Secondly you could try to convince her to join you on some sort of activity that you yourself enjoy, or thirdly you could try to interact with the ground-born students" he raises his hand to forestall her complaints that he knows are coming at that proclamation "it is just an option, I am not saying you have to do it, but that being said, the situation has changed. there is no more sun for us to live in, and it was taken by a group of fire birds, near as I can tell. we must adapt to our situation. right now that means learning to tolerate the presence of those unlike ourselves. you do not have to like them, but being openly antagonistic to those who have done nothing to garner your hatred is unbecoming of you. hate them behind a facade of cordiality if you must, but remember you rule your emotions, your emotions do not rule you" he blinks a few times "I apologize, I was distracted by tangential thoughts."

"Fair enough..." he eats some of the beef enchiladas, then when he's finished chewing asks "What did you want to tell me about?"

She sighed. "Which do I start with? Raelle was kidnapped this afternoon. By her own grandparents no less. She was recovered and is resting in the infirmary. Having to pull her sisters away from their friends to tell them was...not peasant. They've all been through enough already. And I'm starting to despair of Ignace ever getting better when she gets hit with another crisis every time she tries to do something normal," she said with a grimace.

"And the other thing.....I did something. Will do something. It's a two part something. It went wrong. Well, sort of. More like it went horribly right. And it's going to go wrong. Tenses are hard."
"When did you do this? What did or will you do?"

"During lunch hour. Several months ago. Tomorrow. I'm sorry I can't be more specific yet, but some of it hasn't happened from your vantage point. I'm afraid you might try to change it if I tell you the details, and you can't. Or rather you shouldn't. It's going to save millions of lives. At a price. Someone I couldn't save. Who was there because of what I did several months ago. When Taron and Kam flipped the world right side out. The me then didn't really have control of the aschen exactly, but they weren't actually running amok. They were acting on my orders. The ones I gave today. It only looked like chaos. I guess there were problems because of it at one point, so now it's restricted. And how am I supposed to give them a chance? Mama told me not to talk to them. Everything is strange here, and I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I mostly just hang around with Ignace, which is very boring because all she ever does is sew things. All day long. I mean, she's nice enough, but there have to be other things to do," she finished plaintively.
Cindra hands Phaedra a piece of charcoal slathered with a jelly-like mix very similar to napalm, "Well, then I will just have to make a point to visit you more, won't I?"

"Oh, yes, please!" Phaedra said, her expression caught somewhere between almost crying and smiling.

Lucas sometimes forgets the age of the people he's talking to

Whatever Phaedra's response was going to be, it was interrupted by the arrival of a teacher.

"Svarog-kun!" Nanami exclaimed, disapprovingly. "What do you think you are doing? Coffee at your age? No, don't try to argue with me. I have read the handbook and am aware of the differences in firebird diet. And I was told to watch out for this. I do not care what you were allowed at home, drunkenness among students is not tolerated here! Eating the beans straight too! You are going to give yourself caffeine poisoning. It's a wonder you can even stand up straight. That's detention for you. And give me that plate. I am going to make sure that the cafeteria staff know not to give you intoxicants in future," she lectured.
For firebirds alcohol = energy drink, caffeine = thing that makes you drunk. I know I've went over this a few times, including at least once with Lucas when he was getting food in the cafeteria. So a detention to make sure he remembers the rules from now on. ;)

Alys smiles and chuckles at the girl's endless stream of words. It was good that one of them couldn't talk. Alys pauses for a moment to write again, and this time there are far fewer strange characters and scribbled parts.

Perhaps we will test fox sometime. Best back inside wards first. Why you at Avalon?

Sorry, totally lost track of this scene.

What does Nanami teach again?

Cindra rolls her eyes slightly at Lucas' response to Nanami, and catches Phaedra's eye. Her expression seems to comment on Lucas' tendency to always have a response to everything.

"Gomen-ne, Svarog-kun," she said sarcastically, "but I do believe that I am the sensei here and you are not. The rules do not say except in case of doctor's note. A human student would not be allowed alcohol on campus simply because they are immune to poisons. You are no different. And you should have a care for your own reputation, as well as what kind of example you are setting. Things you can contemplate while you are serving your detention."

Nanami is the PE teacher, so everybody is in her class at some point. :)

She shrugged. "My mom sent me here to be safe. Some weird cultist guys were chasing us, trying to capture me for some kinda weird sacrifice stuff. Not exactly the kinda thing you want to stick around for, you know? I guess it's cause my dad was some kinda angel. I keep the wings hidden. For safety reasons, you know, so I can blend in better. But even with that it was getting harder and harder to stay hidden. Mom thought that I would be able to be safe here. Which is why I definitely, positively, absolutely can never let her find out about what happened this afternoon. Like, never ever. She would totally flip."

