Darne steps off the stage with cup in hand drinking it carefully slow. Internally he is practically livid but he continues to take deep slow breathes, the jokes and jibes being thrown at him and Ser Weyland making it difficult to shrug off but he does as he has practiced and keeps a smile on his face all the same.

He nods to Weyland and begins to walk about mingling some. His first stop is with House Keath. He politely addresses the Lord and Lady of the house first, wishing them the best of luck in the upcoming events and politely introducing himself. He turns to Lady Ranel.

"I do not believe I have had the pleasure of meeting you, though I have heard some from Matthias. He spoke highly of you and your sister. I must say the rumors are quiet true, you are like a rose among lilies. " he said smiling politely.

"You are quite the charming man Darne" she bows slightly "Roses do have their thorns" she winks "I can't say the same for your self, as it seems your shaft is "lacking", and all there is left is the charming view" her sister and her giggle amongst themselves, while some near enough to hear the jibe laugh a bit more loudly "My apologies my lord, a jest that was all, but it is quite fitting" looking for but a moment to Matthias jealousy crossing her eyes "Good thing your sister is the heir to your House"

Sighing as Marcus looks at Tylea "My Lady, I understand and do not wish to have a weak woman next to me. I am determined and strong and the person, who will be standing with me should also have same kind of nerves and determination." Marcus states with a firm voice as steel-like expression appears on his face when he looks at Tylea

"I did however ask you, if you would like to have something. You are same as in our House Cassondria. However, think about that it goes both ways... to receive the appreciation of your parnter. There is a saying in the north When winter comes, the weak will be culled and only strong will survive the freezing wind till next summer."

His facial expression though softened a bit as he continued "You asked that I should make you happy and comfortable. I do not know much about things expect sword and harsh training. Would you like to have a garden full of flowers prepared for you or you prefer to have something more? I... dont pretend to know everything and if I were to have problems, I will surely ask you. That is how I see something a marriage. Things are done together and not alone although there are cases where men are supposed to surprise their more beautiful partner" a small smile appearing on his face

Darne smiled at her, he knew that the jokes would all be at his and Ser Weyland's expense tonight and he knew those with a sharp tongue would hit him hardest. He took a small sip from his cup before continuing.

"Indeed, my champion did a poor showing. But I will not boast what I do not have, and currently I do not have personal strength. Too few let pride get in the way of themselves and end their lives early."" he said smiling.

"My sister grasps at things and boasts early. She is lacking in strategy as if she fails to hold that title she wants, she'll find herself marked in a way she wouldn't wish for the future. But, I am a kind brother and I wish her well in her attempts to secure the position but I won't sit back and let her win. I have my own way about things." he said calmly and cooly.

He rather liked Lady Ranel, she reminded him a fair bit of himself and his sister.

Matthias raises an eyebrow, berating himself internally, That was unfortunate for me. Idiot!

Majesty, apology plain in his voice, I beg your forgiveness. I had thought that you were helping to prepare the King's heir for the throne, should his guidance, wisdom, and leadership be taken from Westeros.

Garran's eyes widen at Mattias's comment. Though the politics of the nobility is typically far above him, even he understands the tension between the Princess as heir and the Prince as heir, and that Lord Domeric wanted House Naelareon to avoid expressing preference for either side. Matthias had all but pledged allegiance to the Greens, and hopefully the Prince and Princess would not take too much offense at this. Carefully, watching their reactions, Garran considered how to mitigate any damage to House Naelareon.

Tylea
The first real smile in her face "That is a good first step Ser Marcus and interesting view of marriage" placing a gentle hand over his "I hope you are not all words" looking at Sofia Blackwood "I will kill you in your sleep if you ever dare to raise a hand at me" an even bigger smile half playful and half serious.

Ranel
"I hope you do better Darne. It will be interesting to see you in the joust, but what can you tell me of Ser Matthias?" at this point she is more interested in Matthias that what ever else you may speak, after all, poor choice of champion and as a woman looking to inherit over her brother, you are just something she really can't stand or use to her advantage.

Queen
"I would burn the other half of Westeros should the time come if Aegon's claim be contested" loud enough to be heard by the Princess "After all he is the man of the family and tradition will dictate it, but my King still lives so I have no needs to worry of such trivial things.

Darne thought for a moment, the Joust started tomorrow and all and smiled. "I'm afraid if you wish to pick my brain on one of my knights, then it will have to be another night. It would be wise for me to make the rounds in my father's absence and visit with the families of the Riverlands. Perhaps you would like to have dinner tomorrow evening, it'll give an excuse for Matthias and Lady Sosan to have another meeting to get to know each other better unless less stressing circumstances and you can ask me all you want then? I doubt you could ask anything I would not answer truthfully in his presence." he offered.

