Alexandyr Sindre |

Alex chuckles, sidestepping the crazed undead's rain of blows. "Well you're just one poor sod, aren't you!" His answer to the strikes is one deep to the torso, working to skewer it through.

Grimgisli |

"Any more of these things about? No? Then let's get back to finding out what we can."
While he's talking, he's checking on the state of his fired arrows. The one embedded in a zombie is obviously not salvageable. The one which skittered off of the zombie seems to have broken against the carriage frame. No recoverable ammunition.

Odd is reusable: 1d2 ⇒ 2

Caldrian Mier |

"Hah, poor creatures never stood a chance - did they."
Caldrian takes a piece of cloth from his pocket, wipes off his Rapier and sheathes it.
"Maybe there's something else in the carriage? I'll take a look, can't see any more of those dead guys anyway."
Caldrian takes a peak inside the carriage, then casts Detect Magic to see if he can locate any magical auras inside.

I will allow a 20 jeez you guys only needed a 15. And Mier nope no magic. Sorry got handed my baby niece and well you guys are awesome but but not that awesome lol.
You find in the clearing.
Three courtiers oufits
A jewelry box with Tessica's coat of arms on it. Inside is
Tessica's signet ring.
Pair of sliver earrings
Pearl inlaid bracelet set
Assorted necklaces
One sapphire pendant
On captain odenkirk's pieces
A masterwork longsword
Masterwork breastplate bearing Tessica's arms and the rank insignia of a personal guard Capitan
And last tracks leading deeper into the woods.

Alexandyr Sindre |

Alex grimaces at the series of finds.
"Well, that's...wonderful. We find a signet but no actual person. And the guard Captain's things."
He smirks. "Nice sword of his, though. Might as well enjoy our finds."

Caldrian Mier |

"I'd rather stick to the captain here." Caldrian pets the hilt of his rapier. "A piece of the profit we get from selling these items would be welcome, on the other hand. But let us not tarry, we should bag the findings and head off after those tracks you found."
Caldrian wanders off following the tracks, sticking to those shadows he can find.

Dorvren |

Shouldve waited and I could have warn the breastplate lol.
Well if we find her alive then she will probably want her jewelry back. Is anyone able to use that Breastplate and sword? Might as well use them now and sell them later.
Dorvren takes the time to refill his clip.
is anyone keeping track of the loot. I REALLY dont want to since I am already doing it in another game.

They left tracks a blind bull on a rampage could easily follow Dorvren.
As the trail fully enters the icebound woods it passes through a small snowy clearing. There amongst the trees on the farside of the glen is a chest have buried in the snow it appears from a distance to have been abandoned to the snow. The trail continues past it up a hill and out of sight the tracks lead that way also.

Grimgisli |

I guess I can track the haul in another spoiler on my profile. I'm usually not a paperwork guy, though. Not while I'm playing.
"Do you want me to check out the chest? It isn't likely to be trapped, but it might be secured." The hunter points at the chest in the snow, not getting any closer to it than anyone else already has.
For simplicity's sake if the consensus is yes, let em go ahead and post a Trapfinding Perception roll . . .. Insert the use of it IF the group seems to indicate they want me to. I'll spoiler it so people can make a choice before they know what the roll, is, too.
Heh. Hope my assumption that it is unlikely to be trapped proves accurate!

Dorvren |

Yes let's open it.
well the hope was that someone would not mind doing it but thanks. Since I am also managing the maps I did not want that as well

Stolen Face |

Well if we find her alive then she will probably want her jewelry back.
Yes she will. But I am sure the Lady will be generous when you people return it to her. Stolen Face picks up Tessica's signet ring and his own fallen spear before going forward.
At the snowy clearing he readies his spear against any unseen danger.
Be carefull.
I could put the masterwork breastplace to good use but I dont think Face would stop to defroze the corpse while Lady Tessica is still missing. Maybe on the way back.

Dorvren |

Grim is opening the box
up to you about the breastplate. Honestly I would think a torch would melt the ice pretty quickly, unless the ice is REALLY thick. I would say let stolen wear it.

Dorvren |

do you have a map you want me to put up, that would make the marching order obvious. I will be in the middle i suppose, unless i am doing the tracking and i will be in the front.
It wont take long to get that armor folks. If it keeps one of us alive it is worth taking 5 minutes to get. I am armored so in the end I do not care. But if we are dead we will not help her much. But you all can decide what you want to do.

![]() |

As Grim checks the chest over he finds nothing so he begins to open it. As he does so you all see a rope pulled taught and hear a loud creaking behind you all. As Morrigan and Alex watch a spiked log swings down over their heads the trees its tied to creaking and groaning protest.
It slams into everyine but Stolen Face who drops to the ground warned by some sixth sense of impending doom. Everyone else is hammered off their feet.

Grimgisli |

Hey! A 29 misses me! Oh, wait. Not buying that, are you? Drek. Dorvren certainly got the worst of it, though.
Grimgisli lets a short stream of obscenities flow, before turning back to the group. "I'm sorry about that. Shouldn't have missed something that big. Everybody reasonably okay? Dorvren? Hey! Dorvren!"

