Yikes - I got stalkers. DM Chaos casts Summon Monster LXXIV and suddenly that hideous drow headed spider appears and consumes the brave halfling cavalier.

Aww! :(

Don't worry, I am sure that she will use his body to decorate her lair.

That's OK, I know what you're going into in Age of Worms! I know, 'cuz my witch barely survived - and that only by curling up in a corner crying in terror.

Hopefully we have this section of Age of Worms almost finished as I am getting tired of the hit and run Tengus. Unless we have missed a large section, there should only be a few left. I think we are down to 2-3 that we know of. We have not met any BBEG yet, but I am sure we will before long.

Sovereign Court

Male Halfling Cavalier (Honor Guard/Strategist) Order of the Shield

yes the hit and run tengues are almost gone, then the real fight can begin! :)

Yes, brother Falco, the much more likeable Montajay, would have dwarves eating out of his hand and brushing his wolf. Tybek would have insisted on shorting his own share of the treasure to keep Falco in sweetmeats and wine. I, on the other hand, have set hobbit-dwarf relations back years.

By the way, it should be 2 tengus now.

I am not sure what loot we have to sell. When I have some time, I will look it up, but at the moment, I am a little too busy.

Just to let everyone know, tomorrow night I'll be attending a work holiday party, then Sunday I leave to Florida for a week. I'll try to make sure everything's as up to date as I can before the party tomorrow, but after that probably won't be able to post until at the hotel Sunday night. I should be able to post every night while in Florida, but if there's a delay it'd be work related. I come back next Friday if I completely disappear during this time for some reason.

We didn't find much in this latest excursion. Excluding the +1 shield Glorfin has, we found:

  • finely crafted dagger with several lavender gems encrusted in the handle and a large amethyst in the pommel
  • Masterwork Bastard Sword
  • scale armor, a light crossbow with 24 bolts, and 37 Wolves.
  • silver candlestick holder

  • Has everyone finished leveling at this point?

    Kick the halfling.

Glorfin hasn't had a chance to update with the level up yet... but has now.

    HP: 5 + 1d5 ⇒ 5 + (2) = 7 +4 HP +1 FC = 12 +15 = 27 HP total
    Increment skills by 1

Now Glorfin is starting to live up to his tank-like nature. 27 HP at 2nd level with DR 1/adamantium... just need to buy some better armor :)

I was going to use an audible performance for inspire, but I don't think anyone would have gotten the benefit if I sung in Ignan. What's your opinion on that DM Chaos?

I think that the people being inspired should be able to understand the vocal component. At the same time, there is enough non-posting time that you easily could teach the rest of the party an uplifting song in another language. Unless there is some reason for wanting to do it in Ingan other than for flavor, I have no problem with it.

    Profile not in use

My only comment to that is that I do not understand German... but if I listen to Rammstein at loud volumes I can still get pumped up.

Similarly listening to the macarena will make most people around the world want to cause some speaker damage without understanding the words.

    Just my 2c

I suppose RAW, it says you have to be able to hear it, not understand it. There are a number of vocal/sonic spells that require the target to be able to understand the language being used. Since this one does not, then I would think that you can use any language.

Case in point is the song Gangnam Style that is a hit with most of the world right now. Last time I checked it was sung in Korean and pretty much nobody outside of Korea speaks Korean.

If anyone cannot see the maps on Google, please let me know. I posted the last battlemap in the wrong directory at first and then reposted it a few posts later when I was told.

    Hello Folks,

I am just giving a heads up that I will be away on vacation with the family next week. We will be gone basically Sunday through Saturday. I will have my little Ipod so I may be able to post some small things in the evenings provided that the hotel has a good internet service. However, if I am absent, that is the explanation. Please feel free to DMPC Tybek if you need to. Have a great week.

I am on vacation next week as well but can not stay away from the PBP's...lol
My posting will probably be early in the morning before I head out each day though and will not be as much but I will be checking in each day.

There is a certain challenge that I like about playing Arindale. How is one stupid but wise...it has to be a fine balance. He knows little but has good instincts? You could just say that about someone who has a 10 Int. I think it has to go a little deeper than that or in Arindale's case maybe shallower...

    Dwarf Rogue 3 (hp: 31/31, AC 18, Touch 14, Flat 14, Perception +7 (+9 Traps), Stealth +13)

You do a fine job of balancing that! Nice job!

I like the roles you guys are all playing so far and hope that the campaign has stayed interesting. You should get into some new stuff soon - as long as you don't keep getting ambushed just getting to the moathouse. - Evil cackle.

To be honest I'm finding Tybek's repeated exuberant outpourings a bit tiring. Glorfin is attempting to be a relatively dour and honorable dwarf... but it seems that half the time Glorfin opens his mouth he'll need to start with either apologising for Tybek or trying to figure out a way to rebuild from where the conversation has ended up.

I know that you're trying to RP a 7 Charisma... but he's also got above average Int and Wis - so he should be more than self-aware enough to realise what he's doing.

But then again looking at the rest of the party personalities I know that Glorfin is the odd one out - the others are built to be more personable and engaging (or perhaps endure Tybek better). I have thought a couple of times of recusing myself from the campaign.

    Male Human Cleric 3 (FC) AC 20 HP 29/29 F: +5 R: +2 W:+5 Perc: +2

Keeping up the Dwarven gibber-gabber is pretty impressive...

I personally think we need a serious one in the group to keep us grounded Mark. I have to admit that it allows me to play Arindale as a little less seriously...I do take the PBP seriously though and am enjoying it.
He will be a little more serious once he realizes the depth of the threat. Right now he just sees himself as an adventurer seeking glory.

    Dwarf Rogue 3 (hp: 31/31, AC 18, Touch 14, Flat 14, Perception +7 (+9 Traps), Stealth +13)

Mark, Sorry to make Tybek too tiring. I want to make him grumpy and socially inadequate, but not at the expense of everyone's fun. I actually modeled him after my uncle, but perhaps I've taken it too far. Naturally, I was playing Tybek with a low charisma, but I also planned for him to be completely obedient and respectful to Glorfin. He respects his kinsman and will always do whatever Glorfin asks. If you just give Tybek the look, he will shut his mouth. I was basically playing him a little outrageously until he learned his limits. I hope to have the character grow in maturity as he gains some acceptance and respect in the community and with his comrades. He just has not had much of that yet. Please do not recuse yourself from the campaign, I enjoy having Glorfin there. He is a great character and adds much to the contrast of this group! Let's just work on a way in the game to keep Tybek from saying the wrong things at the wrong time, especially when it really counts. I can obviously just comply, but I like to think of a way to solve it in character.

    [(HP 20/26 | AC15 T11 FF13 CMD16 | F+2 R+4 W+2 | Inish +1 Per +3 S.M. +5) Female Suli Bard 3

I too would like to see Glorfin stay. And I actually agree that it's not just Tybek (which, by the way, I think Tybek is hilarious!).

I've come to realize my portrayal of Ranim has become more of a parody than I originally intended. My character design was to be flighty, not quite aware and focusing it as the occasional joke and took it a little farther than I intended (including using it as an excuse for taking a while to post). I too will try to tone it back some.
