Well I made it home...but I'm beat. I promise I'll get a big post up tomorrow. I don't post much on the weekends, but I'll try to get everything ready so that we can begin in earnest on Monday.
I'm also going to make a spoiler tag for each character in the campaign info area, that includes some facts about your characters class, race, and backgrounds, so it will be there for my quick reference so be sure and check it for accuracy when it shows up.

Supreme Being |

OK. Character summaries up. Please review yours, and fill in any missing blanks. Remember to check...
- (2) Personality traits: [i]I don't have a problem with one now, and one later, but you'll want two eventually at least for inspiration.
- Check for your Trinket
- Check for any missing info.
You can either post changes here or PM me. I'll finally get a game post up before the weekend is over, and we'll roll from there.
PS: Will probably be taking on a 6th character as a favor, so keep you're eyes peeled.

Vanoe'adae |

1d100 ⇒ 54
Trinket: A candle that can't be lit. (as the background gives Vano "a token to remember your parents by," I think this could be it. It's clearly elvish work, he's had it as long as he can remember, and on some level he believes if he can figure out how it works, he'll know who his parents are.
2nd Personality trait: (assuming I can make my own) I assume the worst of anyone who makes any overt displays of wealth. "Not enough that they clearly have more than they need, they have to rub everyone's face in it, mutter mutter mutter."

Greetings.
Kelarith asked to have me added to the game, and the Supreme Being gave the go ahead. I made up a character and everything on my own while I was trying to figure out how Paizo's boards work - I've had an account here for a long while, but never used it. He said to make a post here so I could be added.
So...hai there!

Darkfae |

Figured out the whole aliases thing! But I cannot post as the character till I make ten posts, which I'll have to correct before we start.
Also, since you can't use off-site avatars, here's the image I put on her character sheet. I used a form PDF version of the Adventurer's League one to make her.

Darkfae |

I looked at the "random connections" thing. I saw that 1, 5, and 7 were taken. I don't know if we all have to have them, but I'll take one; number 10 was appealing, and would work...right up till that whole "spread the word" thing.
3. Every five nights, you have a strange sequence of apocalyptic dreams. The world is destroyed by cold, choking fumes, lightning storms, waves of acid and horrible fire. Each time the dream ends with ten evil eyes glaring at you from the darkness. You feel a strange compulsion to travel to Greenest. Perhaps the answer to the riddle of your dreams awaits you there.
I could easily see a wizard type having this issue come up. I could also see Narwa having angry eyes staring at her, for completely unrelated reasons to the dream~.

Hi Darkfae. Welcome to the game. I'm pretty sure you can post as your new alias right away. Just choose her from the drop down list at the bottom of this posting window. I've never had any problem posting as a new alias right away.
Having the 'recurring' dream as your background is fine. I might just use it to work you into the game... :-).
Last but not least...I'll need you to use the dice roller on these boards to roll your ability scores. Not that I don't trust you, but everyone else had to and it equals the playing field. Their aren't many adjustments at Level 1 for 5E, so it shouldn't take too much time to update your profile.
If you're not sure now to do that?
In your actual post replace {dice} with [
{dice}4d6{/dice}
If you do this 6 times (usually the old cut and paste thing) it should give you 6 scores. Just pick the highest three from each, arrange as you'd like, and bingo...new scores.
Thanks, and again welcome to the game.

Whenever I do that, I get an error message about not being able to do so until my account has made 10 posts, and it tries to force me to change my forum username if I want to use a different name to post. Prior to this, I've never bothered posting on the forums here.

Not a problem. I had no idea how to use the boards at all or my account in general at first, so I just used the one and only online creator Google managed to find, though that screwed up when it propagated it into an actual character sheet (stuff wasn't lined up right, and it messed up my equipment once I actually looked at it).
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 5) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 1) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 3) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 4) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 4) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 4) = 11

And updated the character. The alias can be viewed here. Once I take a nap (running off 3 hours of sleep ATM - I had a whole bunch of people returning to/joining FFXIV I was helping last night), I'll get the PDF up on Drive and linked too so the pretty pretty can be viewed for shiggles and gits.

Thanks for doing that. I haven't reviewed each character in detail yet...I'll get to that this week, but you might want to re-check your equipment. You get only what your background, and class give you.

Supreme Being |

We can't use the gold our class gives us to purchase stuff? O.o?
You either get starting gold, or the equipment listed. In this case we're taking the equipment listed so I see...
- A quarterstaff or dagger
- A component pouch or arcane focus
- A scholars pack or and explorers pack
- A spellbook
- A crowbar
- A set of dark common clother
- A belt pouch with 15 gp
Having proficiency with a tool does not give you the tool.

Supreme Being |

Oh, so we have to take the starting packages, no option for taking the gold and building our own?
Yes. The game offers it as an option, and I chose the packages. There will be time to shop in the game, but 5E assumes you're just starting out as an adventurer, and don't have much yet, or you've spent most of what you have on weapons and armor etc. There will be opportunity either here, or on your journey to buy / acquire things however.
Hence only taking 300 xp to go level 2.

Supreme Being |

No problem. Looks like you're up to 10 posts as well, so hopefully you can post in the gameplay thread with your alias. We're ready for you!!!

