Vank Stormfist |

Vank leads the group along the wall to the tower marked 6a and looks for a way up. Assuming they can get up he'll settle into a hiding stop and wait for the guards.

Stanislav Greymist |

Ah well, if it becomes a problem I'll drop it right off. he says, surprised that the small wall hanging has sparked so much discussion.
He'd rather have a bedroll, but he does not have one at the moment.

Big OM |

Just to clear something up. The large tapestry is worth 150gp, not the small one you took as a bedroll Stanislav. But Now you have the equivalent of a bedroll.
Unhindered Vank leads the group along the wall cloaked in the shadow it cast. They reach the tower and step inside after the door opens easily. The first that meets the is a stench. Apparently this is where the guards relieve themselves into to the ocean. It does however not block their progress and they make their way to the top of the stairs. Two openings allow access to the battlements, one leading towards the warden's tower, one the other way.
All right, A perception check from everyone except Thomas who has already rolled. Tactics?

Stanislav Greymist |

Right I was clear on that all along.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Stanislav plans to employ what force he needs to to remove himself and his companions from this prison. He will go along with any plan anyone else suggests and will remind people that some of their food is in the main building.

Vank Stormfist |

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 5
"Wait on the insides of the doors and when they open them we hit them hard." he says quietly and goes to stand by the door coming from the warden's tower.

Big OM |

The stench slowly crawls up the stairs towards you as you wait by the doors. Nothing happens in what seems like an eternity but then the door at the the bottom of the tower can be heard an two voice sores through the tower. "Hold on John I need to take a leak. Not even all Asmodeus' could keep me here, I'll wait on the battlement. comes the laughing reply. Heavy steps can be heard approaching on the stairs.
If you want a surprise action please roll stealth, Thomas you can keep yours. Please include an initiative also. As always someone please control Grumblejack.
Guard's perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Grumblejack's stealth: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Guards' initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Nadine presses herself against the wall and looks to her left to empty air and puts her finger up to her lips motioning for her son to be quiet. She readies to cast a spell on the incoming guard.
Ready to cast Daze on him. Will Save DC 15.

Vank Stormfist |

Steakth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Int: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Big OM |

Quiet like church mice you wait for the guard to walk to his doom. Whether it is the sound of Robert's boot against the wooden door or just share bad luck the guard stops. "Hurry up will you, I think I heard something," he yells down the stairs. "Just shaking the last out," comes the reply. For those of you with low-light vision you can see that the man has stopped on the stairs 20 ft. away, his sword and shield is drawn and he is ready for anything.
No surprise action, we'll just take it from the top of the initiative. Nadine, go!
Initiative:
Nadine 15
Guards 14
Stanislav 13
Thomas 10
Grumblejack 9
Robert 8
Vank 6
Who's taking care of Grumblejack?

Nadine Laveau |

Nadine pushes off from the wall, hearing one of the voices close by. She moves out until she can see the guard on the stairs and then makes a small motion with her hand, saying "Ebete."
Move to within range/eyesight. Cast Daze on Guard. Will Save DC 15

Stanislav Greymist |

Stanislav, sword and shield ready, moves down the stairs to meet the guard(s), taking advantage of higher ground if he is still on the stairs. If he can close with one he attacks using power attack.
Long Sword: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 91d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 +1 to hit was from higher ground - not sure it should apply. Looks like a miss either way.

Thomas Glint |

Seeing the one guard a little out of sorts, Thomas decided to engage the other one.

Vank Stormfist |

Vank offered him some weapons but there was nothing sized for him and he refused them all.
Not sure how stairs are set out, is it possible to push past the guard at the top of the stair (taking an AOO on the way of course)? or is there a hand rail or something that can be jumped over and take falling damage to get past him?

Vank Stormfist |

Vank barrelss his way past the fight at the top of the stairs and the stunned guard and rushes down the stairs to con front his companion.

Robert Findlay |

Robert moves up next to the guard, pullibg his dagger and grinning ominously.
"You could surrender. Just because the rest of your ilk preferred painful deaths does not mean you must as well..."

Big OM |

Yes he did, I missed that.
Stepping up behind Thomas and Stanislav the ogre is eager to put some hurt on his tormentors. A large arm comes above the head of both men and hits the guard squarely in the face. The man is still standing abide with blood gushing from his nose and eyebrow.
Grumblejack's damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Vank Stormfist |

getting slightly a head to avoid slowing thing down while travelling. Assuming guard doesn't take him out with attack here is Vank's round 2 action.
Vank swing his sword as moves down the stairs at the bottom guard but misses in his hurry.

Nadine Laveau |

Nadine calls out to the guard. "Oh, do put up a fight, dearie. It makes it all the more juicy when we spill your blood! I wonder what my son will want from your dead corpse?"
Yeah, we'll call that intimidate.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Big OM |

Smiling grimly the guard responds: "Oh I believe I will witch, but it won't be my blood." Eyeing Nadine, he decides that through Stanislav is the closest way to get to her and he delivers a brutal attack to Stanislav's left side. You here the insisting pounding of feet on stairs, the other guard will be here soon.

Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Vank Stormfist |

don't forget the one at the botton of the stairs

Big OM |

Ahh... That's right you went to great him.
"Holy Mitra!" the other guard screams as he focuses in the dark and recognizes that Vank just attacked him and that he's a hobgoblin. It must have influenced his at arms as the sword clatters against the stone wall instead of Vank.
Attacking Vank: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Stanislav Greymist |

Grimacing from the pain, Stanislav tries to trade blows with the man. He power attacks, bringing his sword down hard from his elevated position on the steps above his adversary.
Longsword: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 1 = 221d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Big OM |

The first guard might have wounded Stanislav badly, but he left himself open as he pulled the sword back and Stanislav soon capitalizes on this. His sword crashes down on the man head and only his helmet warding of the worst of the damage saves him. He is though within an inch of his life.
Schocked by the attack he steps back have a foot just taking him away from Thomas' attack.
The guard below can only look as his sword is nowhere near being able to block Vank's and the hobgoblin claims another part in the revenge of his tribe as the man falls lifeless to the floor.

Vank Stormfist |

Vank gets to work stripping off his armour and carving a fist into his chest..

Stanislav Greymist |

Er, Vank, we are still in combat. You could come up behind the guard that wounded Stanislav.

Vank Stormfist |

Er, Vank, we are still in combat. You could come up behind the guard that wounded Stanislav.
You are totally right Vank would never abandon a companion in battle
Vank about to get to work removing the guards armour when he hears the battle still raging above.
Action will wait until next round.

Big OM |

One hand pressing down on the grievous wound in his throat the hopelessly outnumbered guard continues to fight. However some of his skill must have been lost in the blood pooling on the steps. His sword weakly bounces of Stanislav's sword as the skilled fighter parries the feeble attempt to bring him down.
Still attacking Stanislav: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
