Slotted Boons (wish I had something more fitting to my celebrity status)

boons:

Wayfinders Champion (Faction Boon)
You’ve declared your allegiance to the Wayfinders and dedicate your missions to furthering the goals of that faction. A character with this boon slotted at the end of a successfully completed scenario gains Reputation as detailed in the primary and secondary success conditions of that scenario.

Automated Defenses (Starship Boon): You defeated one of the orbital defense platforms orbiting the planet Elytrio. The platform contained several unique, albeit technologically outdated, innovations in starship design. The most promising adaptation of the technology is its ability to deter oncoming missiles using miniature automated drones. When you slot this starship boon, once per starship combat, a science officer can reduce the speed on a single tracking weapon fired at your starship by 50% for 1 round. Declare the use of this ability when the enemy weapon is fired but before its gunnery check is attempted. A science officer can spend a Resolve Point to activate this boon in any subsequent round or encounter. A starship can only be improved by a single copy of this boon.

Faction's Friend (Social Boon; 3 uses): By assisting various factions of the Starfinder Society, you have proven yourself as a dependable asset. By slotting this boon, if you would fail to earn Fame at the end of the adventure by failing to fulfill a success condition, you can check one of the boxes on this boon. Doing so reminds your current championed faction of your past exploits, and you still earn 1 Reputation (but no Fame) with that faction as if you had successfully fulfilled the condition. You can use this boon only if you would also gain at least 1 XP for completing the adventure.

Marked Field Agent (Slotless Boon) SYSTEM:Hand , MODEL: Single ,LEVEL: 1. This implant rests underneath the skin of the palm of one hand, or at the end of a tentacle or similar appendage in species that lack hands. The augmentation can be activated or deactivated mentally as a swift action. Activating the implant causes a rendition of the Starfinder Society’s symbol to glow underneath the skin. This augmentation acts as a mark, letting others know you are a member of the Starfinder Society. It also increases the light level within 5 feet by one step while active.

Mobile Translator (Slotless)
Prerequisites: Wayfinders Tier 1
Cost: 2 Fame
Benefit: You acquire a Tetrad certified translator as if you had
purchased it, but you do not need to expend any credits.
Normal: You need to spend credits to acquire this item.

This elaborate datapad has several additional audio receptors to
capture nearby sounds. If you don’t share a language with creatures
you encounter, you can activate this device to collect basic linguistic information. The device requires 10 minutes of observed conversation to gain enough information to operate. The device then acts as a rudimentary translator. It does not allow you to converse with creatures with whom you don’t share a language, but it can relate very basic information. Examples of statements the device could interpret would be: “come with us,” “lower your weapons,” or “leave immediately.” The device cannot parse proper names, including personal designations or the names of items and places. Some extraordinary complex or obscure languages might not translate clearly with this device. A Tetrad certified translator has 10 capacity and 1/hour usage.

Super psyched to be in another one of your games Cellion. Are there any boons I may want to slot for this adventure?

Yes. Please continue to assume that.

As far as slotting boons is concerned:

Any boons that you think would help for an investigation are recommended.
If you have the 'Abadarcorp Respect' boon from 1-02, you may find it useful.

Absolutely done by then. The PbP convention doesn't start until the 13th of August, we've got almost two months. If we keep up this level of activity, we might be done in a month.

@GM, this is NOT intended as a quibble or challenge. I'm still fairly new to Starfinder, so I'm only asking so as to better understand the limitations of the build I have going forward.

I can wait till after this combat is done to prevent spoilers, but I'm curious as to why the Intimidate to Demoralize was ineffective.

I have an idea but it is completely a guess. I have been playing d20 systems for a long time though and I bet I'm right. If I am it may also be a spoiler though so read at your own risk. Cellion will let you know for sure though I bet.

Spoiler:
This thing is probably an undead or close to it. It's probably mindless and doesn't have any way to understand your intimidating words.

Sarangari is right if you want to open his spoiler.