"Then I will meet you tomorrow Darne, let us hope everything works well for you tomorrow in the joust" she smiles honestly "Let us enjoy dinner all four of us, and good luck besting Cassondria so far she is the heir in the eyes of many, specially after your shortcomings today, make her position even stronger"

Weyland will nurse his drink and lay low considering whether the mistakes he made will be a benefit or a burden moving forward, at least initially, my opponents will underestimate me. Luckily I am not here looking for a match for marriage else my stock would be well and truly worthless. Perhaps a fight with the Frey is just what I need. Death or Glory, what else is there in life?

Darne takes all the jabs and jokes that come throughout the rest of the night. He made his rounds, gladhanding and wishing good luck and prosperity to all the right houses as the evening goes by.

Once the feast starts to die down, he makes his way out and once out of earshot or sight of anyone begins to curse and vent his frustrations and anger at how this event went. He only hoped that tomorrow and the days to come went much better.

He found Ser Weyland after a while, motioned him to follow, and made his way towards the tavern.

"I only hope that tonight's little embarrassment gives us some edge for the days to come. We made out to be quiet the fools you and I but if we can take them by surprise it will look like a well played ruse by the celebration's end. How fairs your wounds?" he asked, his voice still with a bit of anger in it.

Not wishing to slip up further, Matthias does not engage the Queen further unless he is addressed.

Matthias enjoys the rest of the feast, talking with Sosan as well as help Garran feel at ease. When he notices that attendees are starting leave or that Lady Sosan is ready to leave, Matthias will depart, escorting Lady Sosan back to the Keath Pavillion.

Lady Sosan, it was truly a privilege to escort you to the feast tonight. One I pray I did justice. Matthias then kisses the back of her hand lightly.

Releasing her hand, Regrettably, I do not believe your Lord Father will approve of further encounters between you and I. My blatant slight to the Princess this day has no doubt earned me much anger from those who favor her. I also suspect that in the Joust, I am in for an especially trying time. I do hope despite my shabby politics, I will be able to emjoy your company in the future.

Matthias waits a moment for her response if any before returning to the Naelareon pavillion grounds and turning in for the night.

Garran enjoyed his conversation with Matthias, and spoke only to the Queen and Prince and Princess when spoken to. After the feast he gave Matthias a moment to say his goodbyes to Lady Sosan, but waited close by, to ensure Matthias did not walk back to the pavilion alone in the evening.

"We shall see about that!" says lady Sosan with a smile in her face, as she takes her handkerchief and gives it to you "Carry my favor then, at least something to keep our connection alive for now, but this is not where it will end I hope" a gentle caress in Matthias face "Good night Ser Matthias" blushing in a moment of bravery to say and do all that, but now she runs as fast as she can into her pavilion.

By the time you all make it back, you see several courtier coming and going from the pavilion, and lord Naelareon is resting while Lady Gwyneth receives the courtiers, and sees you all come in, but speaks to none or greets anyone, maybe she is to busy or she is displeased.

Day 4, Mid Morning

"Messenger from lord Lionel Darry"

Lord Domeric himself calls the messenger in, dressed in the in white colors with the Darry heraldry embroiled in his gambeson, looking more like a soldier than a messenger.

With a cocky attitude and showing a paper in his hand, sword sheathed "I have a message for..." lord Domeric kicks him in the gut with all his strength making the man bend in half

"Bring me the chopping block" he roared to a poor guardsman that stumbled upon himself as he brought it to his lord, the messenger is dumb struck on the floor gasping for air.

"I'm a messenger" demanding the protection and courtesy such man should be given.

"I don't give a f+&!" lord Domeric's smile widens as he makes the man bite the chopping block "Send my regards to Lionel Darry for me in hell" wielding his axe two handed while keeping his foot on the mans head and before the messenger can react a loud thump were the axe meets the chopping block. A clean cut separating the mans head, or most of it, as you can still see the lower part of his jaw and tongue, and his neck on the floor, while the rest of his head rest on top the axe, where lord Domeric rests his leg reading the message.

Garran stares at the sight of Lord Domeric executing the messenger, not because of the bloodshed, but because the lord looks to have more energy than he has had in a long time. Perhaps these events would grant him a vitality that to this point he had seemed to be lacking, giving Darne and Cassondria more time to grow into their own, and the Lord a new strength.

"Anything important in that message, my Lord?"

