9 damage total
The door stands. Syeira doesn't notice anything other than splinters and flecks of metal flying off from the door her companions are thrashing.
Syeira Istrati |
Syeira gives a frustrated huff at Orendel's question, but when she answers, her tone is much softer than it was previously. "No. My magic is more suited to affecting the mind than the body. Perhaps in the future... But that does little to help us now."
Orendel Kellon |
"Arright, just thought I'd ask," Orendel replies as he takes another whack at the door.
Pollaxe Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Pollaxe Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Silvio Errico |
"You seem to be doing well enough on your own," says Silvio admiring the damage. He takes a bash in-between Orendel's swings.
Book: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14; Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Dougal Fairbairn |
Quietly standing behind the others and trying to see through the fog in his mind. Touch the door?
Stepping forward and making sure to be out of their way. "I want to try something but do not stop on my account." Glancing back at the others and grinning, "Just if one of you is going to hit me let it be Silvio." Crouching down near the edge of the door and keeping his hand the lower side of it.
Using domain ability Door Sight: You can lay your hand upon any surface and see what is on the other side, as if using clairvoyance. Using this power takes 1 minute, during which time you must be touching the surface you want to see through. You can keep looking for as long as 10 minutes with each use of this power, but must touch the surface and take no other action the entire time. The surface cannot be thicker than 6 inches plus 1 inch per cleric level you possess. You can use this power a number of times per day equal to 3 + yourWisdom modifier.

....I forgot that was a thing, Dougal. Cool ability!
Dougal stops the violence for just a moment as he concentrates on the door in front of him. He can't explain in so many words, but its as if his mind was in a drunken haze, and the haze had suddenly been lifted so he could truly see beyond the reinforced door.
What he see's is a portend man, his hair unkempt and slick with grease. He scowls as he's putting on som leather straps of armor. To his side, a blade. Dougal is still watching as Orendell delivers another devastating strike. Smeed scowls again, picks up his blade, and flees down the hall.
The door will essentially break with the next hit.
Orendel Kellon |
Orendel pauses as Dougal approaches the door.
"What are you talking..." he starts saying but as he sees what Dougal is attempting, he nods and shoulders his pollaxe.
Silvio Errico |
"Don't worry, this weapon's a little less swingy than Orendel's." Silvio gives Dougal a short breather, giving him a chance to recover some strength in his arms. He then attempts a serious bashing.
Book: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
If doors are crittable, this can be the crit roll. Or else it can be yet another bash.
Book: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Orendel Kellon |
"I'm not entirely unconvinced that book has extra pages to give it weight, as a lawless city like this one can't have a charter that extensive. Either that or its previous owner came from Korvosa," Orendel comments.
Dougal Fairbairn |
Smiling at the door and mumbling to himself, "Wow." Not taking his eyes off the door, "He is armored and has a weapon.. Damn it he tore off down the door. Orendel let Cherry know."
DM Default |
You hear the sound of footsteps, but they're going up.
Silvio smashes the door down with an impressive hit, and the door slams open.
I could roll initiative for you guys, but I need time to set up the roll20 map. the link will appear on the top of the page when ready, so stalling slightly.
EDIT: No sight of Smeed and the door is locked in front of you, it seems a small mud room of sorts, though the one in front of you doesn't seem nearly as reinforced. I'll rely on you telling me what your characters are doing.
Orendel Kellon |
Orendel rushes forward, the spearpoint of his pollaxe fixed ahead of him.
"IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU, YOU'LL STOP WHERE YOU ARE, SMEED!"
Intimidate?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Silvio Errico |
Just tried the Roll20 link, seems to work! But is there a way to take control of my character?
Silvio moves up and tries to open the next door, so that Orendel can intimidate the crap out of Smeed.
DM Default |
Silvio Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Orendel Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Cherry Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Dougal Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Syeira Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Smeed Initiative: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Turn Order: Orendel, Cherry, Dougal, Silvio, Syeira, Smeed
Party up! Players should be able to move tokens now.
The next door is also locked, once again. Not as hard as the first one, really more of a mudroom of sorts.
Silvio Errico |
"I'm not entirely unconvinced that book has extra pages to give it weight, as a lawless city like this one can't have a charter that extensive. Either that or its previous owner came from Korvosa," Orendel comments.
"I admit, there's some space in this book for future laws." reports Silvio. "That, and very thick covers."
Attempting another demonstration, Silvio bashes the next door, and makes sure Orendel has space to do the same.
Book: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17; Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Orendel Kellon |
Orendel nods and strikes at the door in tandem with Silvio.
Poleaxe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9; Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Dougal Fairbairn |
Reaching out and touching the door again. Assuming the door is still there.
Syeira Istrati |
Syeira continues to fret a safe distance away from the second locked door so as to give the men some room to swing their weapons. Just hold on, Larur. We're coming...
DM Default |
There is no answer to Orendel's yell, but with his poleaxe and Silvio's book, the second door is down in no time.
Sorry Dougal
The L-piece is the stairs.
Silvio Errico |
Silvio considers whether it makes sense to ask Cherry to join them.
@DM Default - did Dougal see Smeed run through this door we just broke, or did he run up the stairs?
DM Default |
Dougal saw him leave that small room/hallway (probably should have used room back there. He closed the door after he left, blocking the vision.
Orendel Kellon |
Orendel takes another swing at the door.
Pollaxe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21; Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Silvio Errico |
Door is down I believe.
Silvio pops his head back outside. " Cherry, Smeed might've gone upstairs," he reports, leaving it to Cherry to assess whether to rejoin the group or try cutting him off.

