we are group of students from Avalon (with a teacher chaperone) that works out of the town (or is it a city) of mentor, doing almost exclusively field work.

I think it was already worked out with Lyn awhile back. with a preset group. all the characters were already worked out and approved as a collaboration (like a package deal)

Yep. We made it in a chatroom someplace.
It's basically the Avalon University pilot program, a sort of fact finding group that's intended to test the viability of establishing a branch school for older students in Mentor. At least that was how it was pitched to me. :)

EDIT: Also, random observation time!
Random observation 1: Is it just me, or does somebody else think that the school and the TARDIS would make a great couple? I mean, they're both sentient, sometimes surly, extradimensional spaces...
Random observation 2: It seems-even though that the Patrons are beyond good and evil-that the ones you'd normally associate with good are kind of jerks (i.e. Light and Hope) and the ones that you'd associate with evil are rather reasonable (Fear, Darkness, Wrath...).
My perspective?
They aren't beyond good and evil.
Just beyond punishment.