Marcus being early awake and in the companion of his Lord watches the messenger enter, his fall and execution. Moving a bit closer, while grapping a towel nearby to give it to his Lord. His stone like face not revealing anything and just watching the dead man body lying down there before turning his gaze towards his lord

"Guard, strip this man from his possession. Better to take it away and put on use instead of wasting them" Marcus states to nearby guards as his gaze is still locked on the expression of his lord, in search for any kind of hint, what could the message say

"Well Marcus, you have a date, on the Seventh day bring seven knights for a duel of honor before the seven, of course at day break in the morning" he started laughing hard for a while "This morons never seize to amaze me, pick your 5 knights, one of them is Ser Darry already and future husband of Ophelia, so you have the Liberty to choose 5 more before the seventh day Marcus, take your time and think it well."

Hmm, I am glad to hear that the matter has been at least set up in an honorable manner. Do you plan to have the rest hiding in case the enemy shows themselves to not follow the rules?" he asked curious about what his father had planned out fully.

Darne waited for the answer before going on to his own business. "I took Ser Weyland with me last night to see to it that the Serving Girl made it safely to our camp so that we can keep her under our protection till the situation is resolved. Did you send the missives to Lord Blackwood and Lord Tully that we are planning to Champion her cause?"

Matthias had been spending the morning preparing for the joust, when Lord Domeric's voice roared for a chopping block. Unsure of why such a request was made, he makes his way to his Uncle's pavillion just as Darne walks in.

Seeing the beheaded messenger on the ground as he walks in, only to frown a moment later at Darne's suggestion.

Trouble, My Lord? Matthias asks, voice edged with anticipation.

Of course, we are taking every man we have, their twisted sense of thing, will make them bring any number of troops plus seven knights to lead them for all I know, so we take no risks" kicking the head of his axe and sitting in the chopping block staring at Darne

"Blackwoods are aware, but poor showmanship last night must be making him think to trust you two. I don't blame him for it, you do not want a weakling to be your daughter's suitor, but he must make a decision before time runs up also, we shall see how they react"

None that you aren't already aware of after your performance yesterday and the rest of this House, bar Cassondria and Garran. I'm off to see the Prince with whom I served in battle that demands my presence"infuriating look to Matthias "Perhaps you heard also of the Tullison man that carried his banner in the Stepping Stones, and also my title that I earned for participating in that war?"

Darne rubbed his temples a bit "Yes, I best make a least a good showing in the joust if I am to get them to see my worth. I don't know if I would wait till the Grand Melee if I were them as this is really the only way they can save face without having some severe repercussions against them.

Matthias, surprisingly angered at his Uncle's wrath, barely keeps his own anger out of his voice, My performance? My performance? Respectfully, My Lord, I made a conscious choice with my words. That I do support the Queen in succession is a respect for the traditions of Westeros, in which rule is passed from father to son unless their is no male heir.

Matthias takes a breath, before continuing, keeping his voice level, My Lord, Darne is your only male heir. I support him for heir, as Westeros tradition mandates. I will no longer participate in a pointless squabble for it.

Unable to keep the anger out of voice any longer, Respectfully, since Marcus formally took your name last night when he won command for a melee team, and by your own words, he is the true Champion of your House, I hereby relinquish that role to him. With that Matthias abruptly turns and walks out of the pavilion to continue to get ready for the joust as just a Knight.

"Ah, Weyland , I was thinking about you. I do agree, your help and swordsmanship would be appreciated. You are better in swords than most people I know, so to answer your question is definetely yes. That is now 3 people and 4 more needed" Marcus agrees and is visible happy that him gaining Ser Weyland as one of the knights for the event was successful.

Seeing as how Lord Naelareon commented about their performance and how Matthias seething with anger released it all on his uncle and then moving out, was silent for a moment before speaking again "My Lord, I would like to ask if I did do something wrong yesterday? I apologize and will repent for it, if yes. I thought it for a long time and decided to accept your name, but maybe it was wrong decision to announce it yesterday in front of other Nobles. Also as we already discussed I know full well the meaning and conditions behind it" Marcus assume his stance and bows to Lord Naelareon as he keeps his face faced downwards.

"Also, I had an insight to one possible candidate for the position of seven. What do you think about Lord Jon Roxton, my Lord? He is almost Kingsguard level in his Swordmanship plus having someone like him in our side would boost not only morale of our troops, but also cause our enemies think twice about attacking us. I have a good relationship with him and it should not be hard to have him side with us. "

Weyland turns in surprise at Matthias' outburst, a rash action to be sure. The vigor of youth I suppose.

Then so be it then, i will inform all of your choice Matthias" he finally stands and gives thunderous slap to Matthias "First you speak to your liege lord, second I am your uncle and love you as one of my own, third your performance at the feast was a problem for our House not just you, in the way you disrespected the princess is what is the problem, you are a member of my House and family, and what you did will cost us more than you realize because of your 'choices' he walks back still holding his axe in hand furious.

