Altorin turns to his ally with a smile that shows he loves when others ask about his life.
"Well, my people are from a planet with generation long seasons. I was born between the Winter and Summer which allowed me to see the sun rise on our our beautiful planet. The warmth! The power! It is a wonderful thing, no? A few of the many reasons I try to stay in the glow of a solar being and that means I need to survive the elements!" he continues to wax on often poetically until asked to stop or pointed at something needing a more practical approach.

Seeing the dinosaurs would be enough to shut him up for a moment...just a moment.
"Hoo boy, those are some big fellas! We just weaving through the slow ones? Good idea!"
Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
He notices some tracks and holds up a hand...
"Here, we got some tracks and these aren't going to be the nice kind. We can try to sneak up on them but it isn't my specialty so I will take up the flank."
Stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 1 Oh, how fitting! Hopefully you all get close before I come clomping down the way.
GM Ewok |
Altorin, I feel like that stealth check fits with your character.
As Altorin kindly points out, there are two sets of carnivorous dinosaur tracks heading through the area. It appears there is a nest up ahead! A brief glance through the woods shows that the dinosaurs look like feathered bipedal snakes with rattling frills and two small forelimbs. You can each attempt Stealth checks to approach unnoticed; those who succeed can act in a surprise round.

Ferradei’s chilling beam strikes the lead dinosaur, the ice crackling over her scales. The Prof stands firm beside her, his laser beam glancing off the shoulder of the dino. Suddenly, a frightening series of growls emits from within the group! A hasty turn of the head reveals that the sounds are not from a third dinosaur but from Jaqweh! Looking back, it appears the slower dinosaur is offended by the sounds, shaking in place.
Regalion’s magical armor hums to life as Altorin steps up to the dinosaur, adjusting his spear so that he can defend himself and his allies. Darqen pulls the trigger on his pistol, his fancy computer tricks unable to distract the dinosaur. As such, it lashes out at him as he shoots off a scale!

Phew, sorry about the late post today. Glad to see everyone is back!
Darqen’s computer beeps again, this time with a perfect targetting array. His baton swings through the air, just barely clipping the chin of the dinosaur. His blow throws the dinosaur off balance, into Ferradei’s beam of icy frost! The beam hits the beast in the eye, causing it’s limp body to fall to the floor.
Regalion, brave as can be, runs between the two dinosaurs as the first falls. His longsword slices through the air, scarring the face of the remaining Ophidiraptor! Nice crit.
crit damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
His longsword swings back a second time, gouging into her scales. Altorin follows with a jab of his spear, pulling it out a bloody mess. Jaqweh’s advice and his bolt hit the fray at the same time, causing further damage to the wounded beast.
The dinosaur wavers in place, about to pass out. But, it gains some resolve and looks about to snap at Altorin! Then, it is interrupted by a flight of three magical attacks sent by the professor. The dinosaur falls to the ground, dead!
COMBAT OVER
Nicely done! That was a crazy round!
Travelling over the precarious bridges, you find the next of the dinosaurs. Within you find bones, destroyed equipment, and other evidence that the Starfinders who left the beacon have long since died. However, the beacon contains information about a larger group of Starfinders
that established an outpost on another planet in the Agillae system. The information is encrypted, and it will require time onboard one of the larger ships to decipher. So you can
now carry on with the other missions while you wait.
Luckily for the group, a landing craft has just become available and can extract you from the site immediately. You do not need to trek back to their starship on foot.
Alright, where do you want to go next? Every area is still open. (See Slide 1)

