Vulf smiles down at the girl and nods saying "Don't we have a few drink to get first?" he laughs not really concerned with money he would rather just spend time with her and the other companions but since meeting her in particular he wanted to protect her and keep an eye on her.

He looked at the older elf with mistrust, elders he had learned judged you always, and since being thrown out of his clan he mistrusted other elves especially civilized ones.

"That we do," Zelaria answers. "Would you like to walk together a ways and see if we can discover a booth?"

" Well if our companions don't mind. but didn't you want to look around the stores for something pretty?" he asks remembering how she talked about shopping earlier.

Lantern Lodge

Lumi responds to the male witch's question, my cousin Nu-Nu dissapeared around the previous time that the cathedral had burned down. i haven't seen her since, but i can sense that she is alive somewhere in this world.

"Ah, that was..." Zelaria says, and blushes. "Selfish, and rude of me, yes. Truth be told, I was eager to be alone for a time with my own thoughts for a time, but Desna appeared to have different plans for me, as well." She looks to Rohan hopefully."I am curious to learn more about your magics, and Copper. Maybe we should adjourn and go to an area less... traveled so we can learn more about each other in comfort rather than hold up traffic in busy streets?"

"No it wasn't Id love to be with you while you look for things it'll let me..... He trails off as she begins talking to Rohan and thinks on her words, maybe she was tired of talking to an unschooled half breed like himself.

Zelaria gasps and her eyes widen as she turns and regards Vulf. So I did not mistake his intent, then how... she flushes. "Pray, pardon me, Vulf. I was mistaken, when you asked-" she exhales and sort of sways. "I've never been... I mean, it's not often that I'm asked to walk a ways with others. My studies, they weigh heavily and," she shakes her head. "I'm sorry. Would you like to? Walk with me, I mean?"

Skerrin nods politely.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Zelaria, Rohan, and Copperscale."

He regards the small dragon quizzically, before continuing.

"Tell me, what manner of creature is Copperscale? He looks like a miniature dragon, but there is something... not quite right... which I cannot place my finger on..."

Picking-up on Vulf's desire to be left alone, Skerrin's gaze passes over the half-elf, and settles upon Zelaria.

"Yes, the festival has been quite entertaining so far. I look forward to seeing as many of the entertainments as possible! You mentioned that you performed yourself? What is your specialty?"

"Always" he answers simply and smiles shyly a slight blush coloring his tanned skin. He offers his hand to her and tilts his head slightly to hide his flushed skin. I dont know what walking with her means here but maybe its a good sign

The witch returns the elf's greeting.

"Hello, sir elf. I am Antionous Demonte of the glorious state of Korvosa. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Don't say anything stupid, Corvus

Zelaria takes Vulf's hand with her left, and tattooed hand, placing her fingers outside his on reflex. When she were a younger girl, when Bjørn had aught to fear but her infectious smiles, he had allowed her to twine her significantly smaller fingers through his when they clasped hands, but, as she imagined a real father might, when she attained her woman shape he guided her to do otherwise. She smiles at the tattooed warrior broadly, and is pleasantly surprised at the feel of the callouses on his fingers and palm. She almost misses Master Maltisse's question.

"Oh? Performance?" she repeats, slightly disappointed that she cannot share this one moment with Vulf. "Ah, not myself, but Vulf here. I merely provided the entertainment, illusionary goblins for him to dispatch in his skilled dance." she answers.

"My specialty?" she blinks and considers the question. "I... am charming," she answers and giggles softly.

Vulf grins and holds her fingers close, careful not to grasp to tightly to her small delicate fingers, even though he was ecstatic. He listens to her answering the old elf questions and interjects "She is being modest. Without her my dance would be nothing more than fancy flips.

He smiles at the last bit and agrees readily in his mind with her, She certainly is.

