Marcus of Torm wrote:

I'm not 100% sure who Marcus is in melee with, although I assume its the Ogre!

The ogre lumbers towards Marcus and Kitao and Raven move to intercept it. With a practiced manoeuvre, Marcus puts his bow back over his shoulder and in the same motion he draws his Morningstar and Shield. He steps in and starts cautiously circling the Ogre, prodding here and there but finding no opening.

[dice=Attack with Morningstar, Fatigue, Smite, Flank, Fighting Defensively]1d20+3-1+3+2-4[Dice=Damage]1d8+2-1+1

Move action: put away bow and move to flank with Kitao
Free action: Draw shield + morningstar
Standard action: Attack defensively
AC vs ogre: 17 -1 (fatigue) +3 (smite) +2 (shield) +2 (fighting defensively) = 23

Paladin courageously attacks, but his morning star gets tangled into bones and skulls that are clamoring and racketing while the ogre turns in a tight circle, trying to keep all of his enemies in sight.

Dark Archive

Anwyn, you are too far from the ogre to attack him in the melee, so and even further from the goblins. Your options are either to wake up Faerin or to use some of your abilities.

Anwyn curses softly under her breath as Faerin is overtaken by the spell. She eyes the goblin mage carefully as she bends down to rouse Faerin from the magic-induced slumber.

Dark Archive

Kitao, then ogre.

Dark Archive

Rolling for Kitao

The samurai goes straight for the ogre, brandishing his katana in both hands...

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 111d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

...but his thin and sharp blade futilely bounces off the rib cages sewn into bear hides.

Dark Archive

Enraged by its wounds, degenerated monster savagely howls and raises both of its club-like hands high towards the pale sky before striking at the samurai with both of them.

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 201d6 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 211d6 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

The ogre strikes with both hands, pummeling the noble samurai beyond what his body can bear and remain standing. Bones shatter and Kitao looses consciousness falling to the ground while the blood pours from his mouth.

Kitao was dealt 20 point of damage. His damage reduction makes that 18. He had 12 hp and 5 temp. points that he got as a bonus for his critical success roll on the Fort. save. That means he's at -1 hp now. In my games you are unconscious when you reach 0 hp. While you are at negative hp, you bleed 1 hp per round until your wounds are bandaged or you are given magical healing.

Dark Archive

Next round. Goblins act first, ogre last. Faerin is up from her slumber.

Wand-wielding goblin points his free hand at Raven and hisses something on an unknown but foul sounding language...

Raven, please roll Will save...

Edit: DC 18 or suffer -4 penalty on attack rolls, saves, ability checks, and skill checks.

Raven also tries to identify the spell as it is cast. I don't know if the -4 malus need to be taken into account

It's not. But I've made a mistake. Goblin was casting a Bestow Curse, which requires touch attack and I forgot that. So, he just wasted a spell. You are not affected by anything and you may act either against the ogre or if you decide to go for the goblins spend a round to do so. If you decide that, it is pretty obvious that the knife goblin is prepared to attack anyone who approaches the caster.

Strangely unharmed by the spell, Raven targets the Ogre with another blow of his blade.

The goblin's spell was Bestow Curse, but the caster seemingly forgot that it can work over distances.

Realizing the nature of the spell, Raven grimly smiles at the goblin's stupidity.

Jumping high in the air, almost like his avian namesake, Raven strikes with his black blade, cleaving the ogre's skull in half and splashing the deformed mass that served as the degenerated monster's brain all over himself.

Covered in gore and blood, arcane warrior touches the ground a mere moment before the gross body crashes next to him.

Marcus pales when he sees Kitao smacked around like a rag doll, and blinks with surprise when Raven's blade shears the Ogre's skull in two.

"Thought I was going to die there..." he mutters as he puts his morningstar and shield away and switches back to the bow. A difficult manoeuvre in any circumstance, and apparently doubly so when you're soaked with the blood of an ogre that only moments ago nearly killed a fellow traveler, for Marcus pulls the bow too tightly and snaps the bow string.

Shoot one of the goblins: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 1 = 3
Ooops I assume a snapped bowstring or something similarly bad happens on a 1

Anwyn nods as Faerin regains consciousness and then checks the battlefield. Seeing the ogre drop along with the strange construct and foreigner causes her to smile grimly.

I hope I have access to my powers here in this world...

Stepping away from the ranger, she advances upon the goblin knife-wielder and stops just within optimal bow-shot range. i.e 30 feet. She then calls on the strange language of which only she can comprehend and stares at the goblin, her blood red eyes turning an eerie shade of purple.

Use Heroic Path (Raven Speech) ability to use Fascinate on the knife-wielding goblin. Will save DC 16 or be Facinated.

