male half living/half dead feline Quantum Sorcerer/12

noted, thanks for the heads up.

Also, Elarya, in case you missed it, there's a post for you.

I'm back! My posting hours will be opening up a bit now that I'm not just doing it while slacking at work.

male half living/half dead feline Quantum Sorcerer/12

dang. somehow my post got erased...

Anyway, welcome back Garrett, nice to have you back.

Also, I have good news, we'll be adding another player, to replace our lost Dante, playing none other than Celeste the elf's other adopted child!

HP: 20/23 AC 14/12/12: F +5, R +2, W -1, Per:+4, Init: +2, Rage: 8/8

Wheeeeee!

This should be fun. An emo barbarian and a, a... What is Celeste?

male half living/half dead feline Quantum Sorcerer/12

Celeste is just an expert/commoner (I just recently added her to the important NPCs entry), the new player is an Oracle

M Humanborn

yeah i was wondering what was up with Dante. so Dante is officially gone?

male half living/half dead feline Quantum Sorcerer/12

almost 2 weeks with no word whatsoever is pretty official in my book.

yeah, that's unfortunate, cuz I had some interesting ideas for his character in the future. Dante will still be around, just more in the background now.

Hmm. It seems my introductory 'hello' posting has vanished. Must be a bug in the system. ;)

Hello. I'm the new player shrodingerscat mentioned, and I look forward to joining the game and interacting with you all.

Hi

HP: 20/23 AC 14/12/12: F +5, R +2, W -1, Per:+4, Init: +2, Rage: 8/8

Heyo. I'm the person who saw your race and immediately thought we were going to have to fight a Hag at some point.

Welcome to the party, your house is cleaned out now. :D

F Changeling Oracle 1, Witch 1/AC 12/HP 13/F +3 R +3 W +8/Init +1/Perc +7/+9

@Tenro: Hi :)

@Elarya: LOL. Hi and thanks re the housecleaning. I have been following the game from the start and I can't wait for Sansa and Elarya to meet. ;D

Male Awakened crow (magical beast) Bard 1

Hey all. Sorry I was out of town for a few days. Wasn't sure if I would have time to post. I'm working through a head cold right now, but I'll try to catch up and get back into the game. Welcome Sansa!

F Changeling Oracle 1, Witch 1/AC 12/HP 13/F +3 R +3 W +8/Init +1/Perc +7/+9

@Rook: Feel better soon and thanks for the welcome!

HP: 20/23 AC 14/12/12: F +5, R +2, W -1, Per:+4, Init: +2, Rage: 8/8

Oops, I got the name wrong in an ooc comment. I look forward to their meeting too. Should be fun.

Hello Sansa, welcome to the game!

Looks like our characters have a bit in common (divine casters/unaware of racial heritage) so I look forward to meeting yours in game. :)

Female Human Ranger Level 2

Welcome Sansa. I look forward to playing with you.

F Changeling Oracle 1, Witch 1/AC 12/HP 13/F +3 R +3 W +8/Init +1/Perc +7/+9

Thanks, Garrett and Amara. Here's to meeting in game. :)

HP: 20/23 AC 14/12/12: F +5, R +2, W -1, Per:+4, Init: +2, Rage: 8/8

Just a heads up, I'm going to be out of town for a wedding this weekend. I should be back Monday.

male half living/half dead feline Quantum Sorcerer/12

I also have a wedding this weekend (my sister's), so my postings will be limited then.

F Changeling Oracle 1, Witch 1/AC 12/HP 13/F +3 R +3 W +8/Init +1/Perc +7/+9

@Shrodingerscat & Elarya: Enjoy your respective celebrations -- may the couples in question have a happy and beautiful wedding day.

HP: 20/23 AC 14/12/12: F +5, R +2, W -1, Per:+4, Init: +2, Rage: 8/8

Thanks. Anyway, Elarya should be getting to the Tower soon, but that's up to the GM.

I was able to get most of my weddings out of the way in June but there's just one more next month before I'm in the clear. Go love in 2012!