"Now I have to fix your mess with the Prince that has issued me a summons" a accusatory finger pointed at Matthias {b]The next time you 'think' please spare me the misery of fixing your problems and don't drag this House with you while you are at it

With an Awareness of 3, I think I am SOL. No I don't have a DP, at least not until the end of the day, so he not only rang my bell, I may have to change my shorts.

Matthias accepts the blow, doing his best to not show how hard he was struck. If not for his own anger, the shear level of rage from his Uncle would be enough to make him cower.

Lord Naelareon, I apologize to you for what my choices have wrought.

He kneels at the chopping block, placing his head so that his neck is exposed. Take my head to the Prince to mollify him. It is all I have left to offer.

No, I am not looking to have Matthias ended, Lord Domeric's rage is showing just how much he disgraced his Uncle. So Matthias is doing the only thing he can think of to save face.

Your choices to go green were not wrong, is the disrespect you showed to the princess what was wrong, everything else you were splendid"

Lord Domeric takes makes a downward swing with his axe, and leaves it in the chopping block, missing Matthias head "I respect the balls you have to do what you did, you just chose the wrong place to do it Matthias, now I must pacify the Prince and Princess" a transformation to a fatherly voice "You are one of my own, and that gives you value above anyone else not of my name, you are like my son, keep growing strong and learn from your mistakes while I have breath to draw upon to fix the messes you and Darne will plunge this House into, like I did once"

Darne couldn't help but notice the tone of the man's voice. He was taking what his father said perhaps a bit too fully. He took a seat and poured them both a cup of water. Darne did not feel there was any need for ale or wine so early in the morning and with competition to come shortly.

He motioned for Matthias to sit and slid the cup to him when he did. He looked at him as if he was trying to understand him better.

"I feel, I may have been rude towards you due to the stress that Lord Naelareon has put on us all with his celebration. It was not my intent to insult you or demean you with my attitude towards you possibly being an heir." he started

He leaned forwards at this point putting his head in his hands in a manner of deep contemplation. "To be honest, the reason I did not see you as a competitor was not because of any faults of yours but because I have always viewed you to be too honorable of a man. I wish that everyone could be held to the standards that you hold yourself, rushing to the aid of another without worry of station or title." he said before grabbing his cup and leaning back in the chair.

"I wish that my intentions for championing the poor serving girl's cause was as noble as yours would have been but it is all a scheme to twist the favor of another house towards our own and myself. This kind of thing I would not honestly see you doing and that is why I did not view you as an heir. The position of Lord is a corrupt one in a sense, never doing something without expecting something in return, constantly being honorable at the face of it but a snake in the background. Could you have been so cold hearted?" Darne asked in the end.

As Matthias listens, truly listens to what Darne has to say, he takes the time to let his anger go.

Darne, I am not as noble as you make me sound, but thank you for saying so. Matthias' tone is even, as though he has considered each word before speaking it. Too many Knights see only their status and the privileges that comes with it. They forget their larger responsibility of what it means to be a Knight, and I do not mean the service to house and lord. To be a Knight is to serve the people, all people whether it is a farmer or an individual of station.

Matthias drains his cup of water before continuing, As for the events here, I swear to you on my father's name, I never wanted to be heir. That responsibility is your by right of birth. The only purpose behind the choices I made were to drive you to become what you were always meant to be. However, I was not going to just support you out of hand, the Knight I am striving to be demanded that I test you to the best of my ability, for you to show me you had it in you to navigate the deadliest game in the realm. That you would champion a serving girl for gain, demonstrated that. Is the primary reason her wrong, no. Better you discovered it, I would have attacked Frey consequences be damned.

My only error was pushing Lord Domeric too hard. But I was outraged that he would make such a game out of it. When all is said and done, the way I see it, I have served House Naelareon with distinction. I played a part in you becoming heir and helped to place the proper warrior in the role of House Champion. I have only ever sought to be a Knight. But such a Knight that will be remembered in Legend long after death.

Shadow's Status

Good evening folks. As I said, I am late to the party but I discussed my character with the DM and he has approved.

On wrinkle he asked me to discuss with the Players before I begin posting. My character is a cross between Robert Baratheon and Jamie Lannister.

I am an excellent Fighter but I can't keep either of my swords sheathed...

My backstory has me as a Household Knight for your family. In exchange for my services you would house and food myself and my unorthodox family.

My father sits on the small council but I am his third son so there was little upward mobility for me. He also disapproved of my two paramours (and counting) and my two bastards (and counting).