The goblin looks at Anwyn - and then simply stares at her numbly...

Female Human Ranger (Spell-less)

As Anwyn wakes her, Faerin picks up her bow, trying to shake the fog from her mind as she fires on the spell caster again.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
1d10 ⇒ 2

Dark Archive

The goblin ducks beneath the arrow as it flies over his head and hisses something that must have been a curse - but of obscene rather than arcane kind.

Next round begins.

Looking at his bodyguard, the goblin spellcaster is obviously thorn between waking him from his stupor and running away.

Finally, he obviously decides that the saving his own hide is a better part of valor and turns away to run into the woods...

Those with ranged weapons or spells can still hit him.

Faerin's arrow this time flies true and strikes the goblin between his shoulder blades, but it bounces off some invisible barrier not hurting the spell-caster in any way, so he continues to flee.

Dark Archive

You can try to chase the goblin or you can track him later. The forest is covered in snow, so the tracks are pretty easy to find. The goblin is slower than most of you, though, but be aware that he probably has more magic at his disposal.

Carefully keeping an eye on the wounded goblin witch-doctor, Raven sends his javelin flying and takes the goblin straight between the shoulders, nailing him to a tree in front of him.

With a loud cry and what had to be a desperate curse, the witch-doctor dies.

Yeah, you can take that Fate Point for killing everyone. :)

Anwyn shudders as the effects of her Raven Speech ebb from her eyes, leaving them their normal hue. As she looks over the clearing she sees the others quickly dispatch the fleeing goblin.

Shivering as the adrenalin stops flowing, she moves over to the unconscious warrior and proceed to tear strips of clothing from his cloak and wraps the wound tightly to prevent further blood loss.

Well, this encounter was about 3000 xp divided to 5 of you. So, no leveling just now. :)

You've managed to defeat the enemies who were obviously straining to attain the same goal as you, but now you find yourselves deep in the cold woods, and two of you are incapacitated - one possibly permanently.

Pocketing the bone item the goblin was using, he grabs the corpse by an ankle and drags back to the Ogre corpse.
Jogging back again, he repeats the feat with the beheaded goblin, bringing back the two knives as well.

Then he sets out to search the corpses for something that could be useful.

He will use detect magic to find magical items as well.

Removing the covering from the wooden cage, you see two persons inside. They are so filthy and their hair is long and mated that they were obviously long-time prisoners of the goblins and their ogre, probably used as food reserve. They seem to be in a bad shape, malnourished and in a stupor.

Raven:
Now that you have the opportunity to take a closer look, you can see that the goblin's wand was made out of bleached human finger bones somehow glued together to form an evil-looking crooked thing, that strongly radiates magic. While searching the corpse, you've discovered two bottles of some viscous green liquid that have weak magical auras, as well as rather nice scroll-tube made out of polished wood and reinforced with iron bands. The lid has some kind of a dial with seven-pointed star on it think siehedron, and semi-precious stones of various hues above each of seven points.

The other goblin is strange one. His nose is at least half feet long and very pointy. The only magical thing about him is another human finger bone that protrudes from his nose like some kind of morbid piercing. The only other interesting thing is an iron amulet in the shape of horned skull that he wears around his neck.

Sylvan:

This will take some time, but now that the enemies are defeated, you have more than enough. And you scored critical success on the wand.

Raven:
As you handle the things in front of you, you get to feel their auras and sense their powers. Certainly the most powerful item is the wand. You can see that it was well crafted and finger bones from which it was made aligned intentionally to form a slightly crooked line, almost like a shape of some tree branch. The wand serves as focus for a witch to cast her hexes. It is made for those witches who do not have familiars, but instead bond with the objects. Therefore, the goblin was a witch and he had a patron who gifted him with that wand. Then you proceed to potions. Both of those are potions of healing, but made with goblins in mind, so they may have some small side-effects on other races. You can not determine the properties of the scroll case, except that the dial with the star is some kind of combination lock that needs to be turned in specific sequence to open. But the star is siehedron - a symbol of mighty mages from the world of Golarion, as far as you can remember. It certainly does not belong on Faerun. The bone piercing is the most curious item of all. It is of the same make as the wand and it seems to work only if it penetrates the wearer's body. It allows instant transport to the distance of up to 30 feet once per round, using either move action or five foot step action to activate it. You can not both use it and move after that. It is pretty much obvious to you that not all of these items were made on the same world.

Female Human Ranger (Spell-less)

"Yes a symbol of one she refers to as "The Dark One". She suggests we burn the corpes to be safe from those that might follow."

Anwyn:
"Yes I should be able to find something."

The ranger begins putting together a litter of branches to aid in carrying the wounded swordsman.