I hope you kids have fun this weekend :)

F Changeling Oracle 1, Witch 1/AC 12/HP 13/F +3 R +3 W +8/Init +1/Perc +7/+9

I have one wedding to attend in early November and then they are done for 2012. :)

Sansa - I was wondering, how have your interactions been with the other player characters in town for the past few years? I understand from your background that you're a bit of a loner but how do you think your character would have gotten along with the rest of our PC's? Are there any stories/experiences you would like to make between characters?

F Changeling Oracle 1, Witch 1/AC 12/HP 13/F +3 R +3 W +8/Init +1/Perc +7/+9

Garrett, Sansa is most assuredly a loner, however she is drawn to certain things at certain times and there would have been moments when she would have formed some relationships in town. She's someone that moves and marches to her own beat, so that may put some noses out of joint but she is not malicious or dangerous per se. She just doesn't care to follow others around and be told how to act or feel.

Her adopted brother Dante she treats with a modicum of civility for the sake of their foster mother, Celeste. They certainly do not have a close bond.

Sansa would have certainly been interested in Garrett from the perspective that foreign is drawn to foreign and she would be curious about him. She is certainly the youngest of the group at 14 but she is wiser than her physical years. Erec would be someone she feels attuned to and he would have nothing to fear from Sansa. Perhaps Erec would be the person Sansa is closest to in town.

Sansa does not see things in b&w. She hovers mostly in the shades of grey. She may tolerate and/or accept Elarya. Amara's personality would be opposite to Sansa's, so that dynamic would be interesting to play up.

She would study Rook and Havak she may simply overlook or be indifferent about.

Does this help? I haven't really nutted out her relationships and was going to play it by ear at first.

F Changeling Oracle 1, Witch 1/AC 12/HP 13/F +3 R +3 W +8/Init +1/Perc +7/+9

btw, the time zone here is GMT+10 as I'm in the southern hemisphere. So, if it looks like I'm not replying, it's probably because of the time difference. I'll try to reply to any posts as soon as I am able.

I like to think it helps. Our characters are all in the same age bracket and have, for the most part, grown up in the same place so I think that we'd all know each other to a degree. Any shared memories or inside jokes between characters would just cement those things in my mind.

Also, don't worry about the time zone differences. We've got a good mix of players here so there's always someone nearby.

The more I think about my character, the more he seems like he would be (unknowingly) sexist through chivalry. He would be the buffer between any childish bullying of the npc's and any of our characters whether or not they want him to be or even acknowledge him. It's mostly an ego complex mixed with being a paladin (that sounds a little redundant now that I think about it).

At the moment my interpersonal standings are:

Amara We have history of playful flirting at the displeasure of your brothers and my family's business competition

Elarya Garrett understands that you've gone through some sort of trauma but can never quite catch a break when speaking to you. Whether it's your emotional unavailability or you don't find his insistence charming is entirely up to you.

Havak We haven't really figured this one out, have we? You're closer to Erec and if/when we've talked, it was probably way over my head, haha.

Rook Garrett thinks you're an ordinary bird and everyone else is just insane, haha.

Sansa Ball is in your court on how deeply the two know each other. We would probably see each other when Garrett's out fishing and you're at the tower.

F Changeling Oracle 1, Witch 1/AC 12/HP 13/F +3 R +3 W +8/Init +1/Perc +7/+9

I think there would be a sort of tentative cordiality between Sansa and Garrett (the Aasimar being familiar with his younger brother's frailties and difference...and so be open to the young girl who is his friend).

Sansa would have seen the regular flirtation between Amara and Garrett but would think nothing more of it. But as any typical 14 year old, she would want to discover more about Garrett and she isn't good with understanding nor respecting personal space. So Amara may not like how close Sansa stands to Garrett or how her mismatched eyes linger a second longer on him whenever she is near him. A little crush or something greater -- like figuring out what makes him different and in turn what makes her different to the other humans in Solace.

Sansa's eyes would have only just recently changed -- say in the last two weeks. She had two "normal" amber eyes before then. Now her left eye is silver, the right remains amber.

