MWAH-HA-HAAA

I'm currently gathering players and prepping material.

If you want to keep your Darkness character, check the HRPG first for background material, then decide about your old character. You'll need to change the backstory and traits to fit Hell's Rebels.

I'm considering making this a hybrid campaign and scheduling a Skype/TTop session when we get into combat, so we roll through more quickly. Any thoughts on that idea? I can post a summary of the combat in the gameplay thread after the session.

I'm very happy some of the Darkness crew are interested!

Hey ho!
Crazy-PC player signing in! ;P

Hm, Skype? Interested of course, IF we can ever manage to arrange it to fit with all of our schedules. (Mine can be particularly FULL with my work + Kids + Wife's schedules) :/
But if all of the 'IF's' are made to align? Sure. :)

Slidell is one of my fave PC's, and I'd love to play him past level 3 or 4, but I'm not sure I wanna change him too much to fit into HR. I may end up making a very SIMILAR pc, but likely not Sli. ;)

HR sounds very Vigilante-esque to me, from what little I know about it. But it does have 'Hell' right in the title, so I'm guessing Devils and etc cannot be far behind? Not sure Zorro is up for that. ;P

I shall peruse the HRPG, and return!

Buuut not tonight. I'm close to turning into a pumpkin. ;)

Laters Players! :D

Legendary Merchant of Pins

Already have a crazy idea for a character. I'm not sure if Damien would be a good fit, so I started brainstorming and think I may have something good. I will chat/Pm you, Treppa.

I'm in!

Scheduling for a Skype session may be a challenge, but we can try!

Probably not keeping Araxus, since he never really "clicked" for me.

MWAH-HA-HAAA

Scheduling can definitely be a challenge, but if we can cut down combat from a month of posts to 2-3 hours of real time, it could be worth it.

Four players have accepted to date, so game on! Download your Player's Guide and start doing homework.

I'm sometimes in dmtools Paizo chat if you have a quick question or want to talk game. So far, we've had good luck with that not showing up on work blocker lists. There's no log of that chat, so you have to copy/paste somewhere to save it, but it does allow private rooms, so I can make a players-only room for SSS discussion. It's also a good place for quick rolls in front of the GM.

MWAH-HA-HAAA

So far, I have six players, which is manageable. If we get to eight, I'll probably break us into two groups of four. That would allow one group to be high-velocity, posting daily (or nearly so), and the other to be more casual and slower-paced -- if the groups divide evenly. Just a thought.

MWAH-HA-HAAA

Right, got eight. Two groups of four would be ideal. Does anybody have preferences on fast/slow posting, so I can divvy up players? Fast, for this purpose, means posting daily (or nearly so) on weeknights. Casual means at least weekly.

Other division ideas are welcome for discussion. Roster is posted in campaign information. Most of us are in North America, so time zone division doesn't work. Some folks are already in games together and might prefer playing with people they know. All of you guys are solid gamers and RPers, so nobody should worry about that.

Feel free to discuss, or PM me with concerns/preferences if you don't want them public. I'll divvy up threads this weekend.

I'd like to have character creation complete by the end of next week (29 Jan) so I can get initial postings done that weekend. Let's get this revolution on the road!

I'm half-tempted to run two groups as rival/cooperating factions, but the victory point mechanics might not stand up to that. If that idea really grabs you guys, I'll look at it more deeply, but it might delay the start of the game. I've already reserved the Recruitment thread as a secondary gameplay area, so theoretically... ;) We'd all need to be at the same pace, though.

MWAH-HA-HAAA

Woo! Definitely two groups if not two games.

Good thing you decided to play, Mike. I was going to recruit you as co-GM if you didn't. :D

I'm in -- and I'd prefer the "fast" group of daily to the slow group of weekly.

Silver Crusade

Male Celestial Cleric of Myself 10/Radiant Servant of Me 10

I'd volunteer for the slower one.

MWAH-HA-HAAA

The casual group can post more often, of course. I won't hurry them along, though. I will adapt to their posting velocity.

I suspect Rags will volunteer for the ludicrous speed group.