At this point I have been with the House for years so my libido would be pretty apparent for all to see. How would you all like to handle that particular flaw of mine?

Appearance & Personality Weyland is tall dark and handsome. His hair and eyes are dark. He has a strong muscular build and a penetrating gaze. He dresses in fine but not extravagant clothing.

Weyland is courteous to smallfolk though he will not respect them if they appear to be disrespectful to him. He drinks and eats heartily but his true weakness is the opposite sex.

History Born in 97 Weyland was the third son of Lord Jasper Weyland destined to be a knight but never Lord of the House. As a young boy Weyland learned the fighting styles the traditional combat of Westeros and excelled at it, besting the House Weapons Master as a young teen. In fact, he won a few combat rounds against greater opponents as a squire in 111 AL’s gaining notice as a swordsman.

When his father Lord Jasper was selected as Master of Laws on the Small Council in 113 Weyland was left behind at Rain House. Weyland was frustrated with being left behind, he thought he should have come with his father to King’s Landing to make a name for himself, instead he was left to rot in the Stormlands.

Accolades went to young men his age and only slightly older. Bored at home with peace in the land, Weyland became involved with a common girl, Heidi, as his paramour. Their shared passions resulted in the birth of Weyland's bastard son Chris Storm. While his father refused to recognize the bastard Weyland put a great deal of energy into the child's well-being.

By 117, Weyland’s life of tranquility was energized by pirate raids in the Stormlands. Standing tall in the thickest of the fighting when the pirates were finally put to the sword, Weyland was inducted into the Knighthood for his bravery.

Despite his love for his paramour his father arranged for him to be wed to Ilya of House Estren, a comely young girl from a house aligned with the Lannisters. Weyland soon learned to love Ilya and she accepted Weylan's son though she did not adopt him. After two years of trying Ilya was finally ready to give Weyland the legitimate son who would push Chris out as the object of Weyland's affection. Unfortunately Ilya died during delivery and so did his newest son. Weyland was grief stricken and found comfort in the arms of Ilya's chambermaid, Gretchen. This union created yet another bastard for Weyland, Kritus Storm, another son.

House Estern was furious at Weyland's involvement with the chambermaiden but Weyland shrugged off their protests and decided to raise Kritus the same way he raised Chris, as if the child was legitimate. Lord Jasper was exasperated with Weyland's inability to control his libido and tried to convince Weyland to settle down again.
Weyland refused and in 119 petitioned House Naelaron to accept him as a swron sword of the House so that he could be out from under his father’s thumb. Weyland required the House to provide for both of his paramours and both of his bastards but with his fighting prowess to add to the House it was a worthwhile investment.

Though Heidi and Gretchen bear ill will towards each other Weyland refuses to see it and puts his love for his sons first allowing them to bicker as they will. Between the dullness of his duties and the bickering of his paramours, Weyland has sought out new conquests though they never seem to go much farther than a few weeks until he is on to the next one.

With the grief he receives from his father via ravens Weyland was surprised to see a raven with actual pertinent information, it seems a succession war is brewing in King’s Landing. Perhaps there is opportunity in this…

Background Event Noble son of House Wyland from whom he parted ways.

Seat Rain House (located along the southeastern shore of Shipbreaker Bay on Cape Wrath).

House Motto - Strategy in Arms

The lineage of House Weyland is long and storied in its production of excellent warriors. Any man with arms can swing a sword but knowing when to swing the sword is more important than how hard you can swing it. Fights are won with strength of mind not strength of muscle.

Coat of Arms - A blue green maelstrom on gold.

You need to buy Status 3 to be a Household Knight or you are just a sworn sword and treated as such, regardless of were you come from.

While Fighting 6 is technically allowed, but that type of skill puts you on par with most famous people in Westeros for their skill with a sword.

I'm sorry I don't allow more than 1 ability dropped to 1, to avoid power creep on character builds.

You must pick a Flaw to any of your abilities and it cannot be the ability you already reduced to 1.

This flaw is for your Age so you get no Destiny Point from it.

I'm sorry your father is i the Small Council, that is for your House...

Well, honestly I dont know. It is fine for me although I am having a bit shock when I saw the stats.

Otherwise I am happy that we get more players. As in IC Wylde will really spice things up. As I see the background and his characteristic-> there is bound to be a lot of clashing and pickery between Marcus and Weyand.

Just that extra 150 EXP is a lot and really over boosting your character over others. I see Warlord already picked up on the topic of stats wise. Otherwise Weyand Wayle seems interesting character.

Not sure how then it will be also realmwise. There could also be some history since Marcus also hails from Stormlands

Will adjust my stats per DM comments leave one zero Stat though I will keep the 6 Fighting as I think it defines the character.