Zelaria gives Vulf's fingers a delicate squeeze in return. She has never met an elf, before, but knows that they are famed for their intelligent manipulation of magics. Zelaria's magics originated within her, and her control of them was hard won. She was somewhat anxious that this one was making light of her, and the way that he had ignored Vulf did not sit well with her, either.

"You're too kind," she demurs to Vulf. "Most magicians can utilize the spell I used. Mine was just a creative application for the sake of your performance."

"Still looked impressive to me." He says matter of factly. He looks down at her reluctant to let go of her hand and continues to stand close to her.

"Though if we don't hurry we might miss those shops you wanted to see Zelaria, before the church thing starts I mean." he reminds her.

Lantern Lodge

Lumi continued following Vulf and Zeleria and she tries to ask the pair, do you beleive that Nu-Nu will return anytime soon?

Dotting for interest. I'll kick around ideas tomorrow and should have something posted by Sunday night, hopefully.

"Hurry? Oh! Yes, of course. There are a great number of travelers," Zelaria replies. She looks to their companions, and offers a smile. "If you will kindly excuse us, it is highly unlikely that we will be able to miss finding the brilliant Copper and Lumi again in this crowd," she assures them brightly. "It was very nice meeting with you Master Maltisse," she adds politely.

Zelaria looks to Vulf, and her hand in his, and blushes again, and gestures with a nod of her head for him to walk with her. "I hope that sorting through trinkets will not bore you, Vulf."

When Lumi speaks, Zelaria looks down at peers at her with curiosity. A ward of the church she had said, would they not have been taught manners, there? Zelaria smiles nervously, uncertain how to answer. "It may be likely. There are certainly many people here who are excited to see the cathedral's opening."

Antinous Demonte wrote:

Skerrin nods in reply.

"A pleasure to meet you, too. What are you doing here?"

"Ah, so you are a dabbler in the Arcane Arts? I am sorry that I missed the show that the two of you put on. I dare say it would have been quite marvelous."

Zelaria Quiatris wrote:

Skerrin raises an eyebrow, but then, as he glances from Zelaria to Vulf, realisation dawns.

Ah...

"Well, it has been a pleasure meeting the two of you. I wish you luck as you browse the market stalls. Perhaps we will meet again, and I will see the show that the two of you have..."

He then bows arthritically as the two turn to leave, before focusing his attention on Antinous.

"You say that you come from Korvosa? Tell me, how is the city? It has been over a hundred years since I walked its streets; I remember that it was quite beautiful...", he says, wistfully.

Skerrin Maltise wrote:

"Copperscale here is known as an eidolon, formed from my magic and my heritage." When asked about his longtime companion.

Zelaria wrote:

"Of course, we can go anywhere you wish to. I have nothing but time." He replies to the Varisian beauty.

"Thank you for recognizing my brilliance. I stand out in a crowd, you cannot miss me." The little eidolon chimes in feeling a bit left out of the conversation until now.

Skerrin is taken-aback for a moment, but recovers quickly.

"I must apologise; I did not know that you could speak. please forgive me, Copperscale."

He then turns his attention to Rohan.

"I must admit, Copperscale is fascinating. You said that he was formed from your magic and heritage? Is he an independent being, a manifestation of your subconscious, or simply a semi-independent extension of your conscious will?"

Zelaria leads her companions to the milliner's stall where she spied a length of attractive ribbon when she and Iolana arrived to construct their own booth. She is slightly disheartened when she finds that it has vanished from the display, but the subject brings to mind a question.

Still holding hands with Vulf, Zelaria reaches and touches a length of violet trim. "Among my people, each color carries a significant meaning. Violet is said to aide our ability to interpret the dreams Desna sends us, and is worn by our mystics," Zelaria says, mostly for Vulf's benefit, as he mentioned that he would be willing to share the customs of his own people, later. She touches two other lengths of ribbon. "Pinks, typically soft, indicate kindness, but also courage, and blue is the color associated with youth, and beauty."