Male RETIRED Blue Goblin Chirurgeon 2

what time is it in game?

im trying to decide if Havak would try to swing by the graveyard or not. he isnt the sort to go around warning villagers to stay inside, and he isnt the type to go hunting the little buggers on his own, so he would probably continue his course towards the graveyard to get the stones.

however, he has been poisoned and he was already thinking of waiting until tomorrow morning to go, so im not sure what he will do at the moment.

male half living/half dead feline Quantum Sorcerer/12

figuring mid afternoon now

M Humanborn

does he have time to get to the graveyard and search before dusk?

male half living/half dead feline Quantum Sorcerer/12

yes he would have a couple hours...perhaps 3, to search

HP: 20/23 AC 14/12/12: F +5, R +2, W -1, Per:+4, Init: +2, Rage: 8/8

@ Garrett: Works for me. I think it'd be a lot of the emotional, and a little of the sexism. She hasn't really gotten over the loss of her uncle, or the perceived breaking of her oath. (I'll go into that a little more in another post if anyone would like more info on how all of that fits in.) Anyway, I think I may steal what you've done. Seems like a good way to build up how our characters interact pretty quickly.

Everyone: After showing up covered in blood holding a sword like she was some child with a favored toy, word of what happened spread pretty quickly. She's the sole survivor of a vicious attack on a caravan and lost her uncle. What no one but the blacksmith and his family knows is that there's more to it besides the death of a family member. (That'll come out in the RP hopefully.)

Amara: Elarya doesn't know Amara that well, although she may have seen her head off into the woods a time or two, or flirting with Garrett while running an errand or walking around town trying to keep her mind off of things.

Garrett: Garrett is luckier than he knows. The young nordic woman is one of many strong women who have come from the Whitescale clan. Questioning their combat prowess is not a wise act, nor is treating them in a way that is reminiscent of the tales the southerns tell of knights and princesses. So far she has been a little to withdrawn to bite his head off, even if the treatment sometimes rankles her enough to get her imagining the boy's head is a piece of iron she's working on.

Havak: Oddly enough, Havak would be the person Elarya knows best. After an awkward introduction, she would have gotten along with the strange goblin and gotten to know him a little bit from the dealings that would happen from time to time for orders the smithy had to fill. Overall, she has grown comfortable with him.

Rook: Other than the fact you're a raven, she doesn't know anything about you buddy.

Sansa: Elarya would find some of the things that happen around you worrisome. The eye mysteriously changing color would not help. Although, I think you may be finding that out soon enough.

F Changeling Oracle 1, Witch 1/AC 12/HP 13/F +3 R +3 W +8/Init +1/Perc +7/+9

No worries, Elarya. The whole long, hard nails and glove wearing probably won't help matters either. ;)

HP: 20/23 AC 14/12/12: F +5, R +2, W -1, Per:+4, Init: +2, Rage: 8/8

Heh, well if Sansa ever faces her mother, then Elarya will be right in the thick of it. She may not feel comfortable around you, but she'll be damned before she let's something harm someone innocent while she's around.

Alright, cool. This is some good input.

Garrett is a very empathetic person and I think that would be overbearing for Elarya or anyone who values their own personal space.

He would most definitely take to Sansa seeing as she's so reminiscent of his little brother, Erec. He's definitely oblivious to the fact that he's an Aasimar at this point in the story (thanks to a super nifty racial trait it makes sense). Others (like Sansa) may pick it up but he would simply shrug off suspicion.

Sansa - I'm letting shrodingerscat control my paladin abilities for now and the knowledge to this world's religious pantheon is something neither me nor my character know of. I'd say when these things start to develop so will our characters' relationship. Especially if we serve the same deity.

M Humanborn

Havak is mostly a self-absorbed type, mostly because he is an extreme outsider in the town since he is of a dramatically different race. He has cordial relations with everyone, but hardly close since his interactions with most people are limited. Anyone who uses alchemical items or has questions about alchemical properties would be interacting with him more.

Female Human Ranger Level 2

My turn:)
Amara is a happy tomboy type. She doesn't do what is expected for a girl but is friendly to everyone who has been accepted as a member of the town. She is not complicated, but perhaps that will change as she experiences life.

Elarya Like was said the girls would not know each that well as their circles would not often intersect. When they do Amara would always smile and be friendly and be completely oblivious to Elarya's inner turmoil. She probably just thinks she's a bit boring.

Garrett She enjoys the occasional flirting with Garrett (he is after all probably the best looking boy in town), but it is harmless fun done mostly to annoy her somewhat over-protective brothers. She is more concerned with learning the ways of a hunter than boy/girl relationships. They probably know each other relatively well though as they were both born and raised in town by fisher families.

