Don't wait for me, then. I'll step out. Thanks for the invite, but I prefer to keep optimization within the obvious rules. I understand the temptation some people have to "Bend" the words and pretend the rules are different, but it's not how I build. I prefer optimizing with charm and meaning and keep it within the rules. Anyone can open hero Iab and add templates, even if some of them clearly state their intended use. Plus, when someone can't cite existing examples of a rule they're arbitrarily trying to abuse, it becomes obvious the game won't go far. Thanks again for the invite, Forgedawn, and good game.

Basically everything stacks? Well.... Okay then..... Umm.... Are you sure? Because I'm very nearly invincible as-is. With this.... I would have SR somewhere in the 30s. Are you really, really sure? Because as much as I love optimizing using the constraints I'm given, this just seems..... Absurd. I'll update my sheet, have it ready in a few hours.

Sorry to see you go Chess. If you prefer, I can alter Eglian so that he falls 100% within demonstrable rules. However..... He wouldn't be less powerful. Remember when I said I wasn't going all out?

You don't have to stack everything, but you will want to, as several things may have bypassing abilities.

AC 68/47/52 (20% concealment); Saves F7 R23 W19; Init +35/+15; Perc +34 (True Seeing, blindsight 60, aura sight, arcane sight, speechreader's sight, greensight') HP 60/60; Temp HP 31/31; SP 60/65

Have we lost Aroci?

Nope, just talked to him.

Good. :)

You guys OK with me running another recruitment to replace The Chess? The game will be very hard with only 3 people.

That, or I have a friend who would play a draconic exemplar.

AC 68/47/52 (20% concealment); Saves F7 R23 W19; Init +35/+15; Perc +34 (True Seeing, blindsight 60, aura sight, arcane sight, speechreader's sight, greensight') HP 60/60; Temp HP 31/31; SP 60/65

If you know somebody, that often turns out better. And more dragons are always better.

OK then. I'l get him to make his character.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The friend will be joining us tonight.

Great. I can't wait to get more people here.

Male Taninim (Magma) Draconic Exemplar 5

Here I am. The crunch isn't done, but I can roleplay.

Eglian: He didn't call you a human, just a man.

I know. IC, though, Eglian thought he referred to him as human (which makes sense, considering he's shapeshited into one at the moment), which for some reason never gets old to him.

Is Aroci still playing?

He said he was, but he hasn't posted.

So, wait. How is this not a plot hook? It sounds like the setup for the entire story.

Maybe I'm tricking you. Never know ;)

Well, I mean, this does match the campaign description, both in the campaign info tab and the recruitment thread....
Sense Motive v. DM: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

The DC to figure out I'm evil is 0. You did it.

Yay?

Also, (something I keep forgetting to ask, but have been meaning to do for a while. I was bored today) what abilities from my templates do I keep while I'm shapechanged? DR, Energy Resistance, Fast healing, SR, speed boost, other movement from templates, tremorsense, energy drain, gaseous form, shadowless, vampire weaknesses, blood drain, spider climb? I know I lose Darkvision, so what do I keep?

Not sure on the ruling, so I'll let you keep 3 of your choice.

Well, the issue comes from the fact I can't polymorph into a creature with a template.

Really, keeping 3 of my choice is something of an issue. It's more of a "what is dependent on my form" question. Is SR a part of my physical form? Can I still be harmed by sunlight while polymorphed? Am I forced into gaseous form as usual when reduced to 0 hit points?

Also, could I change my spell list a bit? I'm having second thoughts on a few of my choices.

You're allowed to change stuff until the first combat, at which point all will be locked in

Okay. Sounds good. Still semi-deciding if I want to break the game even further, in that case.

From my reading (and understanding for what is and isn't dependent on form), I keep:
My Spell Resistance, mythic abilities (except tremorsense), and gaseous form (iffy, but it would seem to be ending my changed shape).
Interestingly, I cast a shadow when polymorphed. Would I still be forced into gaseous form (and thus, my natural shape) when I'm reduced to 0 hit points?

Okay, so I started a thread on the question. By and large, the consensus was that I either kept at least most of my abilities (other than blood drain), or kept all of them, because of how polymorph works.

Thoughts?

Good with me.