Orendel Kellon |
Orendel advances into the room and makes for the stairs.
Double move to the stairs, I guess?
Dougal Fairbairn |
Dougal will follow after Orendel.
Silvio Errico |
And Silvio will go up too!

Syeira Istrati |
Rather than following the group up the stairs immediately, Syeira stops just inside the entrance to the first floor and searches for any signs of Larur.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
DM Default |
Syeira looks around on the first floor. Its a slovenly display, the place isn't swept there's food waste on the dining table, and the wood has definitely seen better days. No signs of Larur or anything.
There is no response to Orendell's yelling, but he feels more confident as two of his companions follow him up the stairs. All of you stare, at another door.
This one seems slightly reinforced, not as much as the front, but definitely some.
Orendel Kellon |
"No bloody time!" Orendel cries as he takes a whack at it.
Poleaxe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5; Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Dougal Fairbairn |
"Orendel there is always time to pick a lock and it is much less tiring than beating the door down."
Silvio Errico |
Silvio steps aside as Cherry approaches, suggesting he was happy to let her try picking the lock. He begins to parley with Smeed, both desiring to protect Larur and also make enough noise to cover Cherry's work.
"Smeed! You're surrounded and your doors will not hold forever. Give us back Larur and you might come out of this in one piece!" Might, being the operative word, thinks Silvio as he suggests this. It really depended on how Larur was and why he was kidnapped in the first place.
Orendel Kellon |
"Orendel there is always time to pick a lock and it is much less tiring than beating the door down."
"There'll be time for resting when Larur is safe! He could be dying for all we know!" Orendel replies, panic creeping into his voice.
Syeira Istrati |
Syeira makes her way up to the second floor after her brief search of the first. "I didn't see any signs of Larur downstairs," she informs her companions, purposefully keeping her voice low. "Although I couldn't be sure if the disarray was caused by a struggle or if it was the normal state of things for Smeed. Any luck up here?"
DM Default |
"Tell Saul that what he owes me is owes me is gonna double if he ever dares send thugs to my place again. As for you lot, get out of my home!"
You could pick the lock, or just knock it down. Orendel's attack didn't connect quite well enough (miss) (reason, you still have to hit an object in the right way to gain a good effect of force).
You hear some kind of animalist growling on the other side, distinctly different from Lymas's shouting, and definitely not him.
Silvio Errico |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15. "If you wanted us to get out of your home, you shouldn't have kidnapped Larur! Blood for blood, Lymas. That's the law around these parts. So stop making demands and start cooperating!"
He then speaks more quietly to his allies. "Something else growling in there, be ready." He continues to give space for Cherry to try picking the lock, if she desires.
Cherry Razarin |
Cherry hustles up and takes a moment to still her breath, then leans in and listens at the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
"Yeah, guard dog, sounds like," she says, then gulps down another breath of air. She slides a tension bar and a torque rod out of her sleeve and sets to work on the lock.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Orendel Kellon |
Orendel places his poleaxe aside and grabs the shield off his back, preparing to draw his sword as well.
"When you finish picking the lock, Cherry, get behind me. I'll make sure the dog doesn't get past."
Dougal Fairbairn |
Shifting on his feet and quietly waiting for the door to open.
