"Markhet would like some meat for Larrs," the gnome says pulling out her sickle, "Larrs likes snake as well as lizard, he prefers gazelle, but Markhet can't see any of them around here."

For the record Markhet wanted to check each building they pass. I thought there were others that had shared this opinion. This slave market was behind us and if we'd been doing as I thought we would we would have found this snake before the harpy. I would just like to once again stress that this is what Markhet wants to do, and it seems like N'Djamena and Vrealk wanted to do the same. Hopefully we'll be doing this in the future.

Once they're done carving up the snake Markhet insists on delivering the head and exploring all the buildings behind them.

GM

Sorry meant to update yesterday, but had to dig up pipes in may yard..joy. You can butcher the snake no problem, it is a large snake, you can get 40 or 50 pounds real easy from it at lest. This will take time to butcher. Also I'll take note you will be exploring every building you find along the way. The snake seem to have nothing of value inside it or in this building. You have yet to see any patrols, so Back to the harpy...if ya want to do something before that we can recon it.

Undrella laughs her musical laughter as you return "So you have my snake, and you still live" She says with a smile "Come in, come in all you you. Standing in the open will only let them know you are here yes?" She says waving you inside.

The smell is not pleasant, but she is right, you are exposed outside. She happily takes the snake head, humming happily as she adds it to one of the many boiling cauldrons. She licks the blood from her fingers absently as she bids you enter "Well come in, have a seat, share a meal with me as we plot death" she says with a sensuous smile. There are not any chairs but there seems to be ample places to sit if you wish. 'Well handsome" she says to N'Djamerna "What can Undrella tell you, hummm. And are you willing to strike a deal for my help?" she says adding something to her stew pot, he wings fluttering absently as she talks.

Male Human Cleric 5

"If you propose a deal, madam, I'm sure we would carefully weigh your proposition," N'Djamena replies, choosing his words carefully.

Just a reminder -- our eventual goal is to clear out this place, yes?

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish coughs. "We have a deal already. Anything more from here we should be talking as allies and working towards friendship." She looks around for some where to sit, as well as for where to set aside the cuts of meat they carry.

"We thought of more than just your trophy. We carved more meat up so that the creature would not go to waste. Do you have any where to store the bounty? Some where cool, or some alchemy, perhaps?" she asks.

We clear out that which is lethal or truly vile, but we should always seek to make friends and allies to bolster our strength. *Bows*

GM

Yes reclaiming the town is the goal

"The deal you had, was if you brought me the head we would talk, we are talking are we not?" she says with a smile."Yes I can preserve the meat, snake is good meat. Wouldn't want to waste it now would we" She digs out rough wooden bowls and ladles some of the "stew" into them "Would you care to share a meal?" she says and hands a bowel to anyone who says yes, before crouching on her taloned feet and eating her soup near N'Djamerna

"I can help you in many ways" she says with a grin "I have keys to the battlemarket for instance. Which would allow you not not have to pose as smugglers or fight your way though the front door." she says sipping her stew from her bowl "I also know many things, and am not without..talents. What I ask is such a small price." she says.

"I have grown to like my little home her, the weather is dry and the hunting is good and it seems to keep bringing me attractive males. she says smiling at N'Djamena will talking in a very seductive tone " I would like to stay, if you agree to allow me to keep my home I will share what I know, along with the keys. And give you a place to hide, provided no one sees you enter. Do we have an accord?'

"We move the gnolls out and the bring humans in," Markhet says between spoon fulls of soup, "you don't have a problem with humans right? Not all are as handsome as N'Djamena, but Markhet thinks that they could bring peace and stability to this region. But Markhet thinks that Undrella would need to be on much better behavior living amongst humans then gnolls but Markhet also thinks that the new tenets would bring a much more lucrative and stable environment. Plus you and N'Djamena would be free to get married! Markhet will find the flowers for the bridal wreath!"

GM

"Humm, what oh so very interesting ideas you have little one" she says glancing with open lust at N'Djamena.'He does look very ..humm yummy doesn't he" she says with a laugh " I have long found the humans of this country..interesting . I have wears to trade, substances of..humm.. use. She says glancing toward Celena before going on " I think a stable trade town, with a working battle market, as I assume that is the goal. Would not be a bad thing for myself. Coin, a stable town guard and attractive males sounds very, very inviting.... and I'll try real hard not to eat anyone...to much" she says in her sing song tone smiling at Market.

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk takes an offered bowl, and even eats some. "Me has had some experience living with humans now. If you can keep from eating them, and offer them a valuable service, me thinks they will get used to you. Maybe never accepted, but at least not driven away.

