None whatsoever.

Depends on your definition of "trouble", my Lady.

Well... He'd still be burning alive.
And the hostage would probably die.
I mean, I can fix that last part, but still.

So, to start with, Kev can end the Planar Adaptation on Skelly'Sam as a non action because the spell's duration ends in (D).
He can do the same for the gate and the Alterself keeping Kevin human.
Then, as a spell like ability(which has no components and doesn't show when it happens) he can use dimension door as part of the synthesist class.
Now is where the rules(and Kevin) get slightly squishy.
He would be teleporting around Chosen One, keeping her inside and unharmed because of his racial ability to not do damage while holding a creature in a swallow whole. Then his freedom of movement kicks in and Skelly'Sam can't hold them anymore. Think of it like applying butter to a kid caught in the stairway banister. XD
And there's no sign of movement from hI'm until after it's already happened as spell like abilities have no components and ending spells is a mental thing with no action at all.
The part that is really up for the powers that be to decide is whether he can teleport around a creature or if we have to stick to the immediate rules as written which says Kevin gets shunted if he dimension doors into an occupied square. I think that the case is helped some by the fact that he has swallow whole, so there is a place for him to go.
I'd also be fine with him taking the 1d6 if the "shunting" means he gets sent around her(which is the nearest place he can physiologically occupy) and the rest happens as written.
I think it's a creative and interesting way to meet a challenge. It's even less rules light than the last thing I tried. XD

My immediate thoughts are:
1) You have zero control over a spell once it's 'injected' into someone else, since it's a Potion. You can't turn potion powers off. On yourself, sure.
2) Teleporting around someone? no. I really don't believe you can Teleport 'around' someone with Dimension Door as an 'attack', cause that's what you'd be doing. Maybe with some crazy Feats.
3) Swallow whole requires an attack/grapple, iirc-- and remember, Skelly'Sam (cute name) has her already grabbed and prepared to react.
The Teleport thing isn't invisible, so it'd see you coming, but -- creative.
Dimension Door also doesn't 'fail' in it's arrival, so there's no shunting like Teleport, so not really going to worry about you intentionally appearing in the middle of rock. But, I'm pretty sure you can't attack after moving with it. Remember any Su ability is a Standard action. Takes up your round (mostly).
Fun read though.
Heh.

Just tossing in on your point #2 Damiani: there is in fact a feat line for that. The feats Dimensional Agility and Dimensional Maneuvers would probably allow for what was suggested.
Also, if you want to be completely technical, the Caster can choose to end the effects of a potion early just like a normal spell. The reason why Kevin can't end the effects early is because - counterintuitively, perhaps - he didn't cast the spell. Skelly'Sam did. Since extracts are treated exactly like potions (save for they are cast using the Alchemist's class level and spell DCs), then whoever drinks the extract is considered the caster. So only Skelly'Sam has the ability to end it early. The same is not true for Oils - whoever applies the oil is considered the caster.
And since it's Christmas Day now, Merry Christmas!

Those are the Feats I was thinking of. In essence, adding Pounce to Teleport. My chief issue would be the surrounding, or 'plucking' a held/covered person with one's Swallow Whole ability with just movement or a spell.
As for the Oils, I don't agree. The effect is pre-cast when the magic item is created, so it's a 'fire and forget' in a container. Like a LAW rocket, since the effect isn't on your person, or 'maintained' by your aura, God ties, or Will,I don't agree you can shut it off when another has 'consumed' it. That'd be like you shutting another's Magical Armor activation power off as the Creator of that suit.
Plus, I'm pretty sure the Planar Adaption was a Potion versus an Extract (which is rules light) when Kevin used his consume and inject. It's my understanding Extracts mimic Potions, but are not Potions. Lots of people would love (myself included) for them to be Potions for many reasons... Like the Infinite Re-drink Extract/Formula. Heal all day from one Potion you made due to that Eternal Potion Discovery. Fun stuff. Endless Extract use!
Anyways. Fun stuff.

Lurking's about all I've got for the moment. Too much RL work and not enough peeps to do it at the moment. There's enough going on in-game now to make it a non-issue though, so no worries I suppose.
And to those that TOR (or not), a Happy Life Day ;)

I like how Damiani is always tooting the horn of and championing "rules light" over and over since he's been here, so much so that's its almost his mantra.
Until he's running a plot, and that is all RAW, RAW, RAW.
He is concerned about player interactions and people worrying about minutia. In that vein, he's always consistent.
When running a scene, you have to worry about it, unfortunately.| Monkeygod |
Rule of Cool could totally be used to justify Kevin's idea.
Now, if there's actually a plot reason vs a rules reason this shouldn't work, then that's totally different and Dami should let us know.
Also, I'm not saying ignore all the rules, just the ones that are being cited to fully shut Kevin down completely. Ie, the limit on actions with Ddoor are fine, but I see no real reason for Kevin not to do the rest.
I'll put it to you this way: so far, both with the plots I myself am in and some of the others he's narrated, it seems like he goes out of his way to make it so the PCs can't win, or at least not on their own.
Which, kinda defeats the purpose of us being the heroes of the story. Might as well just always call in the teachers and have them save the day or win vs the big bad or solve the problem and we students can become sucky 3rd tier extras in Daminai's plots.
| Monkeygod |
What is exactly is a Goo Dragon? If it's semi ooze like, I think that would help with the flowing around Girl as a teleport. It might take a few actions to fully accomplish everything, but I'm guessing the rules on teleporting weren't written to include ooze like creature using them.

