First gameplay post is up! If you could put your AC, Saves, Perception and character race and class into the line so it shows up when you post, I would appreciate it. Feel free to put anything else you think might be useful.
Please make sure you bold whenever your character is talking, makes it easy to differentiate between texts. Other than that, lets all have a great time!
Feel free to post when you can, I am logging off till tomorrow morning.

Medrick is here. Just spent all his money... down to 1 credit. Hope we don't need to bribe anyone.

![]() |

Technomancer, checking in! I'll make my way over to Gameplay shortly. After going on a shopping spree I have 73 credits left, which apparently doesn't get you much.

![]() |

No, starting money disappears very quickly. You can pick up those odds and ends like a com unit. And such. I am lucky to of started with a little extra cash from running 1-00.
**edit** ouch I probably should of picked up a spare battery and some extra ammo. I hope I don't run out!
@GM does it look like I have everything you are looking for on my class and race lines?

![]() |

Okay, Lashunta Mechanic checking in.
I'm trying to learn a lot in a little time so some mistakes may occur, but i will try to fix them as quick as i can. Thank you for your patience.

Checking in!
First time playing SFS, so be patient with me. Thanks!

No need to buy a comm unit, it comes with your armor.
Same answer on the flashlight, which comes with the comm unit that comes with your armor.

No worries on being new and making mistakes! I am new to Starfinder Society, but not Starfinder or Organized Play. When we make mistakes, we will just fix them. :)
Well... we're all a bit new to Starfinder. I mean, the thing was only officially released in August at GenCon!

Is there a boon for brand new SFS players, like the one in PFS? I assume we start with no boons.

![]() |

Player: Caro Cogitatus
Character: Serrarra Ina
PFS#: 106336-703
Homeworld: Castrovel
Day Job: Serrarra prefers to keep her sources of income private.
Thanks for running this, Krash!

![]() |

You start with the one for your faction.
There is also a boon that can be applied only to your -701 character. Poor Triskid is my -703 character and thus doesn't have that one!

![]() |

It's the symbol next to the name or do you want us to also write it on our race/class line.

![]() |

Where can I find the boon for my -701 character? Did I miss it in the SFS Guide?

![]() |

Never mind. I found it. Thanks!

![]() |

For future reference: Welcome To Starfinder Boon applies to your -701 character and provides one of three nifty benefits, which you can choose when you slot the boon.

![]() |

Under the spoiler is the version I have (I picked the first option)
Starfinder Society Care Package (Slotless Boon; Limited Use): As a recent graduate of the Starfinder Society’s accelerated
training program, you’ve received a potent item to aid in your first missions. This boon provides your character with one
of the three following options. Select one option, and cross the remaining two off the Chronicle sheet.
▫ Elixir of Renewal: You gain a special elixir that you can consume as if it were a serum in order to restore 2d8
Hit Points as well as 1d4 points of one type of ability damage. You can use this elixir only once, even if you have an
ability or effect that would allow you to benefit from the serum multiple times. Check the box that precedes this boon
when you use this elixir. Only you can use this elixir and it has effective market price of 0 credits if sold.
While every character can purchase a serum of healing, this free gift is more potent than a typical starting serum.
The elixir is also good at curing ability damage, which often accompanies poison, disease, and other afflictions.
Consider this option if you cannot cast healing spells and want a powerful way to heal yourself in an emergency.

Boons:
I am slotting:
Promotional: Character Folio
Faction: Second Seekers
Social: Knights of Golarion Affiliation
Slotless: Society Rebuilder
The last two are described in my profile.

![]() |

Boons slotted:
Slotless: Welcome to the Pathfinders: Tattoo of the Starfinder
Faction: Wayfinders

![]() |

So, I know a little about boon slots for Starfinder; but I'm not sure which ones I can use or even what they do.
I guess that I'll just have the Dataphiles Faction boon and leave the others empty

![]() |

If this is your first adventure, probably the only boon you have so far. The boon slots make things a lot more organized than PFS (I don't know if you play that) but it limits the amount of boons you can have at a time. They are grouped into those different categories listed in the guide. You can get more by either spending reputation (all the options for that are listed in the guide) or chronicle sheets at the end of an adventure. When we finish this one, you should ask the GM for the "Welcome to the Society" boon if this is your first character.
So pretty much, as we play these characers, we acquire a bunch of buffs and then after the briefing, we can choose which ones we want on us for that adventure.
**edit**
We can also buy stuff from paizo and they give boons. Most are things like you get to reroll a d20.