Zelaria blushes slightly and looks at Vulf from beneath the fringe of her eyelashes. "Do the colors of your tattoos have any significant meaning?" She looks to Copper and addresses the edilon and Rohan. "Pray pardon me if it seems rude, but does Copper's gold scale have meaning as well?"

Vulf watches the young woman explain the meanings behind the cloths taking note on which her hand lingers on the most. At her question he glances down at his own tattoos, just a jet black swirling patterns ending in sharp edges and rolling patterns.

"It is said that the spirit of the foe you have conquered sometimes inhibits the tattoo of the victorious. It makes us stronger I suppose. I really don't know much else about them just a tradition I was taught."

Zelaria hums and pulls a length of turquoise lace from the display case. The detail is exquisite, and being floral, distinctly feminine, but the color is bold. She hands the vendor her silver and asks for a shorter length, ceasing to hold Vulf's hand for a moment so that she can tie the length to his wrist.

"Turquoise represents strength," she tells him while her deft fingers work to secure the length in a pretty knot. She looks up at him and blushes. "My people have a tradition of tattooing as well. Most are purely decorative, and indicative of our flighty natures," she admits with a smile. "Was it the shamans who taught you? Are they your clan's eldest? Your wise women?"

Working up a Paladin of Erastil. Two questions for the most glorious and merciful DM Ryuko (flattery never hurts, eh?);
First, are you allowing Ultimate Combat? More specifically (although I may look more closely at the feats later), how do you feel about the Divine Hunter Archetype for Paladins?

Second, would it be alright if I applied with two potential builds in mind? While my preference would be for the Divine Hunter (as it both fits Erastil better and, admittedly, is a bit more optimized apparently), I'd also be happy going with a more traditional greatsword wielding pally in order to fill the meat shield role if need be.

Either way, his backstory and so forth will be pretty much the same, with some minor adjustments.

I love UC and am fine with the divine hunter. U don't have my copy yet but I'll look at it. I'm playing a similar character in a rl game. 2 builds is fine but unnecessary. I am looking at balance a bit but not enough to stop someone playing what they like.

Excellent; thanks for the quick response! One holy archer coming up.

You got lucky, I'm on break at work. Look forward to checking it out when I get home.

"The Elders are just the longest lived of our tribe, over the decades they have lived they are given an honorary place in the tribes council and choose how best for the clan to proceed." He shrugs looking at her, smiling slightly at the pretty bow in her hair.

"I truly don't know about the magic of the tribe. I never really was given a chance to learn. Being a half breed that is."

Zelaria frowns and touches the lace she has tied on Vulf's wrist, then takes his hand in hers again. She hoped that the gesture would communicate to him that hers were a different folk... She shores up her resolve and lets her fingers twine through his, joining them more completely, as The Tangled Briar. And she... The masked Courtesan?

"Desna smiles upon all who travel," she offers brightly.

Vulf smiles down at their hands and shrugs The spirits have chosen this path for me, I can only thank them they have lead me to a companion like her

"Maybe we will travel together more in the future" he says to her and holds her hand close not minding the pretty lace thing on his wrist.

It is not the first time she has wondered why she has not dreamed of this moment, but then, her master Zurisatro had lectured her time and again that Desna was not a goddess of prophecy, but chance. Desna was in the hearts of all travelers, including Rohan, Copper, Lumi, and Master Matisse, and all those strangers gathered here. That this one encounter should be significant was purely chance, but not wholly without significance...

"I would like that very much," Zelaria answers, and nods.

Lantern Lodge

Lumi replies as she still followed Zelaria and Vulf, i would like to travel with you as well. her voice sounded just as perky and cheerful as ever.

Vulf just grins and looks at both girls.

Well it sounds good to me perhaps soon we will have the chance. Now besides decorating me with bows, What else did you want to look for Aria?

"I honestly cannot answer that. My knowledge of it is lacking and even Copper can't tell me. But if I had to guess, I would have to say the first. He acts independent enough to get me in trouble." Rohan replies. Copper just grins as he is being talked about.

