I'm thinking about submitting a Sin Magic Specialist Wizard of Greed with the Enhancement Focused School for Transmutation.


Here's another part to the backstory. Hope you're okay with me significantly affecting the face of Golarion, because in this part a massive Ulfen army is marching against the White Witches of Irrisen. :)

Backstory P. 3:
With this oracular curse on me and the treasures of my ancestor worn proudly, I returned to White Estrid with my traveling companion and declared to her that the Coven of Black Tarn was no more. Estrid astonished us then by declaring that she would lead her entire military force, some four thousand strong, towards the Witches' domain. She declared that the gods had given her a vision, and she knew she must assist us in destroying the Witches once and for all. We sailed out of Halgrim in a massive fleet.

We sailed straight for Kalsgard, encountering a fierce storm along the way but making it through. A little before we reached the city proper we unloaded the enormous number of boats along the river and I went as a messenger to Kalsgard. Not surprisingly, the Linnorm King Sveinn was in an uproar, demanding to know why we had a large army parked outside his city. He was ready to start shouting about dishonorable attacks and treachery when I told him the true reason for the army. I also told him that if he had any pride as an Ulfen, any loyalty to his people at all, that he would recall his troops from their petty civil war and assist Estrid in assaulting Irrisen. Sveinn, backed into a corner in front of his military commanders and noblemen, agreed. We arranged for a message to be magically sent to King Ingimundr in Bildt with the same message.

While Sveinn was busy gathering his army to assist, our tribespeople in Jol returned with bad news. They told that the people of Jol were in a state of uprising, seeking to overthrow King Opir Eightfingers, and that no aid would come from that place. This meant that we had the forces of only two of the four Linnorm Kings so far. Though we hardly had the full strength of the Linnorm Kings at our backs, we were ready for war. Cold steel weapons and alchemist's fire were constantly churning out of the city while scouts scoured the countrysides, claiming more volunteers for the army and more weapons for the war.

After more than a month of preparation, our armies marched forward toward Blackraven Hall, numbering about ten thousand altogether. As we marched toward Trollheim, the Castellan Freyr Darkwine, ruler of that city, met us with his own military force ready to combat the Witches. Finally, once we reached Blackraven Hall, the Blackravens were more than eager to join in the war. We looked across the army that we had built, now numbering more than fifteen thousand, and knew we were ready to tear open Irrisen.

Irrisen was ready to greet us. On her frozen plains, just south of the Rimeflow and about two days' march to the east of the border, we met with the first of the White Witches' forces, a ragtag army of frost giants, ice trolls, cold fey, conscripted soldiers, and a few of the White Witches themselves. A parley was called, and I along with the Linnorm Kings met in between the armies with the daughter of Queen Elvanna herself. Her demands were simple: we were to lay down our arms and submit ourselves to the Witches' rule, or every last one of us would die. The Linnorm Kings, unimpressed, counteroffered that she should take every Witch and fey and leave Irrisen forever. Both sides were obviously not backing down, and so began the Second Winter War.


I'm adding the finishing touches and will have mine completed soon.


Lord Foul II: I would rule that since both Black Blooded Oracle and Dual Curse are archetypes that modify the oracle's curse, they do not stack.

Mayakiana: Those alternate racial traits are fine.

Void Dragon: I would rule that the Thassilonian Sin Specialist archetype requires you to choose the base school, not a focused school.

Kjell Isenvacht: Although I haven't had a chance to read your backstory yet, I have no problem with large amounts of crazy shenanigans happening in it.


Yeah, I didn't expect you to read the whole thing yet. I was gonna make a quick summary of the whole thing afterward, but I need to finish writing it first.

For a very condensed summary, Irrisen-born Ulfen who escapes with his tribe to Land of the Linnorm Kings and rallies up an army there to assault Irrisen and depose the White Witches/Baba Yaga. I'm gonna end it with a face-off against Baba Yaga where she kicks my butt, I barely escape, and I head to the Starstone to gain more power in order to fight her.

i was writing up a similar (albeit shorter) backstory,

But he's running from an extremely powerful ifrit, from a previous campaign (I played a custom race elf oracle/arcanist gestalt the ifrit had about 17-18 class levels on top of race and a few custom powers) I weaseled out of a wish of his and he has been hounding me and my team ever since, for the purpose of this story my team is now dead, I escaped, I came here seeking the power I need to bring them back and get revenge.

