Game Master HolmesandWatson

ToEE I still play the pc game. Looking forward to this

I was addicted to the silver and gold box games from TSR (even played The Dark Sun game). And I played Icewind Dale and spent countless hours on the Baldur's Gates and NW Nights games.

But I had played a lot of NWN I before I tried ToEE and it felt like such a big step backwards, I gave it up almost at the start.

I saw the trailer for Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition for the ipad today. Wow! They recreated it great!

I recently made my first foray into the MMO world with Age of Conan (which is a VERY cool game).

I'm in my mid-forties, which usually puts me at the "old" range of my PbP games. To folks who came into RPG video/PC gaming within the past 20-ish years, it used to be a VERY different experience.

THIS is what your screen used to look like.

Now, any game on the Atari 2600 was pretty much clumsy and not pretty (Pitfall broke the mold). But I was enraptured playing Temple of Apshai, mapping out the dungeon on graph paper as I advanced.

So, the old games look archaic, but before cool sword and sorcery movies, these games were awesome.

If there's room, I'd love to play. I'm fine with any class, but leaning a bit towards sorc. if possible.

Howdy! Still have two spots open. Roll up a character and submit if you want.

Yeah I tried playing ToEE on PC too, but it sucked so much my PC refused to talk to me for a week.

Hey GM Iliad,

Didn't see Wix Knickershins on the list, just want to re-iterate that he's still in the running and ready to go :)

Wix is in. That is nine. Who will be number 10?

Dotting and will post a character outline later today. Not a newbie per se but will look to create a character I haven't role-played before (both class and race).

@birch - Howdy. Submit away.

Here are the nine characters submitted so far. If I missed one, please let me know ASAP. Otherwise, the next one in (that fits the requirements) gets the tenth spot.

Hafling Druid - Shane Greenbottle
Human Ranger - Zane Carprett
Human Monk - Darpan
Human Fighter - Desmond Winters
Human Cleric - Gyness Stout
Halfling Cleric - Beau Trill
Human Fighter - Petracleus
Elf Bard - Lucien Moonbow
Human Rogue - Wix Knickershins.

I'll divvy them into two groups of five next.

Fear of being gazumped has me submit the following, that I'll add to over the next couple of hours. As I've never played a half-elf and as there's no wizard, and I've never played a PF wizard...

Corvus

STR 10, DEX 12, CON 10, INT 18, WIS 14, CHA 14

Skills: Appraise 8, Knowledge Arcana 5, Knowledge Dungeoneering 5, Knowledge History 5, Knowledge Religion 5, Perception 4, Spellcraft 8

Languages: Common, Elven, Draconic, 3 more tbc

HP 6, INIT 4, BAB 0

Feats: Alertness*, Improved Evasion*, Share Spells*, Empathetic Link*, Still Spell

Abilities: Low-Light Vision, Elven Immunities, Adaptability, Keen Senses, Arcane Bond (Raven), Arcane School (Evocation), Cantrips, Scribe Scroll, Force Missile, Wepaons - Club, Dagger, Light and Heavy Crossbow, Quarterstaff

Wealth: 84gp

Background
Corvus is a book-worm. He spends every waking hour reading and his knowledge is vast for someone so young. But local books only held so much information and so, in search of greater knowledge, he has started to travel from village to village in search of reading material.
Along the way, he saved a baby crow from a feral cat and was amazed to find the young bird followed him on his journey. Over time, he realised they had a connection. He could sense the bird's feelings when it was away from him and one day, when reading aloud from a Draconic text, he was amazed to hear the bird speak in hat tongue. Now they converse regularly (unless they are in company).
His reading told him he must be a wizard and having found a few spells on an old parchment, he was amazed to find he could produce magic - albeit only a few times a day.
Now Corvus seeks a teacher, or a spell book that might help him unleash his true power. And as a young wizard, he knows he will have to travel in company as his physical prowess does not allow him to venture too far alone.

Just read all th posts through and spotted the, "no magic users!". Give me a short while...

AND THAT'S TWO FULL PARTIES!

Halfing Druid - Shane Greenbottle
Human Ranger - Zane Carprett
Human Monk - Darpan
Human Fighter - Desmond Winters
Human Cleric - Gyness Stout
Halfling Cleric - Beau Trill
Human Fighter - Petracleus
Elf Bard - Lucien Moonbow
Human Rogue - Wix Knickershins
Human Rogue - Corvus Raaf

If anyone would still like to submit a character, I'll keep it 'on tap.' Someone always seems to drop out of a PbP (unfortunately, the GM seems to have quit a game I'm currently playing). I expect some attrition if two groups play the Shadowed Keep all the way through.

