Ellantera |
Thanks, Erwin!
Ellantera's obviously feeling better after the cleric shares Abadar's blessing, but she continues her dark glances at her brother for the first couple blocks, probably to his continued amusement.
Uraisa Ellsworth |
Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
I'm fighting a fierce bout of the flu right now guys, so I might need a bit of help running Uraisa this fight, if I'm not around. All I've used is the one Burning Hands spell so far. Hopefully it'll,break soon and I can her back, but I am struggling right now.
Put me at D 6.
DM Shisumo |
Rolling for Kassandra and Galyna so we can move forward.
Galyna's initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Kassandra's initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Man's initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Demon's initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Man's Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Demon's Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
The man reaches out his hand and hurls a handful of mineral dust into the air. It takes on a life of its own, swirling forward to land in the midst of the group; as it moves, it begins to sparkle and glow almost unbearably.
Will save DC 17 from everyone except Shiv. Failure means blindness. Miet, Uraisa, Kassandra and Ellantera can take their actions now - if you're blinded, you can make another save at that point.
Ellantera |
Original Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Retry Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
"Gah! I'm getting really tired of mages tonight! Where is he?"
The obviously blinded girl moves toward the man's last position tentatively, drawing the fallen elf's nice sword as she does so.
I am assuming the second save required an action and moving while blind will force her to move slowly, so 10' forward to H8.
Kassandra the Seer |
Kassandra responds quickly as she sees the man beginning to cast a spell. Pulling a short feather from one of her pockets, she mutters a few words and blows it in his general direction.
Slumber Hex on the man, DC 14 vs. Will.
Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
As the man finishes to cast his spell, Kassandra's sight grows dark for a second, but she focuses on her eyes and clears it.
DM Shisumo |
Wizard's Reflex save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8.
Wizard's Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23.
Uraisa's flames burn the man and his demonic companion, but the demon seems immune and the damage harms but does not greatly damage the wizard. Even with the injury, though, he seems to have little difficulty shaking off Kassandra's hex. Meanwhile, the demon hisses angrily, flickering and disappearing.
I've moved El to H8, but the save does not take an action, so she can make it all the way to J8 if she wants. Everyone can take actions now - Oscar's already declared his, but he does get another Will save. Anyone else who is still blinded gets another save after they take their action.
Severus "Shiv" |
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 -5 penalty for moving normal speed added in already. I think darkness gives him a perception penalty instead of me a bonus so didn't add anything for that.
Hoping to reach the mage before his eyes readjust from Uraisa's summoned flame, Shiv skulks up along side the spellcaster while silently slipping his blade free for its sheath. He says as he sticks his rapier in the man, "Ya really shouldnah bushwacked us lot. It's likely ta end up painful fer ya."
Drawing blade as part of his move action to L5. Man seems unarmed so moving through his threatened area intentionally. That and hopefully the man is flat-footed anyway.
Rapier strike: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Sneak attack damage if he remains unseen: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Possible crit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
As a side note, witches hexes are quite powerful but generally very short range (30' feet in this case). Got one in my Kingmaker game.
Ellantera |
"Shiv, did you get him? Erwin! Don't let him die - he might know something about our mystery!"
Please move her another 10'; she's moving half-speed because of the blindness. I'm not looking at the map since I'm blind.
Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Yeah, I'm going to be here for a while.
Ellantera tries to locate her brother based on the sound of his voice and moves that way slowly. DM determination as to how successful that is.
Ellantera |
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 76
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 63
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Sorry, not sure if I was supposed to attempt two different combat maneuvers. I expect you will disregard the second if it is in error.
Galyna |
Sorry was also laid out by the flu.
Galyna focuses past the glare and sparkles drawing a bead on the wizard with her crossbow. She lets fly with a difficult shot hoping that Salt's blind stumbling wouldn't get him killed.
Will1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 10 - 4 = 17 (shooting into melee)
1d10 ⇒ 1
1d100 ⇒ 62
Kassandra the Seer |
Kassandra advances towards the wizard, gritting her teeth as she readies herself for any other magical spell to hit her. When she is very close, she mutters a few arcane words and gestures with her hands as liquid jets of flame burst forward.
Move to K5, Burning Hands on the wizard. 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 damage.
