you check, the key will unlock the door. checking it for traps you turn the key and open it.
This long corridor is flanked by a row of human statues, set
into alcoves on each side. The statues look like Kassen, and
each one holds a longsword out in front of it. The blades of
roughly half the statues are wrapped in leather padding.
the room looks empty. with a door at the end of the hall.

"Brave? Of course I'm brave, why should I be afraid of some statues?"
Despite his statement, Vanovar looks at the statues intently, expecting some kind of trouble.
"Though those wrappings do look mighty suspicious. They wouldn't wrap them up if they weren't dangerous, I'd say."
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

![]() |

"Its probably one of those 'educational' traps again. Meant to teach, not really hurt. Like the pit traps with the pillows and the blunt arrows."
"I think so too, so who wants to be 'educated'?"

![]() |

I would have preferred that they wrapped up the shadow. But maybe they did.
If you walk on one side, the other side can't reach you. Maybe if you crawl, you can stay under their swing?

![]() |

Since nobody seems keen to walk into what everyone assume will end badly... if we assume it's a trap and not animated statues..how about we just smash/sunder the swords before we walk in between them? Stone has like hardness 8, ..so in theory we should be able to damage the statues with some clubs if someone with high strength wields it in two-hands, sure we'd take a lot of time and break a bunch of clubs..but other then just walking in there and hoping for the best..I got no better plan...unless we want to build some sort of siege engine out of doors, one door on each side, some sturdy beams in between..then lift it forward between the statues and hope they can't smash through the wood of the doors
Unless Vanovar spotted the trigger with his perception check and we can just avoid it ;)

Let the champion of bravery take it, Venja says, with a wavering voice, Lord of Liver Damage, guide us!
Venja creates an illusory double of himself, hoping to finally fool something that is not living, then moves into the room.
Move: copycat, move: move

Goat Master |

vanovar looks with a glance, sure nothing could be there, but sure enough, he sees a pressure plate between a pair of statues. The wrapping on first four statues dulls the blades a bit, but the other four look pretty sharp and dangerous. you have some idea of what that pressure plate will do when triggered...
marking it on the map with a T, and moving you up to it ( at a 10 ft distance )
ps. smashing traps to deactivate them can work, but i usually treat them as unskilled attempts at Disable Device so, its likely that without enough precautions, the trap will go off and possibly still harm someone.

![]() |

"Okay, I think I see a pressure plate that might activate it, but I don't know if it triggers all of them, or just the one I'm in front of. Venja seems willing to volunteer, so I'll gladly leave it to him."

Goat Master |

sure, just let me know where you're standing if you're in the room still. Venja will walk down the hall and trigger the pressure plate?

Goat Master |

Venja plods forward.
attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 231d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
since its all characters in an area that get an attack on them, not just one, going to say both you and your image are attacked, or that an illusion/phantasm has no effect on a trap since it has no mind too fool.
it slices and dices for 4 damage, the blades of the statues, of all the statues, chopping down, slicing the space before them. the blades forming a razor sharp obstruction as the deadly blades remain down, blocking the way.
Venja's choice if he squishes forward or backward to avoid the blades. they're a DC 10 acrobatics or escape artist check to carefully navigate over or around...

Goat Master |

anyone not make a dc 10, taking 10, if you disarmor and take your time ?

![]() |

Hmm, suddenly the blades are sharp and there's a pressure plate? I think on either of those pieces of information Venja would have stopped. Not going to ask for a retcon, but I wouldn't mind a bit more control.
Venja moves into the narrow part just before the next set of statues, and waits there, having seen enough heroics for the day.
So moves on

If I can throw a Guidance on myself, I'll just make it with armour. Masterwork breastplate is -3, DEX of +2, and Guidance means I hit 0 exactly.
Vanovar looks at the statues in front of him, shrugs, casts a spell on himself, then starts clambering on/around the statues, muttering, "Stupid traps, I'm not taking my armour off for anything. You should face danger armed and armoured, not completely helpless..."
Inner Sea Gods says followers of Gorum don't like removing their armour, so just imagine a small man in breastplate squeezing past the obstacles. :P

Goat Master |

oh so its just a brave face when you think its an empty corridor, but can't face his danger head on... i see... just wanted to bypass the trap himself, not walk into it because he was bold ;)

![]() |

Hey, I never said I was brave, I just have a loud mouth. :P
"What? You need Guidance as well? Darn it, couldn't you have said so sooner? I'm all the way across the hallway by now."
Vanovar sighs, casts Guidance on himself, clambers back, casts Guidance on Omorose and himself, then goes back again.

Goat Master |

cyrixs looks like he breaks even at 10, venja has a -4/+1, rowanne seems to even out with a -3/+3. so venja can try and avoid damage around the last barrier if he'd like

Goat Master |

1d4 ⇒ 4
you nick an artery on the way down. but they get the bleeding under control, and you'll live.

![]() |

"Hey Venja, come on over here, you took quite some damage. Let me heal you up a bit. And thanks for biting that bullet for me, heh."
Take 5 on CLW twice to cure Venja for 10 HP.

checking the door, you are able to open it safely. leading to the next room. One half of this lofty chamber has a lowered floor, with stairs on either side to reach the bottom. Standing opposite the door is a tall wooden statue of Kassen grasping a gigantic wooden shield in each hand. One of the shields is inscribed with the word "Home", while the other reads "Family".

![]() |

"The god of homelyness and family, that's Erastil right? I don't know if that matters, but for some reason those shields remind me of the God of the hunt. Still, showing the thing we are on our quest for fire seems like a good idea. Who's got the lantern?"

![]() |

I have no idea what a cony is, according to the image search I did..it some sort of cartoon bunny?
"You want to offer it a pony? Doesn't seem like much of an offer for a god of the hunt.Maybe a deer or a bear or something..even a boar, that's seems more appropriate. Let's try the lantern first..if that doesn't do anything we can always go some where else or try something different."

You step up to the ledge and brandish the lantern. Nothing happens