"It is not rude at all, especially since you asked so politely. His gold scales have to do with the fact that my lineage is that of a gold dragon. Or do you mean the single solitary scale of copper on his forehead? That I do not know, other than it made naming him very easy." Rohan answers a bit confused.

Vulf wrote:

Rohan replies with a smile.

Kalizkan here. Here's my application so far. There might be some tweaking in the next few days, but this stuff should be pretty much good to go. Any feedback is much appreciated.

Also, a mechanical question; how would you feel about me taking the Caravan Guard trait from Jade Regent, Ryuko? While he's not a caravan guard, I think that the bonus (namely making Survival a class skill and giving it a slight boost) fits Markellus' background.

Name: Markellus Severian
Concept: New paladin of Erastil, out to prove himself.
Group Role: Ranged Damage Dealer/Support (healing and buffing)/Diplomat
Class and Archetypes: Paladin (Divine Hunter)
Alignment: Lawful Good, of course
Race: Human (Chelaxian)

Backstory:
Markellus was born the middle of three sons to a family of good Chelish stock in the Varisian town of Nybor. The Severians had been one of the great noble families of Cheliax before the death of Aroden, and fought against House Thrune in the civil wars that followed it. They fled Cheliax in defeat shortly before the Thrune Ascendency, and Markellus’ great-grandfather, Quaestus eventually settled in Magnimar, believing that it was far enough away from Cheliax to escape the Thrune’s wrath and let him rebuild the trading empire that the Severians had previously had.

Quaestus did not flee far enough, however. Spurred on by House Thrune, bounty hunters eventually found and killed him, forcing his family into flight again and dismantling any dreams of a prosperous existence away from Cheliax. This time, they fled to the small town of Nybor, where they settled down as farmers and took on the surname “Egorax.” Nybor was far enough away from the major cities to escape the notice of any remaining pursuers, and the family took up their old name again after Severian’s grandfather passed twenty years later.

Markellus father, Maxentius, has done well in keeping the family farm running, and in preparing his first son, Theon, to take it over. Markellus, however, never took to life as a farmer, much preferring to wander in the forest or go hunting with his friends. Growing up, he planned on moving to the town and apprenticing himself to a trapper, but this was not to be.

When he was fourteen, Markellus went on a hunting trip in Sanos forest with his close friend, the Half-Orc Gorthax. The two boys wandered too deep into the forest, and stumbled upon a potal to the fey. Several days later, Markellus wandered out of the forest, shivering and covered in scratches, babbling about monsters and green lights. His family took him to the local priest of Erastil and, after a few days, Markellus recovered. He never remembered anything but the occasional terrifying image and feeling that he should have done something for Gorthax, who never reappeared. Shortly after this, he dedicated himself to Erastil’s service, feeling a calling to serve the god and protect the innocent.

After undergoing his required time as an acolyte in Nybor, Markellus was sent to train as a paladin under a Varisian named Alescu in the town of Ilsurian. Alescu taught him to use his bow for more than simply hunting animals, and took him on patrols in the Ashwood to toughen him up. Alescu also strengthened Markellus’ understanding of the Parables of Erastil, and taught him a bit of rhetoric as well. In time (a mere six months ago), he judged Markellus worthy of the full title and responsibilities of a Paladin of Erastil. Since then, following a short visit home, Markellus has been wandering westward, interested in seeing what Magnimar is like and in seeing how he can serve Erastil in his travels.

Potential Plot Hooks:
1. The Severians were quite well-known opponents of the Chelaxian diabolists (particularly House Thrune) before the Ascendency sixty years ago. While time has passed since then, the name might still be recognized by some, which could be problematic or helpful, depending on the person.

2. Markellus’ encounter with the Fey might provide a hook as well, either with fey looking for him, or perhaps with Gorthax appearing and blaming him for whatever happened on the trip.