That makes it sound as though it only feels like you're the hero of the story if you can ignore the mechanics.
I understand we have powerful characters, and there is a level of understood pwnage, but what is the point of playing them if every situation we run into is easily surmounted?I don't wish to speak for Damiani, or defend him per se, Lord knows I had Casseus run from this particular plot line because I knew he would get himself killed in it because of his mouth, and being held responsible for other people's F-ups is somewhat of a personal pet peeve of mine, but at least Damiani's still finding ways to challenge and/or present mystery to our ridiculous characters.
He could just as easily "rule of cool" the other way, to benefit the story, then there might be complaints that he's ignoring the mechanics our characters are entitled to.
I'm not trying to start an argument for once, just inviting you to see things from a different angle.
TL;DR: His ability to challenge our characters should be applauded, not seen as negative.

Okie dokie.
I'm back. Family saw Into the Woods.
Quite good. Slightly disappointed with Johnny Depp's part, but that's neither here nor there.
I got the complete Grimm's Fairytales not too long ago, and I have to say I was quite impressed with some of the things they included from them. You should read them before you see it. Like just before, because you think you know them by heart, but you probably don't.

And on to this.
MG, thank you for defending the idea, but if Dami says no, that's really all there is, I guess.
I think it would've been cool and had the capacity to work in a rules light setting. Still do, but if the story arc runner is decided against it, there's nothing really to be done.
If Dami doesn't want his obstacle solved(so quickly, at least) then I'm not going to argue. :)
I may try and use something similar sometime later when under different management. ;)
As it were, just not the time, place, or people.
And I'd rather not debate things on Christmas. :)
And, for the official record, it was an extract with the Infusion discovery applied that was administered to Skelly'Sam.
Not that it matters, per Dami's divine decree, but I felt I should state it. ^_^

I don't see this as any sort of auto win, as Kevin can't Ddoor to the girl, engulf/swallow her whole, and then Ddoor away all in one round. I was never suggesting such a blatant violation/ignorance of the rules.
At *best* I could Kevin Ddoor to the girl, and start a grapple, in first round, and then other stuff on the following round or two.
Also, Kevin would be going after Silinrul, thus possibly changing what Skelly'Sam might do.
I guess I just really have a problem with PCs in a cooperative narrative game being totally shut down and told "NO! BAD PC!", especially considering the rules light nature of this game.
I believe I recall Lyn, and very possibly others, repeating saying compromising is key to this game, especially in combat.

Swag I got for Xmas:
Nightmare Before Christmas plasti cup with straw, magnet and keychain.
The Sworn to Darkness mono black MtG commander deck, and three booster packs from the newest set.
Some good monies, some of which I have already used to buy GotG on Blu-Ray.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 1 box set, which is something I've wanted since it was announced, and waited through they dumb delays for. Its one of the main reasons I got a PS3 :) :) :)

Hey all.
So, other than OOC complaints, and proposed actions by Magic which I commented on from my perspective-- I've the following actions occurring with regards to the Team Hot Guy situation:
1) Settro is going to bail out the opening Portal Kevin created.
2) David speaks telepathically to the team.
3) Skelly'Sam has Chosen One in vice grip, prepared to act.
4) Angelic duo are a bit stunned/surprised (plus they aren't the important characters here).
I'm basically waiting on more, and Lynora's, input and actions, but am not sure if the Holidays will slow everything down until past the New Year, which is fine.
Reminder that talking is free IC (just don't plan to quote War and Peace) and Discussion conversations are not in-game material.
At least, not for me. :)
If we don't see any progress before the New Year, lemme be the first to say, Have A Happy New (and safe) Year.
Best wishes.

I distinctly remember one time when I was DMing in a fairly drunken state and my villain was monologuing. One of my players piped up to interrupt me midway into the monologue saying "Hey.. It's been about 6 seconds right?" To which I conceded that it had indeed been at least a round since the start of the monologue.
"Okay I cast Finger of Death."
One failed fort save later, and my villains no longer monologue.
| Damiani |
Yeah, the abuse of 'speech' and 'free action' is a hotly contentious topic in some parts.
For me, it's usually about six seconds or there about -- telepathy, obviously, allowing it to go MUCH longer with those that have practice in the use of.
Hee hee.
Thanks, Magic-- wasn't sure if you were re-plotting or what.
