Bast fires the boosted thrusters and shoots right past the Lawblight.
Round One - Gunnery
The pirate ship is slow to react to your movement, but it's coilgun turret swings around and fires. A gyrolaser hidden in the Lawblight's tail also fires! The two weapons cut through your portside shields and rip into the outer hull.
Lawblight coilgun: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Damage: 4d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 3) = 11
Lawblight gyrolaser: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
... 19 total, port shields down and 9 hull damage!

Blax-9's gunnery modifier should be Piloting ranks + Dex + ship computer bonus (+2 for the Loreseeker)
Blax-9 tries to focus aim but pulls the trigger a split-second late. The enemy's return fire rocks the Loreseeker and bucks his shot wide.

Bast pulls the Loreseeker around in a hard left turn, driving you all into your seats with the high-G maneuver, and sticks into the Lawblight's trail. He follows it around the debris field, jinking left and right to evade incoming shots.

The Lawblight obliges, firing the aft laser and coilgun again. Despite Bast's jinking, they cut through your shields once again. The second shot hits your portside fire control, and that weapon starts glitching.

Blax-9 and Lasereater fire forward as Bast brings your ship about. The two shots cut through the pirates' shields and ripple the hull. Arcs of electricity shoot out of the hull, indicating a breach in their power system.
Port shields down, 9 damage to hull!
Critical System: 1d100 ⇒ 88 = Power core!
Round Four - Engineering
Lawblight engineer Patch power core (DC 14): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
The arcing subsides as the Lawblight's engineer adjusts the power distribution.