"For instance, me was a very good exterminator of vermin. Some folks thought, 'Hmmm ... if he can kill bugs and snakes, maybe he can kill bigger things.' And so me was sent out here to kill the gnolls, and the pugs, and the other things that are not wanted. Since me did a good job, me has won my freedom."

Vrealk sets down his emptied bowl, and lights up a smoke on his pipe. "I guess me trying to say this: keep your end of the deal, and me thinks there not be problems. And I think this is the deal - you tell us what you know, and agree not to eat humans and other races that come to settle after the gnolls are gone (and us in this group), then we let you keep home. Is that what you propose?"

He looks around to the others. "Me thinks this is good deal. What do you all think?"

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish also partakes of the snake stew.

Fort Save:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Bluff:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18(Untrained)

And manages to at least swallow some with out making any horrible noises or faces. Demurely putting her bowl to one side (And well within reach of Larrs) she replies to Vrealks words.

"We are here to do more than just chase away Gnolls. We are here to establish something new in place of ruin and decay."

Diplomacy"1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

She looks honestly, openly and directly to Undrella even as she stretches forth a hand,

"We accept all who would wish to share equally in establishing such a place." And her arm sheaths in mystical ice as Ayish shows her elemental nature.

"We would accept all who would wish to build a future, not just kowtowing to what Humans would say."

Okay, so using her ability for a round might be a bit of a waste, but hopefully Undrella will appreciate the show of power etc and so Ayish might get bonuses to her diplomacy with the creature. *Bows*

"I don't think I've ever had snake before." Kelden eats some stew. "You can stay. Now, you mentioned having keys to the battlemarket and having useful talents."

GM

"I can live under your country's laws, they are much more open minded then most after all, and we have a deal...if that one" she says pointing to Celena"Swears I can stay in my home, I know of her goddess." she says sweetly

Celena looks up from her meal of snake stew "As far as I'm concernd you can stay."

GM

"Very well then" she says happily "We have an accord. And yes, I have the key, which I shall give you. As for my talents they are many.." she says giving N'Djamerna an appraising look "I have some skill at the alchemical arts as well as poison craft. And I know how to work the machine in the Battlemarket." She gets up and goes behind on of the many curtains, you can hear her rummaging though item till she comes back with two keys

"This one will open the northern door, and this one the cells. If anyone is left alive in those. The smugglers currently within the battlemarket, mostly human do not have a strong alliance with Kadaswan. So with promises to let them live or perhaps gifts they may stay out of this fight." she says. "Would you like to ask me anything else?"

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena eats a mouthful of soup, just to be polite.

"Madam, you have been more than helpful. May Nethys shower you with blessings!"

GM

Anything else you want to ask? If not whats the plan?

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

*Bows* Is not the pan to work our way back to the outer edge of the village/houses and begin searching our way towards the centre? I am happy to follow others and help as I can.

"Why is it called the Battlemarket and what machine is it that you know how to operate within it?"

GM

Undrella laughter is almost musical as she looks at Kelden with mirth "Just how long have you lived in katapesh" She chuckles, an almost bell like sound "The battlemarket is just what it says it is. A great indoor market with many stalls and an arena. Kadenswan has been using that arena to amuse the Gnolls of late while he watches from high above. As for the machine, I do not know what it is called, but it allows the distilling of potions among other things. It took me almost a year to master it's many leavers and workings. I would have moved it here to be safe, however it is far to heavy for me to move.'

Kelden blushes from embarrassment. He then turns to speak with the others."Well do we go in there bold as you like or more subtly? Perhaps we could look into freeing the prisoners. Some may wish to join in on our assault against the gnolls."

Male Human Cleric 5

"Maybe we need to disguise ourselves somehow, in case any of the gnolls we encountered before recognizes us. But I'm at a loss to know anything about disguises."

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

"And what should me be disguised as? Me thinks we should just sneak our way over there."

"The gnolls are to stupid to remember anything. The demon is another thing, though. Any disguise we have won't fool it. If it's attention is elsewhere, though, we could make our way in and have a good look around."

"Markhet could wear a mustache," the gnome says in her 'helpful' voice, "No would would recognize Markhet if she was wearing a mustache."

Female Gnome Paladin 5

"We should just storm the place" Celena prompts from where she is polishing her scimitar "We have a key we have a way in and we have the weapons to deal with the Demon so I see no reason to mess about."

