Welcome, nefarious ones! Create your aliases and make a post with them here.

We're still waiting for A 1970 Corvette to finish his character, so we probably won't be starting for a while.

HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! MY GENIUS WILL SOON BE UNLEASHED UPON THIS FORUM!

Male Hairy Highlander Halfbreed (ThirdSwede) Barbarian 9/King O' The North 5/Staffy Dad 7

Cheers for the selection! :)

I'm in the same boat. Need to nail down my character's crunch... hopefully will have something up later today.

Liberty's Edge

Male Halfling

Ok thanks for selecting me, So besides being immortal and ageless and rich what powers and amount of points left will I have for other powers?

Is this where one signs up for the Evil League of Goggles? No? Well, what is this, then? What, you're going to make me rich beyond my wildest dreams? Baby, you ain't seen how wild my dreams can get.

Goggles? Why would I wear goggles? They are so hard to match to a Tiara! And people won't be able to see the sparkles in my eyes! No, goggles simply won't do.

Dodge: 15 Parry: 0 Fortitude: 0 Toughness: 5 Will: 15| Perception +15| Init +0| VP: 1/1

No one will be able to see your sparkles if shrapnel or acid or any number of OTHER unpleasant things gets in them either...

Male Hairy Highlander Halfbreed (ThirdSwede) Barbarian 9/King O' The North 5/Staffy Dad 7

Just giving you all the heads up - have PM'd our benign overlord as I've had a major rethink on my character concept... (just couldn't get anything from the Ettin idea that I really wanted to play).

However I've been struck with devilish inspiration since then and have come up with a concept/build that I've really keen on. Character will still be a be a brick (of sorts) going with a hellish mash-up of The Demon/Sabbac meets Gordon Gecko from Wall Street... (trust me it works).

Will await if IC (and your bad selves) are okay with the changeup before I drop my character into the mix, as I'm aware I could be rejected on the grounds of false advertising! :S

Tiara? How much do they go for? We could pawn it then use the money to get the proper gear for the big score!

Crackerjack wrote:

This guy gets it! Gotta have the right gear for the right job!

Yes, but if shrapnel or acid does get in my eyes, which is highly unlikely, I just make it not happen. Goggles are for commoners.

And one doesn't pawn tiaras. One wears them of course. What good would they do in a pawn shop? If you need something you just get your servants to give it to you.

You all are so silly. Look at him, he doesn't even know who he is. He's flicking back and forth between two different people.

I will be a team player, but if you want her to contribute her shinys, then you're going to have to sweet talk her and play into her delusion. She really doesn't see the same world that you do.

Plus I have a sneaking suspicion that she won't start with any shinies.

To be honest that probably means she won't be contributing to the team very often, since Crackerjack at least will have no desire to feed into those delusions.

So somebody who is into complicated plans won't stoop to humoring someone who has obviously useful talents? After all, she does make for a great distraction. And convincing her to do other things will be much easier than convincing her to give up her jewelry and fancy clothes. After all, it wouldn't be easy for somebody to make you give up your fancy swiss army gadget, would it?

The jewelry and fancy clothes aren't an issue, it's treating her as though she's an actual fairy princess (i.e. better than him). That Arrogance complication is going to be pinging a lot.

Male Hairy Highlander Halfbreed (ThirdSwede) Barbarian 9/King O' The North 5/Staffy Dad 7

To me there will be an element of how the Hellfire Club used Jean Grey in the Dark Phoenix Saga - they manipulated the situation (and her), and played out the necessary roles for the greater evil...

That's my take.

Oh, I think we can figure out how to make it a fun RP thing without making it a frustrating problem that impedes the game.

Hmmm... I may need to change out my temper complication and reflavor imperious stare. Perhaps a bit too intense for her.

That's also a bit of a different situation, since while I haven't read that part I know a smidge of how uber-powerful the Phoenix Force is. Caravelle is nowhere near that level of "Must have world shattering cosmic force".

I'm not saying Philo needs to change the character, just laying out that not everyone is going to kowtow to Caravelle any more than I expect everyone to just nod and go along when Crackerjack starts monologuing to the hero when everything's gone t$+& up and the crew is trying to escape instead of just running and calling him an idiot.

Oh, as a player I can work with that. Being delusional means that I can react to what I perceive you as saying instead of what you actually said.

and how does your character know what the limits of my power are? Perhaps I'm really cosmically powerful and I'm just showing a lot of restraint.

Tweaked a few points and added character to profile.

I foresee many conflicts of interest with this group. Excellent.

No worries, man. You still fit the much-needed role of "big tough guy". Beyond that, I'm flexible.

Grym Slade wrote:

Depends. How rich do you want to be, and how quickly do you want to come back from the dead?

Tweaked my skills a bit and changed a complication from temper to gullible.

Liberty's Edge

Male Halfling

Well I want to come back fast enough to not be out of the game over much and for humor value ala groundhogs day and I want to be rich enough to fund bad guy plans with impunity. Lastly, some third power to do something with that can add to the group as a buff to their powers would be cool

Presenting Māmōn; Black Dow's infernal brute and self-styled Demon Prince of Greed.

Hopefully he'll fill the required bruising strong-man role whilst adding a little diabolic flavour to the group dynamics.

@Bankshot: Like your complications my friend. Very laudable ;)

It's the traditional thief greed catch-22 trap :)

Makes Bankshot the perfect lackey for those with vision and social skills.

Edit:

Until the sudden but inevitable betrayal over a couple bucks. ;D

I was told to prove I exist.

I do.

Hume states that a thing is either logically demonstrable or physically perceivable to exist, so I choose to believe.

I reserve judgement.

When faced with the unknown... better the devil you know ;)

Won't know for sure until we take 'er for a test drive. Does the engine still work?

If you take the Immortality power with a rank of 5, you can come back after one day. You'll be out of the fight, but still get to wake up to Cher every morning. That'll cost 10 points.

You can be a billionaire for 5 points by taking the Wealth advantage at rank 5 (5 points). We'll assume that that covers all of your day-to-day needs, including the materials for Crackerjack's contraptions.

As for buffing the group, I don't know of anything that boosts powers in particular. However, there is an Enhanced Trait power that can boost attributes (Strength, Int, etc.) or even grant a new advantage (which are basically this game's version of feats. It's normally a personal-range effect, but we can apply the Affects Others, Area, and Selective modifiers so that you can give it to nearby allies. The trick is, you have to choose just one trait for this power. Maybe we could make an array and let you swap out different enhancements? We can work out the numbers some time, but it seems doable.

Made a slight adjustment to the "Implosion Cannon" part, traded Increased Range (Perception range explosions are neat, but generally unnecessary) for Selective, so I don't blow people up.

Another thing to add is that boosting other people doesn't work the way it does in most games. If you give somebody extra strength and they are at PL, then they don't do more damage.

Am mulling rejigging some build picks to give our demonic bruiser Flight 2 (Flaw: Wings) - will most likely be drawn from Advantages.

Would give us more manoeuvrability in combat and still fits the infernal mould.

Thoughts?

@Sundakan: Surely blowing people up is just "collateral damage" ;)

Well hey, if you guys are fine being collateral I can add more boom instead. Multi-attack AoEs sound fun.

Speaking of mobility, I can open up to 7 different portals. I was hoping to get up to some fun shenanigans with that. Downside, since it's part of an array I can't use my own gun while those are active.

Sounds really cool! So a guy who is immune to disease and aging who is immortal and comes back in a day hearing Cher... lol

Rejigging done.

IC - What "world" will be setting this in? (am just curious as I've drawn on some real world historical referencing for my character).

Hmmmm...

Metahumans and other supernatural entities have been around since the dawn of history, but their appearances have always been rare and isolated enough to be dismissed as myths. Only in the last century or so have they become widespread enough to dramatically affect the course of history.

By shocking coincidence, historical events up until that point are very similar to those in our reality.

When do we think we might get started? Or at least get a gameplay thread to dot into so I can close a tab?

