I'm not a big fan of adventures that centre on a particular type of weather, since that tends to ensure that resources have to be spent in order to negate penalties, hence I'm rather inclined towards Shadowed Keep too.
While weather does play a role in the early going of Retribution, the bulk of the adventure takes place in the monastery. Think of In The Name of the Rose.

GM Iliad |

Oh, ok. Well, I'm open to either then :)
tbh, the only other PF game i've played for any serious length of time (about 1 year over PbP and we cleared only 1 level) was Rappan Athuk, converted for PF, so I have no basis for comparison with any other PF modules.
Rappan Athuk? Oh my. This will certainly be nothing like that player killer behemoth.
In the Necromancer/Frog God vein: My all time favorite module is Necro's Tomb of Abysthor. Rumored to be in the pipeline for PF conversion and one I certainly will run.

Raiderrpg |

Well, while I'm no newbie to pathfinder itself (tabletop or irc), this'd be my first PBP of it. So I supposed I should be half encouraged? >:D
I'll probably play a mage type of some sort, I normally do. I'm thinking of a spell-focused bard or wizard right now... something with good int and a handy charisma.

Raiderrpg |

Argh.
I'm currently tied between-
1) Gilven Fiddlesticks, the con artist gnome bard who is TOTALLY not planning to steal the paladin's wallet, golly no! Why even mention such a thing? ... You didn't? Then nevermind!
And 2) Nedeline Revare, the young apprentice mage who decided she was sick of her master's many rules about summoning demons and blowing up rooms (why ELSE would you be a mage, she asks?) and struck out on her own.
GM Iliad, have you a preference between the two to help me break the dread indecision? :o

Raiderrpg |

So, who are the other casters, if any? Best we have some kind of synergy here, depending on who Iliad brings in :o
I'm planing for Nedeline to be an evoker, opposing the more 'subtle' divination and illusion; pick up some nice summoning and necromancy spells as we went on, keep sleep and burning hands loaded for now. I could keep divination and drop transmutation if one of you guys was going to play a buff-style cleric or a bard, though, so we can have some extra detection.

Raiderrpg |

Ah, a bard, goodies. I can probably drop enchantment, then, and keep divination... hm.
Sleep and Grease are great first choices, though if we end up lacking a healer you might want to switch one to Cure Light Wounds (obviously).
Best advice I can give to a spontaneous caster is try not to double up unless the spells rely on different defenses/saving throws- in this case, sleep and grease match well because one does will, the other reflex.

Raiderrpg |

Fellow wizard, nice. So I'll oppose Illusion and Transmutation, then.
I'll be focusing on big explosions and creating allies/meatshields for us later on, so I don't think we'll overlap too much if we all kinda stick to our respective areas.
Edward, you and I should be sure not to double up on our spell choices, since we can share the more vital spells with each other.

The flu is rampaging through my house like the black plague (which has let my four year old walk all over us....)
I've got a -6 for cognitive ability this week. I'll post a summary of stuff shortly. In real life, my pastor isn't exactly a healer cleric!
sorry to hear about the illnesses. Know how you feel I have 3 kids myself.
The part about your pastor made me laugh. I only wish they could be healer clerics.

GM Iliad |

I believe this is the list of characters submitted:
Shane Greenbottle (Shalm) Halfling Druid
Zane Carprett (same) Human Ranger (can't be urban: that's APG)
Buck Hawkdive (Connor McGinnis) Human Ranger
Wix Knickershins (Drevad) Human Rogue
Darpan (Daniel Stewart) Human Monk
Desmond Winters (Garris the Dragon) Human Fighter
Magnauk Hailstraum (Manzcar) Half Orc Barbarian
Edward Armin (same) Human Wizard
Petracleus (same) Human Fighter
Lucien Moonbow (same) Elf Bard
Are all of you still on board?
Has anybody else already submitted a statted character that I missed?
I know RaiderRPG has worked on an evoker, but no actual character yet, right?
Dungeoneon, mousetalker, Critzible, Maveith, were you going to turn something in?
Starting to organize. Thanks!

GM Iliad |

No clerics at all wow. I may withdraw Edward and build a cleric for some healing as of right now I don't have one ready but Ill think on it st work tonight.
Thanks for the update and sorry you're not feeling well.
Keep in mind this group will be split into two parties. You're the only wizard/sorceror so far. Granted, not much healing in a cleric-less party.
I did the first introductory PFS module, In Service to Lore, this summer. Closest thing we had to a spellcaster was a Bard. An odd group.
My wife got the flu pretty badly. I'm sure it's just hanging around the house like a haunt, waiting to strike again.
Hmm. A haunt that causes flu-like weakness....

Will look at some characters tonight on pc. This is my ipad. Web browsing not quite as simple
Thanks to all for heath wishes
Ah, i see.
If we lack a cleric, I can change one of my spells to Cure Light Wounds - will help a bit, but not the same as having a full cleric, i'm guessing.