Edit: Will drop my Deception to 2 (less 70), Warfare to 2 (less 10), Persuasion to 2 (less 10), Knowledge to 2 (less 10), Cunning to 2 (less 10), and Status to 3 (costs 10). That gets me 3 status and removes my 100 bonus points. Will keep Thievery at 1 and get 2 in both Stealth and Healing. One more status 1d6 more gold, 1d6 ⇒ 6

My Flaw was tied to Persuasion in which I have a 3 (well 2 now post edits) so not sure I follow that comment please elaborate as this is my first character from this system.
Edit- I re read Destiny section, I see I can gain extra Destiny Point from another Flaw, will look into that next.

The 2nd Destiny point was a hold over from my 4 initial points, should I just buy a 3rd quality.
Edit - I am between Danger Sense and Long Blade Fighter I any thoughts on the choices DM?
Edit - Ok have one Flaw and one Drawback now so I get the extra Destiny point, with it I take Toughness and I switch my Endurance Bonus die to Resilience (will remove the Benefits in Seduction so it seems like a greater drawback...)instead of Stamina for 2 more Health Levels.

My father being on the Small Council was a little added spice I found out when Googling the House. He was initially built for "modern" SoIaF where the House has lost much cache. I thought it would be an interesting thing to note but I do not see it really as a benefit asas I left the House because of our bickering, should I make him a nemesis? Would that extra flaw give an extra Destiny Point and add some more flavor? Thanks for the assistance.

Marcus, good idea we should know each other as I am only a year older than you. As I have my own bastards I would not have an issue with you currently but perhaps in my youth we clashed and you see me as a hypocrite now because of my own children and how I treat them?

It's fine that he is in the small council, which is currently favoring one faction, unknown to you lol since you never cared.

A lot of things from some people backgrounds do matter in the long run, we WILL go through the Dance of Dragons events, so be ready to command units, defend your Hall and choose your House path wisely Green or Black.

I'm all for alternate history, so if a canon NPC dies because of PC involvement or other circumstances it changes history, so we might end up in a different ending to the civil war.

How far are you interested to bring this game? Some definitive point or if it proves interesting and all have fun, do you consider taking it as long as everyone has interested and you yourself are enjoying the game?

PS: I do hope my Nemesis will not be sooooo bad... no nasty surprises there (fingers crossed)

Until the House dies or PC are to old and about to kick the bucket.

So it will last as long as players are having fun and interest as always, this is a heavy player driving campaign, so if you wait for events to unfold that is fine, but it will make for a rather lame thing, instead of player driven plots that can develop into great things or even wars.

father is pressing him to earn honor, this might indeed make him a bit....haughty. Given that tourney lances aren't tipped...how dangerous would it be to wear leather instead of proper armor?

You will most likely die, if you do not wear better armor, minimum something AR 7

A common knight will do 7 dmg per DoS.

Jousting defense is calculated differently than normal combat defense, it's based on your handle animal and ride bonus dice

SO yes you need something higher than leather or you are going to die in the joust

Combat Initiative 3d6 Defense 13 Health 9 Intrigue Initiative 3d6 Defense 9 Composure 9

Yea...I figured as much so I am looking at trying to borrow from the others. Breastplate is easier to adjust for others given the straps and such involved so I am gonna try to do so...and borrow a shield from one of the others. Given there isn't anyone else that could probably join in in the Joust...then we could at least try to get distinguish the family in all ways that way.

The NPC knights are good in Melee and Joust, one of them is just better at the other.

While you could get a decent armor and shield for the joust, it would be your father that pays for it, just so you don't die, basically sponsoring your entrance, hence his you better do well.

Meaning making it to Round 3.

Combat Initiative 3d6 Defense 13 Health 9 Intrigue Initiative 3d6 Defense 9 Composure 9

I see, I am gonna try and be resourceful as a good heir should and provide for myself in a manner. I assume that the Grand Melee would go on before the Joust as that is generally the grand finale of most celebrations.

Well, character at last finalized with the stats after a lot of mind changing how I should go with him.

Your typical general: warfare/cavalry: jouster with a touch of melee fighter

Regarding armor is Scail enough or should I get something better? Might sell 1 or 2 items from my inventory to be able to afford a bit more expensive one

If you are cavalry/jouster armor penalty is not a big deal to you, since most damage will be mitigated it's like having Ser Weyland getting 2 DoS against a knight in full armor, all you will hear is chink chink, as the sword bounces of the armor and does no damage.

Hm, so considering if I should change my Scail + sell 1 or 2 items for

Brigandine / Half-Plate / Full-Plate. Not really sure which one

Combat Initiative 3d6 Defense 13 Health 9 Intrigue Initiative 3d6 Defense 9 Composure 9

I believe if you plan on doing any on foot fighting, half plate is so not the way to go.

