yep, but ya know 1: most of yall do not know that and 2...he can summon once per day..sure not a big chance but ya know...just throwing though out there and all.

I just checked the main thread and came here.

I don't get how there are four demons again. What are the chances of him being able to summon 3 demons again? How did he know to summon the demons? Was he waiting in wait for us? How did they surround us? I'm sorry but I this feels like another unavoidable confrontation. Last time we were drawn into the fight because we were trying to rescue someone it turns out we couldn't possibly save and this time we're just surrounded out of the blue. I don't see how we could have avoided this scenario. Also I'm a bit upset that Larrs was taken out before I could do anything.

I'm really not sure I want to keep playing at this point. I'll post something tomorrow I guess, but right now I'm feeling really helpless and depressed with the situation. I don't feel like my input is making a difference in this game.

That summon ability only lasts for one hour btw

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

umm you guys went looking for em this time, you took a side quest just to get weapons for the very thing you are now doing...you went down the very visible streets..I asked. He saw ya, I rolled a summons roll.. and they attacked..I did not give them a surprise round, which I really could have.

I waited 24 hours or there about before taking your actions guy. Every one else had went and the post had been up about a full day. Yeah it sucks I rolled near max on the charges {twice even} and took larrs out. But eh it happens.

I dont fudge the dice, not for me and not for you. I let em fall where they will and sometimes that sucks, but that is the way it is. The fight is far from unwinnable.

If ya want to quite that is your right to do so.

My two cents: N'Djamena will give this fight the ol' college try, but if he dies, I probably won't make a new character.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I did make one mistake here,

i'll explain how I goofed later as it really does not matter at this point as it changes nothing. I am sorry you guys are not enjoying the game.

Grand Lodge

I'm enjoying it. The challenge helps to keep it entertaining.

Dax Thura wrote:

I like the level of challenge in our "Savage Tide" game better, frankly. And I like this game overall, but I have absolutely, positively no desire to fight this pack of demons three or more times in rapid succession.

Grand Lodge

Then let's do them in right here! Right now!
They may take our lives, but they can never take our freedom!
This is where we draw the line. From this point on we only go forward.
Never retreat! Never surrender!

Yup, that's what I was trying to say before. :-)

To be blunt maybe I should not have rolled summon, but eh I did and honestly do not think it is as big a deal as you guys seem to. You guys seem to pretty much run though everything, theses guys are tough but you all have weapons that can in fact hurt them.

As for the challenge of the thing, unless I add things, ya pretty much have gnolls..more gnolls and the odd and end here and there for this adventurer. But I'll work on it a bit.

And finally this whole argument is really Ironic with the information I have on this round really. My lucky rolls for near max damage on a charge, made it look worse for your guys then it is.

Thanks for the input however. I'll see what I can do with it.

The rolls have effectively removed Markhet from the fight however. She has no way of dealing damage to the monsters without Larrs. She has a magic sling but no cold iron so there's no way to beat the DR 5/cold iron, 1d3-2 even with a critical just isn't going to do it.

Now she has to defend Larrs until she can heal him. You basically took away my choices and then crippled my character. The only way Markhet can contribute in combat is by buffing Larrs. In the first round you took out Larrs. There is little for me to do except wait for the others to do things.

Casting barkskin on Larrs and having him charge is what my first move would have been BTW.

For the record I don't mind tough fights but what I hate is feeling helpless. I hate feeling like there's no choice. I hate being constantly surprised by monsters. Makes me feel like it's pointless to have put ranks in perception and stealth. I understand that you feel that we're having too easy a time at the game but I think you need to realize that we had some incredible rolls in the last encounter. Last time we fought it could have very easily been a TPK. With a few bad rolls here it still can be.

If Markhet dies I won't be making a new character. I have enjoyed this game for the most part but combat has been very painful. It always feels like we're fighting against impossible odds. I've never felt like we've been rolling over things, I feel like we always need to be extremely lucky to survive.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok gonna go though some things here

1: guy sorry you felt useless, but I waited a full day and held larrs actions, I just failed to hit with it. The demon could have done the damage either way I just didn't think you would charge as , well Larrs really could not hurt the things last time. I figed ya would keep him close and try to trip or something.

