"Ta be fair most people would say most of our group are off there rockers."

Fathom turns and 'looks' to Karkalla,

"Dis man servant? Was him all burned an' de like? As if him spend too much time, before de sun?" She asks.

"As for me disappearin' before der be murder an' mayhem on board de ship, it be because dis man-servant lured me into de ocean an' den attack me wit' a glowing sword of power." Fathom explains,

"Though, I not be sure why you be callin' Avner 'man servant'." Fathom raises an eyebrow, "Is des, perhaps, de nature of 'im preferences?" She asks, the look on her face showing that she finds some aspect of the conversation amusing.

If some one does throw Fathom's clothes and gear over board, she will do her best to catch the stuff before it gets wet and clammy on/by the kelp

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn glares at Fathom suspiciously. "Let me get this straight. You're saying you fell off the ship four days ago? And I suppose you just swam blindly in every direction until you found our ship? You'll pardon me if I find that hard to believe."

Fathom 'looks' back at Finn,

"I not be fallin' from de ship. I was lured. I explain dis jus' a minute ago." She huffs, "As for being here? I be thrown 'ere by a storm. I be thinkin' you all be smart enough to jus find de place by you-self?" She smirks.

"As for what you believe? Well, I not be sayin' how much you have for de space in your head." She shrugs and 'looks' away, seeming to becoming bored with the conversation.

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn turns to Ardanto and Toxim. "I know little about the sea. Is what she's suggesting possible; that -- by some trick of fate or nature -- this area acts as a magnet that draws floating things to it? If not, then the more likely alternative is that she has been hiding on board ship the whole time..."

"An' dat comment show jus' how much space you have in you head..." She mutters as she dons her swords and silks. Looking to where the crew were attempting to remove/get at the kelp she calls out.

"You be needin' more den jus' axes an' t'ings 'ere! De weed aroun't you hull, it be taller dan a man in how t'ick it is. You need chains and grapple hooks, big cranes to lift de weed as you try to cut it." Walking over to Karkalla, Finn, Toxim and Guard she frowns.

"Yes, I have no-t'ing better to do, den hide aboard you lovely ship an' be stuck here in dis waste land wit you. I thought my arrival de first day show you how intune wit de sea I am?" She 'looks' at Finn

"Maybe dis one, 'e forget more den a few days past, hey?"

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

Toxim puts his hand up as a shield against Fathom. "Oh no lady. You can't come over here looking for allies. I vouched for your berth on the Wyvern because you can heal. I am not your confidant. You gotta win Finn over on your own. I can tell you from experience that it ain't easy, but it is possible with time. Speaking of which, we have little of it. Let's get moving. We can walk and talk if you like, but we're wasting daylight." Toxim heads toward the Rage.

GM

Amella seems non e to happy, but yells "Fine, toss e' trumpet er cloths, or somons cloths! An stop our staring! Back te wok' thar lot of ye!"

The crew start to leave the railing as someone tosses Fathom some clothing, not her own, but some cloths that do fit ..kinda. If asked by one of the falcons they will toss her the weapons she left behind, but only if told to do so. Avner and his warforged who have been standing on the deck look on. To the nobles amusement. "And here I was enjoying the show" he says with a chuckle as lirith toss some spare clothing to the naked elf.

Ardanto starts off quite harshly, but his tone drops towards the end as he decides to explain his comment and position.

"Yes, my friend, there is magic that can create storms. Although, to be honest, if she were powerful enough to cast it and wished us ill, she could likely have used other spells to just flat-out destroy us."

To Fathom's comment regarding Avner and his manservant, "Yes, it was Avner's servant, Grayson, who seems to have been behind most of the problems we've had. I'm not entirely unconvinced there aren't more aboard, however. I get the impression from your statements that the person who attacked you was Avner himself? Or rather, that they had Avner's appearance?"

Daurros chuckles a bit, and speaks so only Fathom and the Falcons can hear. "While I certainly wouldn't mind an excuse to imprison or execute that overstuffed scum, in this case, I fear he is likely innocent. We have strong evidence that our saboteur in the past has been able to take on the appearance of others, and quite convincingly. In fact the modus operandi seemed to be to try and lure someone away to a place of seclusion, as was attempted on Finn."

Daurros frowns as they make their way back to the other ship. "Perhaps it would make sense for one of us to keep a close eye on Avner, though. Grayson obviously had access to several mind seeds; just because we found two doesn't mean he didn't start with three or four, if you catch my meaning."

Karalla makes sure to ask for Fathom's weapons before she leaves. Once at the ship Karkalla has a quick look into the hole

GM

You make your way into the damp water filled hold of the rage. If it held cargo the weeds and water have long since claimed it as the floor and walls of the ship are covered with the wet damp weed. The ship lists a bit and you can tell only the weeds keep her afloat. The wood is soft and spongy beneath your feet as you move into the darkened room.

A doorway, its door laying smashed and rotting like the rest of the wood of the ship lays half submerged on the floor, lays to the read of the hold.

"Try the captains cabin first?" Karalla suggests

Fathom puts her arms through the sleeves of one shirt, simply tying the front closed. She sets her swords scabbards about herself and then simply ties a second, larger shirt about her waist as a simple skirt.

"Aye, a good idea. Maybe we find somet'ing here." Fathom turns her head, 'looking' all about, "Dis wood be so rotted, I don't t'ink it would ever burn." She adds

Fighter Level 9

"We are in the hold, normally the captains cabin would be off the main deck above us," Ardanto comments. "lets check this level out first, see if we can find any clue, we need to start thinking on a secondary plan as well, if that weed is as thick as the witch has said, we will run out of food before we cut the ship free."

Peering around in the gloom he asks "can we spread some magical light on the subject?"

He will happily head to the front of the ship if illumination is provided.

"Watch your step as well, no use turning an ankle on a rotten board."

"I be havin' ano'der suggestion?" Fathom speaks quietly, "Why don' people stop callen' me a 'Witch'?" As she 'looks' around, the darkness seeming no hindrance to her strange, pale orbs.

Perception:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 (Not-quite Dark-vision out to thirty feet. :P)

Fighter Level 9

Ardanto mutters, "if it barks and wags its tail I'll call it a dog..."

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

"Urol could probably figure out something for us to eat." After that, Toxim becomes sullen and quiet.

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

"The first priority is to kill this...whatever it is...that is going to send its children after us when it gets dark. Then we can worry about starving and name-calling and spies.

Any idea where it might be? One logical place would be close to the centre of this mass of seaweed. Or maybe Daurros could cast a flying spell and try to spot something from the air?"

GM

With a glance you do not see anything in this room. If you spent a few hours digging though the weeds and pulling apart sunken, rotten crates maybe you might find something. Although looking at the ship it is unlikely to be anything useful.

"Yes, that was a tactic I was considering. I still would like to see what we can find in this ship. A captain's log, or something similar. I'd prefer to see if we could gain some additional intelligence before we just start marching off. Although I agree with your logic about the center; that seems a logical course."

Fathom moves further into the room, poking and pulling at the sodden mess,

"De weeds look to be a big place. Jus' wanderin' off an' hopin' to find dat which may not want to be found....until de time when it is ready? Aye, lookin' for clues be de better soundin' t'ing."

you rolled a 27 before. You're not gonna find anything more in this room without Hours of searching.

Female Shifter Rogue 9

"Like I said give the captains cabin a try?" If no one disagrees Karkalla will head there and start to search

Perception

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

*Bows* Sorry, I misunderstood. Though the first was just as simple 'Is anything going to eat us' roll and the second was for the poke around.

Fathom nods at Karkalla's suggestion and follows the other woman, quietly sliding one of her falcatas free of its sheaf as the group moves into unexplored territory.

GM

Karkalla sees a journal sitting on a leaning desks edge. As soon as she enters the rooms the buckling floor trembles sending the book splashing into the water and though the broken floor to rest five feet below the ship on the sargaoss itself. It is unlikely the book will be readable much longer.

Fathom steps forwards cautiously and leans over to look down,

"I ken get down wit a splash an' I have some power dat will maybe fix some of de book, but I t'ink a cleverer way of retrieving' de book be what called for." She looks over her shoulder as she moves to one side and clears the way for others to come closer.

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn says "Stand back" as he casts Enlarge Person and then reaches in and picks up the book.

GM

As Finn enlarges, filling up most of this crapped cabin, the very weeds around you start to grab at you. Animating as if by magic to hold and entangle you.

Three large vines burst from the hole, spraying waters across the three inside the room as they strike out at Finn . But the agile monk avoids all three attacks as he grabs the book.

Everyone make a DC 13 reflex save. You are inside an entangle spell and will need to make one to move and one every round you stay inside of its range. This means at the start of and end of each round. Also to be clear the ship and well anywhere in the sargoss counts as difficult terrain. It is a big, wet, swampy mess. The water in the hold i a bit over ankle deep.

Here is the entangle spell for your convince

Fathom exclaims something in her native tongue, but her demeanour it is probably not a nice word. She sheaths her sword and dives forwards, into the hole and towards the book.

Ref Save:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Keeper:
Her water breathing spell should be good for many hours yet, as it lasts for 14 hours.

Do I be needin' a second roll to be gettin' de book?

GM

Just to let you know,in case it was not clear. The entangle is the whole of the ship and a good area beyond it as well.

Keeper:
Then the whole ship is about to get torn apart and Fathom is not going to be in the area of effect. *Bows* I don't need to know the total type of spell to make an educated guess as to what is happening/potentially going to happen. I believe the words are "Dive! Dive! Dive! Blow all tanks! Crash dive!" =) Shall post next rounds actions when the round comes. I do hope I got the book...