Aldiran Teldessar |

Even with her shield protecting her Aldiran is hit hard by the swinging contraption.
Status: 5/11 hp
OUCH -> So... Lesson learned. Chests, look for traps. Check.
And now for my next question -> We actually have no pure healer... Correct?
Standing up, and shaking the snow from her hair, she notices Dorvren fallen down right next to her and kneels down beside him.
"He'll live" - she whispers, and then a string of melodic words leave her mouth, as she gently lays her hand on his forehead.

Dorvren |

Dorvren looks terrible.
Thanks

.Morrigan |

Careful to stay out of the way of the swinging log, Morrigan rushes towards the injured and helps pull them to safety. "Seems we will need to be more wary. These appear to be devious and resourceful foes."

Well, I seem to remember the descriptive text saying the deadfall was released AS the lid flipped back. Maybe I misinterpreted "As Grigisli begins to open it", though. Yes that was paraphrased to handle the otherwise indefinite pronouns.
So, yeah, I say finish verifying we just got our butts wiped for an empty chest.

![]() |

Dorvren quickly sees that though the chest is empty there appears to be things beneath it. With the chest lifted out of the way you find
five sets of leather armor,
three sets of studded leather armor,
a masterwork chain shirt,
two light wooden shields,
seven longswords,
two spears,
a masterwork dagger,
and three light crossbows with a total of 25 bolts.

Caldrian Mier |

Barely managing to get back on his feet, Caldrian moves slowly towards Dorvren and the treasure chest, obviously hurt quite bad.
"Quite the discovery you made there, Dorvren. Perhaps some of these items are magical?" He weaves his hands slightly, before releasing a small surge of magical energy - attempting to find any magical auras. Cast Detect Magic
"Perhaps, if I may be so inclined, the chain shirt could come to be of my possession? It would most certainly increase my chances of survival - and thus improving our group's chance of survival. Agreed?"
If anyone has a better use for the chain shirt, Caldrian will take one of the studded leather armors instead.
@Grim, I see your Drek and raise you a Wiz, sir!

Aldiran Teldessar |

Nodding at Dorvren, Aldiran answers - "You are welcome"
Overlooking the gear filled chest, she comments - "I am not sure how much of this gear will be reclaimed later on - it would fetch good money back in town, but I guess it should wait. As for wearing it, I really think we should make the best use of it"
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Afterwords, the girl takes a double look at the contraption that hit them, and turns to Grimgisli - "This was a devious one, and well planned no?"

Dorvren |

No objection here. I am sure everyone has better use for that than I do. I could use the dagger if a Zombie closes on me, but that is about it.
Cal or SF prob make the best use of th eChainshirt. anyone else have a need? Otherwise throw it in the to be sold pile.

Grimgisli |

Grimgisli looks over the goods hidden under the chest, and then shrugs, moving aside so that everyone else can get a look and lay claim to anything they think they can use.
As Aldiran comments about the deadfall, Grimgisli snorts. "It was the only thing that matters: effective. I really should have seen the rope. No excuse."

Alexandyr Sindre |

The dagger could be good for a slashing weapon for Alex, since all he has is piercing
The rapscallion smiles and looks over the dagger, lifting it to the light. "A nicely balanced weapon. It definitely has peeked my interest."

Dorvren |

Same reason Dorvren took it, but you are melee
Dorvren pulls the blade from his belt and flips it, catching it by the blade and holding it out for Alex.
Just make sure you kill something with it.

Stolen Face |

Getting up from the floor Stolen Face heals himself and Caldrian.
CLW SF: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW Caldrian: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Nope, I can heal but we dont have a dedicated healer. No one with channel. Also I have no interest in the chainshirt.
Insted of a one person line could we do a two person by roll line?

Caldrian Mier |

"Much obliged, I feel a lot better now. Remind me to settle my debt to you in the future."
Caldrian spends a few moments to don the Chain Shirt, making sure it is properly fastened and secure. He nods to himself once he is done doing so, appearing to be quite pleased with the fit.
"You can take this armor out of my cut, would only be fair. Perhaps we should continue, I fear staying idle in a place like this would grant us little in the long run."

Stolen Face |

No problem. SF nods to Caldrian.
I have 2 more spells today. I was planning on saving them. But if anyone else fells they are too hurt I can spend more. With a group this big it may be worth it to have more people with heals memorized in the future. I wont be able to keep up with AoE dmgs.

![]() |

Don't sweat the healing to much for now I have a few things up my sleeve sir... and now time to move on.....
As you journey deeper into the now frozen border woods it grows colder and the snows deeper. After a bit you begin to see deep drifts of snow in the sky a head of you occurs a bkue pulse and snow begins to fall as does the temperature. You reach a ridge and the path travels down into a windswept gully. A soft cascade of snow from a branch over head hisses as it hits the ground....
Perecption checks please and knowledge checks for those who wish to make them.... perception will be revealed next post.
The pulses must have a source ahead and are making it colder closer and they could be a problem.
Those of you without cold weather gear will be in danger from the cold soon.