Silver Crusade

Male Celestial Cleric of Myself 10/Radiant Servant of Me 10

I'm thinking some kind of rogue.

Most of the time, yes. :)

I mean, even when I'm stupid busy (OR just dealing with all of the stupidity) I usually manage to find a few minutes to peruse my threads.
Maybe not ALWAYS make my infamous chapter-long posts, but I usually manage to keep up.
:)

Finding something worthwhile to post recently OTOH, has been, challenging. :( (But that's me, not you guys!) :)

I have a couple of fun maybe ideas. MAybe not the strongest PC in the game, but fun to play! :)

Give me a couple of days to toy with these,... :) (And look up builds by peeps FAR better at this than I am!) ;P

MWAH-HA-HAAA

I put proposed rosters in the Campaign Info tab, based on either stated preference or historical posting frequency. It divides nicely into 4/5, though we could move one slot from Intense to Casual if somebody really doesn't want to be in the Intense group.

If these groups work for everyone, I'll put up another thread Friday so each group has a place to discuss character builds. Homework is due tomorrow and I'm behind, so no fun work on HR until I've finished that.

Well then,...
Better get to work Treppa!
PBP waits for no school! ;P

Sounds cool, have fun at school! See you in a couple of days. :)

Lastwall Heroes - Current Date: Toilday, 31 Desnus, 4711 AR | Shadowrun - Current Date: Saturday, March 13, 2060

Seems reasonable to me...

Whoopsie, didn't see that this thread was active

But yeah, I may/can do a skype session/combat...probably :P

I do like the idea of the two groups vaguely co-operating, but similar combats...etc. may not make that viable. But some cross-over is always a bit of fun (like if one group puts out a poster/pamphlet the others could see it)

Ooo I like that DSXM!

yeah, I know from previous AP's that there is usually enough content in there that Treppa probably COULD run us through the exact same AP and it could still seem like 2 different Adventures. We may only 'meet up' in the BIG battles, or if we both decided to investigate the 3 spots in the same order, etc. Otherwise we'd only see the results of the others handiwork. Not always viable in a 'straightforward' AP where you have to get to the BBEG by defeating all his minions one by one, but in an urban setting? I can see it.

Not that I'm TRYING to make more work for Treppa! ;P

OMG, ROFL,... sorry, just had a flashback to Order of the Stick a few years ago. When they met up with the 'other party' that looked so very much like them?!? :)

First HERE

And here :)

Or you could do a Shaun of the Dead where one group is so much more successful than the other....

Now I'm reminded of the Squid of Despair episode (series 5, epi 6) from Red Dwarf - where the crew find out how little success they've been having in their VR-RPG...

Anyway, I've a few idea's for characters - so yay!

MWAH-HA-HAAA

That's what I was going to do, but decided it will be too difficult without a co-GM and with the two groups at different paces.

GM Treppa wrote:

Yeah that's what I figured.

But it IS a fun thought! :)

I also have a character idea or two. (Besides my usual default Wiz/sor choices) ;P
Still playing with them. BUT with the amount of time I'm spending researching the classes, I'll probably go with one of these. (Hate to waste all this time!) :)

And if he dies horribly, his Wiz brother can always come pick up where he left off! ;P

Question, is anyone really wanting to keep their concept secret til the reveal? or shall we post our class ideas, or at least 'roles' (man I hate that distinction!) to assist those of us who tend to have difficulty in making up our minds? :D

I'm good either way, just curious.

I think we're probably better off talking about roles, just to make sure they're all filled.

Four first level wizards tend to be less than ideal at avoiding the TPK.

Revealing ideas are good, and then we can link our PC's together. Which after my last face-to-face game where we didn't have synergy/motivation was horrible, it's good to sort of work out if/how we know each other.

MWAH-HA-HAAA

Created campaign for the intense (daily) posters. Feel free to bop over and start party and character discussion. Casual campaigners can discuss here. Woo!

Legendary Merchant of Pins

I have several ideas for possible characters.

