Chotka, Last of the Blackeyes |

Technically, cover is applied as a bonus to AC, instead of a penalty to attack. Doing it otherwise can make it easy to accidentally apply it twice, though with this much discussion that's not too likely, for this instance at least. =P

Spidre |

Actually I think it's technically a +4 to the enemy's AC, but I've always played it as a -4 to the attack because it's just simpler that way.

Round 1, bottom half
As soon as he can see through the door Karek lobs a Shock bomb at the topmost Gearsman. The bomb fell short, but the shock caught one of the metal men all the same.
With a roar, Groo bursts intot he room and swings his mighty bone-beak at the metal man in a great arch. Then, he follows it with a great chomp from his powerful tusks. Coming on the heels of Karek's lightning, it was nearly enough to destroy the robot.
When the doors open, Spidre catches sight of the woman from before. "There she is!" She hisses as her bow sings with the flight of arrows. Unfortunately, with the enormity of their companions it becomes difficult to hit anything while avoiding them.
The metal men rained blows down on him in return, bruising him through his new carapace and then cracking it open to wound the relatively tender flesh beneath.
"The Lord of Rust destroys your feeble spells," the woman with the wand prayed. Karek felt himself start to shrink for just an instant before his alchemy reasserted itself.
"Very nice, but we have better things to worry about," Sanvil said. He spoke a quick incantation, his free hand touching his bared blade. He gleamed with a sickly green light. Then he stabbed at Khonnir, who turned at just the right time to see the blade and dodge.

"Sanvil Trett, you stood to make a great deal of money from this venture - now you shall find only death."
Rikal charges Sanvil, slashing at him with the flame blade. Burned, Sanvil danced back and fetched up against the doors barring the way to the passage of lightnings.
"I never liked you," Khonnir said. He drew out a wooden wand with lines of metal worked into it. They glowed red for an instant and two bolts shot into Sanvil's chest.

"Burn in nuclear fires!" the woman with the wand shouted, hurling a gout of strangely colored flame from her hand. It grazed Groo's shoulder.
Then the metal men were upon him again, battering him into the ground despite his thick hide. With the raging, wild orc dispatched, they step forward over his bleeding form.
At the sworn band's rear, faced with a blazing sword and a roused wizard, Sanvil snarls "I'm not getting paid enough for this!"[/b] turned and tried to flee through the corridor of lightnings. He found the door locked.

Keep Groomahk on his feet when his rage ends, and then get Karek back on his.

Spidre |

Spidre scurries around swiftly and quietly, collecting arrows and searching for valuables. The others were handling the real business, but this was the job easily forgotten. That, and she was short on funds since the orcs had chosen not to share Khonnir's bounty.
Raven glides silently among them, barely seen or heard, assisting Spidre in her work. It is impossible to make eye contact with the dark figure as his hood hangs impossibly low, and he seems far more interested in his task than in socializing.

Healing applied, Rikal turned to the console. It was more complex than anything he'd seen before, but after a few moments he could tell that the machine's condition was slowly deteriorating. It might fail at any moment, but probably would not for some time. Failure would mean a catastrophic explosion. The readout also indicated that some of the machine's power was being sent to a relay named with a string of numbers.
"It is possible that the flame comes from this very machine," Bhaine said. "The woman clearly did something to it and- Oh, this is not good at all. These devices are temperamental. They contain and produce power, which runs the ship's ruins. It's...it's best to think of it as something like lightning. In better days it might have held for the ages, but whatever this woman did has further damaged it. If this reactor explodes, there will be a great hole where Torch once stood. Most likely, our familiar flame is part of a safety mechanism. When the reactor is overloaded, there is a discharge to prevent further damage to the machinery. She was draining off power to somewhere, so the flame went out. Stopping that should restore it and, perhaps, reverse the damage she has done."