"What the..!" Toxim quicksteps to keep from being grabbed by the foliage. He steps back out of the hole to allow others to follow.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

I guess I already have the ring of Freedom of movement equiped, so I guess I don't need to save.
Snem is afloat, so I guess it doesn't affect him too.

Prepared as ever, Snem quickly reacts to the sudden danger, and let's loose a Soul blast at one of the vines:
Soul blast: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Guard is, for once, just about as fast as Snem and brings his warhammer up. He doesn't know if it might help any, but he relocates his essentia with a thought, then swings his hammer at the vine Snem just targeted:
+1 Good Incarnate Weapon: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17 damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

After swinging his weapon, Guard raises his shield a bit more, holding it out to cover Karkalla a bit.
Got your back and Saving shield feats, +3 AC for Karkalla

Essentia: 3 in Mantle of Flames, 1 in Incarnate Weapon.
AC 24.

Fighter Level 9

Ref: +2(class) +3(dex) = +5 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

It is only fun if some of us fail, but why is it always my character?

Ardanto watches as the others head off in a different direction, leaving him standing mostly alone. He grips his swords and watches them through the rotten opening as the book slips from view. He just about mutters "clumsy fu....." before it is interrupted by him uttering an even fouler swearword as the kelp winds around his legs holding him in place. He thrashes around trying to tear himself free watching with envy as the others evade the winding weeds.

Entangle Spell:

Spoiler:
This spell causes tall grass, weeds, and other plants to wrap around foes in the area of effect or those that enter the area. Creatures that fail their save gain the entangled condition. Creatures that make their save can move as normal, but those that remain in the area must save again at the end of your turn. Creatures that move into the area must save immediately. Those that fail must end their movement and gain the entangled condition. Entangled creatures can attempt to break free as a move action, making a Strength or Escape Artist check. The DC for this check is equal to the DC of the spell. The entire area of effect is considered difficult terrain while the effect lasts.

Entangled Condition:

Spoiler:
The character is ensnared. Being entangled impedes movement, but does not entirely prevent it unless the bonds are anchored to an immobile object or tethered by an opposing force. An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity. An entangled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) or lose the spell.

GM

Forward we go

Snem hovers over the others and blasts at one of the vines, As Guard moves past Fathom drawling attacks from the plants as he passes. Only one vine seems to hit Guard [ooc[9hp[/ooc] but seems unable to grab the warforged and is engulfed in blue flame as Guards hammer slams into it.

Ardanto curses as he is entangled and breaks free to move behind Fathom. Duarros seem to avoid the tangles his friend got caught up in and moves behind Karkalla to unleash fiery rays at two of the Vines. Only hitting with one but burning the plant. It gives off wet popping sounds as it burns, but is far from down.

Karkalla moves away from the room as Toxim steps out of the hold still in range of the spell however to allow the others a chance to flee. Fathom , unaffected so far by the grasping weeds runs toward the plans trying to dive into the hole. She manged to move past the plants but below the hold, the weeds are living things as well, trying to grab the elf. She can see however that Finn has the book in his hand.

The plants move to strike, hitting Finn8 hp Fathom 13 hp and you are garbed And Guard 12 hp The blue flames around Guard burn the vine attacking him to a crisp as under water Fathom is held by the vine 11 more hp

As you Ardanto never stated what he planned to do I made his str check to break free and his second save , which he passed. Everyone may post up for the next round as Finn takes his actions for this one.

Guard sees the success in his tactics and goes to circle around Finn, eager to get the vines to attack him while passing by, just so that they burn themselves when they hit him. move action to provoke attacks of Opportunity
In addition he raises his warhammer again, smashing it against one of the vines that hit him:

His wild blows connecting with the giant fronds stem with a satisfying thud.

I will also step more into the cabin after I attack.

round 1

Finn drops his spear to the wet floor and drops the book onto the desk as he sprouts claws and mauls the plant like a odd looking bear. The plant is sheared and Finn is left with a sour salty taste in his mouth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
With one plant left snem blasts it as Guard moves to finish it off, leaving it as pulp .The wees stop moving and are once more just weeds. Fathom, no longer in danger heals herself in the slimy water under the ship.

Sorry about that folks, many good rolls but you mauled em good last round. The one left had been burned and guard finished it off. Now what?

Look for another way out down here. Basically either find a way out through here or back up and out the 'front' door. *bows*

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"By the gods, what was that?" Guard asks, looking suspiciously at the plants, the face in front of his face frowning. After a thought he adds: "Should ... that not happen at night? I mean, it shouldn't, but ..."

He seems like he doesn't even notice the scratches and dents the vines left on his body/armor. At least, for now.

Female Shifter Rogue 9

Karkalla does her best to help Fathom out of the hole. "How's the book held up?" She asks Finn.