Darqen Taabestuun |
Darqen spends resolve to regain SP. I am for starship graveyard.
GM Ewok |
I just looked at the number of missions HMM's table has completed. Let's just say, I'm going with the 1.5 votes for Starship Graveyard and moving us forward!
The transport craft takes you back to the mothership, where you are ushered towards the bridge. Plugged into a nearby communication station, Historia- 7’s eyes blink rapidly as she collates data from many teams across the Starfinder fleet. She snaps out of her technological trance and fully opens her eyes. “Greetings, Starfinders. I have assigned your team to a mission on Agillae-5. Our scans indicate that many Starfinder starships from the previous expedition crash-landed on the same spot on the planet, forming an enormous concentration of wreckage that spreads out for miles on the otherwise barren planet." She turns back to the screens for a few milliseconds, making a multitude of decisions. She then turns back to you, as if there had been no interruption. "Investigate the ships, locate any survivors, and retrieve any useful data from the ships. We don’t know what caused so many ships to crash-land on the planet, so exercise caution during the investigation.”
You all pile into a Pegasus class vessel and head towards the planet. Shortly after you begin the descent to the planet’s surface, you receive a communication request from Venture Captain Whiskan. ”There are…….gravitational anomalies…...Turn back now, friend!”
You may attempt one of the below skill checks. Pay attention to what people rolled before you, you can only attempt this once…
Lenik 'The Prof' Fleest |
Computers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
The Prof taps on the keyboard at the ship's console for a moment. "Hmmm, this is rather peculiar. The message sounds rather urgent but it...ah, may have been urgent once but is perhaps now a little obsolete shall, we say. According to the log for this message, it was sent about 9 months ago!"

”I recognise Venture-Captain Whiskan as a senior Starfinder who was lost during the original Scoured Stars incident. This is a recording! What should we do?!“ Darqen asks
Jaqweh Navar |
Sense Motive, Expertise: 1d20 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (20) + 4 + (5) = 29
Intriguing....
Jaqweh calls on his intuition and his training in field interrogations with the Steward Officers to pick out the nuances in the Captain's tone and phrasing.
"Her tone is extremely familiar for such an important warning. And the use of the term 'friend' in the singular leads me to believe that this was intended for someone she knew well."
"Perhaps this answers the how and why of this disaster, but I think we should still investigate. There might be survivors after all."
It didn't specify a gender anywhere. She's a she now, unless someone knows better.
Also, comparing yourself to the pace of HMM is a losing contest for anyone!
Altorin Cyrido |
"I agree with you! Taking action is the only thing that makes sense here. Especially after the last group didn't make it...we gotta try to save anyone we can." Altorin says somewhat despondent after seeing what was left of the group on the planet of the dinosaurs he shakes if off a moment later and checks his spear.
GM Ewok |
Just after the message comes through, the ship’s sensors indicate nearby gravitational anomalies. The ship starts gently shaking...
Both of these checks must be completed, but they can be done by different people.
After a few minutes, the ship starts shaking uncontrollably and barely responds to controls.
Piloting- You can steer the ship—albeit with great difficulty.
Engineering- You can implement a quick fix that momentarily stabilizes the ship
Melee attack Roll- Just like with any stubborn technology, a good thunk on the side gets it working again!
Darqen Taabestuun |
Perception : 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
”Wait a minute!! This shaking doesn’t feel natural; it’s as if the ship’s own engines were creating the effect!!“ he shouts!
Ferradei |
Computers: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Ferradei clicks away on the console for a while but doesn't discover anything. A few minutes later when the ship begins to shake she leaps over to the engineering controls.
Engineering: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
And she has no better luck.
She grits her teeth and tries to keep the ship working.
Lenik 'The Prof' Fleest |
Computers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Physical Science: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
The Prof continues to tinker around with the terminal and reports back to the group. "Hmmm, no this can't be right. If one divides the distance by the square root of the inverse result of the auxilliary calculation then one would get quite a different answer to this! Something is most definitely not right about this sensor scan data. I surmise it must be false. I can most assuredly calculate more accurate navigational information than this...just give me a couple of moments." The Ysoki then continues to mutter under his breath as he runs through the complex calculations.
GM Ewok |
Everybody gets two more rolls!
The ship is shaking uncontrollably, and barely responds to controls!
Piloting- You can steer the ship—albeit with great difficulty.
Engineering- You can implement a quick fix that momentarily stabilizes the ship
Melee attack Roll- Just like with any stubborn technology, a good thunk on the side gets it working again!
You quickly realize that there is a an insidious virus infecting your landing craft via Starfinder communication channels, easily bypassing firewalls and other defenses. It seems to be interfering with the controls! You can write a script on the fly that allows limited access to the hijacked systems.
Then, the ship’s engines stop working altogether, and the ship starts rapidly losing altitude!!
