Jaira didnt make the plating move, she adjusted the gravity plating to spike the gravity strength then tilt the gravity at an angle, therefore, no cover and it uses existing parts except for the trigger sensor, which I hope a simple sensor doesnt cost 700 credits, Ill deduct anyway for now.
I do find it amusing how everyone thought the plating moved though.
Also, if my intent was to avoid letting someone on the ship know, I hardly think Ill be oblivious and just let them stumble into the demonstration.

Okay, what I need from you now is a decisive plan of attack on how to handle these pirates. If you have any questions please, please, please ask them. I am more than willing to help you out. Also, knowledge checks, particularly knowledge tactics will allow me to help you even further.
Once we have a plan decided please spell it out for me here in the discussion thread and let me know you are ready to go.
Also, any questions you have for me about the situation should be ask here in the discussion as well.
RP your plan with each other.

Venkru Vong |

Me too, so far my idea is that we will argue that going after a target (assassination/bounty) and taking other stuff as bonus is way better than taking loot and then maybe attempting to ransom random people killing them, or making slaves.....
In fact we are recruiting for our organization!

Shanosuke |

Hmm., you guys are considering forming your own faction? I haven't had a team of players do that in a long time. Last time it was an epic thing they did that resulted in a galactic faction that was vying for control of the galaxy completely governed and run by the players. It was really well done too.
Be interesting to see what kind of faction you all might make. It's possible to do anything.

Shanosuke |

@Jaira - It's okay, this game is running as a casual pace anyways. I'm not going to end it as long as people don't disappear permanently.
@Faction Idea - You will find in this line of work, power vacuums occur often. In fact, every group of players I have had run this game have made their own factions by filling in a vacuum or joining/inciting a coup.
This game is not railroaded. The story and missions are only present to help the party get together and to give....how do I say this...."less creative" players something fun to do in a world not as full of idle adventuring as Pathfinder.
I remember one of the few times I simply tossed a player into the star wars universe with no story to follow.....they became a zookeeper and settled down. It was a real short game.

Venkru Vong |

So if we found a guy or small team who was well organized but in a pinch (irony would be on Zadora's hit list) and offer them protection to join up....
It's an offer they can't refuse.
What form would active bounties take in the SW universe?
Or specifically in Shanosuke's world?
....I plan to go bounty hunter soon.

Venkru Vong |

Not usually a fan of splitting up, (especially in pbp) but with com-links it could work fine...
How to split seems the next question.
Jaira and Kloh (seem vulnerable to attacks and arguments)
Kloh and Sleen (too much Nautolan)
Seems either a
Venkru / Jaria or Kloh
and a
Sleen /who ever is left is ideal.
Guess we could send out the droideka with some group.

I want to apologize. Black Friday is coming up and I work in retail. I have another project going on right now that needs my attention as well. So I won't be posting as much for the next two weeks. I will try to get posts in where I can but all the work has left me incredibly worn out.
I hope to have things moving a little faster after Thanksgiving and the speed should pick up even more after Christmas. Until then I apologize again for the slow posting and I hope that you all continue to stick with me until then.

Jaira Kizur |

OMG, not over yet for me, out of the past 60 hours, I worked 41 and slept for 5. I still need to find books for next semester, which starts on the 14th, and I haven't got next week's schedule yet, and since my "partner" got moved (he got caught sleeping by our client, lol) I probably will have to work his shifts until someone else can be brought over, and with the new Stockyards contract (totally awesome gig over there, I covered down yesterday!), personnel are stretched thin. I will totally have a nice paycheck for a few weeks anyway.

Shanosuke |

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Attention: I have decided to not start anymore PBP campaigns, nor will I be recruiting for existing games anymore.
I will continue to run the existing games as long as the existing players continue. If a game is reduced to two players, I will end it.
The reason for this is, I have grown tired of PBPs as a whole. Nothing against players in my games at all. Just structure and difficulty of running these is more than I thought it would be. The games don't go far, people quit too often and the pace is slow and often times, hard to keep up with. I will be moving my business to the website Roll20.net to run actual sessions with weekly or bi weekly structures where everyone plays together.
Again, I will continue to run the games I have as long as people want it. But I will not be replacing players who decide to leave. Thank you all and have a good day.
If you have interest in playing on the virtual table top provided by Roll20, send me a PM.
Thank you all