DM Shisumo |
Wizard's Ref save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Kassandra's flame sears the man, and Galyna's crossbow shot grazes him, and he begins to mutter, "Need some help, need some help...". He backs away from Shiv and raises his arms to cast another spell. With a mystical incantation, suddenly several versions of himself appear where he is standing, blurring and overlapping together, making it difficult to tell which one is him.
There are 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 duplicates.
Oscar, still swinging where the man was instead of where he is now, slams his hammer into the street. Everyone else can take their actions; you can once again roll a save if you are still blinded at the end of your action. Since Oscar's away, I'll go ahead and roll his Will save for him: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15.
DM Shisumo |
Wizard's Will save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
The wizard seems unaffected by Uraisa's magic.
Also, before I forget, anyone not blinded who tries a physical attack on the mage needs to roll for the mirror image. Do so by rolling 1dX as part of the attack, where X is the current number of duplicates plus 1 (so, with 4 duplicates now, you'll roll 1d5). A roll of a 1 indicates you hit the mage himself, anything else destroys a duplicate. The usual rules for destroying duplicates on near-misses apply as well, of course. While the concealment still prevents sneak attacks, the mirror images basically supersede the 20% miss chance for concealment the wizard had before.
Severus "Shiv" |
Think you can draw the weapon as part of your move action Erwin, giving you a shot still.
Kassandra: Shiv delayed long enough to give you a clear shot in case you wanted to do area effect spells again.
Taking note of the swathes of magical color and flame washing over the enemy mage Shiv pauses a moment to avoid getting caught in the areas. In a chortle filled with sarcasm directed at his sister, "Did I hit him?! Almost gutted him, what are ya blind? 'Cause I'ma havin' trouble tellin' any difference from how ya always fight." Circling the wizard to cut off his escape, Shiv stabs into the swirling images, "Salt, El, come here an' ya'll run right inta him."
Shiv will move to N7 to work flank with anyone who comes up from the other side.
Rapier strike :1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Mirror Image roll: 1d5 ⇒ 4 Hah, killed that image dead!
Ellantera |
Think you can draw the weapon as part of your move action Erwin, giving you a shot still.
Nope - he has to have a BAB of at least +1 to do that. (edit: ninja'd)
Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 Blast it!
Ellantera regains her balance after running into Oscar, turns toward her brother's voice, and moves toward it, shoulder lowered. "Mage, if ye think he hurt you, you don't want to know what's going to happen when I get my sight back! I suggest you surrender."
After the near-success when she accidentally hit Oscar, she's changing tactics because she doesn't want to hit anyone by mistake - though her loudmouth b(r)other she might make an exception for.
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Miss Chance from blindness: 1d100 ⇒ 15
Since I can't see anything, it doesn't seem like the images will matter - but here's a roll for them, as well.
Image targeted: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Erwin Chrysophrase |
Drawing and moving at the same required a BAB of +1, which Erwin thus far lacks. There are indeed only three images remaining, so the next attacker will roll 1d4.
Yes, that's why I only took a single move, drawing the crossbow as a standard action. I'll try to get it loaded next round.
Kassandra the Seer |
Sorry for posting late - I'll be quite busy until May and my posting will probably be slower, so DMPC me if needed.
Kassandra is slightly puzzled by the appearance of more mages, but breaths with relief as some of the figures are are hit and disappeared. She reaches into one of her pockets and throws a handful of sand in front of her, singing in a an unknown, deep language, hoping the mage will not shake off this spell as he did her former hex.
Cast sleep on the mage.
DM Shisumo |
Sleep is not a single-target spell - you run much greater odds of knocking out your allies than you do the wizard with that spell. But you're pretty much out of other tricks - might need to get out your crossbow. In order to keep things moving, would someone like to confirm that decision or suggest and alternative, and make the appropriate roll(s)?
Ellantera |
I think the witch would be well aware of the danger of casting that into the scrum. Rewinding...
Kassandra draws a dagger and moves to M6 to cut off the mage's retreat and discourage further spellcasting.
DM Shisumo |
"Not good enough, not good enough," the mage mumbles, and his face sets into a look of concentration.
Concentration check to cast on the defensive, DC 19: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30.
With an arcane word and gesture, the mage disappears.
You guys can all take your actions now.
