The Tomb
You all have rested the equivalent of a night.
You unfold the portable hole. It's opening lay wide and dark before you.
In what order are you going in?
Akiyoshi
Akiyoshi is willing to go first, as always; unless Ukyou wants to lead to check for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26
A note that Akiyoshi's flight spell has worn off. Recasting it is optional, and up to Tihn to decide if its needed, of course.
Ukyou Zashiki-warashi of Kasai
"Akiyoshi, allow me to go first quietly and check for trouble."
Ukyou quietly slips into the hole (without light) to see what may lie within.
Stealth 1d20 + 36 ⇒ (19) + 36 = 55
Perception 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (7) + 28 = 35
The Tomb
Ukyou cautiously opens the way inside the portable hole. Inside, he finds a chamber furnished as a cozy study, complete with large overstuffed chair, a lantern containing a continual flame, and shelves of books of poetry. A bottle sits on the arm of the chair, which Tihn identifies as a Bottle of Air...
You head back through the mists, getting back to the stairs.
The Tomb
The wide flight of stairs descends down into the earth here. After a few steps, thick white mist fills the stairwell, obscuring further vision. Three circular tiles are set into the floor inside of the archway at the head of the stairs; each tile depicts a different medusa’s face—one howling in rage, one mocking with a forked tongue, and one with crossed eyes.
The Tomb
As you step on the tile, the mists part and the stairs continue downward, leading to a corridor. The corridor splits into forks heading east and west. Broken marble fragments lie strewn across the east and west alcoves. The fragments suggest rather beautiful sarcophagi once stood in these areas, apparently obliterated by a powerful and malignant force. A magnificent marble sarcophagus, carved with all manner of sea creatures—dolphins, squid, sharks, shellfish, and merfolk—remains in the northern alcove.
Chiseled in delicate script on the lid of the one remaining sarcophagi are three names and sets of dates:
“Malachi Vochu Hanado, 4372–4422”
“Trepuso Vochu Hanado, 4374–4438”
“Lechuana Vochu Hanado, 4378–4449,”
along with the phrase,
“We Shall Not Be Mocked.”
The two forks separating join back, as though they were enclosing a small chamber. Where they join, a massive stone block fills the entire wall with the mocking medusa of the Vochu in bas-relief. Obviously a door similar to the others you've found, to the family’s vault.
Ukyou Zashiki-warashi of Kasai
"Why don't I make sure this is all there is to see before we check out that sarcophagus or the door." Ukyou slips off to scout around the loop.
Stealth 1d20 + 36 ⇒ (18) + 36 = 54
Perception 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (15) + 28 = 43
Feel free to roll extra Stealth or Perception checks if needed
Ukyou Zashiki-warashi of Kasai
"Unpleasant surprise left for us over here on the door. Let me see if I can take care of it and then we can decide if we start here." Ukyou backs off the door as far as he can and sends his tools dancing forward to disarm the door.
Will get as far away as I can, but understand from the description, that I may still have to be pretty close to the door.
Disable Device 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (7) + 27 = 34
Akiyoshi
Akiyoshi looks around the loop as well,turning his supernatural gaze on everything in turn, looking for any signs of evil and its remnants.
"Most of the chambers in this structure have had great evil menaces within them. Are there any preparations we should make before our next such encounter?"
The Tomb
Ukyou does his best to keep away from the door, but the shape of the hallway keeps him a little too close for his comfort. He works the sigil as best he can, but the pattern is intricate and, after a tense minute, he looses control of the thread.
A guttural voice echoes through the hallway, shouting dark incantations amd you feel your spirit weaken under the assault, as though shredded.
14d8 ⇒ (8, 4, 7, 3, 8, 8, 6, 7, 3, 8, 3, 5, 2, 8) = 80
Will save for Ukyou.
The Tomb
Perception to locate traps: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (8) + 29 = 37
Ukyou approaches the trap carefully. From the flow of arcane energy he detects, the trap has reset...
Ukyou Zashiki-warashi of Kasai
"The trap has reset. I think before I make another attempt to disarm it, we'd better see about healing. Otherwise, you all may be burying me for good this time."
I don't have an option for healing (I think), so we should either go elsewhere or if any of you can heal Ukyou, I can try to disarm the trap again.
The Tomb
I've changed the rules for healing for this game. It's in the recruitment tab or campaign tab.
Akiyoshi
I can't find anything about the healing rules in either recruitment or campaign info tabs. Am I just overlooking it somehow?
Normally, I would just take Ukyou aside and use my wand on him. Through the magic of previewing the dice, I can see it would take 15 charges to heal him back to full.