  • (Current frontrunner) Android Psychic: spell caster, potential focus on enemy mind control and NPC manipulation. Empathy feat as Android has learned emotions and had a psychic awakening after each successive generation of the Android studied the patterns of Kintargo, life, and the Devil's Bells. Start of game is literal Memento type moment as Android is awakening in this incarnation for the first time in a room with all of his previous soul's notes and journal regarding the pattern study.
  • Android Investigator: lore specialist and overall skill monkey. Empiricist AT. Logical and emotionless, has been charting the notion of freedom and the history of its emergence and suppression for many decades. His study indicates the cost of tying one's soul to Hell is illogical, and surely the country tied to such leaders are being used by Hell in some inscrutable way.
  • Tiefling Slayer: Single target eliminator. No nonsense and practical, the amoral wetwork specialist sees the chance for the oppression of his race to end. Not one to shrink from what others may hesitate to do, he has been conditioned to view life as a commodity that has little real value when freedom has been removed. Once revolution has been introduced, he finds himself fully committed and has no problem with removing any obstacle regardless of others' ethics.

Silver Crusade

Male Celestial Cleric of Myself 10/Radiant Servant of Me 10

I'm working up a half-elf rogue / pamphleteer / revolutionary agitator. Emphasis in skills associated with subterfuge. His pseudonymous satirical screeds are already circulated among those with anti-government sympathies.

Down with the plutocracy! Vive la revolution!

Celestial Doodlebug!

MWAH-HA-HAAA

So for party roles, looks like we could have:

  • pinvendor - mage- or fighter-type
  • CH - skills

Somebody with healing would not be amiss. Slayer is interesting - full BAB, but not a combat heavy.

MWAH-HA-HAAA

I promise not to swarm you at first level this time. Whoopsie.

MWAH-HA-HAAA

A Milanian would be good. Linguistics will definitely be a valuable skill in this AP. This is a better AP for tieflings and halflings than other Chelaxian adventures I have seen. CoT was rough for those races.

It looks like there will be supporting NPCs eventually, so you might be able to survive without a primary healer.

+2 for first character build.

Silver Crusade

Sweet! I'll add it to my Dex.

(Kidding!)

Combat expertise feels like such a waste of a feat. Damn prerequisites...

I'll make sure you need it, then. A lot.

You're welcome. :D

Just saw the threatening defender trait. Makes it less of a waste.

Legendary Merchant of Pins

No fair! I have one of my character builds done, but was waiting on feedback for the concepts I listed! :O

MWAH-HA-HAAA

You use Herolab, so you'd only get a +1 anyway.

MWAH-HA-HAAA

OK, I've got stat blocks, first battle map, NPC/monster tokens, and rebellion record sheets built. I will put up a very general Kintargo post in Gameplay tonight sometime, then you guys can put up an inital character post when you're ready. That will put the campaign on your campaign list.

Remember, you can change the portrait anytime and the alias name within the first 10 posts, so don't be shy about posting from an unfinished character just to get this on your map.

Whew! Feels good to do this again. Thanks for playing, guys.

MWAH-HA-HAAA

Oddly enough, I cannot make a post in Gameplay. I've turned in a trouble ticket, but staff won't be in until Monday. Can anybody else post?

Legendary Merchant of Pins

Just submitted two posts which appear to be invisible, so that's a no on my end.

Silver Crusade

Male Celestial Cleric of Myself 10/Radiant Servant of Me 10

For what it's worth, pinvendor, I think both the psychic and slayer concepts work well. The investigator will have a lot of overlap with the rogue, but if you love the character play it anyway!

Male Half-elf Rogue 1

Background and personality info is up.

MWAH-HA-HAAA

Any interest in using Hero Points for this campaign? I'll go along with a player vote on it.

Silver Crusade

Male Celestial Cleric of Myself 10/Radiant Servant of Me 10

Sure, why not?

MWAH-HA-HAAA

I haven't really played with them, but it irks me to see a good player build a good character and play that character well, then get boned by cold dice. Being saved by a deus ex isn't very gratifying. I figured if you had hero points, you could save yourselves, if it comes to that.

Any updates on our other PCs?