Lucas actually seems surprised at this and looses some measure of poise. "what? but that? that's ridiculous! nonsensical why wouldn't those immune to the effects have the substance? we as firebirds are immune to the effects of alcohol due to our bodies being designed in such a way that burns the alcohol for greater energy, why are you presenting a grossly unfair false parallel to those who are otherwise immune due to some other quirk of nature or magic?"

"I have already provided an explanation. Too bad you were not listening, Svarog-kun. A failing of yours I have often noted during class. You broke a rule, and now you must face the consequences. Do you wish to learn what the consequences of continuing to argue with me will be?" she asked with a dangerous smile.

Jiminy opens a portal in the wall to an area of deep space with nothing but asteroids in it, keeping half of his concentration on keeping the portal stable while he fielded questions from the other members of the team.

"Take them to the firebird encampment outside Avalon. And release them into the custody of Sorchan del Sol. He'll meet you there. And go easy on the guards. They're not in control of their actions. There's a chance they'll never be in control of their actions again. Won't know for sure until I've had a chance to examine their spell book more closely. But prospects aren't great. And those are family members of your fellow pilots, Sunbeam. Something to be aware of, over," he replied on the radio while Fei funneled the magical energies through the portal.

As soon as the portal opens, Fei begins absorbing the unstable magic from the circle. Absorbing as much as he can immediately to buy them some more time, he then starts discharging the rest through the portal. A plume of silver-white energy erupts from his outstretched hand, casting the inside of the building into a harsh combination of light and shadow.

Fei's nanosuit begins to change color from its current 'tactical' matte black. The normally-emerald lines of 'circuitry' lacing it brighten to the same silver-white of the energy burst, and new lines begin to form as the young monk funnels more and more of the magic from the circle.

"Is that supposed to happen?" Jiminy asked, maintaining concentration on the portal as Fei shunted magical energies through it.

Empire Space

The smart thing to do at that moment, the wise thing to do, would have been to teleport away. Jim and Enre were dead. There was no way they could get the remaining refugees to the extraction point. They should have left then. But Jim and Enre were dead, and grief doesn't necessarily care about what the perfectly logical thing to do would be. Before they even had time to think things through the sound of footsteps filled the corridor as an entire unit of drow closed on their position. Asch reacted. He tore through the front line of them like they were paper, venting his fury as best he could. Amada followed not far behind him. Her pistol flashed again and again, the spells contained in the bullets causing the drow to turn on each other, causing chaos in their ranks. If it had only been the drow they were fighting, they would have won. Against all odds, they would have made it off of the station with the resistance members they were trying to rescue. But it wasn't just the drow. Not this time. This time the drow had been nothing more than a distraction, meant to lure them into staying put. Their last moment stretched out farther and farther as they slowed too much to even get through a whole thought before the station was ripped away around them. By the time their thoughts caught up with events, they were already dead.

Aurix examined his handiwork with a satisfied smile. Yes, this would be easier than expected. These pathetic excuses for Champions were no match for him. He had a holy mission, and this time he would finally fulfill it. The colossal gold dragon vanished, leaving behind the wrecked station without a second thought.

Lucas looks incensed at her accusations and looks like he is either about to strike her or cast a spell of some sort when he suddenly calms down and begins to speak, "ah so now we get to the route of the problem. Your issue with my behavior is not the practical concerns of safety and propriety that the rule was supposedly inspired by, it is the fact that by breaking it I have threatened your authority, well then by all means I shal consent to your little 'detention' as you put it, and I shal forgo eating a perfectly healthy and safe food until I can see sense added to your rule system," with a hand motion the coffee beans incinerate themselves and he then turns his back to the teacher and with practices flippancy "now then where were we?"

She sat with her knees hugged tight to her chest, like she did when she was feeling stressed and upset. "Whole universes are disappearing, Krays. I've seen them. I've been there. I know they existed. But now they don't. And not like they were destroyed. I've seen what the end of everything looks like. Melody took me there when I was small. Not a voluntary trip. More of a look, this is what's going to happen if you don't cut it out, you rotten little brat. Er, don't tell her that. That's still in her future. She's not even on the right regeneration yet. The point being that I know what it looks like when everything goes out. This....this isn't that. There's just nothing there. No hint that something ever was there. Not even an empty space. Just....nothing. Where there was supposed to be something. The further out you go, the less there is. Whatever it is, it's going to get here eventually. And....look, I'm not keeping things from you because I don't trust you, alright? But you're the Champion of Death. You're inside the system. I'm not. And I think that they did that on purpose. I'm not sure if it's because they're afraid one of them is helping the other side, or they just don't want too many cooks in the kitchen. But I'm trying to only tell you about the things I've already done. The ones that can't be changed anymore. To keep Patron politics out of it. I'm supposed to change things. Little things, big things, anything I like. I'm just supposed to change things until the bad universe eating thing doesn't happen. And if I get it wrong.....If I get it wrong, then everything ends, or maybe never was. So a lot of pressure and very little in the way of actual instructions. And right now it's all I can do not to go tell someone, or more than one someone, not to be somewhere tomorrow. But that doesn't work either. They have to be there. It's going to happen. And I can't stop it now. I thought I could save everyone. But I couldn't. It's already in my past."

