15 Green Trog
13 Meghan
12 Dougal
12 Yellow Trog
12 Orange Trog
10 Silvio
9 Blue Trog
4 Cherry
2 Red Trog

Meghan uses more of her bardic magic to make the trogs believe Cherry is not even there. it remains to be seen if the magic works on these lizard-brained foes, but it did the last time to good effect.

Dougal brandishes his sword and steps to the center of the den, ready to fight if a foe approaches.

Orange and Yellow troglodytes botth close in on Dougal, one from each side. The cleric of Cayden has a second to get an attack in before each swings their own clubs at his head.

Yellow Trog club: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Orange Trog club, flanking: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Dougal can make his readied attack againsts either of the trogs. He takes 7hp dmg from Orange, if he doesn't incapacitate it on his turn. Silvio is up next. All the party needs DC 13 Fort saves vs the stench of each of the 4 remaining trogs. Failure makes you sickened again for 10 rounds.

Thanks for your patience through the long weekend. Should be back to normal routine for the time being.

Troglodyte Den - Round 1 - continued

Dougal's gorge rises as the now-familiar but still horrible stench of the troglodytes fills his nostrils. He can't help but miss his attack ass sickened as he feels.

Silvio also is overcome by the smell, but is still able to land a crushing blow with his book of Abadarian law, bruising one of the soft-skinned lizards. The accompanying shout puts a fright into the troglodyte victim.

Shaken, but still determined to defend its home, Blue Trog lashes out with all kinds of attacks on Silvio but none are able to penetrate the inquisitor's armor.

Looks like Cherry is up to continue Round 1.

Also sickened by the stench of the trogs, Cherry still moves into battle but this time the smell overpowers her, and her stabbing attack misses as her eyes tear up.

Red Trog moves to attack, swinging his heavy club at Dougal. The knotted wood smashes into the neck of the cleric, hurting him before he can fully recover from the last blow.

Fighting on despite the debilitating stench of the lizard-things, Orendel goes Poke-Bish with his spear and shield, but cannot land a telling blow with either.

The flapping of Green Trog's feet on the stone floor fade away but that one has gotten well and truly away by now.

Meghan is also up, sorry I forgot before.

Meghan looks around a bit and decides that tactically the best trog to take out first is the one just to Orendel's north (yellow): That should allow Dougal to reposition easily enough and lessen the trogs' future ability to flank the friends. Meghan attacks Yellow trog trying to get Dougal out of the messy tactical situation he's in currently, but the sickness caused by the trog's stench really gets to her this time, turning a hit into a miss.

Dougal tries to fight his way loose, and cannot make an effective attack either, and the trogs get of unharmed.

The two trogs on either side of Dougal look to whomp him again with their clubs. One whooshes by his jaw, just missing while the other catches him solidly in the back, causing the cleric to yelp in pain.

Dougal takes 5 more hp dmg, leaving him in single digits. Silvio is up now.

Meghan grits her teeth and tries to work through the discomfort she's again feeling courtesy of the stinky troglodytes. She takes a hack at the trog badly wounded by Orendel, hoping she can finish the thing off. Sickness continues to plague Meghan's swordsmanship, and while she has grand notions of saving Dougal, she cannot carry out any of those plans.

Dougal is still hemmed in on three sides by troglodytes, but rather than surrendering or retreating, he trusts in the faith of Cayden, and channels to heal, which restores a bit of his lost vitality, along with most all the heroes. It doesn't get him out of immediate jeopardy however.

Yellow Trog actually turns his attention to Orendel, who has just beaten and skewered it. The lizard-man thing swings its own crude weapon at the former soldier who evades it easily.

Orange Trog whips his club at the back of Dougal's head while the priest is calling for healing magic. The trog hits, but doesn't quite square it up and Dougal is dealt a glancing blow, and somehow stays in the fight.

Troglodyte Den - Round 4 - concluded

Cherry's acrobatic assaults continues as she spins into flanking position vs Red Troglodyte. She stabs him, and then Silvio rattles his brains with his holy book, and the Red Trog goes down, marked up another casulty.

End of Round 4

"Damned show-off!" Meg mutters under her breath as Cherry twirls in gracefully to score another hit, but then she grins a bit and the sorta-crazy look in her eyes returns as she steps up and tries to stab the last trog. Ooh...her blade hits flesh for a change!

Troglodyte Den - Round 5 - continued

Orendel continues to attack with both weapons, and this time the troglodyte blocks his shield, but cant's stop the tiger-fork which scratches his scaly hide, drawing a trickle of black blood.

Trying to act like a fighter, Meghan continues to attack the remaining victim despite the smell. This time, her attack is successful, even if the illness has weakened her a bit.

Dougal is up now.

Troglodyte Den - Round 5 - continued

Dougal takes the offensive and like the others, scores a hit, hurting the last troglodyte, but not finishing it.

Orange Trog starts backing towards the exit now that he is the only tribesman remaining. He takes a half-hearted swing at Dougal, and is a bit surprised when it lands, draining the cleric of all but his last few reserves of stamina.

I expect that either Cherry or Silvio can end this fight before Dougal goes down all the way. I have him at 3hp remaining.

Silvio just watches in awe as Cherry slips behind the last troglodyte and finishes it. You've a keen sense with that blade," he says, a nod to her efforts this battle.

Just a placeholder post as I assume Cherry got this.

Troglodyte Den - Round 5 - concluded

Cherry continues her onslaught against the smelly trogs. She spins away from an club attack, then lunges into a powerful attack that catches the remaining foe right in the throat. With a spurt of black blood, and a retching death rattle, the last troglodyte, hits the ground dead before he falls.

End of Combat

Looking about as the battle ends, you recall that one of the troglodytes ran off to the south early in the fight and has not returned. Just what it ran off to do is still in question.

Looking about the den, you see the detritus of tribal life among the low-intelligence humanoids. Strange hides serve as bedding, but when you examine them closer you can see the are from darkmantles. Empty wine bottles litter the floor, an odd site, but upon closer inspection you recognize the vineyard and vintage as being from the Gold Goblin's wine cellars -- some of you may recall the faint but foul stench of troglodytes when you first explored the cellar in the basement below the Goblin...While there is lots of litter and other items from trogloyte life here, there is nothing found of any extrinsic value.

This room really only has two entrances, the way you came in from the midden, and the way the fleeing Trog exited to the south.

Doing his best, and that isn't very much at this point, to avoid the spray of blood. Offering Cherry a tired and bloody smile, "Truly impressive."

Rubbing at his bruised shoulder, "I have very little left in me but one fled and I doubt leaving it would be wise."
