Common: Cost 45 gp per month. You live in inns and eat tavern
meals every day, a practice that quickly grows to be moderately expensive.
This level of upkeep assumes the occasional night drinking in the
tavern or a nice glass of wine with dinner.

Hmm... good Idea, but I don't see that fit the warforged.

What I would need would be an upkeep for the stand in Mead Street and food and shelter for the two mules. Apart from that Guard would have a Meager upkeep.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Well it was never meant for races that don't eat normally. Warforged brake that mode really. How ever there is other things that might lead to this lifestyle.
*Collecting items[weapons, art, suits of armor books, statues and so on]
*Sounding ones self with fine things
*hiring workingmen /owning a real shop
*giving to charity/churches
*picking up the bill for party's or outings

There are many other things but I will allow half cost for any life style chosen for a warforged pc if they have no real other costs like item above.

The mules would be rolled in to any upkeep cost as they really are cheap animals to take care of.

If we have to pay right off the bat, I guess Daurros will be living with the "poor" level. Once he gets paid, though, it will likely rise to "common" or "good", depending on how well adventuring turns out :-) Most of his meals recently have been of the liquid variety, though ...

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

well everyone will be making 100 gp per month not including other things such as loot or profession skills or selling there spellcasting/item making services

Male Human Technician 17

Can we agree on 20 gp per month then?

Above poor, so that the mules have it good, but not up to common, on the ascetic side.

I would assume materials for the crafts are not included, but to be bought seperately?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

well we could lump it up to 45gp and say that covers every thing but very pricey things such as gem over a few gp and solid platinum suits or armor and such and such. A good inn/room or shop everything normally in common but metals and other things take place of the food. No need to keep track of normal items and such this way. may be even a worker of helper if you so wish.

Male Human Technician 17

I'm okay with that solution.

At least for the time being then, Daurros will stay at the 45gp level. In his case, his accomodations and meals may be a bit lower than the Good level may indicate, but his "tavern visits" are higher.

Ardanto will be in the same level as his friend for the moment, until they can move onto bigger and better things.

Finn is going to be living the poor life at 12 gp per month. :-)

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

hey all I got mixed up on the potion cost it's 50 gp as the book says

Fighter Level 9

Daurros brought up a valid point in the gaming thread, I don't want to be know as The Jade Ravens and "That other Group".

Anybody got any suggestions for a name?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

a name would be cool

Male Human Technician 17

We first would have to earn one, I think.

Marble Magpies
Chrysoberyl Crows
Granite Gulls
Alabaster Albatrosses
Millenium Falcons

EDIT: Actually, that last one is kind of catchy. How about "The Molybdenum Falcons"?

LOL, love these ... but you're right, "Millenium Falcons" IS catchy. If the direct name is too cheesy, maybe "Mithral Falcons" to sound a little tougher?

I got an Adamantine Body, maybe take that material?

On a more serious note, Finn would probably suggest something boringly descriptive like "Vanderboren's Company" or "Vanderboren's Reclaimers", if he thought we needed a name.

But "Millenium Falcons" is a nice counterpart to "Jade Ravens" because:

  • It's also cryptic.
  • It's also bird-themed.
  • It's also meaningless.
  • It makes me smile to read it (although it's less amusing each time you read it, like Homer's barbershop quartet group "The Be Sharps")

Agreed. And I may be wrong, but isn't it close to the year 1000? If so, it even fits quite well that way.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

yes it is 998 so close...we do lack a wookie however

Male Human Technician 17

Hey, I think Guard can fit the role... Though he is much more understandable.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

awww so no let the warforged win huh

seekerofshadowlight wrote:

As long as I don't have to wear the princess Leia gold bikini, I am happy with the name.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

awwwwwww no wooki and no bikini???? well we can put whisper in it and make guard wear a bear skin rug... first person that says i find your lack of faith disturbing may get forced lighting....or makes the breathing

On the other hand, we could get Guard gold-plated and make him speak with an English accent ... maybe get him a halfling-sized warforged as a cohort ...

Umm...

Should I be honored now?

And for the gold-plating thing: I think I am encumbered enough already... Or does that have a good DR? Or SR even?

Not really ... in fact, it could get you blown up and carried in pieces on the back of a large, furry thing. :-)

Are we waiting on Seeker or one of the other players for the next post in the game thread?

I'm ba-ack.

Just one thing about Detect magic. It is a level 0 spell and therefore you can cast it at will in Pathfinder Beta.

Yeah, I know. But Daurros doesn't have it prepared on this day because he has a feat that lets him use it as a spell-like ability 1/day (as well as prestidigitation and light - Knack for Magic). My assumption is that in his normal life, situations requiring detect magic wouldn't come up much, and so he doesn't normally prepare it in addition to his sla (actually, he usually doesn't prepare any of the cantrips he can use as sla's, since he hasn't had to use his magic much before this). Obviously, this may change as the adventure continues. :-)

And where's my poor excuse for manners? Welcome back, Oliver! Hope your vacation went well. (I know for me, with two young kids, I always feel like I need a vacation when I get back from vacation ... one of life's ironies, I guess!)

Did I ever mention that I hate puzzles? :-)

(Except for crossword puzzles. I love crossword puzzles of all kinds.)

Male Human Technician 17

Guard is not really of help here either.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

yay puzzles.

Hello Bryan and Wu-jen.

Welcome to our group. Holiday was near perfect (Austria is a travelworthy destination). But despite of the doldrums of being pressed into service again (i.e. work) I certainly look forward to spend some time with you here on this board.

Just a note: in my experience, trial and error puzzles take a lo-o-ong time in play-by-post (or play-by-email) games because of the delay (hours to days) between saying: Player "I try X." DM "It doesn't work." Player "I try Y." DM "It doesn't work." Player "I try Z." etc.