Destiny-P: 0 | Intrique: 9 Composure: 9 / Combat-Defense: 7 Health: 11/11 Armor: 9 information: House Naelareon

Yes, its being a bit risky so if I do well in Joust-> I might be able to afford new equipment.

So far with Scail it is only 6 Armor and -3 Armor Penalty

Brigandine is then 8 Armor and -4 Armor penalty although bulk is 3 (limiting my movement to 2). Character wise Marcus is not so bad even with 4 Fighting and his Handle Animal 4 +1B ride (massive 17 passive) is quite huge for Jousting

All heavy armors have high penalties, to combat defense, but heavy armor user buy the big +4 shield for a reason.

Which you need +1b Shields to use

Otherwise Splint is a good balance for riding and on foot

I am reworking the background to make sense with the history. Oddly, I think this helps. I will get something appropriate for the timeline up tonight.

I also answered to you in the recruitment thread about timeline issue, that you got wrong for a bit over 100 years.

New Background:

The lands of the Nymeros family had suffered endless hardship. No sooner were the new ditches and roads built that a second doom befell the family and their small community in the far south of Dorne. Fearing the worst, that another doom would settle, Ophelia's parents sent her away to the Isle of Braavos in the hopes she would remain safe there until the wars had settled and the House had recovered. Although a bastard, she was none-the-less the only living child of her noble mother and her warrior father.

Such a simple solution, and like so much of house Nymeros, it was bound to fail. Soon after she reached her first blood, her parents had managed to find her a position in a northern noble house with hopes and promises of marriage. Although Dorne was not a part of Westeros, far too many of the Dornish Princes were concerned about the fate and ill luck of Nymeros, regarding them as cursed. If the family was to succeed, they needed new blood, new money, and hopefully new lands.

All was well for a short while, until her Westerosi family found out the truth of her family. Incredibly wronged by this betrayal, yet still loving the girl, House Dedding seized the Dornish princess to be. If her parents wanted her, they would have to come north and answer for their wrongs. Afraid that such a journey might be construed as lending aid to either the Greens or Blacks, the Nymerosi family simply abandoned their daughter, hoping she would fare far better in the north than the family had in the Dornish deserts.

I have redrafted the background above in the hopes that it makes more sense with the house background generated, and a reason for a Dorne to be in the north.

Eep that puts her as having been if I am not mistaken to be coupled with Darne at the time yes? When was the arrangement nullified or is it still nullified? (Just turned 16 not but a summer ago so he just became of age to marry recently)

Edit: You're lack of persuasion puts you at a heavy disadvantage if someone were to try and take you as a consort or anything of the like.

In Westeros the age to marry is when they become women (first period), so it can a bit earlier than 16, around 13-14.

Regarding background when you speak of northern, do you mean the North as in Starks?

IN this setting saying northern House, it really does mean the North, not just anything north of Dorne.

Deddings - The 's' at the end is part of the House name, I know GRRM has a weird way of naming things.

So basically your background says the Deddings captured you coming from the North back to Dorne and hold for ransom to pay money it's not owed to them, by broken minor house and to top it off a bastard.

While in Dorne you are treated with a lot more respect, just like the Iron Islands for being a bastard, in Westeros you are rally not worth as a Ward since you are not really as important as true son/daughter to your House, so you are worth 0 in Westerosi politics as Ward.

Marriage the way you propose works fine, as a trick to get a big House, and they probably tried to marry you, to a second son or something like that, which I have a least of all the Deddings in the current timeline in this thread I think in the first page or second, so you can pick a name.

So change nortthern House for Riverlands House, otherwise, you are in the North and away from everything.

Marcus just wants to see how Darne is performing and will then offer couple tips to help with performance and maybe even show himself how to do it -> so at least 1 or 2 post more from Marcus. Otherwise there is not much for Marcus to say or speak so will wait for others

I am waiting for the First Lady to have her say before I head off and play with her cousin :-)

Also, what would be the procedure Weyland would use to speak with Lord Naelaron, to say the least he is disturbed by his dress down at lunch. In addition, I was successful at determining that here was something bothering him some worry (the Empathy check).

My lord, is the most common way.

In Westeros the age to marry is when they become women (first period), so it can a bit earlier than 16, around 13-14.

Regarding background when you speak of northern, do you mean the North as in Starks?

By North, I just meant North of Dorne, the Riverlands.

The Warlord wrote:
IN this setting saying northern House, it really does mean the North, not just anything north of Dorne.

Well taken, I will be more careful of the direction of north v. the North.

