Thanks Patrick.
Reposted from the other thread:
Ok, having thought a bit more, an initial concept is coming together. An orphan of Sigil, grew up in and around the Great Bazaar - has probably become an Indep as a result. I'm thinking human female. Has picked up a bit of this and a bit of that over her tender years - so maybe a class that has a range of abilities, such as bard, magus, one of the hybrid classes? Mysterious or clouded past, maybe even the old amnesia cliche. She may be a prime originally but has been in the Cage for a good few years. May have some artefact from her past - maybe something others are looking for. Just as a thought (not locked in) do you have any objection to the black blade magus archetype? Perhaps she's recently started taking some jobs for the Lightning Guild.

It'll be later on today at the earliest (probably tomorrow) before I get a chance to do much with this, got a few concepts bouncing around in my head.
One is the suli/sylph concept from the other thread, not sure on that one yet as the concept for the character doesn't work with underage ones very well, still, I might modify it.
The second concept just now is from an anime series Ive been watching, Fairy Tale (oddly it got a lot better after the first few episodes). There's a catgirl on there named Milliana that's struck me as an amusing character to try using as a base concept.
Not sure which of those I'll use yet or if it will be something else entirely yet.

well here I am again.
considering my lack of knowledge of Sigil (well in comparison to most of you guys) I will probably play someone new to the world (I mean city)
as long as the "Clueless" term does not start to become to annoying.
Just need some info on exactly what we need to do for character creation, I have a couple of ideas.
one would be a gnome summoner (kind of steampunk-ish) (can I start with a clockwork item?)
the other I am not sure but kind of thor like with a big hammer and some lightning

Woohoo!
I have questions about builds.
What races are available, and what do we do if there are not currently rules for a race in PF?
What if we want to play a race more powerful than the Core races?
What classes are available?
Are we using a point buy for ability scores?
Are we using traits?
Thanks!

Patrick Curtin |

Well, it being Sigil, you can play pretty much any race you want. With the power levels, there might have to be some adjustments. Perhaps taking a decrease in power until a level is earned and then having the sequestered power 'mature'.
I usually do a 25-point buy. Double Max HP on first level. I'm not sure if I'm going to go with Max HPs after that, but for sure double max first level.
I'll have to go over the trait rules, but I see nothing too wrong with that.

Ok, going with the gnome summoner: here is the pic
she carries a wind-up metal teddybear a clockwork spy
probably will look something like this
this is all depending on what is allowed of course.

That looks ok. The clockwork spy you might have to build up to. I'm not sure what the cost of an item like that would be, but you will only have a 1st level characters starting cash.

Found the cost: It has a cost of 1250gp
EDIT: Are we beginning with class levels or NPC levels? Also instead of being a clockwork spy, maybe just a wind up toy that walks for a little bit.

Are we going to use the background skill rules as well?
Also, I've decided, for now at least, to go with the catfolk idea, sound a lot of fun and is quite different from what I've played so far. Going for arcane trickster via unchained rogue and sorcerer. She's a light hearted fun loving catgirl with an absolute fixation on adorable kittys!

that sound cool, I could change my ediolon to look more like a cat...
(maybe... maybe not still unsure)

Ok, so as of now we have:
Edward
Mothman
Rknop
Drogoney
Celestial Healer
Flash
Tanner
Possible-given spot if wanted
Woran
On the list for a possible spot
Theta Thief
Imortalmage
Ok. With Imortalmage I think I'm going to close recruiting for now. I haven't heard from Woran, but if I put everyone in, then I'd be pushing the limits. I'll give Woran until the end of the weekend to reply, then we'll see from there

Dang!! I would love a chance to play Planescape. It is simply the best setting ever, but that is only my opinion of course :D
Is there still room/time for a concept submission?
I'll tell you what. I'll need a few names for an alternates list to call up if we get a lot of drop outs. Interested? You can make a concept if you wish.

Patrick Curtin |

Wow... This is awkward.
I forgot to mention that I have ZERO experience playing Pathfinder. I hope this is okay?
It's not a problem. We are starting this game at Rock-bottom 1st level no frills so you can learn the game. I will mention you are on the possible list still. You are in line for a slot, but it's not 100%. I just wanted to make sure there were no miscommunications:)

Patrick Curtin |

Tossing my hat into the ring for if you have drop outs or want to expand your roster.
Fair amount of Planescape experience, ain't no clueless berk round here. I've made my jink and known round the hive as a real cutter. Or maybe I'm just some clever nutter...
I will put you on the alternate list Almagafor. Always good to have a trig cutter in the background

Are there mechanical benefits for different ranks in factions? Can our characters start as namers in a faction? Can we rise through the ranks in a manner that would change canon because a recognized character holds a position?
You will not start in a faction. Through gaming you can attempt to join a faction. There are some 3E faction benefits, I'd have to take a look at my Dragon mag back issues. I think there was an article there. Cannon isn't concrete. If somehow you become a factotum or higher, then we let history unfold. The Faction War is not inevitable

That'd be hilarious.
Also, Patrick, I think you missed my last question, Background Skills? Yes or no?
If you could clarify? Background as in profession? Or are we talking something else?

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Somethings I'd like the players to do for me:
- A background story
- Come up with thumbnail sketches of five friends/allies/contacts
- Also do five enemies/rivals
- long-term character goals
- A list of items you'd like your character to eventually obtain
- Any motivations/hopes/fears for the character
- Does the character have family? Are they close? Still alive?

Have I been out of the Paizo loop that long? It's great to see you back Mothy! :DNot too bad. How's life treating you nowadays?
I checked to make sure, but you're not back on Facebook yet, are you?
Playing poker on FB. Chat's off since internet in my country is slow.
Hey Pat :-)