Whatchoo talkin' bout, Willis? Shapechange is loads more useful than Perfection of Self and all of the little damage abilities are really only for the first few levels where you don't have spells and the enhancement replacement for that won't really be useful for the first few levels XD

EDIT: Besides, when does +1/+2/+3/+4/+5 CON go out of style? That's potentially +3hp/HD.

I know a lot of people who dip alchemist just for the alchemical bonus (which so far as I know is the only place to get an alchemical bonus) to whatever the prime requisite of their class is,

Oh also, despite me being a negative energy cleric, as you can tell from my prepared spell list I still intend to be on party band-aid duty. The majority of my spells will be defensive or healing in nature, in combat I'll act like a tactical fighter.

I'm also still interested, although I've been very busy the last week or two. Alistus and I had very similar character ideas, and I don't want to step on his toes, so I'll scrap the bloodrager.

Given the lack of full arcane casters and the plethora of divine, I'm eying an arcanist now. Alientude - what's your take on the See Magic exploit? As I read it, they get permanent detect magic, and then when they spend points get bonuses on top of that. Would that be how you interpret it? And, if so, would permanent magic-sight break anything for you?

The archmage Nex (pronounced NEKS)[1] emerged during the Age of Destiny, in the city-state of Quantium, which later became the capital of the state which bears his name, Nex.

Nex travelled the world and the Great Beyond, and his private nation grew rich on the results of his adventures. However, in -892 AR the expansion of the country of Nex brought it into conflict with the necromancer Geb, and his nation (also called Geb). The war lasted centuries, as each wizard was able to extend his life through the use of arcane elixirs. During the war, Nex created the fleshforges of Ecanus.

Nex eventually achieved true immortality by creating a personal demiplane he called the Crux of Nex. He used a shard of the Crux as part of an unsuccessful siege of Absalom in 166 AR. He used another shard in Quantium to create another demiplane, the Refuge of Nex, to act as a bolthole if he was threatened by his enemies.

In 563 AR Nex gifted dominion over the isle of Jalmeray to the Vudrani maharaja Khiben-Sald.

Some four thousand years ago, in 576 AR, Geb managed to bathe Quantium in a deadly fog, and Nex fled into the Refuge. He has never been seen since – and whilst thousands of other people have entered the Refuge since, none of those have ever emerged either,.

It fits pretty well especially the end. I will work up my own backstory if you prefer crunch to follow.

I've hung out in the rules forum enough to know that there will be people who say that the first sentence is just descriptive, and that the rest is describing just how the arcanist can "see magical auras". In other words, nothing until you activate it, then you've got instant 3-round-detect-magic for the next minute.

but that's obviously not the intent, and moreover it's not even RAW, so there's no falling back on that

I used the cost of scribing for the scrolls rather than the full price that is how I managed 10.


Bobson: As I read it, See Magic does give you a permanent detect magic. While it has the potential to be disruptive, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Walter Lindie: Interesting concept - playing as Nex is a possibility. However, as I told Void Dragon, I would rule that a Thassilonian Sin Specialist is required to take the base school, not a focused school.

Opposition Research

Prerequisite: You must be at least a 9th-level Wizard to select this discovery.

Benefit: Select one Wizard opposition school; preparing spells of this school now only requires one spell slot of the appropriate level instead of two, and you no longer have the –4 Spellcraft penalty for crafting items from that school.


I am still very Interested. I just did not wish to bog down the thread to much. Its almost tempting to make an arcane caster also.

Walter Lindie: Since Thassilonian sin specialists have forbidden schools rather than opposition schools, I'd say Opposition Research does not work for them. Aside from language nitpicking, the idea is completely against the concept of the archetype. :) Also, as I said earlier in the thread, no crafting is allowed pre-game, so your scrolls will have to change accordingly.
