I'm not 100% sure who Marcus is in melee with, although I assume its the Ogre!
The ogre lumbers towards Marcus and Kitao and Raven move to intercept it. With a practiced manoeuvre, Marcus puts his bow back over his shoulder and in the same motion he draws his Morningstar and Shield. He steps in and starts cautiously circling the Ogre, prodding here and there but finding no opening.
[dice=Attack with Morningstar, Fatigue, Smite, Flank, Fighting Defensively]1d20+3-1+3+2-4[Dice=Damage]1d8+2-1+1
Move action: put away bow and move to flank with Kitao
Free action: Draw shield + morningstar
Standard action: Attack defensively
AC vs ogre: 17 -1 (fatigue) +3 (smite) +2 (shield) +2 (fighting defensively) = 23
Paladin courageously attacks, but his morning star gets tangled into bones and skulls that are clamoring and racketing while the ogre turns in a tight circle, trying to keep all of his enemies in sight.

Enraged by its wounds, degenerated monster savagely howls and raises both of its club-like hands high towards the pale sky before striking at the samurai with both of them.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 201d6 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 211d6 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
The ogre strikes with both hands, pummeling the noble samurai beyond what his body can bear and remain standing. Bones shatter and Kitao looses consciousness falling to the ground while the blood pours from his mouth.
Kitao was dealt 20 point of damage. His damage reduction makes that 18. He had 12 hp and 5 temp. points that he got as a bonus for his critical success roll on the Fort. save. That means he's at -1 hp now. In my games you are unconscious when you reach 0 hp. While you are at negative hp, you bleed 1 hp per round until your wounds are bandaged or you are given magical healing.

Next round. Goblins act first, ogre last. Faerin is up from her slumber.
Wand-wielding goblin points his free hand at Raven and hisses something on an unknown but foul sounding language...
Raven, please roll Will save...
Edit: DC 18 or suffer -4 penalty on attack rolls, saves, ability checks, and skill checks.

[dice=will save]1d20+3
It's not. But I've made a mistake. Goblin was casting a Bestow Curse, which requires touch attack and I forgot that. So, he just wasted a spell. You are not affected by anything and you may act either against the ogre or if you decide to go for the goblins spend a round to do so. If you decide that, it is pretty obvious that the knife goblin is prepared to attack anyone who approaches the caster.

Raven also tries to identify the spell as it is cast. I don't know if the -4 malus need to be taken into account
[dice=Spellcraft check]1d20+7, add -4 for the malus.
Realizing the nature of the spell, Raven grimly smiles at the goblin's stupidity.
:)

Strangely unharmed by the spell, Raven targets the Ogre with another blow of his blade.
[dice=2H attack with flanking]1d20+4+2+1, [dice=damage]1d10+6+1
Jumping high in the air, almost like his avian namesake, Raven strikes with his black blade, cleaving the ogre's skull in half and splashing the deformed mass that served as the degenerated monster's brain all over himself.
Covered in gore and blood, arcane warrior touches the ground a mere moment before the gross body crashes next to him.

Marcus of Torm |

Marcus pales when he sees Kitao smacked around like a rag doll, and blinks with surprise when Raven's blade shears the Ogre's skull in two.
"Thought I was going to die there..." he mutters as he puts his morningstar and shield away and switches back to the bow. A difficult manoeuvre in any circumstance, and apparently doubly so when you're soaked with the blood of an ogre that only moments ago nearly killed a fellow traveler, for Marcus pulls the bow too tightly and snaps the bow string.
Shoot one of the goblins: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 1 = 3
Ooops I assume a snapped bowstring or something similarly bad happens on a 1
"... maybe I still will."

Marcus draws the bow, but the string snaps and his arrows fals harmlessly to the ground.

Anwyn Elghreah Larerthane |

Anwyn nods as Faerin regains consciousness and then checks the battlefield. Seeing the ogre drop along with the strange construct and foreigner causes her to smile grimly.
I hope I have access to my powers here in this world...
Stepping away from the ranger, she advances upon the goblin knife-wielder and stops just within optimal bow-shot range. i.e 30 feet. She then calls on the strange language of which only she can comprehend and stares at the goblin, her blood red eyes turning an eerie shade of purple.
Use Heroic Path (Raven Speech) ability to use Fascinate on the knife-wielding goblin. Will save DC 16 or be Facinated.

The goblin looks at Anwyn - and then simply stares at her numbly...

The goblin ducks beneath the arrow as it flies over his head and hisses something that must have been a curse - but of obscene rather than arcane kind.
Next round begins.
Looking at his bodyguard, the goblin spellcaster is obviously thorn between waking him from his stupor and running away.
Finally, he obviously decides that the saving his own hide is a better part of valor and turns away to run into the woods...
Those with ranged weapons or spells can still hit him.