Okay, so.
I'm torn between utterly annihilating game balance and estimated power levels, and being nice.
Are my fellow players fine with me utterly releasing my inner munchkin, and going all out, or should I keep my power closer to where it is currently, just upping it by a little?
Or keep it where it is now?

I don't want to upset my party members, after all.

Also, do we still have Aroci and Verinstal?

Verinstal said he will be on tonight, and Aroci may show up someday.

*whistles innocently*

Ixi? You seem to be the only other player regularly posting, so I'll put it to you: Should I go all-out, at the risk of absolutely stealing the spotlight (I'll try not to, though)? I kind of want to go for it, but I don't want to alienate my fellow PCs.

AC 68/47/52 (20% concealment); Saves F7 R23 W19; Init +35/+15; Perc +34 (True Seeing, blindsight 60, aura sight, arcane sight, speechreader's sight, greensight') HP 60/60; Temp HP 31/31; SP 60/65

Let's give them one more day. Then go wild.

I think I will.

GM, Just know that if my level of optimizing is too much for you to handle, I'm happy to tone it back. ;)

AC 68/47/52 (20% concealment); Saves F7 R23 W19; Init +35/+15; Perc +34 (True Seeing, blindsight 60, aura sight, arcane sight, speechreader's sight, greensight') HP 60/60; Temp HP 31/31; SP 60/65

Well, we could probably have more friends without outrageous optimization. Or we could simply be the outrageously optimized duo. I could go either way.

We could likely pull off being a party of 4 without too much trouble- dual initiative helps with that a lot. Plus, we could sneak by almost anything. My base form is Tiny, after all.

Do you guys want me to rerun recruitment and get more players? Or do you prefer being a duo? The campaign was built for 4 high power characters.

AC 68/47/52 (20% concealment); Saves F7 R23 W19; Init +35/+15; Perc +34 (True Seeing, blindsight 60, aura sight, arcane sight, speechreader's sight, greensight') HP 60/60; Temp HP 31/31; SP 60/65

Well, more players means more waiting for that guy to post. We're roughly equal in power level*, so I say let's go.

*though you don't hold a candle to me for kyuteness.

I agree. If we end up struggling... we can always recruit more.
For now, may as well move on. Besides, I'm a Summoner (if relatively weak for our "CR"), with powerful summon spells, insane necromancy abilities, and we both have Dual Initiative. I think we can fake being a larger party without too much trouble.

Profile updated, by the way. I've realized that nobody should let me anywhere near the monster creation rules (which the mythic subtype does).

Some of the major changes:
I now cast as an oracle that can learn wizard spells (as opposed to a sorcerer that can cast cleric), which allows me to cast in armor, and gives me revelations, as well. Changed up most of my spells known, as well. I'm mostly a Wordcaster now.

Swapped a couple feats

Recalculated my stats a little (I was a few points overspent).

Switched the Tremorsense universal monster ability out for the Spell-Like Ability ability.

...and somehow, I'm still CR 5.

Hey, Charisma 35 over here! Plus an at-will alter self. I can do just fine for a strange, earthen-like being from a different universe, whose true form is terrifying to behold and has hints to a vampiric nature.

Is it allowed to Wish for magic items?

I'll twist it.

I won't risk it, then. I'll stick to the clearly-defined parameters. Still super-powerful.

Actually, I suppose with Wishes to spare, I can get rid of any nasty cursed items. I suppose I'll use that as a backup after shopping.

Hello?

Yep

Just got a bit of stuff to do right now.

Happy Easter!

Sorry I've been off. Ran out of creativity for a bit.
I should have a post up by tomorrow night.

Happy Easter.

I almost want to go and challenge Cthulu, just to see how I'd do. Once I have a few death backups, I suppose…
Are we using XP to level up? Or are you just telling us when we do? Because, I mean, XP farming would be insane if we counted as either our HD as our level or our "CR" for level ups.

Oh, and I managed to eke out a bit more power from my build, too. I took the Master Summoner archetype (my eidolon was going to be hopeless anyway compared to us), which gives me Augment Summoning as a bonus feat, meaning it frees up two more; which I used on quicken spell and piranha strike.

Remember, I'm quite happy to stop whenever, if I get too powerful to handle. Eglian is absurd as is. Next level, he'll only become more so, I guess.