Jaira Kizur |

You know, if it actually works for you, I just might join in and see if I can't get some players to test my game. Might be easier that way since for some reason I can't explain things in writing as well as I can in speech. Mostly cause I'm autistic (they actually rolled aspberger's into an autism spectrum now. Easier to explain too)

Shanosuke |

I apologize to all for the weight. I am having trouble finding the time to transfer the slaves from paper to computer.
I am working on it but I have a good number of other projects I am trying to do right now.
Also, I am currently looking at changing the Star Wars system.
I have been studying the "Edge of the Empire" Mechanics heavily and I think it is better suited for PBP due to the abundance of narrative gameplay and lack of finite mechanic details.
I want to know how you all would feel about this transition. The system is simpler to understand and you would of course receive a rebuild.
I have done the mapping of your characters and I have found comparable classes and builds to the ones you have now.
This of course would be a slow transition that would be done over time and not right away.
If you do not desire to go over to the new system, then we will not. I still have the rules for the system we are currently using but I am focusing more on the new one in my spare time.
So, how do you feel about this.
BTW, I should have the slaves fully stated out and posted in spoilers on the Campaign info thread by Saturday. Then we can move on. This means Jaira's slave too.

Shanosuke |

It won't be instant. It will be a process and I will definitely go over it long before we even start using it. For now we will be using the D20 system.
To give you an idea, it uses d8s, d12s, and sometimes d6s. The rules are actually quite simple and it relies more on narrative and GM/player creativity over hard mechanics.

Jaira Kizur |

Omg, my life. Got sick for days. :(
Im back though.
I wont be getting EotE for quite a while, I do know the dice mechanic, which I find interesting, though I know nothing of the other rules except what was showcased in the videos. Some of them seem questionable to me but then again, without reading the book directly, I will be reserving judgement.

Shanosuke |

Okay at least three of the slaves characteristic are on the campaign info thread.
I most likely made more than a few or even several errors trying to put what I had on paper to online. If you would do me a favor and go over them and make sure I have everything you need to run them?
If you feel you have enough info to post your slaves actions please go ahead and take their turns.

Shanosuke |

Unfortunately because this game is Star Wars and owned by Disney, it is liable to be protected as such. I don't think there will be any online references. The system itself is also really new so again not likely to find any references.
I will do my best to help you along. It is a really easy game to get down. First think to note, there are no feats. I will be awarding you all XP to rebuild your characters to match what they are now. You increase skills and add talents by spending XP on such.
I will post details on skills and characteristics soon. Those are the core mechanic of the game. If you understand them, you know more than half the game already.
PLEASE NOTE: We are not doing an immediate conversion. We are easing into it. We will continue with the D20 until the current scenario is completed. Once this scenario is done, you all will hopefully be ready to adopt the new rules.
As we continue to play, we will be reconstructing the characters. If at any point you don't feel up to using the new system please PM me and let me know. We can pass on this if you really don't want to try it.
For now, continue with the battle. You have told me you wanted to use your slaves stats yourselves so I posted them in campaign info. So I am waiting on you to have them act. I will post the core mechanics for Eote soon.

Shanosuke |

Now lets go over Characteristics.
These are the six big circles on your characters sheet.
Brawn, Agility, Intellect, Cunning, Willpower, and Presence.
There isn't much to these accept that each skill you have is tagged with one of these. Brawn and Will are the only two with additional effects.
How these work is you match the corresponding characteristics to the ranks in the skill you are trying to use. The higher number of the two determines the number of dice you use and the lower determines how many are upgraded.
Dice start as D8s. When upgraded they become D12s.
Ex a character with intellect four wants to hack a computer. He has two Ranks in his computer skill.
Four Int is the higher number and sets the number of D8s. The two in computer upgrades two D8s to D12s. Then the player has his dice pool.
This also works in reverse. If a player has a three ranks in the computer skill but only a two in intellect, he uses the three has his number of D8 and the two is the number upgraded.
This is the core mechanic of the game. Everything you roll for will work like this.