![]() |

Neat. I'll definitely have to do some research on the boons floating around. Could make homebrewed games more interesting.
Definitely my first XFS (PFS or SFS) game; but I'm used to the system and to pbp, so at this point it's just adjusting to the Starfinder part of it all :D

![]() |

Honestly, my last homebrew pathfinder I made a system similar to the faction system. It helps add depth to characters, especially for those people who struggle with getting into the role play. I didn't try the boon system. But I may give it a try. But yeah, so far I really enjoy the starfinder system and the changes to society play.
The society guide book (free download on paizo website) lists all of the boons you can buy using your reputation. The other boons are ones we will see as we come across them in the adventures.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Now that's what I like to see! I check here frequently and in the matter of 3 hours there were 15 posts made. I like this group!

![]() |

oh, my goodness. i've been a little out of commission most of today and now i see like 16 new posts. O.O

![]() |

I would think that your characters would have a few ideas about how to fake a death, and create a new identity. Don't worry about making a check for that. If you think your character would know that you can get a body at a morgue or medical training center, they know it!
If you think they would know how to build an alias, they know it!
Let me know HOW you want to do it, and that's where the checks will come in. Feel free to ask OOC first if you want.
Julakesh, especially with your intelligence roll, I would think she knows where the newly dead are kept.

![]() |

I am a grad student so my days are always weird. But I make it an effort to check in as often as I can. It often serves as a much needed distraction from school work haha.

![]() |

Any other ideas before we decide on a method of body-snatching?
Julakesh obviously votes we visit the battle dome, but I think the best ideas are to see if Medrick can use to his influence to legally get us a corpse. Otherwise popping by an old folks home and pretending to be transporters is the best illegal option.
Thoughts?

![]() |

Wow, those options got dark real quick.
I could probably whip up some 'official' looking transfer papers for that poor old person that won't see it coming.
I'm not saying we should, but you know; options.
Otherwise it might be good to find one at the dome and use the influence to help with changing the body's looks after we 'acquire' it.

![]() |

I would suggest the medical route first. Seems the least unethical (these are unclaimed bodies that would get sliced up by some amature) where Triskid's idea is stealing someone's loved one's body. I am up for giving that try if mine doesn't work. And as a last resort, I would say give the battle dome a try... at least that is the hierarchy that Medrick has made in his mind. Thoughts?

![]() |

Agreed.

![]() |

Sorry... the rant should of probably gone into the discussion. For anyone wondering, this is the quote from the book I was talking about.
A Profession skill should not overlap with existing skills. For example, if you want to play a scientist, you should put ranks into Life Science or Physical Science rather than create a Profession (scientist) skill.
Am I wrong for thinking that medicine should overlap with profession medical?

![]() |

Sorry for being absent for this decision-making process. The difficulties with the site have been making it hard for me to post. The plan sounds good to me and I don't think Yuta has anything to add to it at the moment.

![]() |

No complaints here. Real Life takes precedence.

![]() |

Of course! Real life always takes presidency. I hope everything is okay.

![]() |

Hey! we are back (for now at least...) This week has been brutal. I hope everyone has stuck around the slog and that we are all still here and want to play!

![]() |

the adventure lists profession medic? That is lame that is a profession that is separate than medicine. Needless to say, after this adventure, I will be using the first level rebuild rule to move some skills around. Being a professional medic is what this whole character was about. But the rules even state that you can't make a profession that over laps with a different skill (the example the book gives profession scientist doesn't exist because there are science skills). So frustrating!
Proffession Medic isn't specifically listed, but a profession in a medical field.
If you want to be a medic, you should just put skills in medicine. As a paramedic, and looking at the definition of Profession, a medic is someone that just knows medicine. They know how to fix people, and that's about it. However, a physician would need to know Life Science, Medicine, and, arguably, Computers.
Oddly enough the only profession listed in the Core Rulebook that sounds medical is "lab technician."

![]() |

Interesting. I really had thought hard and researched the rules about it and figured that I would pass up the money and not take it as a profession because my interpretation was that a profession in the medical field would be the same as scientist. Both are just the profession of allying a different skill. But if medical professions are something that will come up, I will gladly pick up battle medic (or paramedic) as a skill after this adventure. Thanks for your input.