The Warlord wrote:

Deddings - The 's' at the end is part of the House name, I know GRRM has a weird way of naming things.

So basically your background says the Deddings captured you coming from the North back to Dorne and hold for ransom to pay money it's not owed to them, by broken minor house and to top it off a bastard.

While in Dorne you are treated with a lot more respect, just like the Iron Islands for being a bastard, in Westeros you are rally not worth as a Ward since you are not really as important as true son/daughter to your House, so you are worth 0 in Westerosi politics as Ward.

I was basing value on the Heir element coupled with the possible value (non-existent) of a Dornish heir in trying to recruit at least one Dornish House into involvement in the war over the Bastard element. I will look at other flaws, or just eliminate Ward altogether.

The Warlord wrote:

Marriage the way you propose works fine, as a trick to get a big House, and they probably tried to marry you, to a second son or something like that, which I have a least of all the Deddings in the current timeline in this thread I think in the first page or second, so you can pick a name.

So change northern House for Riverlands House, otherwise, you are in the North and away from everything.

I think a most appropriate marriage would have been to one of the Landed Knight's second or third sons. The family I rolled up is abysmally unlucky, broke, and completely unpopulated. Aiming for higher would not be likely to meet with success. I figure the family that got me, believing a Dornish Princess was their prize, are more than a little peeved to learn that my family holds next to nothing, their heir is a bastard, and the family is broke. The new family rejected the marriage upon learning the truth. The Deddings took pity, or possibly believed it was just better to hold on and hope I remain an Heir, and kept me after their knight kicked me to the curb.

If anyone has a thought on a good flaw to replace Ward, please let me know!

On Nemesis: I think that there are quite a few options here, since both factions are actively courting Dorne to intervene, and it is unlikely that either side will simply accept a Dornish presence without feeling some anger about my homeland's lack of support for their cause. Coupled with my parents' lies to try to get me into a position of power through lies and misleading statements, I could have pissed off any number of individuals.

Would you like me to pick a Nemesis, let it develop in story, or assign one?

As soon as I get these last two details confirmed; I will be set.

Can I just say that I keep thinking Darne is called Dame, as the rn looks much like an m on my screen.

It is most distracting. ;-)

Just a note to the character in statwise:

You have spent 310 EXP on Ranking abilities. I do see that you have Marksmanship & Thievery at 1 (granting that 100exp) which is nice

But gamewise & as The Warlord already said earlier regarding Weyland character: you are supposed to have only one skill at 1 due to not having a power character. Also her being quite powerful compared to all others seems a bit ridiculous, if I am a bit direct.

I know that in Dorne women are also fighters and some are even better than men but with those inflated stats its a bit ridiculous for any Household Knights or Knights at all to challenge you.

Just hoping to help out here and not pickering on some stuff. Otherwise I do love your character & her lore. I forgot, but what were your motivations/vices etc with Ophelia? It might interesting to twine her together with some of the characters in the house -> bring that extra spiciness from hot lands :)

As far as RP with the rest of the group, Garran typically doesn't approach the house Knights or family of the Lord without invitation. He is very much a member of the smallfolk who has somehow managed to climb to a semi-important position within the household. He likes the others well enough from his interactions with them, but he typically waits for them to initiate it.

Since I don't know if I specified them, his goal is to become a famous hunter and marksman, such that stories and legends will be told of him. He's motivated by the thought of being immortalized in story for all time. His Virtue is his loyalty to House Naelareon, for all they have given him and the kindness they have shown him. His Vice is that he's overly rigid, believing there is a way to do things and that is how they should be done.

Noted. I will adjust Marksmanship to 2, drop Animal Handling to 2, and amend Warfare to 2 as well. I think (no book at work) that should fix the issue.

Background details I rolled a couple pages back:

1) I achieved a significant deed. Perhaps that is why I am still in the Riverlands and not sent packing back to Dorne. I like the idea of saving my lord, or perhaps even the Landed Knight father of my once bethrothed while on a boar hunt.

2)My goal is Love, I will ascribe that to family and the hope I can restore my parents to a position of something vaguely resembling comfort. In doing so, I hope they will come to love me and accept me back. I am not happy I was abandoned in the Riverlands. I am not happy I was traded for a long shot hope at some increase in familial holdings.

3) My motivation is Greed. I want to have a real position in my family. I want to get home eventually. I want a House that is more than a rubble heap.

4) My Virtue is Honesty. I will not break my freely given word, but I am not 'Ned Stark' open, honest, and duty bound to reveal every detail and get myself killed.

5) My Vice is Avaricious. Fancy word for Greed. I collect what I think may be of value to achieve my Goal and Motivation.
