Akiyoshi
Think I can hit that with my +4?
Kn: Nobility: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Success, at least as far as Akiyoshi is concerned. "I think I know that name, you were the national competitive pie eating champion from 4135-4138! Your technique was legendary!"
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Akiyoshi says his next statement cautiously, sword ready to spring into action if needed, carefully waiting for a response.
"These children you speak of... Are they the children of your body... or only of your blood?"
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
The Tomb
She looks at Akiyoshi confused: "Of course they're from my body..? COME HERE MY SWEETHEARTS! THESE PEOPLE HAVE COME TO RESCUE US!!"
She smiles motherly and two young women come rushing out of the darkness, startling you, to come and lay a her feet sobbing and embracing.
The two girls look wretched and famished. Their skin is pale and their features gaumt.
The Tomb
Akiyoshi
"We are not here to save you, but to seek information, and put to an end any of the evils that still haunt this family. Your daughters, may yet perhaps be saved, if they still be among the living. Your breath, however, seems to have long since fled your body. Do you seek to escape this place, or to spread the affliction which you now bear, to these, your daughters, or to others outside the walls of this tomb?"
The Tomb
"B- But I thought you would help me..! Please, you don't understand, they took my children away. They took..." The woman's voice trails off as her shoulders slump and she sobs loudly.
Akiyoshi
"Who took your children? If there are innocents in danger, and we can save them, we will. But we cannot bring them back to you, for your time among the living has already passed..."
Akiyoshi
Sorry, my week turned into the busyish kind.
"Do you not know what has become of you? You are undead; a vampire; only a shadow of a living woman, cursed only to feed off of those that still have life within them. The outside world is not for you. These yet, those that still live can be freed though. This is a gift that you can give them. Let us end your torment."
The Tomb
Lacara snarls at the paladin, then seems to collect herself. With lament in her voice, but no sobbing this time, she weakly speaks: "I am not sure what you mean, gentle hero. I have lived through great torment indeed, for they have taken my child, my first child, and I swore I would one day find it again. These are my new children, and I love them with all my heart. Please bring me to the surface. Help me find my child, and punish the thief. This will certainly end my torment..." She ends her plea with a weak smile.
The Tomb
The lady looks at first serene and happy to answer, but her features change as she struggles to answer: "Well of course, I don't know its name... My child... They took it as I gave b- birth... It was... It. Was... By the gods! I can't remember! Oooooh! My chiiiild! My chiiiiiiild!"
Lying kneeling on the dirt floor, she tears at the hem of her robe as her hands rest on her lap.
Ukyou Zashiki-warashi of Kasai
Ukyou attempts to help Jiro's attempt, "Lady, look at me. Who was your child's father? And who was it that took your child? Servants? Soldiers?"
That's probably a Bluff to help 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Why the heck did I not invest in Bluff for Ukyou??
The Tomb
"I- The father! He took my child! He took iiiiit!"
She seems to have sense Ukyou's tenseness, but has not seen Jiro's move. Unfortunately, the two women are stuck to Lacara's skirts and don't wish to leave their... mother.
The Tomb
"I can't. I can't remember!!! I can't see his face. Just his hands, grabbing! Grabbing!"
Akiyoshi
Akiyoshi turns his gaze on the two young women, trying to determine if they, like their 'mother' are creatures of evil.
Detect Evil
They might be victims; so bereft of hope that they cling to their captor for protection from the unknown...
"We cannot take you to the surface, madam. For you have become a well of darkness, and that we cannot allow to escape this place to run free in the world. If you are trapped here, that might be well and good, for never could we conscience to allow such evil to wreak its ill on free men and women. If you are not restrained here, we will have to see this danger put to rest. Let me say it plainly; your life has been taken from you, and whatever you think yourself now, truly you live no longer. You are a shadow of life only, that clings to animation by supping upon the living, and depriving them of freedom. You are a vampire. I know not how you came to be this way, or if you know it yourself, but this truth is plain to see upon your form."
The Tomb
Lacara, still on her knees and sobbing, stops gradually as Akiyoshi threatens her. She raises slowly and stares at the paladin, scorn on her face: "This is all so nice and well for you then. You get to plunder the tomb of my family, but won't help a mother find her child... Daughters! Come to me. Let's talk no more to these... tomb raiders! They are not here to help us..."
The two 'daughters' bow their heads and starts towards Lacara, sobbing softly.
Akiyoshi
Akiyoshi invests his sword once more with Holy power.
"Enough of this; if you will not allow me to bring your end mercifully, we will bring it by force."
*Smite Evil*
Raising his flaming blade high, Akiyoshi darts in quickly, seeking to position himself between the Vampire and her daughters. As he moves in, he brings his glowing curved blade down in a deadly arc, striking at the undead abomination with tremendous force.
Charge/Power Attack: 1d20 + 23 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 23 + 7 + 2 = 41
Damage: 1d8 + 27 + 30 + 1d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 27 + 30 + (1) + (6, 1) = 66
Smite damage is doubled (15x2=30) as she is undead. Damage is Good Aligned Slashing. 1 point (from 1d6) is fire damage. DR is ignored.
AC vs. Vampire = 33 due to smite evil.

The vampire watches with widening eyes the flaming blade come down on her. It catches her in the shoulder, severing the arm off. She tries to get up but bends over under Tihn's missile, only to be pushed back as a line of arrows catch her in the torso, with the last one going through her eye.
As quick as that, she crashes to the floor.
The room is silent, but for the faint whimpering of her two 'daughters'.
Akiyoshi
Akiyoshi moves in step with the woman as she falls. Unwilling to trust in such a creature's 'death' for even an instant, he moves in to finish her, severing her head from her body.
Coup de Grace: 2d8 + 54 + 30 + 1d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 54 + 30 + (2) + (6, 5) = 101
The Tomb
The two girls stare, astonished, at the severed head of Lacara. They seem unresponsive, and it will probably take a while before they are again, unless they are cared for.
Akiyoshi
Akiyoshi bows his head slightly to the women, but without taking his eyes off the corpse, "I am sorry, young ladies, that you were forced to bear this witness." Turning his address to his allies he says, "This is strange; any vampire I have slain before has turned to mist. They must be killed in their coffin to be finally destroyed." He nudged the severed head with an armoured toe. "I could feel the evil radiating off of her in waves, but could I have been wrong about her being a vampire?"
The Tomb
As you look closely at her, you notice that though you can confirm she had the traits of a vampire, she wasn't affected by fire, nor did she have undead consorts. Perhaps this is a different kind? Such things wouldn't be surprising in a land so exotic as Minkai.
The Tomb
Ok, so what are you doing about the girls. Without proper care, they won't get out of their current state.
