With regards to house rules, nothing really comes to mind. We were using the medium XP track, but that's really all I can think of.

Oh, and our characters were built using a 22 point buy instead of something like 20 or 25.


Ah that´s already some information, if one considers that AP´s are for 4 PC´s with 15 point buy stats normally^^
I´ll remember that when adjusting APL! :D

Am i right when i assume you people have fun playing out the first part of this AP on the ship? There is a lot of roleplaying opportunity there, but else it´s not that exciting for many people. Let me know what you think please.

Since i prefer serious planning in campaigns, i´ll rather read through the whole thread carefully and also take a deeper look at your PC´s before i start posting actions.

I ran this on the tabletop, (Only first book) and after two straight sessions of trying to influence people, we were all bored to tears. I can't imagine how long that would take in PbP. I'd prefer to do some roleplaying, but maybe cut it short a bit.

I´ll run this with pleasure, but i totally lack the time to come up with posts like Blackaeon did daily. Will do my best for roleplay though.
You´ll be on the ship for some days and there will be a routine. You can explore, interact and generally do what you want, untill you get caught with the wrong stuff or someone minds it. Then you´ll get surprises^^
Else is sleeping, some brekafast, work, rum rations, dinner, entertainment, sleeping.

We´ll continue with that fight i guess.
If you interact with an NPC you should track that on the sheet i provided. Also you can access the map and move your own tokens there, which will go online soon.

And I'm not familiar with how ditzie works. Never used it before.

Also, I can only view the NPC sheet you provided. I can't edit it at all; I think Jaina managed to make 'Ratline' Friendly the first day.

I´ll put your character tokens from here on that map. You can move your own token (and others, what you should not^^) where you want it.
You then have to hover with the mouse over the token or somewhere, press enter and wait for the website to save and generate a new link.
You have to post this new link (from the browser adress line) as a maplink here in you post then please, so we can see what you moved.
Else your movement is lost.

Just for quick future reference with regards to the rigging jobs:

When it calls for Climb checks, how many do I need to make?


It´s only one climb check for the whole day. It´s a dicing orgy enough already^^ I´m also a bit keen to shorten this a bit. It´s only really good if you do heavy roleplaying. Mostly you are supposed to make friends or foes onboard in this first part.

That said, did you talk about the grog with the former GM? Running as written could be pretty harsh. In the RL campaign one PC is already addicted to it and loosing a lot of CON. Besides some other things hehe.

He had said he planned on sapping the grog some, because you are right as is its a pretty harsh beast and I get the purpose of it, just I think its a bit too harsh myself. But hey.. your the boss now.

Seems we´ll post daytime and nighttime actions separately, which is fine with me.
I´ll cut it down to the important days where something is happening, i think you should have enough time to make some friends anyway. If not i´ll give you opportunity later. Else it takes too long with this part of the story and gets boring i think. It´s too much rolling jobs and stuff.

Here's a quick recap of events we've had on the ship for your convenience:

-We've met Sandara Quinn already. She gave Percival back his chain shirt and Randall his squeezebox & a chain shirt.

-Jaina has befriended 'Ratline' her first day aboard.

-Jakes Magpie has been keelhauled.

-Xiakon messed up on the cooking and almost got smacked with a rope.

-We beat up the pirates who tried to make us late for work.

-And now, Randall was volunteered as Mr. Scourge's whipping post.


On the second day onboard, you all have a strange feeling of Deja Vu, since some things seem to happen again.

I couldn't agree more. We spent two Saturdays making all these rolls, and about halfway through the third we decided "Aw Screw it". Let's just move on. You're going to make enough rolls to make those your friends that you want to anyway, and you don't want the party to die trimming sails, so let's move on. :-).


actually you´re past day two, since fighting the pirates under deck is day two. Nevermind, we´ll go to day three and four then.


A challenge in this AP for every GM is the roleplaying of so many characters like there are onboard the Wormwood. Also in PbP it takes a lot of time to write that out.
Probably it´s not one of me strongest sides yet, so please forgive me, if it seems a little shallow.

I´m reading a book on that at the moment though and hope to get some insights from there. If you have any comments or tipps, critisizm good or bad, please vioce it. It´s always welcome.

I decided to focus on some characters that are important for the AP and the ones you will erspecially focus on, or at least i´ll try.