Havak She was fascinated with Havak when he arrived and barraged him with endless questions. His seeming grumpiness did not deter her but other than teaching her goblin to get her to leave him alone a bit she now mostly just sees him when Samel decides to visit Johnas.

Rook She knows maybe not exactly what Rook is, but she knows that he is special and enjoys the fact that she knows some of his secrets. The fact that he likes to spend time in the forest makes it likely that they would know each other better than the average townsperson would.

Sansa As Sansa spends so much time at the Watchtower and Amara is so often in the forest their paths very rarely cross. When they do Amara is friendly but as Sansa hasn't exhibited an abundance of bonhomie, she hasn't paid her too much attention. When she starts to notice Sansa's changes she will probably become more curious and may question the girl more thoroughly. This would just be done out of curiosity as nothing Amara does is malicious, but it may be seen as being quite pushy and rude.

F Changeling Oracle 1, Witch 1/AC 12/HP 13/F +3 R +3 W +8/Init +1/Perc +7/+9

@Amara: Seems fair enough. Would like to see how Sansa responds to Amara's curiosity. ;) And bonhomie isn't Sansa's way. lol

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Awakened crow (magical beast) Bard 1

Amara Friend. Feels a kindred spirit as they both are discovering a new world. His, the messy world of humanity. Hers, the unpredictable natural world. And yet through her, he sees his old world through fresh eyes.

Elarya He sees a soul torn from its home. Her pain reminds him of what he has lost. Her eyes mirror a dark loneliness he prefers to keep locked away.

Garrett Out of deference to his brother Erec, Rook keeps up the act around him. He enjoys sharing a secret with someone. So he observes and tries to understand tight bond the brothers have. When he sees them together he feels something he has not found a way to categorize.

Havak He and the goblin have kept a quiet distance, though they've shared a laugh or two at Johnas' expense. Rook feels the goblin perhaps understands him more than the others ever could. Both outcast from their societies for being different, special, they seem to share a silent respect.

Sansa He watches her from afar. Though she reminds him of Corvina, there is a disturbing chaos that surrounds her. It is a magic he does not understand and warily keeps clear. Whenever he sees the watchtower on the horizon it sends chills down his body.

F Changeling Oracle 1, Witch 1/AC 12/HP 13/F +3 R +3 W +8/Init +1/Perc +7/+9

@Rook: Haha. Poor Sansa -- the only one Rook doesn't trust and is acutely wary of. ;) No love for the little Oracle.

Addendum: Sansa has some lovely fresh wiggling worms for the crow. ;)

and no one thinks twice when the goblin talks to an animal. probably think he is drunk haha

You mean he wasn't?

Judging by the company he keeps... haha :-)

Elarya Whitescale wrote:
I wouldn't take out the ladder, how are Sansa and Dante going to get down?

Personally I was thinking rope or a levitate spell. I think that climbing up there to engage it would be a pretty bad idea.

When you're climbing your flat footed and may even provoke an AoO just to get into position. If/when it busts through the trap door we'll probably provoke another just in getting onto that level since it'll be right there. Besides, I'm not quite sure how big that area is up there. My guess is that's a 20-30ft fall if we take any damage while moving up there.

Garrett's plan would be to keep it away from Celest's adoptee's for as long as possible.

Just saying...

HP: 20/23 AC 14/12/12: F +5, R +2, W -1, Per:+4, Init: +2, Rage: 8/8

WIS 9 + raging = not thinking clearly

Sorry not trying to invalidate your argument. Elarya is pissed off, as in she's getting ready to rend this thing with her bare hands. My next few actions, unless Garrett can talk real fast to make her see sense, is to grab the snake, pull it free from the ladder and start clubbing it against something solid.

And in a similar vein, I think that Garrett might be a little scared by the almost frothing at the mouth Barbarian.

Female Human Ranger Level 2

Could always put the ladder back up when you're done ;)

WIS 12 + Lifetime Student of Warfare + Paladin = Calm/Collected.

I appreciate you putting it into character terms. I gave my shot with Garrett's best ability at this point. Diplomacy.

The roll was just to show a point. I leave it up to other players whether or not they actually translate to affect your character.