15d8 + 15 ⇒ (2, 3, 7, 5, 4, 3, 3, 8, 8, 2, 1, 2, 6, 6, 6) + 15 = 81
Will this still work with your modified rules?
Ukyou Zashiki-warashi of Kasai
I couldn't find them either. But, if we go the wand route..."
"Thank you Akiyoshi-san. If everyone will move back again, I'll see if I can disarm this trap for good. We should work quickly in case it does reset again." Ukyou sends his tools forward once again.
Disable Device 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (19) + 27 = 46
The Tomb
Hit points are a measure of resistance and stamina. They are recuperated at the rate of 1/4 of maximum hp per two hours of complete rest, four hours of non-strenuous work or eight hours of intense activity. The character needs to have at least 1 hp to recuperate.
Ability damage is recuperated at the rate of the character’s Constitution modifier (min 1) per day.
Akiyoshi
Looks like the rules increase natural healing, but shouldn't interfere with the wand healing at all. So Akiyoshi will have done the wand healing.
"You are very welcome my friend. We will be close at hand, should you need us.
The Tomb
Once healed, Ukyou, with renewed focus and strong motivation, tackles the trap.
Within a few long and intense minutes, he manages to circumvent the trap and the door slides down with a faint whisper, revealing the vault of the Vochu.
Lining the walls of this vault are six large, padlocked iron chests, each securely fastened to the floor. Ukyou goes through the locks like they were made of butter. Within the chests are:
- eight platinum ingots (8,000 gp each);
- 24 gold ingots (1,000 gp each);
- three bags each containing an assortment of 150 medium-quality gemstones worth 15,000 gp in total;
- a bag with 50 high-quality gemstones worth 25,000 gp in total;
- a leather sack containing a periapt of wound closure;
- six potions of cure serious wounds;
- three potions of water breathing;
- a leather bucket containing four scrolls of cure serious wounds (CL 12th);
- a scroll of irresistible dance;
- a scroll of transformation (CL 15th)
- bracers of armor +4;
- a luck blade with one wish (longsword rather than short);
- a gem of brightness (38 charges).

Hmmm..can we wish for Jigoku no Mucuro????
Interesting idea!
The Tomb
You head back up the stairs, surrounded by the mists again, and this time choose the last tile. The mists open to reveal a set of stairs leading down, but this time to a crude cavern-like tunnel. It seems like this area has never been finished.
In front of you, the tunnel extends into darkness...
Tihn Tremako
Tihn holds his staff high, helping the light reach as far as possible.
"It would seem we have narrowed down where the sword may rest."
Tihn will carry the arcane scrolls found earlier, and one of the potions of cure serious wounds.
We'll get back into our regular marching order and head down the tunnel.
Akiyoshi
Akiyoshi will take a potion of cure serious as well, though probably not two, as he has his lay on hands to rely on. That leaves two each for the other two. As the only divine, Akiyoshi will take the cure scrolls.
The Tomb
From the darkness appears a frightfully pale, dark-haired woman, wearing a soiled, oldfashioned gown and with what look like tears of dried blood caked on her cheeks, asking in a tremulous voice:
“Are my daughters unharmed? Have you come to rescue us?”
Akiyoshi
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
Kn: Religion: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26 Ghost, or zombie?
Akiyoshi moves a single step closer, in order to draw the woman's attention, and keep her focus on him.
"I know not who you are, mistress, but we come here seeking only knowledge and peace. Tell me your name, and if I know where your daughters might be, I will tell you."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (20) + 28 = 48

"They've taken them from me! So many... So... Manyyyyy... He said he would care, but I'm sure he doesn't! ... Let me get to the surface. My brother... He'll know what to do!"
Ukyou Zashiki-warashi of Kasai
Knowledge (religion) 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Ukyou takes the opposite approach to Akiyoshi, drifting back slightly in an effort to fade into the shadows and content to let the paladin take the lead in the conversation.
Akiyoshi
Akiyoshi looks deeper, knowing what he is likely to see, but feeling the need to be sure.
*Sense Evil
"What is your brother's name, mistress? And what is yours? Tell us, that we might be able to unravel this mystery.
Akiyoshi will attempt to subtly take a defensive posture, so should she suddenly attack, he will get the benefit of a Full Defence.
The Tomb
The woman drops to her knees and brings her hands together, in a gesture of thanks: "May the gods smile on you and your family! I am so thankful to be able to leave this place of death! I am Hanado Lacara. My brother is Hanado Cademo. He is waiting for me on the surface. I should bring my children with me though..."
