Aasimar Paladin 4

With deadly efficiency, Gregori continues his assult on the enemy striking at the opponent closest to the door.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Minor Crab-beast

Gregori cuts into the mongrel and puts him bloodied and on the floor, out of the fight.

Liberty taken:

Nessa hacks at the remaining foe...
Little Greatsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 for 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
...putting him at similar condition. With both of the immediate threats dealt with, you have a few moments to compose yourselves.

Lann pads forward to see the mongrels relieved of weapons as you look to the closed door before you.

Perception DC15:
Behind the door you can hear muffled shouts and the pad of feet.

Combat over for now...

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Too far in the back to pick up on any details of the battle, Docia moves up to the barricade with a smile. "Well, that was tidy. No one hurt? Oh, Miss Glenbrook, is your arm all right?"

Looks like Nessa's our sole casualty at 16/24.

Roll Perception for Lann? At this rate, none of the PCs are going to notice anything. Eight seems to be the number of the day, either natural or accumulated.

Minor Crab-beast

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Lann finishes relieving the fallen of the weapons before his head snaps up. Eyes narrow as he hisses "There is movement beyond the door... they ready for us - we should press the attack..."

I will move up next to Nessa or Gregori (whomever is farther back) and use Guidance on them.

Female Human (Taldan) Bard (archaeologist) 2 / Swashbuckler (inspired blade) 2

"Shall we send in Squire Lightman first to even the odds?" Eudocia murmurs, referring to recasting her dancing lights cantrip. "They're sure to see us coming anyway; at least the first man through will be able to see them as well."

Suggest using open/close to open the makeshift door if it's not locked and it's doorlike enough that the DM will allow it.

Aasimar Paladin 4

Pretty sound to me.

Gregori sets himself in front of the door, shield raised, sword at the ready.

Female Human (Taldan) Bard (archaeologist) 2 / Swashbuckler (inspired blade) 2

Okay, plan is open/close on the door if possible, send in lightguy, followed by Gregori (under Theodric's guidance), then Nessa, then Lann (since he seems to be a melee combatant who enjoys slaughtering his own kind). If there's room, then Harrol, Docia and Theodric bring up the rear and hope to stay out of melee.

Minor Crab-beast

The group sets up swiftly and sees the door opened through force of cantrip. The lingering smells of cooked meat and rank bodies waft in through the opened portal. Ten bedrolls, each piled with coarse blankets and animal furs, surround a fire pit filled with glowing coals. Tanned hides hang stretched on the walls, each crudely painted with scenes of deformed humanoids hunting giant vermin in caves.

Two more of the deformed mongrelmen stand near to the bedrolls, with the look of the recently awakened upon them... but they still hold weapons ready. Initially driven to pause as the light-squire floats through the door towards them, the initiative is yours to take.

In essence they're surprised - giving you a surprise round

Theodric's bolt is well aimed, scoring a glancing blow upon one of the mongrelfolk. Nessa advances through the doorway, sword in hand, with Eudocia at her side.

Can Gregori charge to H10?

Minor Crab-beast

Gregori - yep, that charge lane is open - and you'll end up in G,11

Aasimar Paladin 4

Gregori charges forward to strike at the opponent at the back of the room, the narrow dooway and adjustment resulting in an awkward swing.

Gregori's charge is finished with a heavy handed strike that the mongrelman is able to avoid.

As you move into the room you are olfactorially assaulted with the stench of old sweat and musty bedding. The mongrelfolk are slowly stamping down their shock at your entrance and look to be fighting back shortly...

A mental haze descends upon one of the mongrelfolk...
Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
...but is does not succumb.

Nessa is forced to back away as a club is swung workmanlike and brutal...
Club: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
...her armor barely deflecting it from causing more significant harm than a likely burgeoning bruise.

The injured mongrelman backs away from both Gregori and Lann, eyes spitting hate at Lann in particular... before he draws open the door beside him. The small room that is opened has a rack of hooks hanging from the ceiling, all with cured slabs of meat dangling from them. The stale scent of sweat in the room is mixed with a smoky flavor coming from the pantry. A group of barrels appears to hold other preserved foodstuffs.

However among the stores is also a stockily built lizard that rears up at the intrusion and looks agressively towards you.

"No, I don't think so," Docia cautions the mongrelmen. "This dance floor is crowded enough as it is." Retrieving a brass key from a belt pouch, she points it toward the newly-opened door and turns it, speaking a command, and the door closes again in the lizard's face.

As Gregori advances, Harrol clutches at the dagger at his belt and moves alongside him, driving he mongrelman back a few paces with a series of wild jabs.

Minor Crab-beast

The mongrelman looks surprised as Eudocia's trick sees the portal just opened slammed shut once more. The lizard disappears from view as Lann steps forward with the chief's gift...
Morningstar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 for 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Theodric again casts his spell, not waiting to see if it works this time before he addresses the remaining enemy.

We are not here for war, merely to reach the surface. Surrender and call off the beast and you can keep your life after we leave.

We might need to barricade the door, if possible.
