Head on over to the Paizo PRD and read the Chase Rules
The one you're about to play will be a little different, but you get the idea. Basically, we're about to play a 10 round chase, with each of you getting a turn per round. Every round, for your turn, each of you will get the choice of two different skill checks.
I'll present the description and the two skill options, with DC. You decide which check and make your roll. After the roll, write up an ic description of what happened. I'll then wrap up that turn with the results. Some skill checks have a greater reward than others; usually reflected by the difficulty.
Here's a sample:
ME
As you come across a clearing, a clear path is suddenly rent by a deep, stony crack in the earth.
DC 15 Acrobatics check to make a giant leap across; or
DC 10 Survival Check to find a way around the crack.
YOU
Survival Roll - 7
"Linflass' headlong run came to a skidding halt as he stopped short at the lip of a deep crack in the earth. He furiously looked about, trying to find a way around the crack."
ME
Your hurried search fails to find an alternate route. You hear the footsteps of several goblins as they gain on you.
Then I'll post for the monster/NPC.
For your next turn, I'll lay it out and you can decide whether to jump or search more. Or maybe backtrack, but I'm still deciding if that will work.
That make sense? I'm going to try and let everybody make their post for round one before anybody goes in round two and so on each round.
I've heard and read that chases can be hard to run and dull. I'll try to keep it from flying apart. With the descriptions (instead of just a skill check), I think we can make it fun.
I have to get on top of movement speeds and a couple rules tweaks in the module before we start, but that's why I've got you on hold for a bit. I'm hoping we can get one round in a day. Two would be nice, but no pressure: post your turn in a round when you can.
Any suggestions on running this chase?

Turns within each round, no order. I just need to ensure that everyone takes their turn in a the current round before I start the next round. Someone can build on another person's action if it's applicable.
You'll likely not all be together for the whole chase, so I'll try to make clear where everyone is in relation to the others. Working on how to show it visually.

I will get the Chase Rules in the Campaign Guide. I am just running really short on free time these days. Apologies.
I think if you read this, step by step, two or three times, it makes sense. Of course, I know what I'm trying to say..
RULES
You each get one Turn in a Round. You get one Action a Turn. You will be moving from one Location to the next.
Each Location will have two skill checks. You may try both skill checks or one. Attempting one or both skill check counts as your Action.
If you attempt one skill check: pass and you move forward one Location. Fail and you stay there. There is no loss of turn for a single skill check. I mention the latter because:
If you attempt two skill checks and pass both, you move forward two locations. If you pass one, you move one location. If you fail both, you stay there and are "stuck." You lose your Turn next Round.
You may sacrifice your Action to 'mark the trail' for that Location, permanently reducing the skill checks for everybody by -2. You stay in that location.
You may use a spell or attack for your Action. You stay in that location.
You can see other people at your Location (which will be named; i.e., Giant Boulder, Cliff Edge, etc). Please put your Location at the beginning of your post so others can utilize that if they choose. You cannot see (but possibly can hear) people at other Locations.
I posted earlier you could go in any order within a Turn. That's wrong. Since you'll almost certainly end up in different Locations, we'll have to go in initiative order. So, please wait for the person before you to post. If anybody can't go within 24 hours, I'll take one Turn for you. Shouldn't be a big deal in a Chase.
After all five of you have taken your Actions, I'll make a final post ending the Round. Then you can start your posting for the next round.
Gyness and Desmond roll at -2 due to their 20' movement speed.
See my prior post on how to post your skill check (ie, ic description of what happened).
Questions, comments? "Forget this, I'm out of here" responses....

@Desmond - The group will get a head start because Gyness pretty much figured out the troll was after Klaustad at the inn.
But it could happen. I expect some of you to fail some checks (you know that paizo dice roller) and you'll be in different Locations.
Maybe somebody yells for help? We'll play through it and see what happens.
You could always throw your shoe at it.
(that's paraphrasing a great Tick cartoon bit)
@Corvus - I picture a Prince of Persia run for you...

Hey guys: Is anyone going to use their turn to reduce the rolls by -2? Please just give me a quick yes or no. Corvus, your post will tell me your answer. Thanks.
I do not plan to do it in round 1, so unless anyone needs this kind of help specifically it's No for Zane.

Girls and boys, just FYI - I am on a business trip this week, so my posts may get a bit slow and probably shorter. I hope you do not mind. Cheers
Deja... Deja... Deja vu

Zane - no need to subtract 2: that comes off of the DC. So you rolled a 15 against an 8(10-2).
Actually, I think that -2 was (incorrectly) my armour check penalty. I say incorrectly since it should have been -1 due to my Armour expert trait.
Anyway, sorry for my "lateness" boys and girls. I finally got home, and am reading through my "backlog" (I am involved in several PbP's here), so I will start posting regularly very soon.

Welcome back buddy

I am looking at my options here - is there anything Zane can do to help his friends get away from there? Since the trail is already marked and all...I do not want to simply "leave the stage" - can I get back and try Aid another (for additional +2 per skill check)?

Sorry, folks. Heading into Easter, I thought I could get this jump started again.
However, I recently got the green light to pitch a screenplay for a tv pilot. I am completely redoing the original script (it was rejected several years ago). I realize now that I am going to have to cut out everything but family and work (which includes RPGs and Age of Conan..).
I apologize for not carrying this game through at least to the end of the first adventure. I haven't worked on a screenplay in several years and this was unexpected. But I can't pass up the opportunity to make this happen.
I enjoyed running this game and I might try to pick up the pieces down the line, but I can't see beyond this screemplay project right now.
Thanks for signing on and helping me figure out how to GM.
