I liked the first combat on the bridge. Initially I thought I would be quite useless, given I'm only somewhat good with the bow, but I think the Grease spell came in handy, as did the Inspire Courage (though minimally so).
I agree that the map is the most time-consuming part of running combat for a DM, which is why I suggested a web-based map so that players can move their own tokens without you having to do it for them - this would cut down the work for you by half? Less work for you means more fun for you - which means more fun for us? :)
I may have an alternative to roll20 for you, its not as pretty, but i use it on another forum that I play in. Will drop you a pm after setting up a test map.
Edit: I'm fairly new to the Paizo boards and can't seem to figure how to get notifications for new posts aside from RSS feeds. On other forums I can configure such that I get an email alert telling me there is a new post in the game i'm playing, instead of having to check every few minutes. Does anyone know if there's a workaround for this?

Thanks for the kind word Gyness, both here and in PM. I was not under the impression that it was something special, but I do try to give my best from time to time ;-)
GM Iliad - no worries, we all get RL issues sometimes.

Campaign Guide is updated with NPCs and the Journal.
If somebody wants to type up better battle logs and IM them to me, that's great (try to keep them under novel length). I'd like to have better ones in there, but that's one thing I just don't have time for.
I put up a request to paizo that they add a journal/log tab here in the gameplay threads. I think that would be pretty handy.

And, we're back!
I did get the chrome plug in for IE and can access roll20 at work (though it doesn't work with ipad).
I will tinker with it a bit. If it looks like the way to go, I'll have each of you create an account and see if you can use it. This is more of a long term project, though.
awesome, let me know if you have any questions. I'll try and answer them, if i can.

@Lucien. Bluff
I can't see that fitting your circumstances. I will go with this, though:
Sing a song to the house and you can have a 25% chance of succesfully sneaking a Detect Magic into the performance.
Of course, someone might not be happy if the 75% comes up.
@Corvus
Yes, a Knowledge Religion check could help with vampires. Though you'd need to clearly explain how you are using the check.

Corvus Raaf TOTS |

My logic is this. We've seen a werewolf and now we're being served very strong garlic. My character is applying a some deductive reasoning and wondering vampires. I suppose I'd like to do a knowledge check for any other signs - obvious religious symbols on display/ being worn, lots of mirrors, that sort of thing.
In my eyes, this would confirm to Corvus what she's on the look-out for.

While I don't mind checking out roll20.net, it occurred to me that if one of you can't access it regularly, it won't be much use in the immediate future: ie, this campaign.
Can each of you check it out and see if you can access it? As I mentioned, I had to use the google chrome plug in for explorer, which seems to work fine.
Also, it doesn't work with ipad. I have an ipad but I don't use it for our game.
If everybody can use it okay, I'll start learning maps on it.
BTW, it's free.
@Corvus - got it. Will respond in game.

If any of you are into pirate-themed RPGing, you might check out the Razor Coast kickstarter.
If you don't know Frog God Games, they are the successor company of Necromancer Games. Necromancer made pretty much my favorite third edition adventures. They're best known for Rappan Athuk, but they put out quite a few EXCELLENT products.
Frog God published the Slumbering Tsar adventure path and the Northlands saga, among other stuff. And Frog God is coming out with a campaign setting that will include both their stuff and Necromancer's.
I've got almost a dozen Frog God products and they produce top notch stuff. I'm in at the $50 level of Razor Coast, which is a pdf of the player's guide and the campaign book.
Obviously, no pressure, but if you do like piratey play, I'm pretty certain you will be very happy with Razor Coast.

In case I created confusion in this campaign as well as the other:
We'd only be using roll20 for the mapping. Instead of clicking onto the maps I've been uploading to my website, you'd go over to roll20 and look at the map. No interactive anything: just a better looking map.
Everything else stays here on this thread: We wouldn't be using the virtual table top or any of that. I'm just looking for an alternative mapping solution.

Will you be allowing us to move and control our own PC icons maybe later on?

@GM Iliad - honestly I have (still) no idea how roll20 works with maps, and similar to Corvus I post mostly from iPad and/or work. On iPad it's...buggy to say the least, and I was swamped at work to try today. I could try on Monday though. Anyway, simple question - can't you just make maps in roll20 (or your favourite mapping app), just take a screenshot and then post that here? Too much job, not doable? I'm sorry if it is a silly question, I am not very knowledgeable on Information technologies.

Roll20 is actually viewable from iPad and Android... if you (or the GM of the campaign) is a subscriber, which costs somewhere in the area of $5 a month.
I do support roll20, so I will be able to access the map using my Android tablet, however I do completely understand that not everyone will want to pay a fee, much less a recurring one.
I have another alternative, from another site which I play at. If you guys could give some feedback as to whether you can view the map here: http://www.pbpmap.com/maps/HATE2/map.php
Its not as pretty as roll20, but its free.

Argh. It would have come out shortly that it was a troll, but I didn't mean to type that out yet. That's what I get for rushing a post during work.
BTW: I don't think I mentioned this, but you guys are doing a great job. Posting time has been good and game posts have been spot on. I have no complaints running this so far. Thanks.

If the troll is unrelated to the son, why does it seem to be hunting him? Or are they related in some other way?
Especially if the son and the attack on the caravan have an undead thing going and the troll isn't undead?
Get one for me man.
My thoughts exactly - Zane can not grasp in any way what troll have to do with "undead son"? But with a roll of 1 on Sense motive, I guess I'll never know :-(