Whenever Corv's done with his character, which probably won't happen until I help him with it, which probably won't happen until I'm done with finals this week.

I can make the gameplay thread though.

How about something like this:

Spoiler:

Lazarus Minmillion - PL 10
Anyone can be named Maxmillion. When's the last time you heard of someone named Minmillion? Never, that's when.

Strength 0, Stamina 0, Agility 4, Dexterity 2, Fighting 2, Intellect 4, Awareness 4, Presence 4

Advantages
Benefit, Wealth 5 (billionare), Hide in Plain Sight, Inspire 5, Jack-of-all-trades, Leadership, Teamwork, Well-informed
Inspire, Leadership, and Teamwork will help with bolstering the team.

Powers
Adaptive Physical Immunity: Immunity 110 (Fortitude Effects, Toughness Effects; Limited: Effects you have experienced at least once)

While you can be affected by pretty much anything, it only works once (with physical effects) making you immune to it the next time it happens.

Bolstering Gaze: Enhanced Strength 3 (+3 STR; Affects Others Only, Increased Range 2: perception)
. . Enhanced Ability: Enhanced Agility 3 (Alternate; +3 AGL; Affects Others Only, Increased Range 2: perception)
. . Enhanced Ability: Enhanced Awareness 3 (Alternate; +3 AWE; Affects Others Only, Increased Range 2: perception)
. . Enhanced Ability: Enhanced Dexterity 3 (Alternate; +3 DEX; Affects Others Only, Increased Range 2: perception)
. . Enhanced Ability: Enhanced Fighting 3 (Alternate; +3 FGT; Affects Others Only, Increased Range 2: perception)
. . Enhanced Ability: Enhanced Intellect 3 (Alternate; +3 INT; Affects Others Only, Increased Range 2: perception)
. . Enhanced Ability: Enhanced Presence 3 (Alternate; +3 PRE; Affects Others Only, Increased Range 2: perception)
. . Enhanced Ability: Enhanced Stamina 3 (Alternate; +3 STA; Affects Others Only, Increased Range 2: perception)

One at a time, you can boost an attribute of any ally you can see as a standard action. The boost is only 3 points and it is still limited by the power level limits, but you can enhance the areas we're weak at pretty well this way.

Immortal Frame: Immunity 4 (Aging, Disease, Poison, Starvation & Thirst)
Because all that's cool, although if you wanted to save a few points, you could skip the Disease and Poison and let your Adaptive Physical Immunity take care of that one disease and poison at a time.

Immortality: Immortality 5 (Return after 1 day; Innate)

Offense
Initiative +4
Grab, +2 (DC Spec 10)
Throw, +2 (DC 15)
Unarmed, +2 (DC 15)

You suck at fighting

Languages
Native Language

Defense
Dodge 4, Parry 2, Fortitude Immune, Toughness Immune, Will 10

Power Points
Abilities 40 + Powers 89 + Advantages 15 + Skills 0 (0 ranks) + Defenses 6 = 150

Validation: Complications: At least 2 Complications are required

Wonderful, I even love the name. Still need to add that everytime I die I come back hearing the same radio song in my bed at home as a quirk. Lol

Scarab Sages

Male Human 8 Ranger

not....again...

As that has no mechaniccal impact, it's not even worth a Quirk or Feature. It's just something you describe.

Scarab Sages

Male Human 8 Ranger

Dying in outer space or at the bottom of the ocean or trapped under twenty tons of bricks has a mechanical impact I would say? Waking up in your bed hearing cher is not only funny but returns me safely to home base no muss no fuss.

Thanks, Reckless! That looks pretty good.

And yeah, I'll say being revived in your bed is worth a Feature. As Reckless suggested, you can drop either Disease or Poison immunity to get the point you need for that.

If he's actually teleporting a theoretically infinite distance to a safe location every time he revives, I'd say that is worth way more than a simple Feature myself. That really does not sound equivalent in power to a kangaroo pouch or your own theme music (or even immunity to hot and cold weather).

Who says it's guaranteed to be safe? ;)