This week, I'll divvy up the parties (as you can guess, one cleric, one rogue and one fighter in each group).

One group will stay on this campaign thread.

I'll start a new thread (probably with Shadowed Keep in the title) for the other group.

Then I'll post a little more info and we'll get the discussion threads going.

Second time lucky...

Background
From an early age, Corvus was destined for life as a priest. Pious as a child, she was fortunate enough to be noticed by an abbot that was on his way to take charge of a monastery. The abbot convinced Corvus' parents to release her to his keeping - as she was no doubt destined to join the Order of the Keeping.

Alas, the abbot was not virtuous and groomed the young Corvus - as he did with many pretty young girls he had convinced families to hand over to the church.

Corvus knew the teachings of the church were not congruous with how she was being treated - and when a new young girl was brought to the monastery and was abused by the abbot, Corvus saw this as a test of her faith.

She considered her beliefs and decided that the acts occurring at the monastery were not appropriate and she confronted the abbot. He laughed at her; then beat her and promised to rape her. She picked up a nearby candlestick and calmly bludgeoned him to death.

Corvus knew her version of events would not be believed but she also refused to turn her back on her deity. Once more, she faced a moral dilemma. Deciding to act in a selfless way and believing it was her duty to protect others, she took up the role of a virtuous avenger.

Running from the monastery, she looked for wrongs to right when others would turn a blind eye. When those who transgressed were above the law, she saw that justice was done.

Many people would pigeon-hole Corvus as a rogue, but she sees herself more as a stealthy assassin, and has tried to develop her skills that way. She takes on contracts that require someone to be eliminated or persuaded to see the error of their ways - but she never seeks payment.

Her lack of strength means she always plans to get close to her victim and will use stealth or her charisma to achieve that 'kill.'

As young women go, Corvus is tall and thin. With her tendency to dress in shades of grey and with her pale skin, long, straight dark hair and pale grey eyes; she looks gaunt and at times almost ill.

She may not be strong, but she is agile and uses this to compensate when others underestimate her abilities. She's smart and also charming when it suits her and she'll never lose that desire to right wrongs.

GM Iliad - you can call which character best works for the group I'm in and I'll work that one up fully.

Huzzah!!!

And now with alias...

If an opening develops, please consider me as a replacement. I'm an elven chaotic good wizard of some small skill.

I'm still in. Sorry about the lack of posts but I had no access to a computer all weekend.

Liberty's Edge

looking forward to playing...just need an ok for my character before I make an alias

Okay: started reviewing characters and sending comments back. I'll get to everyone. I'm running Teeth of the Storm and the Shadowed Keep for both groups.

Staying here, on this board (for no specific reason):

Corvus Raaf - Human Rogue
Gyness Stout - Human Cleric
Desmond Winters - Human Fighter
Zane Carprett - Human Ranger
Lucien Moonbow - Elf bard

I'm setting up a new thread for the group below. I'll post when it's ready.

Wix Knickershins - Human Rogue
Beau Trill - Halfling Cleric
Petracleus - Human Fighter
Shane Greenbottle - Halfling Druid
Darpan - Human Monk

Look for an IM with comments on your character. I'm also working on a couple page campaign guide.

@SHALM (can't send you an IM)

Shalm:
Shane is listed as a halfling and a gnome. The crunch is gnome-ish. Did you mean for him to be a gnome?

Pathfinder Adventure, Adventure Path Subscriber

GM Ilaid:
Sorry about that. Not sure how I got it mixed up, but he's definitely meant to be a halfling (and his ability scores only work out if that's the case). I'll put stats up on his alias to reflect the minor changes.

Also, I'm relatively new to the boards. Why can't you send me an IM?

GM Iliad:
Alright, Shane should be good to go now. Sorry about the confusion.

Shalm:
I'm guessing, that if you go to My Account, and browse down to Privacy Settings (on the left), you don't have it set to allow messages from paizo members.

That's the IM feature. If you look at my alias, towards the left, SEND PRIVATE MESSAGE is a hyperlink option. I think that's what appears when you change the privacy setting.

Wix, Beau, Petracleus, Shane and Darpan:

Head on over to Shadowed Keep on the Borderlands

That's going to be the campaign thread. Just post an 'I'm Here' in the discussion thread and we'll get things going over there.

To the others, we'll continue on here. I've taken a first cut at the other group's sheets. You're up next.

Right der mayte ets ghet dis party started
