lvl 3 hp 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
As for learning the scribe scroll feat.
Lvl 1 scrolls cost 12.5 gp to make, cheaper than the 15 gp per wand charge. Scrolls are half the cost of potions. Crafting wands costs 7.5 gp per charge, but you need to do it in lots of 50. Not convenient for the occasionally useful (detect traps, comprehend languages)
I like scribe scroll over extra channels as you get to make situational spells (magic weapon to bypass DR) or protection from evil (get a second save) that you may not want to tie up a permanent spell slot. Just don't pick spells where the poor DC11 (command) or short duration (monster summoning 1) can hurt. Enlarge person and CLW are good candidates for scrolling.

DM Chaos |

Scrolls are good for 1 min/level or longer spells (Bull Strength, Mage Armor, Shield, Enlarge Person, etc. Scrolls pretty much suck for anything offensive as it is expensive and you lose any ability bonus (DC11 for most level 1 spells as Braden stated).
One thing to remember is that you can create items by working together, or at least I have no problem with that. So, Braden could craft the CLW scroll, but it will take both Arindale AND Braden to craft it, and I will require the lower Spellcraft as the applicable stat that will be used. In effect Arindale/Ranim/Maegge could borrow Braden's feat, but would have to use is at their own skill level.

Working on leveling up. Having trouble deciding on my feat. My current thoughts are:
Arcane Strike (Generaly seems useful)
Harmonic Spell (Situationally useful)
Spellsong (Seems useful, but mostly in an RP sense)
Craft Wondrous Item (What with all the crafting talk, wasn't sure if anyone else was)
Any opinions?

The bigger concern for me is the time it takes up. Braden will want to do scrolls and so will Arindale...I think I am going to switch to scribe. I can then scribe some useful scroll like lesser restore, remove paralysis, etc.
Thanks guys for the input.
DM Chaos |

The choice is yours. Craft feats are effectively using a feat to save a few coins. Most scrolls and potions you will be able to purchase, you just need to talk to the right people.
Craft Wondrous Item is very useful in my opinion, as is Craft Wand as the amount of time to craft these is not too long and you are saving 1000s (2k vs. 4k for a Belt/Headband +2).
As I said, Braden can craft divine scrolls, he will just need someone with the divine spell known Ranim(CLW)/Arindale/Maegge to help him. And it will use the Divine caster's Spellcraft score. If multiple players take the same feat, this will speed up the crafting, but not have many other affects.

Berashel |

I have been debating between Furious Focus, Extra Lay on hands, and greater mercy.
Greater mercy would give me 2d6 vs 1d6 when using lay on hands on myself (4/day)
Furious Focus would reduced my Power Attack penalty for my first attack (basically a free +3 to damage).
At 4th level the PA penalty is -2/+6 and as a 4th level Oath of Vengeance paladin I get to convert 2 LoH for 1 Smite Evil so I figured at this point the extra would be helpful now for healing and I could pick up Furious Focus at 5th when I make 4th level Paladin.
So any input in that? Would taking Greater Mercy be better now vs the flexibility of 2 more lay on hands?

Arindale |

To me though it is an economy of action struggle. If Berashel can heal himself vs. taking up my actions so I can attack it is worth it. If he is going 2-HD attack route with relatively bad AC he will be getting hit alot. Dropping, healing, getting back up, getting hit again...
You can't take Greater Mercy anyways since you have to have the Mercy class feature to qualify and you will only be a 2nd level Paladin. I would take extra LOH personally, you will want to take it eventually and having access to extra healing is never a bad thing as you can just keep healing yourself as you attack.
Furious Focus is a good feat to have though, you wouldn't go very wrong with either although it only gives you an extra +1 to hit at 3rd.

Arindale |

We could probably use a breakdown of what treasure we found as well.
This was the last one:
7 Falcons (p.p.) +3 = 10 Falcons
86 Sail (g.p.) +20 +50 = 156 Sails
265 Wolves (s.p.) +115 = 380 Wolves
802 Caps (c.p.)
1 Ring (worth 30 gold
+1 Quartz (50 gold)
Magic items to date:
+1 Shield - Arindale
Boots of Elven Kind - Ty
+1 Battleaxe - Ty
Scroll case with scrolls?
Am I missing anything we have gotten?

Berashel |

Right Need Mercy, Mix up that I have that 1 level of Sorcerer at times.
Well that makes it easier for 3rd, Extra Lay on Hands. Now 5th might be a question for FF and basically a +2 to hit or greater mercy to make my LoH go farther. Got plenty of time to mull that over!
DM Chaos, I have a disease from the ghouls, how do you want to resolve that? Make a Fort Save for the day to see if it goes away (after the results of the disease of course)

DM Chaos |

Berashel - take the penalty from the prior day and then make the Fort save. If you fail, you take the ability damage the next day and make a Fort roll each day. Repeat until you have been cured or have to create a new character.
Also, you can talk to the people in the town, there may be some who can heal if necessary.