Manzcar |

I have a Cleric of Cayden Cailean if we need a cleric his name is Gyness Stout. An orphan who was raised in a Cailean monestery learning to be a brewer and postion maker. At the age of 16 he was told to go out into the world and help the oppressed and spread the cheer of the great Cayden Cailean.
Think a young Friar Tuck with rapier and heavy shield.

An Alias is an alternate identity users can create with which to post in the messageboards. So, your PC for this game would be one Alias, and you'd use another Alias for another game etc.
You can create/edit Aliases under your Account Settings.
Excellent. Handy feature for sure. Thanks for the info :)

Greetings, folks. Seven people with characters have confirmed they still want to play, so these are in:
Hafling Druid - Shane Greenbottle
Human Ranger - Zane Carprett
Human Monk - Darpan
Human Fighter - Desmond Winters
Human Cleric - Gyness Stout
Human Cleric - Beau Trill
Human Fighter - Petracleus
The next three folks that confirm their character (or submit a new one and say they definitely want to play) will be in if the character meets the eyeball test (ie, no aasimar gunslingers...).
Anyone else interested, please submit and you'll go on the 'waiting list.' I've had at least one person drop out in all but one PbP I've played in so far. It's a fact of real life.
That would be two parties of five. Assuming we get to ten, I'll split them to try and balance the parties. Will definitely be a cleric in each one.
Comments on characters soon, as well as a little background, since Teeth of the Storm is now functioning as more of a lead in to Shadowed Keep, rather than the entire adventure (which was my original idea).
To anyone who hasn't submitted/confirmed yet, no magic users (I'm so old school), and a dwarf might be nice if we move beyond Shadowed Keep.
If you feel things are moving slowly, I knew this was a crunch time for me, which is why I had the long deadline and a delayed game start. So, worry not. Well, worry I don't know what I'm doing, but I am organized....

GM Iliad |

@Beau: Oops. got it.
@Lucien: No, I was looking for confirmation from folks who had submitted. Which you just gave, so...
Hafling Druid - Shane Greenbottle
Human Ranger - Zane Carprett
Human Monk - Darpan
Human Fighter - Desmond Winters
Human Cleric - Gyness Stout
Halfling Cleric - Beau Trill
Human Fighter - Petracleus
Elf Bard - Lucien Moonbow

Just FYI - there's another already created character, half-elven wizard conjurer, which I would be willing to use/swap, if we decide that there are too many meatshields, and too little artillery. I can link the profile in here if you want, so you can decide.
Entirely up to you. While Shadowed keep should end about third level, you know how limited a spellcaster can be for the first couple of levels. There will be some resting at the Keep, but not at all during Teeth.
If enough folks stick with it between the two groups, I've got two more adventures in the area lined up (a PFS scenario and a classic third edition D&D module). So, the shelf life of a conjurer would increase. But that's down the line; who knows?
Whereas the scenarios definitly favor having a cleric, spellcasters aren't inherently as needed (no more than any other class).

GM Iliad |

REVISED BACKGROUND - PLEASE READ
This incorporates The Shadowed Keep into things: bear in mind I was originally just going to run a short, one-off piece. We'll still start with Teeth of the Storm, but here's a framework to use for the whole shebang.
It is rumored that Baron Vendikon of Piren’s Bluff is listening to overtures from the thrice-cursed House of Thrune. The werewolf druids of the Shadow Pack have stepped up their violent attacks on loggers in the Arthfell Forest. A new group, the Silver Arrows, have established a presence in the area and are hunting werewolves: their motives are unknown. Ragnak, leader of a Hobgoblin band in the Arthfell, is suspected of waylaying caravans. There are always tales of beasts emerging from the Candlestone Caverns. And worries of another Night of the Silver Blood are never far from people’s thoughts. There is an elevated air of unease in the city of Olfden on the western Andoren plains.
Ironwolf keep, more commonly known as Valentin’s Folly and The Shadowed Keep, has stood abandoned in the Arthfell for decades. But locals are reporting activity in the area, ranging from bandits and goblins to undead and dragons (people can be a bit excitable). A call for adventurers has been put out by Karlae Siegfrost, heroine of the Azure Guard company. The Pathfinder Society is interested in the Keep and sends the group to investigate.

GM Iliad |

Here is a picture of The Shadowed keep
Creighton Broadhurst, grand poobah at Raging Swan Press, has said that this module is a throwback to The Moat House. To you youngsters out there (to be read in a Cliff Claven voice):
T1: The Village of Hommlet was an AD&D module published back in 1979. It was a nice little adventure in which the characters cleared out an old moat house. Its real significance is that it was a lead-in to The Temple of Elemental Evil (ToEE), just about the most popular AD&D module TSR put out. Gary Gygax was very busy and it took awhile to get ToEE completed and out. When it was finally issued, The Village of Hommlet was rolled into it and the combo was released as T1-T4: The Temple of Elemental Evil (there was never any T2, T3 or T4).
I'm telling you, back in 1985, this thing was a massive super module.
There was a third edition sequel, Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil, as well as a fourth edition version.
I actually liked ToEE okay, but more as an idea than actual module to play through. But over the years, Village of Hommlet grew on me.
And now, over three decades later, we're about to play its spiritual successor.
