Seila Merrilon's Backstory:
Among the courtesans and prostitutes of the great city of Akashi becoming pregnant is considered an unprofessional and dirty taboo. Such children are fated for orphangaes at best and slavery at worse.

Not only did Seila's mother become pregnant but she gave birth to a monster. Twice damned by the peers she relied on for survival she was cast into the streets with her monstrous daighter to face whatever terrible fate the cities darkest nights held in store.

To this date the exact fate of Seila's mother is all but unknown. Seila herself does not speak of it and for now that is unimportant.

She gained her start as a proffesional killer at a young age. Children her age were willing to do anythign to survive to the next meal and she was no exception. When she was chosen by a local gang to deliver a deadly package to a rival gang leader none had expected her to survive.

And indeed when the roval gang leader discovered the nature of the package his intent was a slow and painful murder for the ugly little girl who brought it. Instead a fearsome demon emerged from the shadows and began ripping his men apart. To make matters worse for him was the little demon girl simply ripping a blade from a dead mans hands and hacking the rest of his guards to pieces. The ensuing massacre only lasted a moment but in that moment whatever hope for the little girl vanished entirely.

She returned to the gang that originally hired her as a delivery girl carrying the severed head of that gang's leader. None had expected her to survive, but they could not have imagined her returning to demand payment while still covered in blood.

And so began a surprisingly successful career as a hired hitman. The shadowy demon that was her savior was a creature by the name of Xon. He did not explain his reasons for her rescue and any attempts to discern his origins were always met with vague adn cryptic remarks if he said anything at all. Regardless he guided her in developing her arcane abilities explaining that her fiendish heritage gave her an intimate connection with the great beyond and her powerful bloodline let her rip creatures from that endless beyond to serve her whims.

As she grew older, her skills with blade and spell grew sharper and so did her price and reputation. HEr looks matured from an ugly impish thing into an exotic and dangerous looking beauty with an unmistakable fiendish heritage. Hardly a subtle hitwoman she traveled wide and far to dodge authorities and ensure the highest possible payouts for each job. She specialized in dealing with highly guarded targets and was often hired by organizations who were out to sned a bloody message to rivals. She was not terribly picky about her clients working for thieves guilds, mages with grudges, evil governments, churches and occasionally law enforcement agencies.

During the Amberfall war broke it was business as usual. She worked both sides choosing to prefer neither one or the other as long as both paid well. Working more as a mercenary than assassin she became widely feared as the Flower of Death that blossoms suddenly and leaves nothing but torn bodies and gore in her wake.

Even as the order began to rip apart their enemies and leave nothing but shredded armies in their wake she still refused to choose sides. Afterall what difference would it really make to her?

It was the Amberfall Order that betrayed her first. Feeling that she was a liability at best if left alone they hired her for an impossible hit on one of the last bastions left to the remaining kingdoms as they were preparing to unleash a devastating arcane ritual that would wipe the area clean of life.

Barely escaping with her life intact she sought out those immediately responsible and tortured them in very slow and very painful ways before presenting their ruined and still living bodies to her contacts among the Remnants.

Knowing her knack for surviving desperate situations the Remnants hired her to join the elite team that would soon be responsible for the assassination of the Order's highest ranking leaders.

To her this is not revenge (she has that as far as she's concerned) but a necessary balancing of the scales. If the Order wins than the war will be over and though she may still get work among rebel groups or criminal organizations she would be facing against a much more powerful organization with her death on their mind. Further their is a chance that they may bring order and peace to the world even if is a tyranny. In such a world her services may no longer be required and she simply cannot allow that.

Looks and PErsonality:

Seila is a thin, wiry woman clearly tough and athletic underneath the very expensive kimonos, robes, and dresses she prefers to wear. Her style of dress is more akin to a courtesan than a hitman and it's unclear whether this is merely personal taste long white and sharp horns sprout from the edges of her forehead and curve straight back and behind her head often incorporated into some elaborte hairstyle for her straight black hair. A long sinous tail with white scales can often be spotted weaving between her robes. HEr skin is pale s@~~e and covered along her neck, shoulders, back, and the backs of her arms in bony ridges. Her hands and feet end in thick black claws that are hardly useful for much and are often painted with a red laquer. She is rarely seen without her bronze NAginata and her spiked cestus of black leather.

Xon himself is a creatute vaguely reminiscent of a lamia with its lion body and humanoid torso but the resemblances end there. It's flesh appears to have been made from hard black marble and is polished to a hard sheen. It's legs all end in terribly scythe like claws. It's torso emerges from where the lions head would be in the form of a hugely muscled man wearing a serene looking androgynous mask. In the middle of its chest is a slavering mouth full of serrated sharks teeth and its muscular arms end in wicked claws. From its back unfurl rustling crows wings of black. When it speaks it is form behind the mask in a deep monotone reminiscent of bellowing in deep forbidding caves.