Shanosuke |

Okay the first thing we will tackle is getting your characters assembled. Thankfully this will actually be the hardest part of the whole transition.
There are six careers and three specializations per career. You only get one career but you can take any specialization you want. XP is actually used to purchase new specializations, skills and talents rather than directly leveling up. The cost of these varies depending on ranks, starting career, and specialization.
Like I said, character building will be the hardest part of this. We'll take it one step at a time. We'll figure out starting careers and specializations first. I will show you the list. In each spoiler with your name tagged to it are my recommendations based on your characters current make up. First I will label the career and follow it up with it's three specializations.
The list:
Bounty Hunter:
(BH) Assassin (Stealth combatant)
(BH) Gadgeteer (A hunter who uses superior tech to get the job done)
(BH) Survivalist (More of a wilderness hunter)
Colonist: (This career focuses on more domestic skills)
(Col) Doctor (Kind of a Star Wars cleric)
(Col) Politico(This is the people person class)
(Col) Scholar (A knowledge based class. Never seen one of these before.)
Explorer: (This career is a lot like the galaxy's ranger classes)
(Ex) Fringer (A sort of ranger rogue concept)
(Ex) Scout (More stealthy stalky type. Pretty self explanatory)
(Ex) Trader (Focus on buying and selling. In the galaxy this comes up quite a bit.)
Hired Gun (The soldier of the galaxy)
(HG) Bodyguard (A protector and defender will skills emphasizing defense)
(HG) Marauder (The primary melee class. Nuff said)
(HG) Mercenary Soldier (The most blatant combat specialization)
Smuggler. (The primary rogues of the galaxy)
(SM) Pilot (One name: Wedge Antillies)
(SM) Scoundrel (Bout as rogue as you can get)
(SM) Thief (Exactly as it sounds)
Technician (Specialises is various forms of tech)
(TC) Mechanic (Focuses on vehicles mostly)
(TC) Outlaw Tech (Scavenger and focus on gear)
(TC) Slicer (Computer hacker)
Now I am having difficulty trying to figure out which career suits you guys best.
My best guess is Kloh as either a mechanic or an outlaw tech. One of the two.
Everyone else look over the choices and feel free to ask for more info on the ones that you are most interested in. I will help you narrow down the choices.

Kloh Ryn Pul |

Kloh Ryn Pul |

At first glance I'd see Kloh and his slaves taking these careers/specialist spots. Although with Kloh's vast skill set he could fit into several.
Kloh - Smuggler/Pilot
Nael - Colonist/Politico
Yayoi - Smuggler/Scoundrel or Thief
is there such a thing as cross-classing?
are there skills/abilities that only each career/specialist get? or is everything open to everyone?

Venkru Vong |

Good questions kloh!
Especially about multi-classing.
Venkru concept wise was first a soldier, but building his own armor kinda went tech, and was going towards bounty hunter soon.
So one possibility would be to strictly make him a
(BH) Gadgeteer (A hunter who uses superior tech to get the job done)
but with some levels of (HG) Mercenary Soldier (The most blatant combat specialization)
The planned build was soldier 4, then Scout 1, then bounty hunter...
It looks like this system is flexible enough to get the same character several ways.

Shanosuke |

In game it isn't in terms of class. There aren't levels and such, all your abilities are based how you spend XP. When I give XP you are permitted to spend it right away or save it.
In this game you pick a career. You are stuck with that career the rest of the game but you may pick up Specializations from any where. Your starting specialization has to be in your starting career but as you gain more XP you can branch out.
Example:
Starting career Smuggler with specialization pilot decides he want more skills in working on his ship. So he spends XP to purchase access to the Technicians specialization Mechanic. Once he does so he now has access to talents in the mechanics tree.
When buying additional specializations, the cost increases for every new specialization you add. Also, if the specialization you add is not apart of your starting career, it costs even more.
So if your career is smuggler, then all smuggler specializations will be base XP prices but if you wish to branch out, it will cost more.
For now we will simply worry about starting and work our way up from there.
For Kloh Smuggler/pilot has a high emphasis on fly space bound vehicles and focuses on tricks and manuvers. Smuggler theif may help a little with hijacking. Technicians are much better at hijacking and make decent pilots if built properly.
For Venkru BH gadgeteer has considerable combat skills and specialises in improving weapons and armorer to aid in that fact. It seems a pretty solid specialization on its own.