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4
Celena Ashram wrote:

"Hmm. Friend-Celena, me doesn't think that's the best, but not bad, either. Maybe we do a little bit sneaking, little bit storming. If someone were to scout place first, and we knew where all the enemies were, then we could take them out one group at a time.

"But me thinks we should deal with demon first. Maybe some of us hide, then some of us draw it out. We attack quickly and kill it before it summons help."

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Even though Ayish's face shows her feelings of trepidation she nods at Vrealk's words.

"Yes...this goat, deamon...thing we must kill first." She nods to Undrella, "Again, thank you for your help, M'lady." She gives a polite half bow to the bird woman then lowers her head,

"Though, I must admit to having no wise words to add in way of help..." She says softly.

"Markhet isn't supper worried about the goat demon," the gnome says with unusual bravado, "Markhet and Larrs chased it off once before, then killed some gnolls, and then dealt with two of the three other demons it summoned. Markhet thinks that if we can find the demon by itself it will offer little resistance this time."

Male Human Cleric 5

"Well, hopefully we won't have to fight the smugglers as well. A demon is enough, I think. Vrealk, I'll try to sneak as best I can, but I'm really not very stealthy."

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

"Me knows, friend-N'Djamena. Me will stay out in front, and to draw out the demon, you don't need to be that sneaky."

Vrealk heads out towards the next building, keeping to the shadows.

Which way? Up the long curving road? or claiming or trying to clime one of the bluffs?

road

WE ARE EXPLORING ALL THE BUILDINGS ALONG THE WAY

GM

You make your way up the road, exploring any intact buildings along the way, keeping out of sight as much as you can. You find nothing but empty, well picked over building, but nearing the top of the hill you come to an intersection. Near the battlemarket and close to building with a well worn sign proclaiming it as "The Trade Alliance guildhall"

It is here that you firts hear the bellows and the demans once more attack, one lands on the guildhall roof, another in front of the group while the 3rd lands to the groups rear.

"Stay steady everyone. We've planned for this."
Kelden casts Shield from a scroll before moving into combat.

Female Gnome Paladin 5

Celena takes a ready action.

is there anyway to tell which one is the original one?

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena casts Bull's Strength on Celena. "We're all counting on you, holy warrior. May Nethys and Sarenrae strengthen your arm!"

GM

No, they all look very much alike to you.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

At the sight of the bestial foes again swarming to attack the party Ayish's face grows pale, but she takes a deep breath and raises her voice to help bolster her friends.

Bardic Inspire Courage

Perception:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Knowledge Roll:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6(They may all be 'similar' demons...they are NOT clones, however. One of these things is not like the other, which one is the 'leader'/'original'/Already here son of a b!tch.)

GM

Nope not clones, but look at it like you would cows or dogs. Throw two or 3 of the very same breed at you and you might be very hard pressed to tell which one attacked you. You had less then a minute to look, all look the same, have the same scars and markings, similar horns, the very same weapon and no clothing. They simply have nothing that stands out as "the boss" if that is what he is...also there should be four, you just see three here

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

I think Ayish can still talk while inspiring? I am not going to attempt an inspiring rhyming couplet...:P

"There are only three before us! The lead coward does not show itself." She frowns "Should we continue to fight, or withdraw?"

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Thought I was farther in front and trying to keep to the shadows; my post about a dozen back mentioned that ...

Vrealk fires a cold iron arrow from his shortbow at the closest demon.

short bow 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

GM

Ok gonna post for market at this time to keep us moving. I also moved vbrealk, forward to the shadows.

Celena readies herself as Larrs letting out a low growl as Markhet casts guidance upon him. Vrealk lets loos a cold iron arrow , digging deep into the back of one in the street. It lets out a howl and turns looking for its attacker. Kelden pulls a scroll from his belt casting it upon himself.
Ayish lifts her force in song, inspiring you all as N'DJamerna calls upon his god to give Celena strength.

With great howls the demons attack. The first leaps from the roof, slamming his horns into celena 20 hp and she slices a chunk of flesh from it as well.
The second charges Vrealk, but the goblin ducks out of the way and the mighty horns slam the wall.

The last charges Larrs, the lion tries to bit, but misses his attacker as the demon's powerful horns send the lion unmoving to the ground20hp

Vrealk will take a move action to put some distance between him and the demon (to move next to Kelden). He'll then turn and fire another cold iron arrow (you rolled the sneak attack for the last attack, right?)

No wonder Toxim missed the assassin on the Wyvern. He was here in the desert!! ;-D

Indeed I rolled SA, you hurt it pretty nice

Well looks like Markhet will need to stand from prone. She provokes AoO. Supposing she survives she will defend Larrs.