Narwa Miril |

And jumped in finally. Had some weird sleep issues cus medical stuff today - awake enough to be around, but not enough to focus on role play. Finally got some sleep and got away from responsibilities, and could post; she wasn't inside the roadhouse, though, so it will take another post or two for interaction to begin.

Supreme Being |

Don't worry Narwa. Only one post a weekday is required. More is welcome, but sometimes my work keeps me tied up pretty tight.
In fact I'll be leaving on a trip this afternoon, and won't return till Friday evening, so posting will be spotty, but I'll try my best to get up a post a day.

Vano wrote:Up to you, Bor, if you see Vano sneaking in or not.I won't roll if you don't! I planned on sleeping on the roof anyway. Don't steal my stuff!
Vano isn't above stealing, but he looks at the potential risks and rewards. Bor seems dangerous, loud and above all, poor. Risk being killed or called out as a thief, to steal from a guy who's sleeping in the stable? Now if you'd been throwing a lot of silver around....

Okay, noted! I was just mid-RP with Dorn, so I wanted to note it.

Supreme Being |

Sorry about the lack of posting guys. Just got into my hotel. I'll catch up tomorrow.
To summarize...
Tycandus - Wagons that just arrived...maybe
Narwa & Vano - Barthens
Dorn, Bor, and Zennor - Lionshield
Is this correct?

Kelarith |

Pretty much. I was looking to go to warehouses, or a caravansary. Or a place where any merchant caravans put in, or take off to find if there are any that are heading south, even if they're not going all the way through. Figure we can catch another caravan south from that etc. Eventually someone's got to go to Greenest. It's a pretty big hub.

Supreme Being |

No Way. I said I'd post after the long holiday. I'll bring us up to date tonight.

Supreme Being |

No problem. I don't post much on the weekend...usually just once unless I end up with a lot of free time.
In addition sometimes I take extended business trips, and though I try to post daily, sometimes things drift a bit. I'll try to give warning if that is going to happen however.

Dorn Kindleheart |

Hey, SB, I hope you don't take my not buying the donkey as being upset with you or anything. I didn't realize how expensive saddlebags and bit and bridle were when I first started haggling.
I just saw "donkeys 8gp" and got all excited about buying one. I was gonna name her Sam. :-)
But then I realized how much wasn't included and did the math. It was just a little out of my league. But hopefully I can pick one up when we get to Greenest.
By the way, is the general consensus still that we travel right away?
-Posted with Wayfinder

Supreme Being |

OK. It looks like Bor, and Tycandus are all hitting the FF button. If nobody speaks otherwise, I'll get us to Greenest this weekend. Feel free to chime in if you feel differently, as we can make the journey last a while if you'd like.
Also...Narwa...are you still with us?

Bor Bersk |

I wouldnt mind a scuffle or two along the way. I'd like to make good on bringing the bandits to justice but I'm not sure anyone wants to micro manage months of rations and night watches. I'm more interested in getting on the road than fast forwarding to greenest but either option is fine by me.

Supreme Being |

So I believe the concensus is to expedite the journey a bit.
I'll FF through most of the journey, but will make at least one encounter along the way, just to get a feel for things, before we jump right in. The easiest / safest route is as follows:
- Since it is late morning you will not be able to make it all the way to Leilon today. There is a roadhouse called "The Vine of Plenty" that you can make before nightfall.
- The second day should bring you to Leilon before noon. You can overnight here or press on and camp in the wilderness this evening.
- It is about 250 miles south to Waterdeep along the High Road, which should take about 10 days on foot. There is either a village, or a roadhouse / inn that can provide a place to spend the evening at the end of each day.
- The next large settlement is Daggerford Which is about 5 days south of Waterdeep along the Trade Way. It is again a fairly well settled area, and should have safe overnights.
- From Daggerford the journey continues Southeast the Dragonspear. This journey along the Trade way will also take about 10-days. The middle two nights of this section will require some dangerous overnights, as the path passes between the High Moor, and The Troll Hills. The rest of this leg is fairly safe.
- The most dangerous leg of the journey is the section from Dragonspear south to Soubar. Only a night at "The War Pig" on night 6 is safe. The rest of this 10-day journey will require wilderness camping.
- The two day journey south from Soubar to Triel is mostly safe, though a bit taxing due to the hilly terrain. You should be able to find numerous farmsteads willing to put you up for the evening.
- It is another two days from Triel to Scornubel, and after this long time in rural areas the hustle and bustle of a large city will probably be most welcome. This two days should be safe if you watch your purse, as there are numerous hamlets, and small villages along the way.
- The three days from Scornubel to Berdusk should be fairly simple. Finally the name Greenest will be commonly known.
- After another two days of travel through fertile farmlands, you will finally reach your destination of Greenest.
So 48 days of travel assuming good weather and no trouble (Snicker...snicker...snicker). You are welcome to spend more than one day in any location, so after reviewing, or at anytime during the play, let me know and we can pause and spend some time wherever you wish.
So some information I'd like to collect...
- Marching order for the group. The walking path along the road usually allows for two abreast. If you walk on the road there are room for 6-abreast, but there is danger of being run down, and the wagon ruts are not the most comfortable walking.
- Any special conditions where this might change.
- Any special behaviors (Hunting, fishing, trading) along the way?
- When you camp what are your preparations?
- What, if any are your overnight watches?
thanks for you input, and I'll get us rolling. The first post will find the party arriving at The Vine of Plenty Just before sunset...tired and thirsty.
