Motivates Chern? Common sense.
There was nothing to do in town, as I understood the case, except go to the tavern, or go to a herbalist shop. Why would I want to go to a herbalist shop?
Man with contagious disease drops in front of me... I did what 99% of all human beings would do, even in the modern day, I didn't touch him. At all. Feel sorry for him? Sure. Get infected? No. That is dumb. Han Solo would do the same at the cantina, and probably shoot him if he tried to touch him. Chern is not a paladin, more Solo, less Skywalker.
Weird noises at night... seriously? A crash? How much time have you and Brian spent in the wilderness? Weird crashing noises happen. If you don't see in the dark, you really don't go exploring until day light, you stay by the fire. Weird noises of 'help me' or 'i'm a naked woman can, somebody help me carry all this cold beer', I'll swing over.
If Chern also went with Dakkar, that would avoid violence how? I'm by an obvious fire. Why should we be out looking for Kevin? We have a campfire and he's hiding in a tree. He can come find us.

True. In future, say things like "Curse the gods." or something instead of swearing.

Any thoughts on my comment on my familiar use? Am I taking it too far or does the narrative advantage outweigh the bending of the rules?
I was commenting to kev that I took the alignment of Emrys' character sheet, but I added chaotic good to Arthur's stats. For my character it is more important to play the character, but it is the purpose of the familiar to keep the character moving forward properly. I might as well have made my familiar a cricket I suppose.

Like I said, I'm more Han Solo, who is definitely *A* hero of a story... but he still shot first. F^%$ YOU GREEDO!!!
Mind you, playing a paladin-type can be fun too, but I didn't this time. I don't think any of us did, so there is no 'moral centre' character to try aligning the party as a whole towards any one objective, at least none that have tried to.
I don't mind helping to find these rare plants... but you'd actually have to flat out ask Chern to help (which Dakkar has), rather than planting people who need help, and hope Chern steps up. Otherwise, like most people, he'll just head for the hills, and let the plague burn itself out.
If I had a connection to some of these people, I'd be more inclined to step-up as well, but since the campaign has only just started, that is still a work in progress.

Does Dakkar being your blood relation and him being friends with the herbalist count as a connection?

Of course he shot first. Greedo was three feet away. No one misses a stationary target from that kind of range.

You may want to create a second alias as Arthur.

Not unless they are wearing a storm trooper uniform

Kev, you may want to hail the camp, introduce and describe yourself and explain that Laurel sent you to help as the local crime syndicate wants her stopped.
Just sayin'
Then we can move on.

Updated campaign info again. Now with how we're handling encumbrance.
For example, a look at Chern's character sheet shows me the following....
Chern
Strength 14. Chern can carry 14 increments as a light load.
Longbow 3 lbs
Shortsword 3 lbs
Dagger 1 lbs
Gauntlet 1 lbs (I'm guessing he has two) 2 lbs
20 arrows 3 lbs
Hide armor 25 lbs.
Fighter's KIt 29 lbs
Explorer's Outfit 8 lbs
Troll Slayer's Kit 17 lbs
Assuming his other items are on his mule, that results in roughly 91 lbs of gear. Rounding down to 90 lbs.
90/5 = 18, a medium load. If we assume the Fighter and Troll Slayer's Kits are on the mule as well, this drops to a mere 46 pounds, rounded down to 45.
45/5 = 9, a light load.
Make sense?

I take umbrage to the statement that there is no moral centre of the group. I think that Muddy is the moral centre. He likes to help people. I mean....he's just a good ol boy, never meaning no harm. Beats all you never saw, been in trouble with the law since the day he was born. Just makin his way, the only way he knows how. That's just a little bit more than the law will allow.

Even with his Uncle Jesse being the Duke?

The initial idea was to have you and Balder know each other to help with party cohesion. Two traveling entertaineers. It just made sense. I've mentioned it more than once. You hadn't really responded to it to say yes or no.
You don't know he's a bard. Or that he snores for that matter.
DM_Darkmoon |
Was told there were travelling with a minstral so this is why I call him a bard, when if fact he is actually something else all together, as for the snoring, he did post a comment that he was snoring, so can i not assume that he is still snoring when i enter the camp?
Hmmm.....my bad. Right you are.
I just don't want people to tell what other characters do in their posts (I reserve the right to do it myself from time to time, however, to move things along or if someone is going to be away.)
Wilon |
It is always off unless other wise I state. My other posts had me puting it on and off before and after the battle in the ally.
My character will be doing lots of things like tumbling, backflips juggling while not in combat. Should k be doing DC. Checks for these times? Or only when trying to for profit and combat?

Only when trying to have some sort of outcome that matters. The rest is just practice. Right you are.

So am i right to assume that scribe scroll only costs 12.5 GP since that's half the cost of the scroll? cause it seems that way, it says two hours if the base price is less than 250gp, and since cure lights is 25gp..seems right
You are correct. For a first level scroll at caster level one. 12.5 gp.