Questionnaire:
Why are you at the Swallowtail Festival?
Interested in visiting Magnimar/following Erastil’s guidance.
What's your main motivation?
Protection of the innocent, service to Erastil.
What other motivations do you have?
An interest in testing his abilities and proving to himself that he is better than he was when Gorthax was taken.
What is your greatest fear?
Being taken by the Fey.
What is your greatest wish?
To save Gorthax from what happened to him.
What is the moral line you would never cross?
Murder, lying, etc. Pretty much anything outside of the Paladin Code of Conduct.
What do you know of goblins?
That they’re nasty, evil little buggers who attack farms and kill families. Markellus hasn’t fought them before.

Edit: Tweaked a few things.

Zelaria blushes. "It is not uncommon that wherever drinks are served, there is also conversation, and dancing," Zelaria suggests. "Today is a festival day, after all."

"Well then maybe you and I should dance, though I don't know any of your civilized dances, you will have to teach me Aria. he smiles shyly at her.

"Unfortunately, Desna did not make me with half the grace my cousins seem to possess," she apologizes, "I will endeavor not to make a fool of myself in your presence, however."

"Will still dance better than me. Now where is this drinking and dancing place. Are you coming Lumi? " He laughs grinning broadly at Aria.

Lantern Lodge

Yes i am the young angelspawn perkily replies as she follows Zelaria and Vulf.

Whelp, all I know of is the Rusty Dragon, which Rohan mentioned, a resident of the city, I assume that I would know where it is.

Zelaria leads her companions to the Rusty Dragon, which Rohan should already be familiar with, her hand twined with Vulf's through the time. She sneaks glances at him on occasion, and speaks to Lumi.

"Is your cousin a social girl? Do you believe we might be able to meet her where other people would gather?"

Lantern Lodge

Lumi responds to Zelaria's question as she continues following, Nu-Nu dissapeared around the previous time that the cathedral had burned down. i haven't seen her since.

Nu-Nu is Lumi's affectionate Nickname for Nualia.

Rohan and Copperscale greet the staff as they enter. Rohna orders their usual(a single mead for Rohan and 2 goblets of wine for Copper) and asks the others what they would like to eat and drink. "This place has treated us well, despite being outsiders and despite someone's rude behavior." Rohan says to the others while nodding towards his friend.

Lantern Lodge

I'll take a light mead. Lumi says cheerfully.

"My master has proscribed imbibing, but thank you for your kind offer," Zelaria says and smiles at Rohan and Copper. "I believe Vulf and I will take a first dance, but if you gentlemen would like a turn, I would be glad to take a turn with you as well."

Zelaria pulls Vulf's arm around her waist somewhat, and leads them both to the dance floor.

It'll be just fine, I don't mind a bit. Like the character so far too. Something to note though, since you've got UC, is that unless I look into it and the feat prerequisites are ridiculous, Clustered Shots will not be allowed. That feat just destroys any DR monster at all.

@Vulf and Zelaria: While I like the romance budding between your characters, if you both get into the game I'd like you to dial it back the slightest bit. I'm fine with two characters having a romance but it's no fun if you're both crazy about each other at level 1, just asking you to space it out a bit.

@ Ryuko - Message received.

*glances at feat* Fair enough. Hadn't really looked through the UC ranged stuff yet, to tell you the truth, but I'll make sure to avoid it (especially since every archer will have the feats by level 5 anyways). Besides, that's what Smite Evil's for, ja?

Also, I'll be joining the RP shortly; just need to finish up the appearance and get writing (and catch up on where things stand right now, I suppose).

@ ryuko I think we kinda just got caught up in the characters plus I think the characters just had a little crush on each other. When/If were allowed to continue in the AP we will definitely slow it down as such 2 distracted adventures often end up monster food :) but again message received

Indeed, for myself, this is pretty much the first time anyone has shown anyone outside of her family has shown attention to Zelaria. As a sorceress specializing in Enchantments. I imagined that her power manifested in putting potential suitors to sleep, or dazing them. Just the flavor I have in mind for how innate magics can go wrong while you're learning control.
