herbs as he looks up to see the other dragon there.
Today he's wearing a black v-neck shirt and some loose fitting pants in a patchwork style, obviously self made incuding the fact that nothing has any seams. Layered over is his usual and ever changing set of jewelry.

The feline fella nods to Andromeda as they're introduced and does his best not to make a goof of himself when Dave glances at him with the dragon eyes on and complements him. "Oh, uh, thanks. Ya, I made these. They're more comfortable without seams, but not many people make them this way, so I do them. I could do some for you if you want." He does keep his cool for the most part, but can't help the slight tinge of blue on his white cheeks and the flick of his tail he gets when he's trying not to be awkward. He tries.

"Nice to meet you. Sorry if I don't shake hands, but trust me when I say you don't want that either."

He raises an eyebrow at the conditions the two met under, but isn't surprised by too many things since he started school here. Or really before that even from things he saw in his travels beforehand.

"Well, I'm glad you two've worked out your differences? And trust me when I say you're in good company. I've been the king of awkward for quite a while... Or I guess prince technically, since I'm not married, obviously... Well, not officially despite that one thing happening on... where was it again?... A very warm planet. I can't remember the name."

"I can vouch for her not being a psychopath and for my having made the mistake, though I don't regret my actions, they were the best ones I could make with the information avalible at the time, and if I hadn't made those mistakes I wouldn't have met Andromeda.... My patron also claims to have baited me into coming by telling me to stay away from you, Andromeda, but really I just was trying to save Tybalt... Who I later learned wasn't even in trouble...." He blushes slightly and tries to cover that by taking the tool in his hand and embossing a rune of gold into the siding of the ship "anyway Tybalt, you know I'll always accept any clothing gifts from you, I've rarely found your equal in that regard, nd never for the prices you tend to charge."

I'm kinda of keeping a running commentary going so she's up to date on exactly what's going on."

Apologies, Casseus. That was the best I could do with not actually knowing you are the new constable of Kuros. (^-^)

"That is Good to know. We should be landing in two minutes," Fei replies as he readies disembark the shuttle.

"Alright, let's go."

"So many will die...it's shame." you're pretty sure he's talking about Empire forces, more than Agarthans.

"Oh, no worries. I've been the version of me that talked you into it, and I can tell you she's all kinds of trouble. Very manipulative. Growing up as an only child was definitely not good for her. Still not really sure why she was on the other side, though. I mean, if you're on the same side as Aurix, that's a pretty good sign that you are on the wrong side."

"Ummm.......anyways..... uhhh, you make clothes, Tybalt. That's pretty cool. Not a skill I've ever mastered. I mean I can alter clothes no problem. Enchant them easily. But making them from scratch tends to end with awkward things like the tutu that was only fluffy on one side. So I totally respoect being able to make actually wearable clothes from scratch."

I expect the situation will be resolved one way or another before Casseus could even get there. Trying to keep things simple. :)

"I'm gonna need to know more about this Aurix guy, I like to know who's pulling the strings, makes it easier to burn them if need be, but yeah, Tybalt's great with clothes, and not a bad enchanter, we've recently got it in our heads to transfer the enchantments in my robe into a metal watch or bracer... It'd have to be my left arm, as my right is currently occupied by this little snake homoculous here,"

When Dave blushes, Tybalt does as well, putting one hand on his hip and the other behind his head, looking away. Maybe the two would have to settle for being vice-chairmen of the Awkward kingdom, at least in regards to each other. His hand positions leave the cardboard box hanging ponderously in the air for a moment before he catches himself and picks it back up, disappearing for half a second and back again without the box of magic supplies.

"Oh, no problem. I like making presents. And it hardly costs me anything to make, not with all the supplies I get here. Even when I want other tools, I totally don't save up your stray feathers to buy them. Especially not that pair of adamanite scissors I saw in the market the other day..."

He looks left and right, making it obvious that he was 'lying' with the intention of it being obvious.

"I could teach you how to make clothes if it's something you're interested in. The nice stuff like this I use Mending magic to stick fabric back together along the edges. It takes a lot of practice to keep it from just turning back into the sheet you start with. But I can teach you how to do it the regular way too. Maybe you could show me some of your enchanting work in exchange. I've been looking deeper into it now that I have supplies and I'm in one place for more than a couple days."

He moves a couple tools over and takes a seat on a work bench. "So, you were involved in the champion thing last week? I still feel bad about not being able to help. It was like my first day on the job and I'm in the infirmary for the big thing going down."

"Heh, if it makes you feel better, you were the reason I left for it. That's kinda like being involved... You were just the first one incapacitated by the fight"
