Party looks like:
Doc - Alchemist Chirurgeon (healer and artillery)
Alessandra - Archer
Malevor - Swashbuckler
Chaenath - Witch
What do you want to do with Shaeda? My thought would be to keep Shaeda in the crew as a bit more beef for fights when you need it. The group can choose to leave her behind any time you want! But if we want a clean break, we can do it as we move to the next Act in this little play.
What about Diego?

![]() |

If Diego/Solomon doesn't have time to play, I'd say we fade Diego into the background. He could be a passive part of the crew, but I wouldn't bring him into fights etc. It's his character, still.
I'm fine with having Shaeda around if you want to play him.
BTW, updated Rogar. No major changes, stats as I mentioned before, higher INT brought more skills. I took Disable Device, since I think no one else has that now.
Wishlist for loot/gear:
MW/magical crossbow
Ord/MW/magical Chain shirt
Cloak of resistance
Headband of INT / Belt of DEX
Boro bead
Handy Haversack

Grymp |

Malevor is going to be hating life when he doesn't start out with his MW epee and MW chain shirt! Pirates are a thievy lot!

Chaenath Woodsea |

Witches are somewhat less gear dependent.
But she would like:
Cloaks of resistance
Rings of protection
Headband of INT / Belt of DEX
Handy Haversack
Familiar Satchel
And the exotic request of either a Haramaki (maybe to start) and then later some Silken Ceremonial Armor and some way to enchant it up in later levels.
And a Mithral Buckler.
Where do you think Chaenath's otter would be?

Grymp |

Where do you think Chaenath's otter would be?
Doggedly swimming alongside the ship trying to keep up! Or mebbe hiding down in the hold?

Alessandra |

I thought about asking Grok whether she happened to have a masterwork chain shirt in stock, but I figured the longbow would be more useful - also awkward making a new friend when it turns out you're wearing their gear :)

She has a really nice épée hanging on the wall. Never been used, only been dropped once.

Malevor |

"Unused? Humph, I maimed or killed 3 of yours with that and another 5 from other raids. And add another 7 cult of the Dawnflower Assassins."
"I suppose it is in all fairness. You did beat me in combat, albeit it wasn't fair."

Grymp |

Chaenath and Malevor, you guys can dot into gameplay and then delete it immediately, and you'll be all set. With a little luck you guys can all start RPing tomorrow.

Grymp |

I have updated the crew.
I have posted area descriptions for the Man's Promise
Please ensure that you roll perception checks and such before your character knows things described there.
And don't assume you have free reign to explore, with the exception of Alessandra who did a quick sweep and saw the whole ship!
Although, Melevor and Chaenath can decide for themselves which rooms they might know more and less about.

Chaenath Woodsea |

Malevor, should we come up with how Chaenath and your character interacted before or are you fine with having been chained up in different places and so not knowing each other?

Grymp |

So here's where I'm slightly changing things.
The Man's Promise was a Rahadoumi sailing ship carrying cargo and passengers from Azir (in Rahadoum) up to Magnimar. She was captured by pirates/slavers 2 days out of Azir. That was 5 days ago. Most of the crew was killed, and the folks that were sailing the ship as of yesterday were pirates wearing Rahadoumi uniforms, the uniforms the dead crew had been wearing.
Does that all make sense?

Grymp |

I'm fine with Chaenath's version of history. She can have been aboard the slaver ship for some time, and only recently moved to the Man's Promise when she was captured.
That make sense?

Grymp |

Apologies for the "railroady" and longwinded post just there. I hope all agree that it's for the best to move the story along and get to the next chapter!
For our newcomers, I tend to not use a battle mat, but might do so at certain times. I think I do a decent job of discerning intent, and giving lots of stylistic latitude to the PCs to accomplish cool things, and drop spells in the right place, etc.

Grymp |

@Malevor - A lot of basic info missing from your profile. I couldn't find your Init modifier, for example. Can you clean that up for me?
@All - a nice list of Skills and their modifiers would be nice on each profile. Keep in mind that things like Hero Lab tend to minimize the Skills info when you export, and your PC has a skill check for many more skills than just what Hero Lab shows. Often, to keep things moving, I'll check your skills, make a roll, and let you know what you learn and such, so having that easily reachable would be a boon.

Grymp |

Is my profile alright for skills or do you want it formatted differently?
Yours is gtg!

Alessandra |

BTW, this:
The ship I was on was attacked and I was chained and enslaved. she gets a thoughtful expression on her face Still better than Kyonin
made me chuckle. A lot.

Chaenath Woodsea |

Thanks :). Never played Chaotic Good before. Trying to get the hang of how she works.
I would say Chaenath knows the Main Hold and the cooks quarter somewhat well on the Man's Promise. Is that Ok?

Grymp |

Absolutely!
Stand by, and we're going to press forward to the next day after the fight with the grindylows.

Grymp |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I'm the fighter. I missed most of the fight...
You took most of the damage, that's not "missing the fight"

Grymp |

OK, but if Bellara dies, Alessandra's going to come looking for you...
.
.
.
(Do you hear that, dear readers? That is the sound of the Fourth Wall breaking)
Hey! Don't blame me, it's those damn grindylows!

Grymp |

Can I express my dislike for the creative direction that Paizo, and TSR/WOTC before them, have taken some of the classic monsters of myth?
Example 1: the minotaur is intended to be a creature made up with the large muscular body of a man, and the head of a bull. This was most excellently represented in Time Bandits, phenomenally actually! Not this walking cow thing that it has become in the last several iterations.
I have similar, but less egregious complaints on others: centaurs, satyrs, etc.
Golem's have never done justice to their origin stories.
The vast majority of monsters over the years have been pulled from the various mythos around the world, sometimes delving REALLY deep into lesser known areas of lesser known mythos. Heck, Paizo has actually introduced a hopping vampire, although not with all of the asian flavor of the hopping vampire, but enough to make me take pause and consider not writing one into a story I've had bubbling in my mind for years.
Oh, and the nuckelavee, is pretty well done!
Try looking up where "oread" comes from.
We've now got creatures in the game named for the winds, streams, and very minor spirits. That's all cool, but why muck with the core creatures that made the game great?

Grymp |

FYI. I'll be in town and able to play hard through Thursday. After that, the wife and I and our wee little nipper are going on a Disney cruise. Yes, it promises to be the most awesome vacation ever. Anyways, so I'll be out from 3 April - 12 April, and will be back up and running on the 13th.

Alessandra |

Meager loot procured. Identification of the ship accomplished. Young giant moray eel "trap" overcome.
So what's the plan?
Find friends
Kill those holding them
Rescue friends
Kill Plugg and Scourge, plus lackeys
Take over ship
Profit!

I just dropped a note to a person using the "sign up for an AP" spreadsheet that Malevor and Chaenath used. He has an Inquisitor of Caiden.
Could be a good fit, another part time healer, and right now is a decent time to add a new PC, as it would seem the group is about to go for the Grindylows.
What does an Inquisitor of Caiden get all worked up over? "You're not drinking enough, damn you! It offends my deity! Now drink up, or you will be tortured!"
