Rikal already gets weird visions from the stuff he drank to prove he was worthy of being a hunter. He ain't doing it again.
"Then let us fix it. I will help you as best I can - my visions have granted me some insight into these strange machines."

Chotka, Last of the Blackeyes |

Chotka died last time and still needs to remove a left over negative level. He'll probably content himself to devouring the hearts of the recently living for now, unless peer pressure convinces him otherwise.

You can always save one or two or twenty for later.

Khonnir and Rikal went to work. Mostly the wizard did the work, but now and then Rikal just knew what had to be done and set to it as if he'd done it countless times before. It took several tedious hours, much of which was spent being sure that they hadn't made things worse, but in the end both men believed the machine was now safe.
Along the way, Rikal also realized that the device had been sending its power to somewhere described by a set of numbers. Khonnir believed it would take some time to work them out, but Rikal had the unnatural sense that the place was near and he could find it just by looking.

Groo will drink the blood of his enemies!

Rikal Elkhorn |

"Now that we have hopefully restored relative safety to your village, we should see about a return to the surface. Then, we shall see about finding the place the power was sent to. I know not who or what this "Lord of Rust" the woman spoke of is, but I do not believe that they mean well to either your people or ours, Khonnir Bhaine," Rikal says, once they've completed their work.

"It does not augur well at all," Khonnir said.
Juice time!: 1d100 ⇒ 55 duration: 3d4 ⇒ (4, 4, 2) = 10
Groomahk drinks the fluid and his innards begin to churn. It's like he ate something that's trying desperately to get out of him...and it has claws! Sickened for 10 hours.

Spidre |

Spidre draws back her hood and notes the two men speaking of bad omens. "Are you saying... this isn't over?" She asks hesitantly. "After all of this, there's more?"

Rikal Elkhorn |

"That woman, a servant of a being called Hellion, was redirecting power from here to another location. I fear this is only the beginning of troubles for all in this land."

Karek Redhand |

Karek looks up from counting his fingers, 'Mathematics, how does counting tell us anything?' He eyes Khonnir Baine with deep thought, and thoughtfully swigs some of the Numerian fluids. "Because it might work." He tells Spidre.

Rikal Elkhorn |

"I believe I will know it when I see it. The spirits and my visions will guide me. We should, however, return to the surface. Have you brought any means of guarding our breath while we swim from the cave?" The last question is directed to Spidre.
Air bubble isn't a shaman spell, and I'm not high enough level to cast Water Breathing.

Let's say Old Joram supplied scrolls.
Karek drinks: 1d100 ⇒ 6 Ages this many years: 2d10 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Karek drank his fluid and an icy pain spread through his body, as though the life were being chilled right out of his flesh.

Spidre |

Spidre suddenly sets about collecting any remaining samples of the dangerous fluid. "You know what? That's it. That's enough. You guys are all going to die from drinking this garbage and then who's going to save the town? I'm taking these back to sell at market and buy you guys some potions of... whatever will make you less crazy!" She says with exasperation.
Just roleplay. Obviously drink as many as you want.

Karek Redhand |

Karek strokes his beard with some delight. "You see little one? It's worth trying the strange liquids. Maybe you should? You might be lucky enough to grow a proper beard too!"
He stops and has a sudden realization. "And I should thank you for returning with aid. You did well pulling us from the cage she had us in."
I like having the little female Halfling as the only sane one in the group, trying to mother us and keep us from blowing thing up. :)

Rikal Elkhorn |

She's not the only sane one. Rikal, as designated healer, kind of needs to be in order to do his job. However, his attitude is more of a "let you get in trouble, then clean up the mess" type, not prevent you from doing so.
Rikal merely shakes his head. "It is truly impressive, but we must take care. The elders of a tribe have often lost some of their physical strength, though they gain in wisdom. Still, it would be best if we were not to weaken ourselves too much. Now, let us return to the surface. We have restored the purple flame."

Samnell |

"Does the machine talk say if any of my people are here? Captured like us? And if the fire is back, won't our enemies know their attack failed?"
"Not that I have seen; I'm sorry," Khonnir said.
The Sworn Band made their way safely back to the surface, where they soon saw the blazing violet light of the torch at the top of the hill.

Groomahk |

Groomahk, in a particularly foul mood because of his unsettled gut, snarls the whole trek back and is particularly violent with any small critters unfortunate enough to cross his path

Groo was ruthless with several rats, a few squirrels, and a small bird.
And like thirty halflings. He needs to leave Torch quick. Geez, man.

Rikal Elkhorn |

I don't think it was a room in the ship. I think the other location is further away - like maybe the focus of the next part of the AP, perhaps? *stares at blatant quest hook*
Once back in Torch, Rikal will use all of the different color cards they have to try and open the locked box.
I'm trying to open the box with the different colored cards. I believe we have brown, black, and white, but if we any other colors, I'm trying those two.

It's not in the present complex.
Can you remind me where the box is from? I know I gave it to you but I'm blanking on here you found the thing.

Rikal Elkhorn |

I think Karek is right about that one. Here is the post where you gave it to us.

The white card opens the locked box, which contains
2 bang grenades
1 flash grenade
1 soft grenade
1 suit neraplast armor
1 timeworn stun gun (5 charges)

Chotka, Last of the Blackeyes |

Once they were back in town, Chotka found a moment to speak to Khonnir. "You had good magic in the fight. Do you know how to enchant weapons? We found this thing down there," Chotka said as he dropped the chainsaw on the able in front of him, "and I was hoping you might be able to make it good for fighting. It nearly cut Groomahk in half. I need it to be able to fully cut things in half."

Hmmm...it's nice and all, but I think we should sell it. I don't think any of us is going to switch to using it. We should keep the grenades though. Do we need Weapon Proficiencies to use those, or are they treated as Alchemical Weapons?
Rikal will work with Spidre to sell much of the things they don't want.
We'll tally that up in Discussion.

Chotka, Last of the Blackeyes |

"Good. I'll leave it here. Let me know what you need to make it better and I'll get it. Thanks."
Intentionally leaving it a bit open ended here. I doubt Chotka would really request any particular upgrade since he really isn't knowledgable at that sort of thing. Right now there's not much to do other than make it masterwork and possibly magic, but farther down the road Chotka will probably bring in his prized weapon and just ask 'make it good.'

Rikal Elkhorn |

As we learn more about the metal men, Rikal will probably start making suggestions like "magically more effective against the metal men" (construct-bane) or "make it strike like the thunders" (thundering, since Chotka has elemental rage electricity already).

Chotka, Last of the Blackeyes |

Hehe, that seems reasonable. I just like the idea of Chotka relying on others in that fashion. Knowing that he doesn't know everything is what led him to seek an alliance with Torch in the first place.

You can just throw the things. The button/pin deal is easy to intuit out.

I'm cool with that. Just tell me what you want OOC and Khonnir, who has that big wizard brain, will figure it out. Just making it master work for now, right?

Chotka, Last of the Blackeyes |

Yeah, I don't have quite enough money to make it magic yet (1682.6g currently), that's next on the agenda. If, as GM, you know that Khonnir might have an idea for something useful that's different than what I suggest out of character, I'm ok with a surprise too.

"It will require some special reagents," Khonnir said. "But I could have modifications done by noon tomorrow."