"You won't be able to destroy it, if that's what you're worried about. And I strongly recommend you find some regenerative clothing. I believe there are students who are capable of making such a thing. Given time I can fashion an item of your own for you that will do the same thing as that scarf does. It can be anything really. A watch, a necklace, a nametag. Whatever sort of item works best for you. But it won't be ready until the end of the weekend. In the meantime, I would suggest having your magical aura analyzed by the abjuration professor. And possibly evocation, divination...well, that would be the headmaster, but if he's not available Professor Ryleh will do as well, Transmutation, necromancy, and so on. If there are other magics working with this enchantment, the easiest way to find them is to consult the experts in all the fields of magic. A relatively simple task here at Avalon."

Marcell doesn't even seem to notice the ball, and yet, another shield springs up to block it, with the other sill floating there. Marcell looks to the new shield.

"Uh."

Zix seems concerned with this development ::that's unusual... You... You aren't maintaining the one spell but repeatedly casting several sequentially... The amount of energy you're simply releasing into the air is astounding... Let me rephrase the intent of the task at hand. You need to manipulate Initial burst of magic into place and hold it there. Do not continue to poor magic into the construct::

Marcell tilts his head, and tries to hold magic in the shield- it starts to glow brightly, as more energy poars in nonethless, getting brighter and brighter, starting to swell.

"Uh."
the shield twitches and pulses, about to explode.

Zix casts a resist energy spel on the both of them before simply waiting and watching to see what happened with the spell.

the shield explodes in a mass of pure magical force, and marcell is sent to the infirmary on the spot.

When the wave of force hits Zix's eyes widen with the realization that his protection spells would be insufficient.
He bats away the wave of magical energy to counter the new spell effect before mentally sighing :: well then...now we know what we have to work with.... Keep the goggles and continue practicing this spell and those in the other books I have lent to you. And for the record, you are required to actually read the entirety of thes books. Continue trying to hold the magic in place, but release it if it gets anywhere close to what we have seen just now... Hmm if the effect could be produced intentionally, and the spell shaped away from the user....::: Zix casts greater detect magic to pick apart the lingering magics.

Ace, utilizing a simple magic spell, floats several large plates piled high with food, and heads into the infirmary making his way to Ginni's isolation room. He then waits for either admittance, or for somebody to come out.

Nanami chuckled. "See you in class, Svarog-kun," she said with an undertone that made it clear to most that he was about to experience a very interesting semester. Not as interesting perhaps as if he had been a shinobi she was training, but nevertheless full of impending discomfort. Until he learned the importance of good manners, at least.

She laughed. "It is a school, Svarog-kun. You should perhaps look up what that means since you appear to be confused," she said before she continued her path through the cafeteria, stopping a couple of tables over to confiscate something that a group of boys appeared to be desperately trying to hide from her.

Image Alternate Image - all dressed up.

Tami came to the door when Ace knocked. "Hey," she said, opening the door enough that he could see past her. Ginni was up and dressed, but struggling to keep her balance on her hooves, and her wings which were much bigger than they used to be were in perpetual danger of knocking something or someone over as she kept flinging them out to keep from falling over. Ryleh and Vai were also present, and Phaezeriel was still in his cocoon."Professor Ryleh says that Ginni should go to the waiting lounge to eat. I can show you the way, and er, help Ginni balance since you have your hands full already. She hasn't been cleared to leave yet, but there's no reason she has to stay in the isolation room anymore."

Ace's grin upon seeing his girlfriend up and about is about a bright as the noonday sun. He takes a moment to check out her new features "Wow Ginni, you look amazing. And awesome. And rather badass" He says, still smiling at her being OK.

"Yea Tami, that would be great. I also got you a plate, just in case"

Lang sat with Ori, enjoying dinner and the evening. Making pleasant conversation, Lang casually brings up the subject of Ori's spirit "companion"

He spends the time explaining everything he has learned in his meetings with the spirit.

You see, what I can gather, is the spirit is a manifestation of your feelings. the more anger you "feed it" the more destructive it becomes.

The techniques I have given you are a way to help you give the spirit a new diet, so-to-speak.

if you like I can bring you into the spirit world and bring you to together. get a chance to share what each of you are experiencing.