More Details:
Undead have a set of immunities that include immunity to mind-affecting abilities, plus some of them are also mindless (like this one). Effectively, your target of intimidate needs to be able to understand you to be able to be intimidated.

Exo-Guardians

Male LN Damaya Lashunta Envoy (Steward Officer) 12 SP 96 / 96 | HP 76 / 76 | RP 16 / 16 | EAC 27 ; KAC 29| Fort +8; Ref +12; Will +10 | Active conditions: None

Thanks for the explanations. I hadn't considered the effect of that particular creature trait.

Type vs Trait:

So an intelligent undead like a vampire can be Shaken since even they could be frightened of something bigger, badder, and scarier than them. But a Mindless creature like this thing, or an ooze, etc, can't be affected. Makes sense.

I hope I don't regret taking that archetype.

I don't think you will. There's something to counter everything we can do, even just straight up damage. All enemies won't do that to you though, that would be annoying. Most of the time it'll work.

Thanks to everyone for your nice words about this character. It is a strange thing, playing someone so nutty, and in the 3 previous modules I've done I watch as my compatriots go from humor, to anger and revulsion, and eventually to a resigned acceptance. Thanks for RP'ing with Muztazio.

That name change won't be permanent thankfully. At the end of this module his agent will explain to him how absolutely stupid that name is. But thanks for the fun, Twik!

Starting Friday I'll be gone for a week on vacation, very little internet access. Which bums me out since we will be starting up a fun battle, looks like.

For botting, Mustachio will get a good sniping location and shoot with his rifle. Of course, he will primarily apply get'em and inspiring boosts (7 SP healed) as often as he can. Inspiring boost can only work on each person once per rest.

Alright, I'll be reporting this game tomorrow and generating chronicles (way too late tonight to do so). Please feel free to go through any final RP if you'd like!

Also, let me know if you have any feedback on the game. This one turned out to run a little longer than I expected, and I'm not sure if that's because I didn't push it along as much as I should have, or if we just engaged in it more than normal.

I certainly didn't feel that it ran long at all. This one actually felt fast. I often felt bad that I couldn't keep up with the post rate due to my flight schedule. Thanks for running it!

For those that haven't heard, it was announced at PaizoCon that sometime in Oct or Nov there will be an update to the SFS Guild Guide. Some corrections, updates and a few changes. One of the changes relates to the boon on this chronicle:

In the update, all Legacy races will become fully available, no further boons required for them. So the "New Character" option on this chronicle becomes essentially valueless.

FWIW, I was at the panel when Tonya announced this.

Again, thanks for running.

I think it progressed smoothly and at a good pace. Much like Jaqweh, I struggled to keep up the pace - mostly on the weekends when I’m not sitting in front of a computer all day like I do during the week at work.

I hadn’t heard they were going to open up the legacy races for play. For me personally, it’s a good thing. My third (and next) character is going to be a dwarf so I can spend my *spoiler* chronicle on bumping his stats and not on making him available to play.

Great time for me, pace didnt seem slow at all. Well RPed by everyone.

Thanks all!

A fun adventure! Cellion, do you have plans to run something else? Mustachio is always ready for the next chance to build his CV.

Great game, Cellion! Thanks for running it!

And thanks to everyone else for the fun interactions! I look forward to playing with all of you again soon.

OK, so the game should be reported and I've whipped up the chronicles, you can find them at this link. Let me know if anything looks wrong so I can fix it for you!

That news is great Jaqweh! I still hadn't used my boon from when I played this, and now I'm glad I waited. Also, lucky you getting to go to Paizocon :>

As for future games: I'm all lined up to run 1-05 and 1-16 for the PbP Gameday. Those games are currently full based on the signups, but if people don't end up mustering, I may attempt to tap someone here to join. Just let me know if you're interested in either of them.

Thanks all. Hope to see you guys in a game again soon.

I wonder if you can still use the second parts of those boons...

Looks good to me, thanks again. 1-16 is repeatable right? If you need someone I can play, I've already done 1-05. Otherwise I'll see you at the Scoured Stars Invasion!