And to be honest if I had charged with him, you would still say you felt your options were taken away. And I understand feeling that way but I can't wait 2 days in combat for one guy to post when I gave everyone else 24 hours. It stalls combat, and stalls the game.

2: You guys said you wanted to hunt the demon, Hell I gave you weapons that could harm it just because you guys seemed so upset I got lucky on a roll and got 3 of em. Not wanting that to happen again I made sure ya guys had the means to deal with it. And you did.

3: I goofed in saying you guys could not tell who was hurt, as well you could tell. I used an older version of the notes when I looked.

4: The combat was not that hard, you had 3 foes most of you could hurt, with less then 40 HP each, vrealk took one to half HP alone in 2 rounds. The main one, who was always gonna attack celena till it or she was dead had 25 hp. No matter how you look at it the fight was less then 4 rounds unless you guys roll pure crap. And bad dice roll can get ya no matter what the odds.

Hell when this all started yesterday the fight was over....it had less had 4 hp, the fight was over. I got lucky on some attack rolls was all.

I goofed in reading what ya guys wanted. You went though all that trouble to get the weapons, and talked and talked and well talked about killing the demons I was gonna give ya guys a good fight so you would feel like ya went though all that trouble for a reason and beat the things at all odds. When really, it wasn't all that hard an encounter, it simply looked that way to you.

Grand Lodge

First I apologize for being rather quiet lately. My daughter is going through some stuff and it's throwing my life into a bit of turmoil.

Second, I agree with Seeker here. Perhaps you guys have forgotten that tomb we visited. It had weapons and gear for all of us that could effect these demons. As for how tough the fight promised to be well, sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you. I am in another of Seeker's games and I have found him to be an honest dm. He allows the dice to fall where they may yet gives the players the benefit of the doubt. Bottom line is I want some fights to be tough. This promised to be one of those fights, but we had prepared for it.

We made it through the fight. End of story, as far as I'm concerned.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Indeed, we all had weapons which could hurt the monsters. I just think folks felt over whelmed by them.

Still, the characters live and continue to learn.

Much cheers to very one and hope you are all getting along fine.

Note to all: I will be back in China next week for business (leaving Sunday and back Friday). During that time, it is unlikely I'll be able to post (I'll try, but last time if I wanted hotel internet I had to pay out of my own pocket - not gonna happen; I'm cheap). Please NPC me as needed.

I agree with hogarth. I do understand Seeker's point of view, I have been on that side of the DM's screen before, but I'm happy with how things turned out.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Eh over and done with guys. I am glad we did talk it out however, I just kinda misread you was all.

Head up though..some of these are nasty.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

If you guys decide to camp, go back to the harpies or head back to base, you are at a level up point. Just saying

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Maybe go back to the Harpy? At least there's still some snake stew on the fire. ;)

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk suddenly feels very tired ...

BTW, Seeker,I have taken to using your hit dice rolling method for my tabletop games. I think it rocks.

Ding!

How much time to do I have to learn/copy spells into my spell book?

It's from Iron Heroes, isn't it? (Maybe I'm misremembering.)

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

More or less, I did toy around with it before I knew of iron heroes but it is the very same one they used as well.

Welcome back, Seeker! Hope it wasn't anything too serious keeping you away ...

FYI, I'm in Illinois on business this week. Shouldn't have many issues posting, but just in case I do, you can DMPC me if necessary.

My posting may be nonexistent for the next day or two as we had to admit my son to the hospital (fever, vomiting, dehydration ... all the nasty stuff). Not sure when exactly I'll have time.

Posting here to avoid clustering up the game board

Since the rules are silent on whether smite evil applies to none-lethal attacks or not would Seeker have a problem with me trying to seek out a rules ruling for it?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Well I go with it doing damaging, it is a weapon used to put down the most wicked of foes. Not something that you use just anytime really.

I have no issue ifya want to go hunting for rules, but I do feel it is not within the sprite of the ability myself.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller
