Celestra steps into the bog and gently lays her hands upon the child ready to give what healing she may.

"My dear child, come back to us! You are safe now!"

At a quick glance, is the child dead, unconscious or conscious? This will determine Celestra's standard action.

Ailetha knows that in this region, storms are common - but this is no common storm.

She also knows that Turtleback ferry is on a lake, and and that lake is fed by a river, and that river has a dam... and if that dam broke...

Male Elf Witch/10 (HP: 27/27; AC15; FF13; T15; F+2, R+5, W+10; Perc: +31, Init +2)

Sable nods, and speaks to his feathered companion.

Elven:
"Take to the sky, my friend. Tell me what you see, and where we may be needed most."

VC - Sydney, Australia

The bird takes to the dark grey rain drenched skies, a rough ascent being buffeted by the rain gusts, and is almost invisible to the naked eye within seconds.

Meanwhile Celestra moves to triage the child.
Kid is alive, I assume Celestra followed up with a CLW or the like

It takes just a minute or two to pull the woman and children to safety, the party sets to work helping out as they can for a few minutes more.

Sable is struck all of a sudden by a wave of emotion, Fear, terror, a sense of something huge - his empathy with his feathered companion letting him know that something wicked this way comes.

Empathic Link (Su):
The master has an empathic link with his familiar to a 1 mile distance. The master can communicate empathically with the familiar, but cannot see through its eyes. Because of the link's limited nature, only general emotions can be shared. The master has the same connection to an item or place that his familiar does.

Led on by Sable as he moves to intercept the bird on its way in, you all notice the floodwaters have spread further into town.

Karlan and Bree are distracted by what is going on around them, but the others notice the bird flapping in fast from the direction of the church – and nearby that building you think you see what at first appears to be a huge black tree being swept downriver on a collision course with the church. Moments before the "tree" hits, it submerges.

A few moments later, the floodwaters surge violently, and with a thunderous roar, a gargantuan monster of nightmare pulls from the water - The sight of the immense monster, its primeval head rising as high as the church steeple-sends the villagers of Turtleback Ferry into a blind panic. No one even notices that the rains have suddenly stopped, and that perhaps the flood waters are already beginning to slow. For now, the spectacle of the lake monster seemingly preparing to destroy the church is all that matters .

This is no rain flood. There is a dam upriver. I doubt anything could cause this except a breach of the dam.

Female Changeling(Hulking) Bard/10 (HP: 82/82; AC27; FF23; T14; F+7, R+11, W+7; Perc: +11, Init +10)

Round 3
Seeing Karlan wrapped up, and knowing that the big paladin will likely not appreciate this, Ailetha skirts the reach of the creature before stepping in and toughing the grappled warrior. A second later, the paladin disappears from the grasp of the creature and appears on the opposite side.

Movement should not draw AoO unless the creature has a really long reach.

Cast defensively: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31

Cast Jester's Jaunt - moving Karlan out of the thing's grasp and to the opposite side so that we can hopefully get some flanking.

I moved Karlan, he was 1 down and 1 right of where Ailetha is presently.

Caster Level Check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 <-- if necessary

I really screwed up. I always purchase Feather Step Slippers, and totally spaced it this time, even though I have enough money.

Free Action - continue Inspire Courage (+2 attack/damage)

Female Aasimar Cleric 10 hp 81/83; AC 22, FF 19, T 14; Channel Energy (5d6) [8/10]; Touch of Good [8/9];Agile Feet [9/9];Holy Lance [1/1] Fort: +12, Reflex +10, Will +17; Init +3, Diplomacy +19, Perception +17

Round 4

"Holy Cayden Cailean, we need your strength right now! For the sake of this town and all of its people, use me right now to smite this fiend down."

Celestra defensively casts Holy Smite on the creature.

Concentration Check DC 23: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34

Holy Smite: 5d8 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 3, 1) = 16

or

Holy Smite if this is an Evil Outsider: 9d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 1, 6, 3, 5, 5, 5) = 30

The creature will also become blinded for one round.
Will Save DC 20 for half damage and negate the blindness.

Sczarni

20' Reach - so that will make it

Attack 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (4) + 24 = 28
Damage 2d8 + 13 ⇒ (1, 1) + 13 = 15 + DC 22 Fort save

Celestra draws on the might of her deity!
(Make a check to overcome SR)
(Save if SR overcome 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

It occurs to Karlan quickly that even though he is in a position to flank, the creature is able to track him easily - offering him no advantage...!
Creature cannot be flanked
Also, Karlan on difficult terrain and adjacent creature - so not at 5' distance, plan accordingly :) not grappled any longer though