Berashel |

Berashel Fort Save Next Day 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 (Save 1 of 2 needed to be cured)
Con Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Dex Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Also roll for Hps for the level 1d5 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Paladin Level Gains:
HPs +10
Bab +1
Fort and Will Saves +1
Divine Grace (+3 Charisma Bonus to Saves)
Lay on Hands (4/day)
Skills - +1 to Diplomacy, Knowledge (religion), Knowledge (arcana)
Feat - Extra Lay on Hands (+2/day for a total of 6/day)

How many people are going to be gone in August, and what days. I can put this sort of on hiatus - you all can chat with the Hommlet townsfolk and the village leaders for a day or two while scrolls are scribed and Con/Dex is recovered. As I am moving, getting moved, for the next two + weeks, it will be easier than having you in the dungeon and trying to assemble all your combat and other rolls.
I sort of liked the old level up required some additional training from AD&D - where as I recall it was a two week period to level. I am not requiring two weeks, but find it rather hard to grasp that suddenly in the middle of the dungeon Braden realizes that he has learned some new spells, and Ranim finds that she can cast a new spell, etc.
I am trying to match the leveling with returns to town for this reason. If necessary, I will level you in the dungeon at times, but prefer to do it when there is sort of a break point.

Arindale |

I will be around the entire month except for the weekend of the 15th. I don't mind us spending an extra day or two scribing and selling stuff as well.
Hopefully we can make deeper runs and find some items for some other folks.
We may need to make a run to a larger city eventually as well.

Berashel |

I will be on vacation from Aug 22nd through the 26th. I will have my laptop and phone and may have time to post, though not guaranteed.

Ranim Nejem |

August 14th-18th it will be fairly difficult for me to post. Well, I guess the 14th and the 18th are travel days and I won't be driving (outside of the guy driving being inebriated, which I put at about an 89% chance) so theoretically I could iPad post. But last time I tried reading during the trip it was nothing but people badgering me non-stop. And hell, they were playing Call of Cthulhu during the trip!!

DM Chaos |

Lets go for shopping and socializing (as long as you are able to keep Tybek and Braden from saying anything) with the locals for the next 2+ weeks. Once I have moved which should be finished between the 15th and the 19th, then we will ramp it back up.
I will be around, just not sure about the time I can dedicate to all my games over the next few weeks because of the move and I know that several people are going to Gencon and having other trips as noted. I will try to post at least once or twice a day as required, but do not plan on pushing you back into the moathouse until everyone is back.

DM Chaos |

Ok, I am more or less back together. The moving truck arrives tomorrow, so after than, live should return to some semblance of normalcy. I was called for a second interview for a job, so if I get that, my daytime posting is likely to become much less. But I will still try to post in the morning and evening every day.

Tybek Odeon |

I'm back too! What an amazing time! Here are some of my favorite highlights.
• I met Paizo staff James Jacobs, Jason Bulhman, and CEO, Lisa Stevens! Her story hour was awesome!
• We saw the world premie the Gamer's 3: The Hand of Fate and met the cast afterwards. What an awesome movie!
• We played hours and hours of Pathfinder Scenarios. I think we did about five or six.
• We fought off the demon horde in a special session where 140 tables of 6 players and a GM were all simultaneously battling to save the city. Our actions in our own games affected the outcome of this entire battle. What a rush to see and hear a roar of cheering when we rescued different districts from the demons!
• We survived 6 rooms in the legendary bonekeep and lived to brag about it.
• I bought way too many minis, battle mats, modules, and dice!
• I met and hung out with some great people! We laughed so hard!
Well, I will be getting back to posting soon enough. See you about.

Berashel |

I'm here but leaving on vacation Thursday through Monday of this week. Should be able to check in though.
Berashel planned on hanging out with Tybek and resting up before returning to put the hurt on more naughties

Maegge Weissam |

hp: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Spells Memorized:
0 - Flare, Guidance, Know Direction, Purify Food and Drink
1 - Cure Light Wounds, Magic Stone, Produce Flame
2 - Barkskin, Warp Wood
Skills: Handle Animal, Knowledge (nature), Perception, Ride, Stealth, Survival
Feat: Augmented Summoning

Arindale |

Should be interesting. Between myself and Berashel we should provide the tankage, with the summoners, Ranim to buff everyone and the dwarf flanking and sneak attacking should be interesting.
Make sure to use some summons to draw AOO's so we can move in unmolested! Then I can move to the flank for Ty and Berashel when I am enlarged.
Nice the augments plus the inspires should make the summoned creatures fairly potent.

Ranim Nejem |

Dueling hobbits with dueling augment summoning.
Awesome.
Maybe I should pick up perform (string instrument) okay, okay, bad joke!

DM Chaos |

I am really trying to get things moving, but lets just say that after 3 days of unpacking, we are maybe 50% done getting the new house set up. On top of that, my mother-in-law is here helping to "organize" things, which means I will have twice as much work undoing half of what she decides is best.
I will try to get a post up later today and get you all back to the moathouse.

DM Chaos |

Moving/responding from the IC to cut down on clutter.
Trying to keep it up. Been a little slow recently with my moving and getting settled in New Hampshire. I am trying to get at least one post per day if possible. Most of you have been great and usually respond at an amazing rate when I do get a post up.
The one thing that slows me down more than anything is building the maps as each one is essentially a new map. Unlike the new PF AP's, there were no pdfs and color pictures in this module. Thus, I have to try to eyeball the map from the old black & white map book, and then recreate it in Maptools. A slow process, but I am quickly getting much better and smarter. Recently I discovered that by using the vision blocking tools to block out everything, and then only show relevant parts of the map is much easier than having everything visible and trying to "hide" parts I did not want visible.
Anyway, I am enjoying the campaign and your all playing. It is fun seeing how each person plays the various drawbacks (low stats) that you all chose.