Seila herself is a hard woman with little to no concern for her fellow human beings. Her viewpoint is colored much by her uprbringing and profession as wel as her experiences in the war. People are things. With about as much value and worth as what other people put to them whether that is a value to keep alive or a value for destruction is entirely up to other people. To her morality is a delusion created by idealists to help explain the horrors of the world wrought by other people. What they fail to realize is that the only thing of value in the world is wealth. Wealth can buy and sell everything from nations, to armies, to people, and even petty ideals like love and honor can easily be traded for money with the right people. Even in those rare isntances where she must save a life or two it is merely a means to a greater end, more wealth, or simply personal pleasure. She keeps a polite and personable veneer as a matter of professionalism only letting her true self loose in times of anger and carnage when the flower of death blossoms. During these times her almond eyes of crimson turn solid red engorged with bloodlust and the need to lash out at the world and all its injustices.

In stark contrast is Xon whom seems to exhibit an almost perfect calm even when ripping Seila's foes to pieces. Speaking in a perfect monotone and often apologizing for some imagined slight it may have committed it's difficult to imagine a creature such as Xon working as Seila's go between for work but he is often at the negotiating table, his massive size and negotiating skills an immense boon when dealing with types not easily intimidated by Seila's reputation and underestimating her by looks alone.

Aaanddd done. Profile has link in it leading to complete sheet.

Phynn reporting for duty.

Perfect. I've just got back from a wedding (not a red one) and I'll be finishing up the choosing. This may be pushed to tomorrow.

Huzzah!

Yay!

I'll withdraw my interest in submitting a character. Other things have been on my mind, but it sounded like a good time.

@The Hirtz Factor: Alright then.

Been more busy than I expected but I should have my final selection by tonight.

Can't wait, and shanks for the update. :)

Hey! Very cool!

Should I go ahead and put together a profile page for B'auw, then?

Odd, the link is working for me...

Try this one.

EDIT: Heh, and before you ask, yes I forgot to buy arrows. I'll fill them out with the rest of my mundane equipment if I'm accepted.

Congratulations to those already accepted.

Dropbox link.

Can't wait for final results.

After much, much deliberation, and a lot of tough choices, the final team for The Siege on Amberfall is:

- Schahrizade I'Nam Morroq
- Rose Bracebuck
- Thak
- B'auw
- Seila Merrilon
- Nawarld Gondieran
- Shaelathar Silvermoon
- Calithilon the Dreamer
- Sergeant Harth
- Faerdorcha Maercair

Ten of you have been chosen.

The final conditions are as follows:

- Have a completed alias.
- Have a complete and finalized character sheet on said alias, preferably one that is easy to read. For an example of a very easy to read one, you can check Mabuu in my aliases. I find this helps me a great deal.
- You must be able to post minimum 1/day. Without prior notifications and minus dire circumstances this shouldn't be too hard. If you haven't posted in a bit, then I'll PM you a warning. Next time we find a suitable in game reason to evict said character.
- Everything must be done by Friday at the latest. Those of you who are already done will be able to begin the following task:

With 10 players you as a team will need to form two teams. The decisions of who goes where are left up to you to decide. The teams will post on the same page and will usually be together but are able to split up and take on two different tasks at the same time.

As for everyone who didn't make it, I apologize. The decisions were tough for me as well. Some propositions for you are:

- Me and Rizzenmagus are tentatively starting an Epic level game in Recruitment.

- As games fluctuate and die out, I usually try to maintain at least 3-4. Keep a look out in Recruitment and you may see a new game starting soon. I have a few unique ideas in mind.

Thanks to everyone who participated!

I suppose we should determine teams based on roles? I'm primarily a ranged attacker with decent melee and healing abilities. And I'd be happy to go wherever most beneficial.

Sounds logical. Thak is a very skilled ranged attacker, reasonably poor at melee, but with very high social skills- 25 for bluff, 23 for diplomacy, 16 for intimidate.

Most of the time you're together, so no need to decide right away. When a time will call for a split up, depending on what is required, you can then decide.

Discussion and Gameplay is up, just so everyone knows.

Is there a reason you didn't list Phynn?

I realise she isn't quite finished; if this is the reason, I'll finish her and, maybe, if people drop out, you can consider her.

:)

Roles and alignment might be the most prudent course on top of everything else.

So let me run down the sheets here and I'll give my thoughts. No reason our paladin should have to suffer the presence of psychopaths and murderers.

Tark, that would be helpful, but let's do that listing in the Discussion thread. :)

ok will have an alias drawn up and completed before this evening just heading out to work quick since they have some issues there.

That was mainly the reason. If ever there's a drop out, you'll be on the list to join in. As I said, the decision on who to cut were hard.