Raven Snowborn |

Covered by the blood of the Ogre, Raven turn on his heels and charges towards the fascinated body-guard, his feet barely leaving prints.
As the goblin snaps back to awareness, Raven slices him in a devastating horizontal blow
Can charge on snow as I can move on it without penalties
charge attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 27, damage: 2d10 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (10, 9) + 12 + 2 = 33
Edited for the citical blow

With another savage blow, Raven decapitates the stunned goblin, spilling his blood on the trampled snow and adding it to the ogre's blood and brains on his clothes.
If you manage to kill the spellcaster as well, you get a Fate Point :)

Damn!!!!
Still somewhat disoriented, Faerin sends another arroew streaking ater the fleeing spell caster.
1d20+6
1d10
Faerin's arrow this time flies true and strikes the goblin between his shoulder blades, but it bounces off some invisible barrier not hurting the spell-caster in any way, so he continues to flee.

Marcus of Torm |

How long would restringing the bow take? Marcus will try to persue if practical.

Marcus of Torm |

Marcus methodicslly restrings his bow, keeping an eye on the direction the goblin ran off.

![]() |

All of you who want to attack with magic or ranged weapons, you have this round and the next before the goblin disappears into the woods.
Edit: to make things less complicated, the new round is NOW. Marcus has put a new string on his bow and he can take action, as well as the rest of you. Kitao is at -3. After this round, goblin is in the woods.

Marcus of Torm |

Marcus sees the fleeing goblin and thinks, 'best end this now if we can' and with a careful aim he looses an arrow.
Shoot the goblin, Fatigued: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 1 = 18Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Keeping his sword in on hand, Raven draws a javelin and sends it flying into the goblin.
[dice=javelin throw]1d20+3, [dice=damage]1d6+4
Carefully keeping an eye on the wounded goblin witch-doctor, Raven sends his javelin flying and takes the goblin straight between the shoulders, nailing him to a tree in front of him.
With a loud cry and what had to be a desperate curse, the witch-doctor dies.
Yeah, you can take that Fate Point for killing everyone. :)

Anwyn Elghreah Larerthane |

Anwyn shudders as the effects of her Raven Speech ebb from her eyes, leaving them their normal hue. As she looks over the clearing she sees the others quickly dispatch the fleeing goblin.
Shivering as the adrenalin stops flowing, she moves over to the unconscious warrior and proceed to tear strips of clothing from his cloak and wraps the wound tightly to prevent further blood loss.
Take 10 on Heal check to Stabilize Kitaro.

Marcus of Torm |

I don't think we have any magical healing, unless we leveled up. Perhaps a prayer to Torm might be unexpectedly answered?

You've managed to defeat the enemies who were obviously straining to attain the same goal as you, but now you find yourselves deep in the cold woods, and two of you are incapacitated - one possibly permanently.
Your map shows that you are close to the cottage you were seeking and some grunting sounds are coming from the large cage that the ogre was carrying.

Marcus of Torm |

Marcus hands back from the corpse of the goblin and stops in his tracks, "What's that? I heard something. Look over there in the cage... "
Warily he heads over to the cage to see what is within.

Raven Snowborn |

Sheltering his sword, Raven, jogs towards the impaled goblin. Setting his foot on the tree trunk, he grabs the javelin and pulls it out, letting the corpse slide down in a pool of frozen blood. Pocketing the bone item the goblin was using, he grabs the corpse by an ankle and drags back to the Ogre corpse.
Jogging back again, he repeats the feat with the beheaded goblin, bringing back the two knives as well.
Then he sets out to search the corpses for something that could be useful.
He will use detect magic to find magical items as well.

Removing the covering from the wooden cage, you see two persons inside. They are so filthy and their hair is long and mated that they were obviously long-time prisoners of the goblins and their ogre, probably used as food reserve. They seem to be in a bad shape, malnourished and in a stupor.

Raven Snowborn |

laying out his findings on his cloack, Raven tries to identify the items he has found:
Spellcraft for the wand: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Spellcraft for the 1st potion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Spellcraft for the 2nd potion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Spellcraft for the scroll-tube before trying to open it: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Spellcraft for the bone piercing: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Then, showing the iron amulet in the shape of horned skull to every one, he asks: "Any one knows what this symbol is?"

Marcus of Torm |

Marcus takes a disdainful look at the item.
Kn:Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Anwyn Elghreah Larerthane |

Anwyn looks over the unconscious samurai warrior making sure he has stabilized. She turns to Faerin and says in Sylvan.
As Raven looks over the items, her eye is drawn to the amulet held up by the paladin. She hisses and utters a vile oath. She then moves to grab the amulet from Marcus while exclaiming a vile curse in her native tongue.
After a second she calms down and says in Sylvan,

Marcus of Torm |

Taken aback by the strange Elf's reaction Marcus wonders would could arouse such anger, 'Must be something from home, wherever that is. Something bad.'

This will take some time, but now that the enemies are defeated, you have more than enough. And you scored critical success on the wand.

"Yes a symbol of one she refers to as "The Dark One". She suggests we burn the corpes to be safe from those that might follow."
The ranger begins putting together a litter of branches to aid in carrying the wounded swordsman.
